The Hudson Water Club sits within a beautiful waterside setting against sweeping views of the Hudson River. Inside, striking terrazzo tile, vaulted ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows make for tremendous use of the natural views of the river. The restaurant's cuisine is contemporary American with a strong emphasis on seafood, and it was designed by our Executive Chef Geronimo Guzman.

The menu focuses on local ingredients and strives to feature seasonal items at their peak of freshness. Our diverse menus combine classic favorites with modern twists to be savored in surroundings of breathtaking river views and exceptional service and hospitality.

The Yacht Club, casual seafood restaurant with stunning skyline views, to open in Edgewater

At the new Yacht Club in Edgewater, you could almost imagine you’re at a picturesque lighthouse in Maine or Nantucket, if it weren’t for the sweeping view of Manhattan just across the water.

The relaxed seafood restaurant — the façade is a stout, white lighthouse — is set to open in the former Joe’s Crab Shack location on Aug. 26. It’s owned by Eliana Stefanitsis, whose family runs the Hudson River Restaurant Group that owns Molos in Weehawken.

“The Yacht Club has more casual, American seafood, as opposed to Molos which serves Mediterranean fine dining,” said Stefanitsis.

On the menu are Maine and Connecticut lobster rolls (the kind with mayo and the kind with butter, respectively), Maryland crab cakes, popcorn shrimp, lobster claw BLTs, oysters and sushi.

For drinks, the outside bar serves up wine by the glass and bottle, beer, cider, mocktails and smoothies.

Executive Chef Gregory Zapantis – a Greek chef who also worked at Molos – will oversee the kitchen. He was inducted into the Hellenic Chef’s Club for Greek chefs in 2011 and was the club’s first culinary ambassador to Greece in North America.

The Yacht Club also brought on Steve Song as the sushi chef. A graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education, he has worked at Masa, ABC Kitchen, DOMODOMO (all in NYC) and Sheli’s in the Square in Monsey.

“It’s an American place, but we’re trying to cultivate all different areas of seafood, which is why we specifically wanted a sushi chef” said Stefanitsis.

The 13,000-square-foot space seats 120 in the main dining room, 150 in the private upstairs dining room, 20 people at the bar, 30 people in the lounge, and 60 on the outdoor deck.

Right now, because of the ban on indoor dining, only the latter is open. But even if indoor dining were allowed, you’d probably want to sit on the deck, which opens up to the Hudson and to views of Manhattan.

Indoors, the design indoors features a wide marble bar, floor-to-ceiling windows in the main dining room, olive green walls and gold accented furniture imported from Greece.

Stefanitsis hopes to make guests feel like they are at a breezy, modern resort when dining at The Yacht Club.

The Yacht Club is located at 541 River Road, Edgewater.

Rupert Murdoch Marries for the Fifth Time

Mr. Murdoch, the 93-year-old media mogul, married Elena Zhukova, a retired molecular biologist, Saturday at Moraga, his Bel Air vineyard estate in Los Angeles.

Rupert Murdoch, who retired from the boards of Fox and News Corporation last year , walked down an outdoor aisle under blue skies to exchange vows on Saturday with Elena Zhukova, his fifth bride, at Moraga, his Tuscan-style vineyard estate in the hills of the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Ms. Zhukova, 67, carried a bouquet of white flowers and wore an ankle-length, off-the-shoulder white dress with a square neckline, reportedly designed by the London-based designer Emilia Wickstead ; Mr. Murdoch, 93, wore a dark suit with sneakers. Notable guests caught by paparazzi on the way into the ceremony included Robert K. Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, and Robert Thomson, the chief executive of News Corp.

The couple met through Mr. Murdoch’s third wife, Wendi Deng, according to The Daily Mail , which first reported their relationship last summer. Ms. Zhukova is a retired molecular biologist who immigrated to the United States from Moscow in 1991, just months before the Soviet Union collapsed. She was previously married to Alexander Zhukov, the billionaire energy investor.

There have been few public details about the couple’s courtship, with representatives for Mr. Murdoch staying mum, but The Daily Mail reported that shortly after meeting, Mr. Murdoch and Ms. Zhukova spent weeks vacationing together in the Mediterranean aboard the Christina O, a yacht that once belonged to Aristotle Onassis. Their engagement was announced in March.

Mr. Murdoch’s fifth marriage comes after a called-off engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, who is a retired dental hygienist and a conservative radio host. Last spring, he proposed to Ms. Smith but broke off the engagement after less than a month.

Ms. Zhukova’s marital history is less well documented. She met her first husband, Mr. Zhukov, now a British citizen, when both were students in the Soviet Union. Their marriage, during which they had a daughter, the entrepreneur and socialite Dasha Zhukova , lasted three years, according to The New Yorker.

A first walk down the aisle for Mr. Murdoch came in 1956, when he married Patricia Booker, a former flight attendant and model. They had a daughter, Prudence, before divorcing in 1967.

That same year, he married his second wife, Anna Maria Torv, then a journalist at one of his Australian newspapers. That union lasted 32 years, and they had three children: Elisabeth, Lachlan and James. All have worked for their father’s global empire; last year, Lachlan Murdoch was named Mr. Murdoch’s sole successor, becoming responsible for steering the media company his father started building from a small local newspaper in his native Australia 70 years ago. Mr. Murdoch maintains an emeritus role.

In 1999, when Mr. Murdoch and Ms. Torv divorced, he and his third wife, Ms. Deng, a television executive born in China, married. They had two daughters, Grace and Chloe, and divorced in 2013. He met Jerry Hall, who is a model, actress and one of Mick Jagger’s former wives, the same year. They married in 2016 and had no children together before divorcing in 2022 .

Mr. Murdoch and his family have a net worth of nearly $20 billion, according to Forbes . His publicly traded company, News Corp, owns a portfolio of news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Fox News and Sky News Australia, and the book publisher HarperCollins. According to The Cut , Ms. Deng and Ms. Hall both signed prenuptial agreements before marrying Mr. Murdoch.

Moraga, the wedding venue, is where Mr. Murdoch first hatched his 2019 deal to sell most of Fox’s movie studio, FX and National Geographic to Disney. He bought the estate in 2013 for a reported $29.5 million . Among its former owners is the director Victor Fleming, whose credits include “The Wizard of Oz” and “ Gone With the Wind.”

When he retired in September, Mr. Murdoch told employees in a letter that for his entire professional life he had been engaged daily with news and ideas. “That will not change,” he wrote. “But the time is right for me to take on different roles.”

About Croton Yacht Club

The Croton Yacht Club was formed in 1957 by local Croton residents who shared a common interest in boating and passion about our great resource, the Hudson River.  In 1966 the Croton Yacht Club was established as a not-for-profit corporation and maintains this status today.

The mission of the club is to encourage the sport of boating, to promote the science of seamanship and navigation, to provide and maintain suitable facilities and anchorage for the recreation and social use of its members and to promote respect of the Hudson River through education and policies that reflect the commitment to sound environmental practices.

The Yacht Club operates a 120-slip marina for vessels up to 35 feet (length overall) with the average boat stored being approximately 25 feet. The marina also provides storage options for trailer boats and personal watercraft as well as canoe and kayak storage.

The Yacht Club leases the property from the Village of Croton and its operation is managed and fully funded by its membership. All assets, exclusive of the property, are owned and maintained by the membership. The Yacht Club provides general maintenance of the property, including access to areas surrounding the clubhouse where Croton residents are permitted and encouraged to fish, crab or simply enjoy the scenic Hudson.
