It’s a wrap for Steven Spielberg’s superyacht Seven Seas .
The world-famous director finally sold his epic 282-footer last week to an unknown buyer, according to Merle Wood & Associates . Although the brokerage firm did not specificity the amount paid, the vessel, now known as Man of Steel , was listed earlier this year for $160 million . Thom Conboy of Denison Yachting represented the buyer, who is apparently a longtime repeat client.

The blockbuster yacht, built by noted shipyard Oceanco to Spielberg’s exact specifications, first hit the seas back in 2010. The Academy Award winner, who has a net worth of $3.7 billion, spared no expense when designing his dream machine, and this is the first time it has been offered for sale.
Of course, there is a cinema onboard. Merle Wood & Associates
The glitzy interior, which was penned by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen, spans four decks and offers ample space for entertaining A-listers. The vessel can accommodate 20 guests across nine generous staterooms, as well as 28 crew. The scene-stealer is, of course, Spielberg’s owner’s suite, which features a full-beam stateroom with ensuite and dressing room, along with an office and a terrace with its own private jacuzzi.
Naturally, Seven Seas is brimming with amenities fit for film royalty, including supersized screens in every room and a full movie theater. Elsewhere, there is a sauna, steam room, gym, pool, huge beach club, helipad and countless lounge areas and bars. As expected, there’s also a fully-stocked garage packed with a tender, speedboat, water toys and diving gear.

Spielberg ensured Seven Seas lived up to her name, too. Over the past decade, the 74-year-old has taken the go-anywhere superyacht all across the seven seas. It’s been spotted sailing off the coast of France during the Cannes Film Festival, and, more recently, on the waters near Antigua and Barbuda. The yacht’s transatlantic capability comes courtesy of twin MTU engines packing 4,680 hp each. She can hit a top speed of 20 knots or cruise at a more leisurely 15 knots.
Now that Spielberg has called cut on Seven Seas , we are patiently awaiting his next marine masterpiece.

Steven Spielberg Takes Delivery On His Cinematic $250 Million Superyacht
Considering he’s only ever agreed on a handful of occasions — and solely for two major franchises ( Indiana Jones , Jurassic Park ) — it takes a lot to convince that Steven Spielberg something needs a sequel, which should give you some idea about the significance of his brand new superyacht: Seven Seas 2.0.
For context, Seven Seas was also the name of his last Oceanco-built luxury vessel. Measuring 282 feet (86 metres) long, the Hollywood power player sold the previous iteration for around $150 million to make way for its eventual successor; Seven Seas 1.0 having also since been renamed Man of Steel (perhaps fellow director Zack Snyder was in the market).
Conceptualised by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design , Seven Seas 2.0 is a considerably larger boat at 358 feet (109 metres) with a capacity for 14 guests across seven cabins as well as 30 staff across 15 cabins. Flaunting a gorgeously proportioned profile and sleek steel hull, this lightweight aluminium beauty imposes quite a presence.
Key features include the following:
- 9 x staterooms
- 1 x beach club
- 1 x helipad
- 1 x tender garage
- and of course, a full-blown movie theatre
Seven Seas is powered by twin MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesel engines, each capable of generating 4,813 horsepower and achieving speeds of 20 knots. It weighs 4,444 tons.
All in all, it’s exactly what you’d expect from a four-time Academy Award winner with a reported net worth of almost $8 billion — check out Steven Spielberg’s superyacht Seven Seas 2.0 below.

