In my experience, it can be easy to overwhelm yourself with too many electronics. Try to aim for what is best in your situation and how it might apply to your boat while racing.

‍ Top Eight Marine Electronics for Racing or Sailing

There are an enormous amount of electronics that you can equip on your sailboat to help you while racing. Keep in mind that these will not guarantee a victory but it could help you become a better racer if you are able to pinpoint areas that need improvement.

You do not have to invest your time and money into all of these in order to become a better sailor. But the addition of these items can potentially make or break you getting ahead in races with an understanding of the little details that you are likely missing.

The Airmar DST 810 streamlines speed calibration with its integrated attitude sensor and even has the free CAST app that eliminates the need for expensive computer software. Racers can obtain heel-compensated speed at various angles and ranges.

The 5Hz output allows you to make swift decision-making on the water. This sensor is moderately priced at $399 but it can also measure depth and water temperature (to a tenth of a degree). It can also support hull angles up to 22 degrees so that it can fit on many boats with curved hulls.

Dometic Steering Actuator

The Dometic Optimus outboard electric steering actuator provides racers with total power-steering capabilities with an adjustable parameter that can accommodate any traditional outboard motor. It has a tide tracker and other useful information to keep you up to date while racing. It also has a countdown timer for when you do compete in races to help keep track of when to pass the start line. I have used other marine watches in the past but this has been my favorite overall for its design and functionality.

Raymarine Axiom

If you do not want a sailing watch for the GPS capabilities then you should check out the Raymarine Axiom 9 . This allows you to see your instrument display with a variety of important information at your fingertips. They feature tons of memory for anything you want to put on it and I love that you do not have to pull cables through pipework to set up.

If you decide to combine this with other sailing instruments provided by Raymarine then you can tap into features such as cameras and autopilot. Those that want to enjoy fishing when they are not racing can also utilize the sonar feature among other instrument displays.

Garmin GPSMAP

If you want a similar experience to Raymarine products you could opt for the Garmin GPSMAP that doubles as a chartplotter and sonar. It can connect to other Garmin related products on your boat which makes sense if you want everything to work together while racing.

It has a clear display and excellent sonar features that allow you to see what is around you underneath. This lets you have some idea of whether or not you can race in shallow waters in new areas. I enjoy not having black boxes and sharper resolution compared to other brands.

QWORK Battery Monitor

Depending on what type of boat you have you will likely need to keep an eye on your battery to ensure it is operating like it should be. This is where an excellent battery monitor comes in handy like the one by QWORK . It lets me know if my battery is becoming weak or if I have power being zapped from something left running.

It features an easy to read LCD display that gives you all the information you need to check the battery life on your boat. It can also store the last voltage reading after the system shuts off so you know that the battery is charging effectively or if you need to take action.

New Electronics for the New Year

As we dive headlong into 2022, there are a slew of new products to make our boating and fishing easier, safer, and more productive.

Garmin Surround View

No matter how good a captain you are, this system will make you better. Six low-profile, polished-stainless-steel, 1080p wide-angle cameras are arranged around the boat to give a bird’s-eye view of nearly every linear inch of its ­perimeter in real time. The ­perspective is unique, like watching yourself from above. The Surround View system stitches together live video from a pair of cameras on the starboard beam and a pair on the port beam with the ones at the bow and stern. A tap of any individual cam in the display menu bar will make it appear full screen for a closer look. You can ­predesignate fender boundaries to warn of possible collisions with docks or other objects. Distance markers can be set to desired margins so you always have your perspective on surroundings. You might not think you need it, but if you try it, you’ll want it. The system works on select Garmin GPSMap displays and Volvo Penta Glass Cockpits. At this time, it’s a dealer-installed option only.

Siren Security

Ideally, your battlewagon would never go unattended. With Siren 3 Pro, it will always be virtually manned. The system communicates directly—and immediately—with you and as many recipients as you name via cellular service or a Globalstar satellite module, sold separately. As your boat leaves cellular range, the satellite module kicks in. When it returns, the system automatically reconnects to the cellular signal and deactivates the satellite. Should the location of your boat move outside your selected geofence, if anyone tampers with an entry point, or if motion is detected on board, a text and email are sent. The shore-power sensor will let you know if someone unplugs the power, while battery sensors will keep you apprised of voltage. Bilge-water levels are watched like a hawk, and pump-cycle counters will let you know if your system is handling a leak. Once you have connected the system to the same N2K network the engines are on, Siren will record all engine metrics to simplify maintenance and troubleshooting. Relays can turn off and on lights, ­batteries and more. The whole system is app-based, and the ­wireless sensors can be activated via the app. Installation is easy for the Siren Pro with minimal tools and time.

