How Much Does it Cost To Charter a Yacht in The Mediterranean?

Timing & Weather: The Mediterranean Yachting Season

The Mediterranean yachting season generally runs from April to the end of October. During the height of the season, in July and August, the climate is warm and sunny and the winds tend to be light. While this is the high season for all tourism, you can still easily avoid onshore tourists while afloat. The weather can also be good during the shoulder seasons.

Tip: Shoulder Season Means Value & Choice

Another good time to charter your yacht is generally on either of the shoulder seasons from April-May and September-October. These periods fall each side of the main summer season when the temperatures are still comfortable. September, for instance, is an underrated time of the year because the weather is usually good (if not too hot) but the sea is at its maximum temperature which is ideal for swimming. Here we will explore everything you need to know about the Mediterranean Yacht Season. From crew agents, marinas, accommodation, timing, transport, and key events to look out for.

When is the Mediterranean Yachting Season?

The Mediterranean Yachting Season runs from May to October. This is known as the Summer season (in the Northern Hemisphere), and these are the best months for cruising around the Mediterranean.

The Best Locations for you to Join the Mediterranean Yachting Season

There are a few locations where you can choose to position yourself if you are trying to find a job on a yacht.

Antibes (France) – The Best Location for Green Crew Entering the Yachting Industry

Antibes is one of the main yachting hubs in the Mediterranean.

Here you will find an abundance of crew housing options and an amazing network of crew agents located in the famous Port Vauban.

You also have access to the train which will take you down to Cannes or up as far as Genoa. So if any job opportunities or interviews come up, you can be there easily within hours. This is one of the main attractions of Antibes for job seekers.

It is a great idea to head out to some of the smaller marinas in Antibes as well as along the French Riviera while seeking work. Some of these marinas don’t have as strict security as you will find in Antibes.

• Port Vauban: the main marina right off the Old Town of Antibes
• Antibes Marina
• Port Gallice (Juan-Les-Pins): walking distance from the Old Town
• Port Pierre Canto: home to the Cannes Film Festival
• Port de Cannes Marina (Cannes)
• Port Hercule (Monaco): one of the most famous marinas in the world
• Fontveille Marina (Monaco)
• Port de Cap d’Ail (Cap d’Ail): Located between Monaco and Nice, this is a popular Super Yacht location

Antibes itself is in fact a small town, however the Yachts pack up in the marinas at the start of the season so there will be a lot of other crew seeking work.

Antibes Crew Agents

One of your best entries into the Mediterranean Yachting Season is through Yacht Crew Agents. These recruitment agencies are dedicated to placing crew on Yachts.

Once you have gone through the process of signing up online, it is a great idea to arrange an interview so they can meet you face-to-face.

Getting around Antibes

If you are located in Old Town Antibes, you can easily walk around the port. However, you may want to get yourself a bike or e-scooter to save your energy while walking between all the marinas.

Uber is an easy way to get around however it is not cheap if you are on a budget.

If you are looking to travel around the French Riviera, the train is a fantastic and easy option.

The Gare d’Antibes Train station is only a 15-minute walk from the old town. The most common train service on this route is operated by TER (Transport Express Régional) and connects Antibes to Monaco. The journey involves one transfer at Nice so be sure to check your destination.

Prices vary but you can expect to spend €6-€20 for a ticket depending on your destination.

Events to look out for near Antibes

If a Yacht is involved in a big event, the crew will always need extra assistance. So be sure to head over to these Marinas before these events and hand out your CV!

Palma de Mallorca (Spain) – Home to the Start of the Mediterranean Yachting Season

Palma is a Spanish island in the Balearics and a very popular destination for Yachts and crew alike. In fact, it is so popular that many yacht crew choose to call it home when they leave the yachting industry.

Palma is known to have a wide range of Yachts including both motor and sailing vessels.

Marinas in Palma de Mallorca

The best locations for dock walking in Palma are the various marinas in the Bay of Palma, Puerto Portals and Port Adriano.

Marinas in the bay of Palma to name a few include:

I must point out however that it is not easy to dock walk in Palma. The marinas are gated and security is tight. If you walk over with confidence and look the part, you may just get in.

Ideally, you want to know a Yacht or crew member in the marina. Network, network, network!

Crew Houses in Palma

If you are going to seek work in Palma, then your ideal locations to stay are Santa Catalina, La Lonja, or the Old town.

As with any popular Yachting destination, you will need to book your accommodation well in advance.

