Motor Yacht

Luxury motor yacht JeMaSa, built in 2006 by Dutch shipyard Hakvoort, incorporates modern comforts, innovative designs and optimised privacy to create an ideal charter yacht. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, her naval architecture is by Diana Yacht Design while she features exterior design by Espen Oeino and the interior work of Michela Reverberi and Barbara Barry. This twin screw superyacht measures 49.99 metres and can accommodate up to 12 guests.

Motor yacht JeMaSa was never delivered to the initial owner who commissioned her, citing personal reasons and withdrawing from the project after two years of designing and planning. Her current owner, upon a tour of the Hakvoort yard took over the build, implementing a number of his own changes.

The elegant bridge deck is home to a neat wheelhouse designed by the captain himself that features handy designs such as a leaning post to reduce fatigue and DekaSis alarm monitoring systems that feature on a yacht of this size for the first time.

Aft is the salon, highlighted by its white-toned woods, and featuring three seating areas, bar and a guest office. Outside is a covered area with dining table for 12 and a semi-circular settee that is easily convertible into a wide bed for evening sleeping or an open-air cinema.

The crowning split-level sun deck has space for an alfresco dining area, a helipad platform with refuelling apparatus, and a well-equipped gym that glimpses a whirlpool tub abaft and a coverable sunbathing zone forward.

The main deck is divided into an owner’s suite forward and a main salon and dining area abaft by a large lobby and galley. Furthest aft are positioned two side decks boasting plush seating areas and space for buffet dining. Sliding glass doors are installed to act as wind-break, while air vents above the seating area provide climate control when the area is enclosed. Dressed in tones of beige and brown, the main salon and formal dining area are gloriously spacious with the dining table accommodating up to 12 guests.

Besides the guest and crew accommodation, the lower deck is home to a haven of relaxation with both a massage room and a spa located adjacent to the sleeping cabins.

Amongst Elizabeth F’s six cabins are an indulgent owner’s stateroom; two VIP suites; two double guest cabins; and a single cabin. The full-beam owner’s stateroom is located forward on the main deck and encompasses an office and lounge area. Boasting a teak finish, the stateroom also features an immense private bathroom with his and hers showers and bath area, and a cedar-walled dressing room.

The VIP and guest cabins are all found on the lower deck and are each equipped with en suite bathrooms. The single cabin is set-up in a bunk bed arrangement. Crew accommodation consists of five cabins and a mess which is accessed via a separate stairway connected to the main deck.

Luxury yacht JeMaSa is powered by two Caterpillar 3512B DITA diesel engines that allow her to reach a maximum speed of 15.7 knots.

Featuring a dedicated crew, she is an excellent charter yacht for luxury vacations. The yacht cruises comfortably at 13.5 knots while her crew of 12 under the direction of Captain Juan Koegelenberg ensure the needs of every guest are met.

The luxury motor yacht is equipped with an armada of water toys to provide endless entertainment during any yacht charter. Onboard watertoys include tenders, Wave Runners, a windsurfer, sailing dinghy, waterskis and a range of scuba diving, snorkelling and fishing equipment.

JeMaSa cruises the Indian Ocean in the summer charter season and Australian and South East Asia during the winter. She was built to Lloyd’s 100A1 specifications and is fully MCA compliant.

Fact Check: Claims That Captain of Boat That Hit Baltimore Bridge was Ukrainian Went Viral. Here's the Truth

A Ukrainian was captain of the Dali container ship when it crashed into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key bridge in late March 2024.

False ( About this rating? )

On March 26, 2024, a container ship named Dali lost power and crashed into a pillar of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key bridge, plunging parts of it into the Patapsco River below. The destruction of the bridge, which appears to have killed six construction workers , means the primary waterway into one of America's busiest ports is blocked.

In its immediate aftermath, and without a shred of evidence, pundits blamed  virtually anyone and anything — from Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives to COVID-19 lockdowns. One such claim that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) — especially on accounts that historically push pro-Kremlin misinformation — attempted  to bring Ukraine into the story by falsely claiming that a Ukrainian man was at the Dali's helm during the crash:

The purported evidence in these and many other viral tweets came from a website — balticshipping.com — that serves as a database of shipping vessels and jobs in the shipping industry. Like LinkedIn, users can post their job experience in the industry, and employers can use that information to make hires. If users post that they served on a particular ship at a particular time, their information will also appear on Baltic Shipping's page dedicated to that vessel .

The screenshot at issue shows two individuals who once listed the Dali as part of their employment history on the Baltic Shipping website. One of the two people (whose profile on Baltic Shipping is no longer visible) was a Ukrainian man who had been the master (or captain) of the Dali nearly a decade ago, from March to July in 2016:

A Ukrainian's leadership of the Dali for a few months in 2016 is wholly irrelevant to an incident in March 2024. Further, the corporate owner of the Dali, Synergy Marine Group, has stated that the crew of the ship during the incident was composed entirely of Indian citizens:

The entire 22-member crew of the cargo ship that struck a major bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday, causing it to snap and plunge into the river below are Indians, the company said. The Singapore-flagged container ship "Dali" collided with one of the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore at approximately 1:30 am local time. According to the vessel information provided by the Synergy Marine Group, the crew was "All Indian, 22 in total."