Raymarine Cyclone Radar

Today’s large sport-fishers are ­pushing 50 knots, and some center-consoles are hitting 70 mph, so it’s no wonder Raymarine found a market for its 100-knot wind-rated Cyclone radar. These solid-state, chirp-pulse compression arrays come in 3-, 4-, and 6-foot ­models with 55- or 110-watt outputs. They are packed with useful tech such as a 60 rpm speed for ultimate detail. Known for their accurate bird-mode setting, these digital radars put plenty of energy on the target for a clear picture. Another cool feature is Range Fusion, which gives long-range capability without disrupting closer targets that impact navigation. For example, skippers can set the radar to bird mode and track birds at long range while maintaining view of closer targets important to safe navigation. It can track 100 targets with crisp detail even at high speeds. Cyclone radar works well with select Raymarine displays.

Icom M510 VHF

This Class-D VHF radio puts out 25 watts of power and is available with or ­without automatic identification system. The 3-inch full-color screen can be set to night mode with a red screen. The screen gives AIS information—if you choose that model—tracking other AIS-transponding vessels. While the face of the VHF gives plenty of real estate for the big screen and tactile controls, it extends only 2 inches behind the dash panel. It features Icom’s renowned AquaQuake function to clear water from the speaker, as well as active noise canceling for clear sound over motor and sea background noise. The supplied mic is a fully functioning controller with microphone and speaker, but adding the optional HM-195GB Command Mic provides a second station when combined with an extension cable. There’s a second mic port on the back of the unit. Icom’s exclusive free RS-M500 app lets smartphones connect and function as a remote mic, with full ­touchscreen ­capabilities, including data entry and direct ­hailing via digital selective calling numbers. For NMEA connectivity, add the N2K Interface and hailer/PA function.

This free app from Simrad works like a handheld chart plotter. The details are extremely sharp, contours precise, and it includes auto-routing, which allows you to select a starting point and a destination, and then let the app set the preferred route. A trip from Fort Myers, Florida, up to the Vinoy Renaissance in Saint Petersburg took me inside the Intracoastal Waterway for a majority of the way. To run outside in the Gulf, I simply selected manual planning, and then tapped and set my preferred waypoints. To adjust, long-touch and then drag them one by one. Routes, waypoints and even current location can be shared at an individual’s discretion. Tides and weather forecasts are included, and current weather conditions—such as rain, wind, gusts, air temperature and pressure—are overlaid on the chart. AIS traffic can also be overlaid. For a $15 upcharge, depth shading, AIS traffic and actual navigation are available in the “premium mode.” It works on iOS and Android devices.

And as you’ll read in this year’s annual guide to electronics from The Fisherman, even in total darkness, digital color night vision technology has become more readily available to the private angler!   So wherever we go, and almost whenever, we navigate with confidence and can see the contours of the marine bottom using the most detailed charts and chartplotters that were once exclusive to 100-ton masters license holders running the largest vessels out there.

So in 2023, we’ll likely see a new buzzword introduced into marine electronics jargon, “system integration.” With some of the larger players like Brunswick, Yamaha and others vertically integrating more diverse types of marine electronics into their corporate infrastructure, the big boys want to be more in charge of their own destiny.  That being said, let’s get right into what’s new in the world of marine electronics for all of us in the general fishing/boating public.

Although Furuno will introduce some top secret marine electronics at the 2023 Miami Boat Show, there are a few new noteworthy items worth mentioning. Boaters with NavNet TZtouch, TZtouch2, or TZtouch3 systems and limited space for a Radar antenna will be excited to learn about a new option from Furuno that encompasses all of the Solid-State Doppler features that make their NXT Radars a must-have. Furuno’s new DRS2DNXT delivers all the features of the larger NXT Radars in a compact 19-inch Radome. The DRS2DNXT is the perfect solution for smaller vessels or those who desire a compact backup Radar with the same features and modes their larger Radar provides.