Getting Around Palma de Mallorca

Getting around Palma couldn’t be easier. The good old Bus. It is easy, cheap, and efficient.

You will want to use the EMT bus as there are an abundance of bus stops and they travel all through the city.

The fare for the EMT bus is €2, and they take CASH ONLY.

Please note that in the summer months, these buses get very busy, and sometimes they will pass bus stops if they are too full. If you have an interview or job lined up, be sure to head out early to allow for delays.

Palmas Big Events during the Mediterranean Yachting Season

The Palma International Boat Show is known to inaugurate the Mediterranean Yachting Season. This 4-day event hosts spectacular yachts both for sale and for charter.

The Yacht show usually happens at the end of April and marks the start of the Mediterranean Season.

You can expect to see over 250 boats on display during the show so the month leading up to this time would be an excellent opportunity for day work.

Timing for the Mediterranean

If you are looking for work in the Mediterranean, you can head over as early as February/March! There will be 2 categories of vessels to look out for:

The Yachts that Spent the Winter Season in the Yard

When the Winter season hits in the Mediterranean, it becomes bitterly cold and rainy. Some owners choose to leave their vessels in the Yard during the winter months.

Most yacht crew choose to leave these programs in the winter and these boats will run on skeleton crew.

Therefore, in February/March, these boats will start hiring crew again in order to start getting the boat operating and ready for the upcoming season.

Yachts that Head Over from the Caribbean

These vessels went to the Caribbean for the Winter and now they are crossing the Atlantic and making their way back to the Mediterranean to start a new season.

As these vessels arrive in March/April, they will need a lot of extra help getting cleaned and organized after the big ocean crossing they just did.

These vessels may also see crew changes as they head into a new season.

My advice here is to get onto Marine Traffic . Depending on where you have located yourself, you will be able to see as vessels are entering the harbor. You should make a point of being available to offer help as they arrive.

Visas and Passports Required for the Mediterranean Yachting Season

If you are not a European citizen, it is important to understand how you can get into Europe and how much time you can stay there. Your visa requirements will depend on your personal home country and passport.

A Schengen visa is a short-stay visa that allows a person to travel to any member of the Schengen Area, per stay for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes (Usually 90 days within 180 days).

Schengen refers to the EU passport-free zone that covers most of the European countries.

Currently, there are three types of Schengen visas that apply to non-EU seafarers:

• Transit (Type B) Schengen visa
• Short-stay (Type C) Schengen visa
• Long-stay (Type D) Schengen visa

Seafarers are likely to be issued with the Short-stay visa. This allows you 90 days within the Schengen area, at which point you would need to leave for 90 days.

Additionally, you also need to try to get yourself a multi-entry visa . This allows you to travel between the different European countries.

DO NOT OVERSTAY YOUR VISA! Keep a close eye on your days. If you overstay, you could be banned from coming back for 3 years or more.

My Favourite Hangouts during the Mediterranean Yachting Season

Over the course of my 10 years in the industry, there are a few spots in the Mediterranean that have really stood out for me. The options are endless but below is a list of a few of my favorite places to check out:

Rent a Scooter and drive along the coastline anywhere from Naples through Positano and into Amalfi. Stroll through the bougainvillea-lined streets and have lunch down near the port.

The APA is typically around 25 to 35%. of the yacht charter fee and is paid before the charter commences. The captain is responsible for logging all APA expenses, and you can view the expenses at any time during your boat charter. Any funds left in the APA at the end of your charter holiday are immediately refunded to you.

With warm (sometimes too warm) air and sea temperatures the season in the Mediterranean runs much longer than in more northern European climes, writes Lu Heikell .

Mediterranean sailing: The Balearic Islands

Located 50 miles off the Valencian coast of Spain, the Balearic Islands comprise the four main islands of Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca and Menorca, and several smaller islands including Cabrera and Espalmador.

Together they represent one of the most popular cruising areas of the Mediterranean.

Harbours , marinas and anchorages are dotted at convenient distances around the coast, allowing a mix of remote, secluded bays and cosmopolitan towns.

In high season it is undoubtedly busy, both on land and sea, but as well as forming stepping-stones while heading through the Mediterranean, they are well worth a visit if you have the opportunity.

The inland towns and countryside are well worth exploring as a surprisingly tranquil place away from the crowded coastal areas.

Marina prices are always high but can be eye-watering in high season, but the Port de Baleares ports are well worth seeking out for more reasonable charges.

Charter yachts are widely available. Anchorages abound, so in the settled summer months there are plenty of options. Each island has its own ‘flavour’.