Inside Steven Spielberg’s Real Estate Portfolio—Including His Mega-Yacht
By Joyce Chen
Though he’s been in the movie business for more than 50 years, Steven Spielberg only recently shared his own story through the award-winning autobiographical drama The Fabelmans. The iconic director has largely kept his private life out of the spotlight, preferring his professional accomplishments to take center stage, but what is known about his off-screen pursuits is that he has a deep love for real estate and luxury vehicles.
“The only difference between redoing the house and making a film is that I paid for it,” he once told Architectural Digest of turning his Pacific Palisades estate into his dream home. In other words, the intentionality and attention to detail that the director is so well-known for onscreen extends into his vast real estate portfolio. Over the years, he has bought and sold properties in Malibu, New York City, East Hampton, and Naples, Florida (though details on his homes there are scarce), among other locales. Here, we’ve rounded up a few of the places he’s called home.
A view of the main house from inside the guesthouse at Spielberg’s East Hampton compound.
In the earlier years of Spielberg’s career, he and his then wife, Amy Irving, lived between an apartment in Manhattan and a summer cottage in the Hamptons. Spielberg had reportedly purchased the main property for the 3.9-acre Hamptons compound at the recommendation of his mentor, media mogul Steve Ross. The director worked with architect Charles Gwathmey to reimagine the main house from an 18th-century Dutch barn (the family later dubbed the house Quelle Barn). Spielberg’s favorite feature of the home? “The statement of the staircase,” he told AD in May 1988, of the zigzagging stairs that run through the middle of the barn.
Spielberg’s cedar-shingle guesthouse at his Hamptons property.
In 1991, Spielberg called upon Gwathmey to construct an additional cedar-shingle modern guesthouse, which was featured in AD. “Working with Steven is great because he is visual, yet he also believes in collaboration,” Gwathmey told AD at the time. The building is single-story and features two primary bedrooms that each have their own fireplace, window seat, and outdoor terrace. At the opposite end of the skylit gallery are the children’s bedrooms, outfitted with bunk beds. Several years later, the director and the architect collaborated again after Spielberg purchased several more acres, this time constructing a second guesthouse, a garage with staff rooms above it, and stables. Spielberg still owns this property.
The San Remo in New York City.
Spielberg’s longtime Manhattan apartment is located in the San Remo building, easily one of the most expensive and coveted apartment co-ops in the world. Though it’s unclear when and for how much the director purchased his home in the prewar Beaux Arts building designed by Emery Roth, what is known is that he owns a pad on the 17th floor measuring 6,000 square feet and overlooking Central Park West. In 2000, the Times reported that fellow residents in the 27-floor luxury building were unhappy with the “jackhammering and renovation” that was going on, so it is safe to assume that Spielberg has made some upgrades to the unit since his purchase. Other celebrities who have lived in the San Remo include Steve Jobs, Bono, Diane Keaton, Bruce Willis, Mary Tyler Moore, and Tiger Woods.
Before Spielberg purchased the five-bedroom, six-bathroom Pacific Palisades property that would become his primary residence, he already owned two other places in LA—a bachelor pad in Coldwater Canyon and a beach house in Malibu. When he and Irving decided to look for a more permanent home on the West Coast, however, they went with something slightly larger: a 10,000-square-foot tile-roof stucco mansion situated on three hillside acres overlooking the city. “It was like going to Hawaii and finding the perfect cove,” he told AD of the residence’s prime location. The Mediterranean-style mansion, which was previously owned by Cary Grant and David O. Selznick, among other Hollywood luminaries, was already impressive, but Spielberg took it upon himself to further reimagine parts of the property, enlisting the help of architect Harry Newman.

Steven Spielberg’s Pacific Palisades home on the May 1989 cover of Architectural Digest .
He doubled its size to 20,000 square feet; created a hobbit-themed TV room with mushroom-shaped windows, a retractable television screen, and curved walls; and installed a 14,000-gallon curved aquarium in the primary bathroom. In the mid-’90s, he added two important structures to the property: a guesthouse and a study, which he wanted to integrate “as if they had always been there,” he told AD in April 1994. The three structures are connected via a spiral ramp reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s late work. Spielberg also added a vineyard to the property in 2013. The director and his current wife, Kate Capshaw, still consider this compound their primary residence, and it has been estimated to be worth upwards of $100 million by the website Celebrity Net Worth.
Spielberg purchased the first of two Malibu properties that would become a mega-compound for $3.375 million this year. More than a decade later, in 2000, he would buy the second for $3.2 million. The two-parcel spread comprised 1.41 acres with a 7,237-square-foot main house and a separate, self-contained guesthouse. Built in the Arts & Crafts style, the seven-bedroom, eight-and-a-half bathroom residence included a media lounge with a fireplace, a dining area with a bay window, and a spacious home theater. The second-floor primary suite boasted an oceanside terrace, a massage room, and a private library. Spielberg and Capshaw put the sprawling residence up for rent in 2013, asking $125,000 a month (later, it rose to $150,000 a month) before finally selling it in an off-market deal for $26 million in 2015.
Spielberg next expanded his East Hampton holdings with the purchase of a 1900s home for $20 million. The Hollywood icon promptly razed the existing house and planned to build a new mansion in its place on the three-acre pond-front lot, but nothing came of the building plans for years. Finally, in 2014, he quietly listed the empty Georgica Cove lot for $24.5 million. It sold for $21.25 million several months later.
Spielberg then turned his attention from land to sea, commissioning the construction of a 282-foot mega-yacht he named Seven Seas after his seven children and his wife. The oceanic behemoth was built by Netherlands-based company Oceano, and featured four decks, a swimming pool, multiple spas, full cinema, and helipad. It could easily accommodate up to 20 guests in its nine staterooms, as well as up to 28 crew members, and with its 77,000-gallon fuel tank, could potentially make a transatlantic trip. The main suite on the upper level featured a private study, a walk-in closet, and a spacious bathroom with spa. Spielberg listed Seven Seas for $160 million in spring 2021 and sold it several months later for a reported $150 million, to billionaire steel baron Barry Zekelman. The yacht has since been appropriately renamed to Man of Steel . It has been rumored that in 2019, Spielberg commissioned Oceano to build a new, even larger yacht measuring 358 feet.