The DRS2DNXT utilizes the same, proven transceiver as the 24-inch DRS4DNXT, delivering powerful Solid-State Doppler Radar performance and a 48 nautical mile range. All of the same modes and features that are the hallmarks of the NXT series will be available, including Target Analyzer, RezBoost beam sharpening, FTT (Fast Target Tracking), Bird Mode, Rain Mode and dual-range capability. With Target Analyzer, target colors change in real time, allowing you to spot potentially hazardous situations at a glance. Green echoes are stationary targets, landmasses, or targets approaching your vessel at a velocity of fewer than 3 knots. Radar echoes dynamically shift to red when an object approaches your vessel at a speed of 3 knots or faster, independently of your own ship’s speed.

While a smaller antenna creates a wider beamwidth, Furuno’s RezBoost beam sharpening processes the returned targets to achieve equivalent resolutions of larger antenna arrays. RezBoost processing also enhances Furuno’s Bird Mode, a feature that automatically adjusts the Radar’s gain and clutter to detect flocks or even individual birds as they’re feeding on baitfish. Knowing where the birds gather is just one tool that fishermen use to get on the fish, and NXT series Radars automatically make those adjustments for you. With the Auto Acquire feature, targets in a 3-nautical mile range are instantly acquired and tracked automatically. The DRS2DNXT can track up to 100 ARPA targets simultaneously: 40 auto-acquired targets, 30 manually acquired targets and up to 30 targets within an operator-created guard zone.

Fast Target Tracking means that acquiring and tracking targets is instantaneous. These unique features can be used together, providing the ultimate utility, safety, and situational awareness. For example, enabling Rain Mode paints areas of precipitation in blue. With Target Analyzer enabled, targets masked within the rain that are approaching your vessel at speeds greater than 3-knots are displayed in red. This combination of features allows you to pick out hazardous targets within the squall easily and automatically. The DRS2DNXT works with NavNet TZtouch, TZtouch2, and TZtouch3.

Also new for 2023 are the Furuno FR10 and FR12 standalone Radar Displays. With most of the industry’s attention focused on multi-function displays (MFDs), standalone electronics often take a back seat on a boater’s wish list. However, Furuno knows that standalone radars still have their place and with that in mind, Furuno has unveiled a new series of standalone Radar Displays with options tailored to meet the needs of nearly any vessel. The 10.4-inch FR10 and 12.1-inch FR12 Radars are designed for use with Furuno’s award-winning DRS antenna series, including the Solid-State Doppler (NXT) or traditional X-Band Magnetron (X-Class) antennas.

It’s no secret that Humminbird MEGA Live Imaging has given anglers an unprecedented real-time view under the water and a better understanding of how to trigger more bites. Historically, the ability to keep your boat over productive fish-catching locations (without anchoring) was limited to sticking your bow into the wind/seas and running the boat at idle speed…stemming the tide. But if the wind or current is running off your quarter or beam, you’ll drift off sideways away from your target. Most of the major outboard manufacturers offer a proprietary joystick piloting feature that will keep you in place, once you save a GPS position and instruct it to hold that spot. The electronic joystick controller works with your onboard GPS to operate the engines independently, shifting gears, adding throttle and steering them in different directions to get this done, but this is a very expensive item.

If you can’t afford a 30-something foot twin, triple or quad outboard rig with a fuel sucking joystick controller, Minn Kota’s Riptide Terrova electric trolling motor with Spot Lock might be an excellent alternative for controlling your craft. The Terrova is a real force-multiplier in the wreck fishing game. The term “trolling motor” is a bit of a misnomer. You can use it in the classic sense as a straight-up electric trolling motor, but this special tool does considerably more. When drifting near a wreck in moving water, the Terrova can help slow things down by providing just the right amount of reverse thrust to achieve and maintain that “perfect” drift speed to get consistent bites. Sirius and Raymarine recently announced that the SiriusXM Fish Mapping service, which is designed to help saltwater anglers locate fish faster and save fuel, is now available on Raymarine’s Axiom line of chart plotter displays. SiriusXM Fish Mapping provides regularly updated, science-based fishing data directly to compatible Axiom displays using the SR200 SiriusXM Satellite Weather receiver and running Raymarine’s new version of the LightHouse 4.1 operating system.