Ibiza, the westernmost island, is known as the party island, and sadly much of the coast has been built up, leaving little genuinely untouched coast.

Formentera, and the adjoining island of Espalmador, are for the most part low-lying islands close south of Ibiza.

Its reputation is of a more laid-back relaxed vibe, and is comparatively undeveloped. In Puerto del Espalmador there is a good almost all-round sheltered anchorage.

Mallorca is the largest island, the cultural and political hub, and Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the region.

At 50 miles ENE from Ibiza, it can be reached in a long day sail. Bahia de Pollensa is a good jumping-off point for those heading to Menorca, and a decent spot to provision up if necessary.

Menorca, the easternmost island, is known for its rugged beauty, and in Mahon has one of the largest natural harbours in the region.

Tuscany & the Tuscan Islands

The Tuscany coast runs from Viareggio and Pisa down to Monte Argentario in the south. Offshore lie the main Tuscan islands of Capraia, Elba and Giglio.

The Tuscan archipelago is a popular cruising ground for yachts and the patchwork of islands between Corsica and the mainland provide conveniently spaced stepping stones.

The islands are covered by the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, which has restricted areas on all the islands, and the islands of Gorgona, Pianosa and Montechristo are totally prohibited areas.

The Tuscan mainland offers little in the way of anchorages, but the major towns of Viareggio, Pisa and Livorno all offer visiting berths that shouldn’t break the bank, and fine bases to explore the renaissance city of Florence, the Etruscan coast and to experience the famous Viareggio autumn carnival.

The islands are a natural escape, with more opportunities to anchor , though certainly fewer than around the Balearics. Capraia lies just 16 miles east of Cap Corse and is a former prison island.

Aside from yacht traffic there is little to disturb this largely tranquil place.

Elba is the major island, well known as the subject of the Napoleonic palindrome ‘Able was I ere I saw Elba’.

The coast is much indented and there are numerous attractive harbours and anchorages.

Portoferraio is the main harbour, built under the walls of the 16th century citadel and lined with handsome 18th century merchants’ houses.

Depending on the wind direction good shelter can be found on the north and south coast, while Porto Azzurro on the east coast is another picturesque gem.

Isola del Giglio and Isola Giannutri are the southernmost islands and the anchorages here can be busy, but remain a cooler option than the mainland in the heat of the summer.

Greece and Turkey

Greece and Turkey are undoubtably two of the most popular destinations for sailors in the Mediterranean.

Whether you decide to base your own boat here, or charter a yacht for a shorter visit, few fail to return to this sailing paradise.

Depending on your experience levels, or your inclination, each region offers something for everyone – the gentler winds of the Ionian, the remoteness of the Peloponnese, the boisterous breezes blasting through the Cyclades islands, cosmopolitan Istanbul, or the late summer warmth of the Dodecanese and the southern Turkish coast.

You will find the stamp of history jostling with modern day life literally everywhere you go.

Our picks to escape the busiest spots in Greece would be the southern Peloponnese around Kalamata, northern Greece with Kavala, Thasos and Samothraki, and the Cyclades, Eastern Sporades and northern Dodecanese, using either Mitilini (Lesvos) or Lakki (Leros) as a base.

In Turkey, long-term berthing options are available at reasonable prices, and it has the benefit for UK visitors that stays here do not eat into your Schengen time allowance.

You can sail into the heart of the city in Istanbul, or explore the extensive natural anchorages between Bodrum and Finike on the south coast.

The Gulf of Gokova and the Gulf of Fethiye remain very unspoilt and hold some of our favourite anchorages.

Turkish food, Turkish hospitality and, of course, Turkish carpets are all legendary and will be found everywhere, though they say that the best carpets come from Milas, near Bodrum.

Mediterranean sailing: What you need to know

Mediterranean summers are generally warm, sometimes very hot, and settled.

Shoulder seasons are warmer than Atlantic coasts, with seasons extending the further south and east you go.

Sailing and swimming in southern Turkey in early November is not unusual.

Yachting Season in the Mediterranean: Where to and When?

In linguistic terms, ‘Mediterranean’ means nothing other than ‘centre of the world’. This should not be surprising, because, for the Romans who coined the term, the Mediterranean was the centre of the then-known world. Basically, the Mediterranean region is the origin of culture and civilisation in the Western hemisphere.

Where exactly is the Mediterranean?

