The award winning 55.05m/180'7" motor yacht 'Kahalani' was built by Feadship in the Netherlands at their Aalsmeer shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Remi Tessier and she was delivered to her owner in April 2010. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of De Voogt.

Kahalani has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 11 guests in 6 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 13 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Kahalani is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3512 B) 1,499hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots with a range of up to 5,600 nautical miles from her 97,250 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. The low profile and sleek nature of the exterior reflect the elegance on board, offering distinctive Feadship style wrapped around large volumes thanks to a beam of 10.30 metres. Underway, guests can enjoy al-fresco dining and relaxation on the sun deck across the huge exterior spaces as well as true day-to-day comfort within for longer crossings. Camper & Nicholsons International has been appointed worldwide exclusive sales agent for Kahalani , a 2010 custom Feadship that’s being offered for sale for the first time.

Kahalani has an exterior done in-house by Feadship’s DeVoogt, with interiors by Remi Tessier in Paris. Accommodations are for 11 guests in six staterooms, with separate quarters for 13 crew.

According to the brokerage house: “No expense was spared in the development and construction of this yacht, and few have been built to such exacting standards and detailed design.”

The main engines are showing a little more than 4,000 hours, with only light use in the Mediterranean throughout the yacht’s life.

Amenities include a full-beam bridge salon in addition to the main salon, a sundeck hot tub and bar, and sundeck and bridge-deck dining.

Is Kahalani built to the MCA standard? Yes, which means the yacht’s new owner can offer it for charter.

The sound of trumpets filled the yard as Feadship launched the 55.05m (180'7") Feadship Kahalani on Saturday 16 January 2010. Her delighted owner had flown in members of the Light Infantry Buglers to serve as a guard of honor and add extra gravitas to the name giving ceremony. They joined guests from around the world and hundreds of personnel in celebrating the completion of a timeless Feadship with an ornate modern interior.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