The SiriusXM Fish Mapping service is also available on select products from all major marine electronics manufacturers. Fish Mapping provides eight distinct features to identify the most promising areas to fish in North American waters. Fishing Recommendations identify the areas that oceanographers recommend for zeroing in on six distinct target species. Plankton Fronts show locations of greatest plankton concentration next to relatively little plankton, particularly beneficial info when they occur near temperature fronts. Plankton Concentration contour lines show areas with dense plankton concentrations; baitfish feed on plankton which attracts gamefish. Sea Surface Temperature Fronts reveal significant temperature changes that create distinct boundaries between bodies of water, concentrating nutrients which attract bait fish. Strong and very strong fronts are good places to find game fish. Sea Surface Temperature Contour lines are simplified graphic representations of sea surface temperatures to help target areas where specific fish species can be found. Weed Lines show the most recent sightings of weed lines, which provide habitat for bait and gamefish.

Sea Surface Height Anomalies represent areas of upwellings, eddies and convergence zones where nutrient-rich water is favorable for finding fish. Sub-Surface Water Temperatures provide water temperatures up to 30 meters beneath the surface, to help identify where targeted game fish tend to hunt within their preferred temperature range. Anglers who already have SiriusXM Weather and a SR200 can easily upgrade to the SiriusXM Fish Mapping service.

The SR200 is easy to install and use, and its reliable antenna provides the best possible reception, even on the fringes of SiriusXM’s extensive coverage area (up to 150 nautical miles offshore). Consumers who do not yet have a SR200 receiver will need to purchase that and also sign up for subscription; the Fish Mapping service is $99.99 a month and includes all of SiriusXM Marine’s Weather information. SITEX/ECHONAUTICS TRANSDUCERS

The Si-Tex management team shared that they are currently working on a new series of GPS/echo sounder units that will be released sometime in the 2023 calendar year, with no specifics available as of yet. In the interim, there is now a new source of transducers for the marine electronics industry, offering American design, Italian manufacturing and compatibility with all major sounder and multi-function display brands.

Si-Tex has partnered with Italian manufacturer Echonautics to help alleviate the current supply chain issues for transducers for many electronics manufacturers, regardless of brand. The Echonautics line-up includes the BT87H1kW, a 1kw High Frequency CHIRP bronze flush-mount thru-hull that minimizes drag and provides superior high-speed performance. Its powerful output, 130 kHz to 210 kHz frequency range and narrow 8- to 13-degree beamwidth make this transducer excellent for pinpointing fish holding tight to reefs, wrecks and other structure. This model is available in 0-degree, 12-degree, and 18-degree tilted element versions to accommodate different mounting locations and hull styles.

The Echonautics product line includes a full range of high-performance transducer options including bronze and stainless steel thru-hulls, NMEA2000 Digital Sensors, dual-frequency transom mounts and more. Engineered to be rugged and reliable, the HX320 is designed to float and constructed to survive submersion with the IPX7 water resistant rating that requires it to endure 3.3 feet (1 meter) of water for 30 minutes with its rubber caps installed. A Look at New Electronic Gear for 2022

It’s fair to say that the marine industry is having a moment, likely spurred by at least three significant factors: the still-churning pandemic, a buoyant stock market, and historically low interest rates. While this is great news for ­many marine-facing businesses, the on-the-dock reality is that the brokerage markets have been scoured, and the wait times for new boats are being quoted in years rather than months. While this is quite a lengthy wait time, sailors looking for kit will find that the equipment tents at upcoming winter shows are filled with new innovations and electronics that can help breathe fresh life into the boat you have now. Here’s a roundup, then, of new electronics gear you might want to check out for any projects and upgrades that you’re pondering for 2022.

Airmar: If you’re interested in ­attaining next-level control, connectivity, and ­communication across your vessel’s various ­systems and networks, Airmar’s SmartBoat System is worth your attention. Third-­party sensors such as thermometers or DC-voltage monitors connect directly to a nearby SmartBoat module, which converts their protocol to NMEA 2000 and then wirelessly communicates this information with other networked SmartBoat modules over enterprise-grade Wi-Fi. 

This hybrid hard-wired/wireless architecture saves boat owners the cost and complexity of installing sensor hubs and cabling between modules, while also allowing owners (or installers) to check the status of their system and its sensors via Airmar’s CAST app or its SmartFlex View browser-based tool, the latter of which also includes user-configurable SmartFlex Alerts. Owners can connect a variety of NMEA 2000 and analog sensors to each SmartBoat module to know at a glance what’s going on from stem to stern. 