The Mediterranean Sea lies between the continents of Europe, Africa and Asia. There are some secondary seas and bays, such as the Ionian Sea, the Adriatic Sra and the Levantine Sea in the eastern part of the area. In Europe, the Mediterranean Sea touches the countries of Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Albania, Greece, Turkey and many more.

The best-known islands, island groups and peninsulas in the Mediterranean are the Balearic Islands (e.g. Mallorca), Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Crete, Rhodes, islands in Croatia and Cyprus. Which period is the best to charter a yacht?

The best time to travel to the Mediterranean is from spring to autumn. You can expect a warm, dry climate in the region with a long sailing season. The summer months between June and August have the hottest days and warmest sea temperatures, so it’s an ideal time for your Mediterranean yacht charter.

If you want to avoid high prices and crowds, travel during the Mediterranean’s shoulder seasons of spring and autumn. You’ll avoid the crowds, the cost of ports and moorings can be lower, and you can still enjoy amazing weather conditions.

Sailing conditions in the Mediterranean vary depending on where you are sailing. Some regions have wind systems that require more sailing experience and it may be a good idea to hire a skipper. Greece’s Ionian Islands are popular for their calm winds. Wind systems vary and include bura (bora) and jugo in Croatia, meltemi in the Greek Cyclades , tramuntana in Spain, and mistral on the Cote d’Azur, Sardinia and Croatia.

Whether you’re looking to escape the brisk winds of winter or the humid climates of summer, it is important to understand the charter seasons and how they may affect the planning of your private yacht charter. A charter season can refer to the weather pattern of a destination or the peak times when the demand for yacht charter is at its highest. Read on to find out more about the charter seasons and what they mean.

When referring to a charter season in terms of weather and climate, the seasons are broken into "summer" and "winter" whereas when speaking in terms of peak times, the seasons are "high" and "low" with high season being the busiest times and low referring to the slowest. It is important to understand that, although somewhat misleading, a charter “season” refers to periods of weeks as opposed to full seasons.

Ultimately, most charter yachts are built for warm climates and although some may be equipped with air conditioning, they are far less likely to have heat installed as when predominantly cruising in warm destinations such as the Caribbean or Mediterranean, there is simply no use for it. With this in mind it is important to understand that seasonal weather will affect the location of the majority of crewed yachts, which will move from one region to another, in line with the charter seasons. When choosing a charter destination ensure to establish the best cruising months as this will allow you to choose from a wider selection of yachts. For instance if you’re looking to charter in Alaska, be aware that come the winter season there will be very few marina’s open. If you have your heart set on a particular location, ensure to plan for the appropriate time of year.

The summer and winter seasons may overlap, particularly from year to the next and summer in one destination may be winter in another. When looking to charter in the summer, winter or all year round, here are some of the most popular destinations for yacht charter.

Typically, the summer season ranges from April/May to October. The most predominant locations to charter in the summer season include the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the America’s and the South Pacific.

How Long Is a Yacht Charter Season?

Every charter destination has a “yacht charter season,” which refers to the months when cruising conditions are ideal and charters are most popular. For example, some destinations have a summer season like the Mediterranean, while others are winter charter season destinations (like the Caribbean).

But you might be wondering: How long is a yacht charter season?

Both summer and winter chart seasons last roughly six months. Yet, within each season there are also “high,” “low” and “shoulder” seasons. In both summer and winter, “high” or peak charter season – the time when chartering is most popular – lasts just 2-3 months.

Summer Yacht Charter Season

The Mediterranean is the world’s most popular summer yacht charter destination. The region’s beautiful temperate climate offers ideal conditions during the summer months, and hotspots like Cannes and the French Riviera, Italy, and Croatia beckon charter guests from around the world.

How long is the summer charter season?

Summer charter season in the Mediterranean begins in late-April and runs through mid-September. Summer in the Mediterranean not only brings warm, sunny weather; it’s also known for its many cultural affairs, like the Cannes Film Festival, the club season in Ibiza, and food and art festivals along the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

Throughout the Mediterranean, peak charter season is just two months: July and August. Many yachts are fully booked during the peak season, and rates climb by about 10%.

Alternatively, New England in the U.S. is another popular summer destination, yet the season is a bit shorter: from mid-June through August, with the high season running from mid-July to mid-August.