Another day, another dip for Michelle Obama as she soaks up the Mediterranean sun on Steven Spielberg 's new yacht with Tom Hanks , 67, and his wife Rita, 66.
The former first lady, 59, is playing gooseberry among the power couples of Hollywood as husband Barack remains home in California while she gets on with the serious business of relaxing.

Barack meanwhile has been seen in Portland, Oregon on a visit to the Nike campus .
Obama was seen joking about wanting 'free swag' and delivered a short speech about the company's pursuit of excellence in a video posted on social media by a Nike employee.
'So, who's in charge of my swag?' the former president was heard asking. 'I mean you know why I'm here - for the latest stuff so I can impress my daughters.'
Obama also appeared at the Mia Hamm building, where top Nike executives are housed, and was given a brief tour at the LeBron James Innovation Center, where new products are developed.
Later he was seen surrounded by security guards after enjoying a meal at Funke on South Santa Monica Boulevard.
But he was silent when asked by reporters about rumors that his wife was considering a run at the presidency herself.
It comes after prominent Texas politician and former Republican candidate Ted Cruz speculated that Michelle could replace Joe Biden before the 2024 election.
The Texas Senator said Democrats may be looking to avoid nominating 80-year-old Biden over concerns about his advanced age.

'In August of 2024 the Democrat kingmakers jettison Joe Biden and parachute in Michelle Obama.'
'I view this as a very serious danger,' he added.
But for now Michelle seems content to put political ambitions aside as she enjoys snorkeling and swimming with her Hollywood chums.

Fan-Alarm in Portofino: Die Geissens treffen italienischen Superstar

Steven Spielberg happy as a clam while eating ice cream in Portofino
Share this with
Do you know what it takes to make the most famous filmmaker in the world delightfully happy?
The answer would be, apparently, ice cream.
At least that appears to be the case with Steven Spielberg , who was spotted tucking in to a delicious cone-full of the stuff while on holiday in Portofino on Monday.
To be fair, we can imagine exactly how delicious this could be, especially as the UK gears up to face what could become its hottest day of the year .
Oscar-winning director Spielberg, 76, who has brought joy to generations with his blockbuster movies such as E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jurassic Park , appeared to be finding joy himself on his summer break in Italy.
Wearing jeans, a salmon-coloured polo-shirt and a grey baker boy hat, Spielberg was accompanied by his actress wife Kate Capshaw, 69, who looked chic in a blue and white striped shirt, white jeans and a straw sunhat.
The couple, who have been married since 1991, were also joined by pals, who they were seen ordering ice-cream with and then chatting to in the popular celebrity haunt on the Italian Riviera.
While Hollywood has (partially, given the ongoing Sag-Aftra and WGA strikes) descended on Venice for its prestigious film festival – including fellow director Woody Allen – Spielberg is clearly enjoying a little relaxation time.
He and Kate are said to be visiting the fishing village on their new 357ft superyacht Seven Seas, which can carry 14 guests in its seven cabins, as well as 30 staff across another 15.
It was built in the Netherlands last year by luxury firm Oceano, according to MailOnline .
Earlier this year, his most recent – and personal – movie The Fabelmans, was nominated for seven Oscars , including best film and best director.
It followed the story of a young Jewish man , Sonny Fabelman ( Gabriel LaBelle ), growing up in post-World War II era Arizona, who aspires to be a filmmaker and is loosely based on Spielberg’s own childhood .
He is also serving as producer on the upcoming The Colour Purple, based on the stage musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel, and starring Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Corey Hawkins and Halle Bailey.
Spielberg directed his own film version of The Colour Purple back in 1985, which was nominated for a whopping 11 Academy Awards, including best film and acting nods for its stars Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg and Margaret Avery.