Fusion Entertainment: Stereo-­maker Fusion is (almost) never one to come to the fall-boat-show parties empty-­handed, and the 2021/2022 season was no exception. Fusion’s latest audiophile offerings include the MS-RA60 marine stereo, which delivers premium-level features and can be paired with the XS Series 6.5-inch speakers and 10-inch ­subwoofer, which combined, deliver ear-pleasing ­acoustics without breaking the bank. The ­MS-RA60 features clean-looking aesthetics and a user interface that includes a rotary knob, six hard buttons, and an anti-fogging, edge-bonded display. The stereo is built to IPX6 and IPX7 standards, and its Bluetooth connectivity ­allows it to be paired with a smartphone that’s running the Fusion-Link app. Once paired, users can control their ­MS-RA60 from their mobile devices (and/or ­compatible Garmin-built remote controls and smartwatches), and they can also use their smartphones’ cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity to deliver over-the-air software ­updates to their stereos via Bluetooth. 

On the acoustic side, the 200-watt XS Series 6.5-inch speakers (they’re also available as 240-watt 7.7-inch speakers) and the 600-watt subwoofer are built to IP65 standards and are available with ­interchangeable grilles to match one’s aesthetic preferences. And depending on your taste in style, the speakers can be purchased with optional red-green-blue LED accent lighting.

Garmin: The new-product ­announcements from Garmin fall into two ­categories: evolutionary and revolutionary. Garmin has been making (and ­refining) handheld marine GPS units since 1990, but what started as a metrics-­only navigation device has evolved into the GPSMap 79 Series handheld, which delivers a graphically rich, full-­color nav station that easily fits in one’s pocket. The handheld comes loaded with upgradable global base maps, or users can upgrade to the GPSMap 79sc, which comes standard with Garmin’s premium ­BlueChart g3 cartography. Both handhelds ­feature optically bonded, sunlight readable and scratch-resistant screens; a built-in three-axis compass; and the ability to get position information from the GNSS ­satellite constellation. Conveniently, the new handhelds also include 8 gigabytes of onboard memory that can store, say, 10,000 waypoints and 250 routes. The units’ ­batteries are good for up to 19 hours of navigation between refills.

Garmin’s biggest new-equipment ­announcement isn’t available for the ­aftermarket (yet), but it’s highly innovative and designed to work on new boats up to 80 feet LOA. SurroundView is made up of an array of six Garmin-built 1080p color daylight video cameras, a ­dedicated black-box processing unit, a ­compatible Garmin chart plotter, and Garmin’s image-­stitching wizardry, which the ­company honed through its work with its VIRB 360 cameras. The camera array consists of one forward-looking camera, two cameras each on port and starboard, and a single 180-degree-view stern-facing camera that’s mounted up high to provide stern clearance.

Once a SurroundView system has been factory installed and calibrated, it delivers a 360-degree bird’s-eye video view around the boat, as well as Distance Markers and Visual Bumpers. Distance Markers are similar to automotive-style backup ­graphics that give anyone on the helm a precise graphical reference for how far their sailboat is from a dock or other object, while Visual Bumpers are graphical (and user-defined) margins showing the water separating hulls from docks. Both Distance Markers and Visual Bumpers are overlaid atop SurroundView’s real-time video feed.

SurroundView employs color ­differentiation, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality to differentiate between water and objects. While this helps defang docking, the system can ­also differentiate between water and, for ­example, kayaks or dinghies.

As of this writing, SurroundView ­provides only visual warnings (other alarms are expected), and its sensor input is limited to its six-camera array, but down-the-road updates could pull in other technologies such as light detection and ranging technology (think of the driver-­assist sensors in your car), high-­precision GPS receivers (such as Garmin’s still-new multiband GPS xd24 sensor), vector cartography, additional artificial intelligence layers and, eventually, helm and throttle controls. (Expect this latter capability to start on the powerboat side.)

Icom: VHF communications isn’t new, but this doesn’t mean innovations can’t still be realized. Icom’s M510 is the first in situ VHF from a mainstream VHF manufacturer that gives users wireless command over their radio using a paired smartphone. The M510 broadcasts at 25 watts and can be paired via Wi-Fi with up to three wireless devices that are running Icom’s RS-M500 mobile app (Android- or iOS-friendly). Icom makes two versions of the fixed-mount radio: the standard M510 and the M510-AIS, the latter of which includes a built-in Automatic Identification System listen-only receiver. Aside from AIS, both versions feature identical 3.5-inch color LCD screens, active noise cancellation and NMEA 0183 connectivity (users can add an optional CT-M500 box to add NMEA 2000 compatibility).