If you’re looking for a summer charter destination, spots throughout the Mediterranean offer respite from the heat and humidity. Top destination for summer yacht charters include:

French Riviera Known for its cosmopolitan beach clubs and rustic charms, the French Riviera – including Cannes, Monaco and Corsica – offer ideal summer cruising conditions. The French charter season mirrors most of the Mediterranean, but generally starts a bit later, in mid-May and runs through September. The summer season coincides with many events popular with charter guests, including the Monaco Grand Prix, the Cannes Film Festival, and Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Italy With numerous charter regions, including Sicily, the Amalfi Coast and the Italian Riviera, Italy might be the world’s most popular destination for summer charters. Italy offers a bit of everything: Excellent cuisine and wine, historic sites to explore, and plenty of culture and nightlife. Italy’s charter season runs May through October.

Croatia Croatia – and its numerous islands – make an ideal summer destination, thanks to cool breezes off the Adriatic and its warm sapphire waters. Throughout the season, Dubrovnik, Split and Hvar all beckon charter guests, who escape to Croatia’s sparkling beaches, and upscale, historic ports of call. Dubrovnik, the historic walled city, is a popular charter destination in the summer, and it hosts numerous festivals throughout the charter season.

Greece Sun-soaked Greece is home to nearly 10,000 miles of coastline, along with beautiful islands like Santorini. In the summer months, Greece offers plenty for charter guests to experience, including beautiful beaches, UNESCO sites, and excellent cuisine like moussaka and Restina wine. Greece’s charter season is a bit longer: from April through October.

Spain Spain’s Balearic Islands are a legendary summer season destination, thanks to the all-night clubs of Ibiza and the islands’ sun-soaked beaches. Spend a night clubbing in Ibiza, or explore neighboring Formentera, known for its natural landscapes and hiking trails. Majorca is another must-see island, known for its historic churches, swank beach clubs, and world-class dining.

New England From the coast of Maine, to Newport, R.I. and Martha’s Vineyard, the tranquil ports along the East Coast in the U.S. are perfect for summer charters. The destination offers it all: Cosmopolitan villages, classic lighthouses, excellent golf, windswept beaches, and National Parks to explore. Looking for another summer destination in the U.S.? Winter Charter Season

The Caribbean is a winter charter season mecca, as many escape the cold weather to the soak up the sun in the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Turks & Caicos, and the Grenadines. The Caribbean offers ideal cruising conditions throughout the winter months, including steady breezes (a must if you fancy a sailing charter), warm weather in the 70s and 80s, and hundreds of hidden beaches to explore.

Winter charter season is about six months long, and typically beings in late October, around the unofficial season kickoff, the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and runs through March. Thailand, Tahiti and the Seychelles, and the South Pacific are also popular destinations for winter charters (and have a similar season to the Caribbean).

In the Caribbean, peak charter season is in late December, during the holidays, through March. The shoulder season in November and mid-December are popular as well and offer fewer crowds and reduced prices.

The Virgin Islands Both the U.S. and British Virgin Islands are some of the most visited islands during the winter season. Known for their laid-back island vibes, incredible sailing, snorkeling and diving, the Virgin Islands are perfect for an adventurous, island-hopping winter yacht charter.

Tahiti Tahiti has fast become one of the most popular charter destinations in the South Pacific, and it offers the ultimate in privacy and natural beauty. With islands like Bora Bora and Moorea, as well as black sand beaches, French Polynesia is the perfect destination for escaping the cold to snorkel, dive, hike and enjoy the beach.

Thailand Thailand’s beautiful islands and tropical coast offer the best in winter chartering. Thailand is perfect for snorkeling and island hopping, Full Moon parties and lazy beach days. The destination’s tropical climate, making for perfect winter charter conditions.

Turks & Caicos Upscale, yet unpretentious, Turks & Caicos – which is comprised of seven main islands, and more than 40 uninhabited cays and islets – is an ideal destination or winter snorkeling. The island’s beautiful coral reefs teem with colorful fish, rays, turtles, and sharks throughout the winter months.

Some destinations offer chartering year-round. For example, Florida is one of the most popular destinations, no matter the time of year.

The Bahamas With hundreds of islands to explore, there’s a new adventure around every corner in the Bahamas. Boats still aren't safe from orcas as the Mediterranean yachting season kicks off and killer whales sink another yacht

• Killer whales took down another yacht on Monday as the Mediterranean yachting season begins.
• It's the latest incident of orcas clashing with boats, which has been on the rise in recent years.
• Marine biologists say the orcas are likely playing and may be learning the behavior from each other.

The Mediterranean yachting season has kicked off for the summer — and it didn't take long for another yacht to fall victim to a killer whale encounter .

A group of orcas sank a 50-foot sailing yacht in Moroccan waters on Sunday in the latest of several similar incidents involving the highly social species that have occurred over the past four years.