On top of that information, it is also relevant to note that — regardless of who was captain of the Dali in March 2024 — a Port of Baltimore employee was piloting the ship at the time of the crash. By law, ships engaged in foreign trade must be brought to the Port of Baltimore by a pilot employed by the State of Maryland. As explained on the Maryland Pilots Association website:

Each ship engaged in foreign trade coming to Maryland ports is required to take on a local ship handling specialist, known as the Pilot, to navigate the vessel safely into port. Pilots are regulated by the State of Maryland under the Department of Labor, State Board of Pilots. The State Board of Pilots oversees the selection, training, licensing, and regulation of all State Pilots. The rates and charges for the service the Pilots provide are established by the Maryland Public Service Commission. Maryland's Pilots are on call around the clock every day of the year no matter what the weather conditions may be.

Because a Maryland pilot was at the helm of the Dali at the time of the crash, because the Dali crew was entirely Indian, and because the individual alleged to be the Ukrainian captain on the Dali served in that role nearly a decade ago, we rate the truth of the claim as "False."

Sail with ‘the love boat’ famous original tv cast on princess cruises.

Feeling the love? Seas the day and time travel to yesteryear with future-forward Princess Cruises , when the original cast of TV’s iconic The Love Boat show—which aired for a decade on ABC; now streaming on Paramount Plus , Apple TV+ and other channels—sets sail from New York City on a round-trip voyage that anchors at picturesque ports in New England and Canada aboard the Enchanted Princess, August 31 - September 7, 2024 .

Original cast of The Love Boat.

This romance-themed rendezvous reunites actors Jill Whelan (whose role as Vicki Stubing, the ship captain’s daughter, was delightful), Bernie Kopell (as Doc), Fred Grandy (as purser Gopher) and Ted Lange (as bartender Isaac). They will interact with passengers at multiple events: a jubilant sail-away; a meet-and-greet, photo-and-autograph session; guests’ activities replete with prizes; and Q&A gatherings. There will also be a symbolic renewal of passengers’ wedding vows, officiated by the cast, with commemorative certificates.

Princess Cruises arranges wedding vow renewals.

In addition, classic comedy-drama episodes of The Love Boat will be shown at its Movies Under The Stars program outdoors on a gargantuan screen. The Love Boat trivia contests will be cheered. And cocktails to complement The Love Boat vibe will be toasted. Ezra Freeman, Princess Cruises’ real-life bartender who starred on The Real Love Boat —a reality-dating series that premiered on CBS in 2022; now streaming on Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime —will join this spirited celebration.

The Love Boat: A Top Travel Influencer

This popular series (from the 1970s and ‘80s) introduced millions of American TV viewers to cruising, propelling the rise of passenger ships by showcasing life on the high seas as a fun, festive, fashionable, family-friendly and romantic vacation choice. It transformed travel horizons. Episodes spotlit a lively array of well-known guest-star celebrities. Story lines varied, but plots always concluded happily, further solidifying its audience draw. Now in worldwide syndication, reaching more than 90 countries, original The Love Boat episodes have been translated into more than 30 languages.

Ship-Shape Interview: Jill Whelan

Actor Jill Whelan, who is now a Celebrations Ambassador for Princess Cruises, and I talked about her passion for sailing.

Laura Manske: Two years ago, Princess Cruises orchestrated its first The Love Boat theme reunion, which sailed the Mexican Riviera. There continues to be strong sentimentality for its original cast.

Jill Whelan: Anytime I get together with my cast mates, it’s like coming home because we’re family. I truly mean that. This will be our second theme cruise since 2022. We were all touched and overwhelmed by the incredible response from guests. Nostalgia for the show still gets people excited. Princess was the ocean-going co-star of The Love Boat. That is unique.

Manske: Your key anticipated moments with passengers ahead?

Whelan: Well, certainly our cast reunion in the Princess Theater, when we will share our favorite memories, laugh a lot and take questions from the audience. The renewal of vows we host is also incredibly sweet. So many couples renew their love for one another on The Love Boat . We get to play a part in their special day.

Jill Whelan (as Vicki Stubing) with the late Gavin MacLeod (as Captain Stubing), her TV dad.

Manske: You starred on The Love Boat aboard the Pacific Princess from the age of 11 onward.

Whelan: I was so young. Gavin MacLeod welcomed me with open arms and such warmth and love, as I was playing his daughter. Remember, I was coming into an already hit show and I was the youngest. So romance wasn’t a cornerstone of my storyline just yet. But Gavin made me feel at ease, as did all of the cast members. I remember trying to take it all in, learn from everyone who came on set and appreciate the places we visited on our Princess cruises.

Manske: How did the show influence your views about romantic love as a teen growing up with this series.

Whelan: I did have my first kiss on The Love Boat . Let’s just say it wasn’t as magical as I’d hoped. As Gavin always said: ‘The show gave people something to dream about.’ I did fall in love with the romance of the sea and connecting with people on vacation. I guess as any teenager would, I did have fantasies about falling in love and sailing off into the sunset. And that did happen for me when I met my husband, Jeff, in 2016. We can’t cruise enough these days. We absolutely love it!

Manske: Share something, perhaps surprising, that brings you joy.

Whelan: Many of the Princess ships’ horns play The Love Boat theme song. I hear people singing the theme song when I’m onboard—and it makes me smile.

Enchanted Princess.

The 3,660-passenger Enchanted Princess ’s round-trip reunion itinerary from New York City includes days in Newport, Rhode Island; Boston; Rockland, Maine; Saint John, Canada (for the Bay of Fundy); and Halifax, Canada.

The Love Boat reunion trip embarks and disembarks in New York City.