Iris Innovations: All sailors can ­appreciate the benefits of bolstering ­onboard security, especially when it comes in an affordable package. Iris ­Innovations’ S460 camera comes bundled in a ­rugged 316 stainless-steel dome, boasts an IP66 weatherproof rating, and features a 1.8-millimeter wide-angle lens that delivers a 160-degree horizontal field of view, plus infrared capabilities with a range of 30 feet. The IP-enabled high-­definition camera has 3-megapixel sensors and is compatible with B&G and Raymarine chart plotters, TimeZero, and some PC-based navigation software. The camera measures 2.28-by-2.36 inches; once ­fitted, it supports multiple streams and ­allows users to tweak a menu of settings, including brightness, contrast and color.

KVH: One of the few silver linings from the past two years is the ­greater ­acceptance of working outside the ­office, provided, of course, that one has a ­reliable internet connection. KVH’s TracPhone LTE-1 Global gives ­cruisers the ability to access the internet using cellular networks from up to 20 miles offshore in more than 150 countries. The TracPhone LTE-1 Global ­accomplishes this by leveraging a high-gain antenna ­array, a GPS receiver, automatic network switching, and built-in Wi-Fi that allows the system to share its cellular-based connectivity with paired smartphones, tablets and PCs. While speed and coverage depend on local third-party ­cellular providers and the mounting location of each system’s onboard antenna (the ­higher the antenna, the better), KVH ­advises that under normal conditions, the TracPhone LTE-1 Global is fast enough to support video conferencing, HD-content streaming, web browsing, email and voice calls. Users buy their airtime from KVH as well, so hardware and service are compatible. The LTE-1 comes bundled in a sailboat-friendly dome that measures 13.5-by-13.3 inches and weighs 6.25 pounds; its single power and data cable purportedly makes for a DIY-friendly installation.

Sirius Signal: Back in the ­proverbial day, sailors had to remember to check the expiration date of their flare kit or else risk a write-up from the Coasties. Sirius ­Signal changed all that with its ­emergency flares that replace pyrotechnics with ­United States Coast Guard-approved LED-based devices. The company’s newest safety-­minded offering, the ­Supplemental Alert System, takes this to new heights (­literally) by coupling a high-powered ­electronic ­visual distress device—essentially an ­electronic flare—with a standard masthead light. Once installed, users can switch between standard navigation and anchoring modes and the system’s ­emergency mode, the latter of which triggers the alert system to flash SOS in both visible ­color (red-­orange-cyan) and infrared light. The system’s masthead mounting ­location maximizes its visibility; this is compounded by the C-1002’s ultra-bright array of 13 LEDs, which Sirius Signal purports to be five times brighter than any other ­USCG-­approved electronic visual device. While it’s expected that the SAS will be sold as an original-equipment option on new builds, it’s hoped that it will also be available as an aftermarket upgrade. 

Sneak Peek at New Radars

While we’re planning a more in-depth look at radars later this year, both Furuno and Garmin have introduced dome enclosed radars that warrant mention now.  

Furuno’s DRS2DNXT features a 19-inch enclosed antenna that delivers 48 nautical miles of range using a solid-state transmitter. The system relies on Furuno’s proprietary Target Analyzer feature, which uses Doppler technology to assign various colors to targets to graphically differentiate potentially dangerous ones from benign objects, vessels and landmasses. Additional features include Furuno’s proprietary RezBoost beam sharpening, dual-range mode and Auto Acquire, the latter of which automatically tracks all targets within 3 nautical miles of the radar.

Garmin’s GMR Fantom 18X and GMR Fantom 24x radars employ the same architecture and deliver similar feature sets using different antenna lengths. The radars can be configured with either an 18-inch or 24-inch antenna, both with 50 watts of transmitting power, and—in a Garmin first—black or white radome enclosures. Garmin’s newest Fantoms all leverage solid-state transmitters and deliver Garmin’s proprietary Doppler processing, called MotionScope, dual-range mode and a sailor-friendly power-save mode.

Additionally, the app provides advanced-level camera settings, including exposure, focus and the ability to shoot in RAW format. Combined, they can add sophistication to your phone’s image-capturing capabilities.

“Breakfast & Lunch among friends”

The Breakfast Club has been a locally-owned Moscow breakfast staple for 12 years. The food is delicious, and the portions are appropriate (not gigantic). They have stuffed biscuits and gravy which is biscuits cut in half with eggs and bacon in the middle, covered in in-house made sausage gravy. If you are ever in Moscow in the wee hours of the morning, this is the place to stop!!!