An unknown number of orcas were involved in the incident, which took place in the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain's maritime rescue service said Monday, according to Reuters .

The incident is the most recent in a spate of bizarre orca encounters with boats that have been on the rise in recent years, primarily in Mediterranean waters south of Spain, where many yachts cruise during the summer months.

Two passengers were on board the Alboran Cognac around 9 a.m. local time on Sunday when they felt sudden hits to the hull and rudder, Reuters reported, citing the maritime service. Water soon started to pour into the yacht.

A nearby oil tanker came to the people's rescue, saving them from the waterlogged ship and delivering them to land.

But the yacht wasn't as lucky. The Alboran Cognac stayed adrift for a time until it ultimately sank.

Since 2020, hundreds of similar encounters between boats and orcas have been documented off the southern coasts of Spain and Portugal, often near the Strait of Gibraltar. And it's not just yachts. The orcas have also rammed into sailboats, and some mariners have even created heavy-metal playlists in hopes of deterring the killer whales — though experts say it'll do little to help .

Researchers say the clashes typically follow a similar pattern, with a killer whale repeatedly ramming into the rudder of a ship, often until it breaks and the boat is stranded. Most of the time, the ships are able to escape with minimal damage, but several boats have sunk .

While the so-called orca "attacks" may appear violent, marine biologists have said it's unlikely the encounters are actually malicious. Several experts told Business Insider last year that the orcas are probably just playing .

Andrew Trites, director of the Marine Mammal Research Unit at the University of British Columbia in Canada, said ramming into the boats may simply be a "playful activity that's gotten way out of hand."

Researchers have also said the killer whales may be learning the behavior from each other through simple imitation.

Crisp exterior lines drawn by Fulvio de Simoni Yacht Design in La Spezia, Italy, give Bel 1 a strong silhouette with vertical bow and high forward bulwarks. Large sweeps of glazing, accented by precisely placed and sized rectangular windows and chrome trim, echo automotive design while giving the yacht a distinctive profile.

Over four decks, Enrico Gobbi’s Venice-based Team for Design works its magic to create a yacht exhibiting “stylistic coherence with extra dimensions,” according to Rossinavi Chief Operating Officer Federico Rossi.

Not many yachts in the 50-meter range are able to accommodate a such a large flybridge. Fewer still have the design skills to pull off a staggered deck and aft mezzanine that open up the beach club area, aft main deck, and upper deck in a way that feels spacious and continuous. Bel 1 does both with effortless style.

‘Bel 1’ By The Numbers

Bel 1 ’s 49.9-meter hull has an 8.8-meter beam and 2.30-meter draft. The full-aluminum build maintains gross tonnage below 500. Powered by the reliability of diesel propulsion, the yacht is equipped with shaft lines and four stabilizer fins to keep the voyage comfortable in rough seas, Bel 1 is a traditional yacht with regard to those features.

The 145-square-meter sun deck is a notable achievement made possible by the extension of the superstructure. Spacious and continuous, the deck offers three distinct sections with something for everyone on board. The forward section focuses on a pool, offering a great view with privacy for guests. The aft section beckons guests to the sun pads for an open and airy sun-worshipping session. Connected amidships by the bar and sofa lounges under the protection of the hardtop, guests can share conversations, cocktails, and canapes from bow to stern.

Staggered decks on the stern serve dual purposes that might seem at odds with one another, but on board they are in perfect concert. Generous outdoor spaces are arranged on different levels to meet rather specific needs, putting alfresco areas in proximity to the aft areas of each deck. The result is a stern that looks to be a single, large, open area that maintains a sense of intimacy and privacy.

For instance, there is a mezzanine between the main and the upper decks that is an comfortable, intimate space in itself, yet also acts as an outdoor connection between the decks. A main deck cockpit is both a private and protected outdoor living area open to the beach club. Folding sides combine with the open aft hatch to transform the beach club into a large seafront terrace. Additionally, the main deck cockpit offers alfresco dining, but can be protected by sliding glass panels should the weather not harmonize with on board plans.

The coolest yachts in town for the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix

Every year, Monaco’s Grand Prix pulls in some of the fleet’s finest superyachts for a weekend of adrenaline-fuelled F1 action and A-lister events in the heart of the principality. Yachts moored stern to the circuit have a premium vantage point over the cars tearing around the track, while superyachts at anchor can enjoy all the Formula One buzz with the added benefit of privacy and seclusion.

