History and Description
With naval architecture by De Voogt and interiors by Bannenberg & Rowell, AZTECA is
a pedigree yacht with masses of potential.
Originally built for Mexican media mogul Emilio Azcárraga, whose primary concern
was speed, AZTECA’s hull was built in aluminium due to its lighter properties, but the
flexibility of the material in terms of moulding and shaping also led to it eventually being
used for the superstructures of all Feadships.
As part of her continual program of upgrades, in 1997 AZTECA had a 1.5m stern
extension at Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard and in 2008 she completed a
one year refit, which included significant structural work to the hull and other system
upgrades at Malta Superyacht Services. During 2014 her main engines went through W6 MTU service total rebuilt at 3,000 hrs. (Now has 5,900 hrs. May 2024)
In May 2024 she completed extensive refit in Turkey.

The classic 46.6m Feadship AZTECA (née LIONWIND) was built in aluminium by Feadship to a design by the iconic Jon Bannenberg. AZTECA has been regularly updated and refitted since her delivery in 1983. In 1997 she had a 1.5m stern extension at Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard, with subsequent refit work in Sydney in 2002, Cairns in 2007 and a one-year refit – with significant structural work to the hull, dry-docking work and other system upgrades – at Malta Superyacht Services in 2008.
The interior is as radical with cocoons of butter-soft, over-stuffed kid leather panels offset with hammered metal detailing and kilometers of thick polished Perspex handrails and details. Conventions were turned on their head. Television sets are housed in cantilevered leather-clad boxes rather than recessed into furniture units. This trend-setting superyacht of all time has inspired countless of designers. When onboard it feels like a journey into Bannenberg’s DNA. The glass-roofed solarium on the top deck and the snug, forward-facing observation saloon were years ahead of their time.
Azteca can accommodate 10 guests in 5 cabins consisting of a spit level master suite with independent access to the main deck, a main deck VIP suite, a further VIP suite on the lower deck and two twins, all with en-suite facilities.
Twin 3,000hp MTU engines give her a cruising speed of 18 knots and a range of 1,500 nautical miles at 15 knots.

Feadship Yachts for Sale
About feadship yachts.
There are yachts and there are Feadships. Feadship, aka First Export Association of Dutch Shipbuilders, is based in the Netherlands with roots dating back to 1849. The yacht builder was formed in 1949 when 6 Dutch shipyards came together to market superyachts to buyers in the United States. As Feadship’s influence increased around the world, so did the size of the yachts it delivered. Part of their reputation has been established by celebrity owners such as magazine publisher Malcolm Forbes, who commissioned the 46-meter superyacht HIGHLANDER, which was delivered in 1986. Another major name to build a Feadship is Apple’s late founder Steve Jobs, who had a hand in designing VENUS, a 78.2m gigayacht. Today, Feadship is a joint venture between De Vries (f. 1906), Van Lent (f. 1849), and De Voogt Naval Architects (f. 1913). Feadship is recognized as the world leader in the field of pure custom yachts. They take pride in giving their clients a blank page to create a superyacht that is unlike any other in the world. Thanks to this strategy, Feadship yachts for sale are some of the most sought-after yachts in the industry.
Feadship’s philosophy is: “clients have carte blanche to create whatever they desire, and we start with the assumption that everything is possible”.
Dutch Yacht Builder
Feadship has three yacht building facilities in Aalsmeer, Makkum and Kaag, and one design and engineering center, De Voogt Naval Architects in Haarlem.
The Largest Feadships
The largest Feadship ever built is 110m superyacht ANNA. She was delivered in 2018 with the naval architecture penned in-house by De Voogt. Key features include a dramatic architectural curve linking the main and upper decks, multiple balconies, and a landing pad for a tilt-rotor aircraft. Before ANNA was launched, the 101.5m gigayacht SYMPHONY held the crown for the largest Feadship. Symphony features a unique navy-blue hull and a 6m contraflow pool. Inside is a spacious 3,000 GT interior that can accommodate a total of 20 guests, while other onboard amenities include an observation lounge, gym, beauty salon, and massage room. Launched in Another notable Feadship is the 100m gigayacht MOONRISE, which marries sleek lines and a modern, masculine profile. A wide range of elegant details, long hull windows, a glorious grey hull, and a striking vertical bow add to the elegance of the design by Studio De Voogt.
Feadship has announced a giant new construction and refit facility in the heart of Amsterdam. In 2019, the trendy Western harbor area of the Dutch capital will be home to the fourth Feadship facility. Feadships of up to 160 meters in length will be launched from this new icon on the Amsterdam skyline.
Feadship Yachts History
Formed as a group in 1949, Feadship has roots that can be traced back further than a century. The generations of craftsmen who launched iconic boats under the leadership of the De Vries, Van Lent, and De Voogt families in the 1800s and first half of the 1900s are an integral part of the Feadship story.
A Pedigree Like No Other
The roots of the Van Lent yard go back to 1849, while the De Vries yard opened its doors in 1906. Also, the earliest De Voogt designs stem from 1913, giving Feadship a pedigree full of rich history. With an immense history of famous owners and an ongoing list of award-winning projects and innovations, Feadship is now firmly established in the lucrative market of yacht seekers. The list of VIP Feadship enthusiasts is ever-changing, but amongst others were: Henry Ford II with SANTA MARIA; Arthur Wirtz with his Feadship yacht BLACKHAWK; and James Ryder, who enjoyed his first Feadship Yacht JARDELL so much, he immediately ordered a larger one, named BIG R.
Feadship Craftsmanship
Feadship prides itself in its craftsmanship from the designers, painters, interior designers, welders, engineers, metalworkers, and composite specialists. Worth Avenue Yachts has a wide range of Feadship yachts for sale that embody this craftsmanship and standard of excellence.
Notable Feadship Builds
Feadship has a lengthy score of notable builds. In 1953 Feadship yacht CAPRI was crowned Queen of the International Motor Boat Show as the high quality offered by Feadship impressed judges and owners alike. Feadships such as CAMARGO IV have showcased innovative and high-tech features, for the year 1961, such as retractable stabilizer fins and air conditioning. In 1975, LAC II became the first Feadship to feature the work of an interior designer (Pierre Tanter) and Susan Puleo’s extraordinary glass interior on CIRCUS II in 1983 showed that this movement was here to stay. The 1980s was the decade that Feadship started incorporating the work of legendary exterior designers, including the amazing profiles drawn by Jon Bannenberg on yachts like AZTECA, PARAISO, NEW HORIZON L, CEDAR SEA, and THE HIGHLANDER.
Feadship now showcases its quality to a global audience with award-winning masterpieces such as TANGO, a superb example of seamless cooperation between builders, naval architects, designers, and owners.
Feadship yacht SAVANNAH became the first hybrid motor-superyacht in amazing style. She is the first superyacht to feature an eco-friendly blend of a single diesel engine, 3 generators, batteries, a propeller, an azimuthing thruster, and a streamlined hull shape.
Feadship yacht SOLEMATES became the world’s first fully MCA-compliant superyacht, while SUSSURRO featured jet propulsion and speeds as high as 46 knots. The wonderful WEDGE TOO set a new size record and featured an incredibly designed oval superstructure clad with oiled teak.
Feadship continues to provide turnkey solutions and handcrafted mega yachts.

As the owners' primary consideration was speed, aluminum was chosen because of its lighter properties, and Feadship was able to respond to this latest requirement. As well as being lighter, aluminum's intrinsic flexibility in terms of shaping and molding resulted in it eventually being used for the superstructures of all Feadships.