Why Portofino by Yacht?
You will find the village of Portofino nestled in a snug harbour on a rocky outcropping along the Ligurian coast. One of the most desired yachting spots in the Mediterranean, its pink and ochre-colored buildings and cobblestone streets are framed by hills covered with pine and olive trees, all centered around a picturesque marina where fishing boats and super yachts share the space. The view from the harbour is unforgettable.
Surprisingly little has changed since the 1950’s and 60’s, when it became the place to go for celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and even Winston Churchill. Today it’s still an essential stop for billionaires with mega-yachts like Paul Allen and Steven Spielberg. Portofino and its alluring surroundings have been protected areas since 1935, and the flora, birds, underwater life and architecture have remained largely undisturbed.
Portofino’s prime attraction is the atmosphere, a timeless mix of old-style charm and “la dolce vita” of the rich and famous. It’s not the place for running around to catch all the touristic sights, but rather, to relax, take it slow and drink in in the stunning views. The deck of a yacht is the perfect setting for a visit to Portofino, where a person can experience Mediterranean magic with the sounds and smells of the sea nearby, and apart from the hustle and bustle of the day tourists on shore.
When you feel like it, walk around the tiny village; drop in at any of the boutique shops, which feature both international luxury fashion brands as well as local chic and artistic creations.
Dining in Portofino goes by Italian time, so breakfast is whenever you wake up, lunch happens around 2-4 pm, and dinner will start after 8. If you go onshore, there are a number of restaurants to choose from, serving excellent fish and pesto dishes. Or stop at a wine bar to sample some of the regional varieties, which may not be available outside of Italy. Some places also feature locally produced Limoncello. Your visit is not complete without stopping for a taste of the famous Italian gelato, served from shops on the harbour.
Portofino features a few historical sites which combine classical architecture with pristine natural surroundings and fantastic views. Early morning or late afternoon are good times to follow the winding path that leads through patches of flowers past the Church of St. Giorgio and up to the 16 th century fort Castello Brown on the hilltop, with its breathtaking panorama of the town, harbour and Mediterranean Sea. Not to be missed, the Museo del Parco is a unique terraced outdoor sculpture garden overlooking the marina. There is also the La Cervara Abbey with its wisteria courtyard, located on a cliff between Portofino and Santa Margherita Ligure, and dating back to the 14 th century.
Last but not least, pilot your yacht over to the protected waters of San Fruttuoso Bay and don scuba gear to see the mystical Christ of the Abyss statue, which lies about 56 feet underwater. There are a number of underwater shipwrecks in the area too. If you’re not a scuba diver, you will still enjoy the famous red coral and abundant fish and sea life in the rocky coves along the spectacular coastline, or just taking in the sun on deck while anchored off the Italian Riviera beaches.
Your Italian Riviera Holiday – by Superyacht!
There are many reasons why the ultimate setting for visiting Portofino is aboard a yacht. Whether you obtain a berth in the harbour (reserve space way in advance) or anchor in a cove near the town, from the deck you can experience the serenity and beauty of the area as it was back in the original resort days of the 50’s and 60’s, apart from the hustle and bustle of day tourists and modern life. Have the option to dine locally onshore, or with elegance and perfect sunset views on deck. Disembark and hike some of the area’s 80 miles of nature trails, or anchor in any of the picturesque coves and spend your days in the sunshine and water.
The scenery from your offshore setting is simply extraordinary, and you could spend hours just taking in the views.
If you want to experience the ultra-glamorous megayacht scene, there are few better ways to do it than to drop anchor in or around Portofino. And Monaco is only 4 hours away on a fast yacht.