Renaissance

Length : 111.9m Builder : Freire

Renaissance is the largest private yacht built in Spain and one of the world's most expensive charter yachts . Which is quite the feat for Freire, a commercial shipyard that has built only one private yacht in the past. With 7,200GT to play with, her list of amenities include a sushi bar, a dedicated hair and beauty salon, a ballet bar with a mirror for stretching and two cinemas – one indoor, one outdoor. The owner's deck is described as "palatial" and comes with its own a media room, a lounge with bar and dining and a private terrace with a Jacuzzi for six.

Length : 90m Builder : Benetti

Lionheart was launched in 2016 as the shipyard's largest build to date, though she was surpassed by the 107-metre Mar (ex Lana ) four years later. She was the third yacht to be ordered from Benetti by the same owner. While her curvy exterior and private balconies will be visible to those visiting Port Hercule this weekend, interiors have always been shrouded in secrecy. It is known that  Stefano Natucci  collaborated with Benetti on the exterior design and Green & Mingarelli Design  is responsible for the interior design.

Fountainhead

Length : 87.8m   Builder : Feadship

Created with family use in mind, Fountainhead features a recreation room and library that can be converted into cabins to supplement the six existing guest cabins and owner's suite. She was designed by De Voogt Naval Architects and Sinot Yacht Design , though "a signature blend of art, antiques and aesthetics" by Belgian artist Axel Vervoordt are also displayed throughout.  Leisure highlights include a fully-equipped gym with health club, a contra-flow swimming pool and a tender garage that houses wave runners, kayaks, surfboard and diving equipment, among others. The superyacht is named after the famous novel by Ayn Rand.

Coral Ocean

Length : 72.6m Builder : Lürssen

A World Superyacht Award winner, Coral Ocean earned the judges' commendation following a sensitive, multi-million refit that converted the heritage vessel into a successful charter platform. All deck spaces were upgraded, including a reimagined sundeck that now houses a glass-sided spa pool, sunbathing and observation deck and a central deckhouse with a television lounge, dining area and bar. Coral Ocean was one of the largest launches of 1994 and her secrecy for the first two decades of her life solidified her as an icon for the German shipyard.

Length : 72m   Builder : Lürssen

Delivered in 2006, Titania  (ex Apoise ) was put up for auction by her owner in 2010 and was snapped up for €33.75 million – roughly half the estimated value – by Phones4U tycoon John Caudwell. He then went on to refit, lengthen and rename the superyacht, which he discusses in an exclusive interview with BOAT International . Designed by Espen Øino and Francois Zuretti , the Lürssen was the star yacht in season six of The Crown and is a popular charter yacht. No wonder, as she sports a beach club that can be converted into a nightclub, an onboard masseuse and beautician and an impressive array of watersports – including a waterpark and a 12.7-metre slide.

Length : 70m Builder : Royal Denship

Force Blue first hit the water in 2002 as the 63.3-metre Big Roi , a trawler-style expedition yacht that has since been refitted to varying degrees. The most recent work was done at Lusben in 2022 and involved a seven-metre stern extension to allow for a large, wrap-around swim platform. The main deck was extended in the process as well. Design highlights include a black-tiled spa (with heated massage table), a cinema, a barbecue and dining area that turns into a disco and a dining room that doubles as a conference space. An elevator serves all decks.

Length : 67.5m Builder : Icon Yachts

The flagship of the Dutch shipyard, Loon (ex Icon ) is now anchored in Port Hercule where she is likely to cause another social media sensation . She was delivered in 2010 to a design by RWD , with clean, contemporary interiors by Studio Linse . A raised main deck pool is one of her many highlights with two panels of glass that filter natural light into the beach club below. A bar, gym, massage room and sauna are also found at this level. Loon was sold to a new owner in April 2023, after which she joined the charter fleet with IYC .

Length : 66m   Builder : Oceanco

AHS has undergone numerous name changes (she was sold and renamed mostly recently in January ) but started life as Dilbar in 2005. A successful charter yacht, she can be easily distinguished in port by her classic canoe stern. An interior by the late Alberto Pinto provides accommodation across eight cabins, including a full-beam owner's suite with its own lounge and adjoining private office. Other highlights include an outdoor cinema, a beamy sundeck with 19,000-litre pool and a helipad that transforms into a sun lounge.

