Know Before You Go

In case of bad weather conditions, the boat will not cruise to the Atlantis Hotel.

It is best to be barefoot while walking on the yacht. Most yachts require you to do so. But even when you are allowed, go for a pair of soft-soled shoes. This is to avoid scuffing the surface of the boat.

Fino a qualche anno fa, il porto di Acciaroli ( frazione di Pollica ) era soprattutto una tappa di passaggio per grandi barche da diporto, provenienti da Nord e diretti alle Isole Eolie e in Sicilia. Oggi, invece, questa infrastruttura, dedicata al sindaco-pescatore Angelo Vassallo , rappresenta il cuore pulsante della vita produttiva e sociale del borgo marinaro, diventando di fatto un punto d’arrivo anche per i mega yacht .

«La bellezza dei luoghi, il mare cristallino, la Dieta Mediterranea ed i servizi offerti incentivano anche gli armatori di grosse imbarcazioni a fermarsi per godersi il Cilento » spiega il primo cittadino, Stefano Pisani . Possono accedervi imbarcazioni fino a 40 metri di lunghezza e durante i mesi estivi, se non si prenota con netto anticipo, si rischia di rimanere delusi.

Un grande frequentatore del porto turistico acciarolese è stato Roberto Cavalli , il noto stilista italiano morto ad aprile, che ha fatto più volte capolino da queste parti a bordo del suo yacht di lusso, Freedom. Ma la lista è lunga. Ci sono politici, gente dello sport e dello spettacolo, tra i frequentatori della Marina di Acciaroli . Sono superati i tempi in cui le mete gettonate erano solamente Capri , Penisola Sorrentina e Costiera Amalfitana. Un sistema portuale in crescita, quello a sud di Salerno, capace oggi di intercettare un target turistico elevato , grazie alla capacità di offrire servizi in grado di soddisfare anche i portafogli più esigenti.

Un punto di riferimento importante per lo sviluppo turistico e commerciale del territorio è rappresentato sicuramente dal porto di Agropoli, il primo scalo del Cilento e uno dei maggiori a sud di Salerno. Più volte, in passato, è stato avvistato in rada lo yacht della famiglia di Steve Jobs , il fondatore della Apple, così come nel 2020 è attraccato lo yacht Serenity con a bordo un altro ospite speciale: la principessa del Bahrein . La barca si trovava in rada, ma la principessa chiese espressamente di poter attraccare e scendere a terra, catturata dalla bellezza del luogo.

E, oggi, a conferma di questo forte appeal, l’amministrazione comunale ha deciso di puntare forte sul turismo crocieristico, affidando tramite avviso pubblico la gestione della zona di rada. L’obiettivo è, infatti, quello di aprire il porto turistico alle navi da crociera. «Il nostro porto ha una dimensione importante ed il primo scalo del Cilento - evidenzia l’assessore al Porto, Giuseppe Di Filippo - E, poi, abbiamo la fortuna di avere una rada che è scelta dai mega yacht perché protetta in modo naturale dalla rupe e, quindi, rappresenta un riparo sicuro per le imbarcazioni . Ma noi abbiamo deciso di investire ulteriormente puntando sul traffico crocieristico così da favorire l’arrivo in città di turisti». Info-point, nuovi bagni per i diportisti, servizio wi-fi e presto anche un sito internet dove reperire in tempo reale tutte le informazioni per attraccare nel porto di San Marco, in ogni caso già oggi metà di yacht. I luoghi di Benvenuti al Sud e la vicinanza con l’isolotto di Licosa rappresentano un richiamo importante. Infine, scendendo verso il Basso Cilento, tra i porti in grado di catturare l’appeal dei Paperoni ci sono anche quelli di Palinuro, nel territorio comunale di Centola, e Sapri.

Ed è solo uno dei tanti ricconi che si è fermato da queste parti per godersi la Baia del Buondormire e le altre bellezze del territorio. Più di recente, l’estate scorsa, in rada, a Sapri, si è visto lo yacht dello stilista Valentino . L’estate 2024 non è ancora cominciata, ma c’è da scommettere che anche quest’anno le presenze saranno importanti, e soprattutto maestose.