Length : 49.9m Builder : Zepter

The Croatian yard's first superyacht offering, JoyMe is usually berthed in Cap d’Ail but has been sighted in Monaco for the past two Grands Prix. She’s one of the most recognisable yachts at the event, with her custom red and white exterior and unusual eye motif – said to be the eyes of the commissioning owner’s daughter. Leisure highlights include a Pop Art-inspired interior by  Marijana Radovic , a sundeck with a 3.5-metre Jacuzzi and a lower deck arranged with a gym, Finnish sauna and Hammam spa with sea views. Accommodation is across five cabins, including the "VIP deck" owner's cabin which has a walk-in bathroom, lounge and private sunbathing platform on the bow.

Length : 45.2m Builder : Royal Hakvoort

The most recent delivery on the list, Milele is one of this year's World Superyacht Award winners . According to the judges, she stood out thanks to her "incredible build quality” and surprising spaces on board. Most notable of these is the innovative foredeck garage, which stores a submarine and crane, and has a full entertainment suite with a large television screen built into its hatch. She was designed inside and out by Omega Architects with an efficient hull design by Van Oossanen Naval Architects .

After Living Much of Life at Sea, Captain Sandy Finds Love on Land

Sandy Yawn of “Below Deck Mediterranean” married Leah Shafer on — what else? — a superyacht in Florida.

Sandra Dolores Yawn has been locked up, left for dead on a Florida highway and chased through the Red Sea by pirates.

In the summer of 2018, Leah Rae Shafer reached out on Facebook to send Ms. Yawn her blessings. Not because she thought Ms. Yawn, who goes by Captain Sandy, needed her well wishes, but because she had started watching “Below Deck Mediterranean” on Bravo.

The show follows a crew tasked with catering to a revolving cadre of guests who have chartered a superyacht. Ms. Yawn, a star of the series, is at the helm. Ms. Shafer had written to congratulate her on the show’s success. There was another reason, too. “I thought she was hot,” she said.

Ms. Yawn, 59, has been a yacht captain for more than 30 years. Her foray into television, which started in 2017, was not exactly foreordained. Until her mid-20s, “I was a mess,” Ms. Yawn said. “I was always in trouble. I got kicked out of 11th grade. I didn’t go to college.” At 13, at the start of an adolescence spent between Dundee, Fla., where her father lived, and Bradenton, Fla., where her mother lived, she started drinking. By 17, “I was getting arrested so many times I couldn’t even count how many,” she said. Usually a parent bailed her out. Her father’s refusal to do so after one drunken incident landed her a night in jail.

In 1989, when she was 25, the revolving door of South Florida treatment centers she had been pushing through quit spinning when a counselor told her she couldn’t return. “She said, ‘Sandy, as soon as you get some money in your pocket you’re going to start drinking again,’” Ms. Yawn said.

Fearing real jail time, she joined Alcoholics Anonymous. To start paying off the thousands of dollars she owed in legal fees and addiction treatment center bills, she got a job washing boats in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. By 30, she had earned her captain’s license from Maritime Professional Training, a school in Fort Lauderdale for mariners and yachting professionals.

Rehab — she still has an A.A. sponsor and attends meetings whenever possible — helped her pin down the roots of her teenage rebellion. “I think a big part of my drinking was that I couldn’t accept my sexuality,” she said. “When I got sober is when I accepted that, oh my gosh, I actually prefer women.”

For Ms. Shafer, that level of acceptance took much longer. It also cost her a career as a gospel singer.

Ms. Shafer, 50, is the entrepreneur behind a skin care line, Skin by Leah, and a jewelry business started with a friend, Cuff Me. When she messaged Ms. Yawn to congratulate her on the success of “Below Deck Mediterranean” in 2018, she and her husband of 20 years, then living with their teenage daughter in Denver, were going through a divorce. The relationship had gone stale years earlier, Ms. Shafer said, but fear and uncertainty prevented her from leaving.

“I had the security of not worrying financially, because he took care of everything,” she said. Her gospel career at a nondenominational church had taken off when she was still in high school in Hesperia, Calif. But that was mostly a labor of love.

“I toured and went to college at the same time,” said Ms. Shafer, who graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.

By her 30s, she was recording albums, touring megachurches and singing at major Christian conferences. A flirtation with secular performance in the 2000s landed her on the 2003-04 revival of “Star Search” and later a recurring role on NBC’s “The Singing Bee.”

But “I loved God and I loved inspiring people, and the platform I was given was on the stage of churches,” she said. The only problem: “There was really no money in that.”

Before their divorce was final in 2019, she and her husband tried therapy and prayed together. Finally, in 2018, “I just jumped,” she said. “I took a leap of faith. I wanted freedom.”

She found it financially first. Skin by Leah Studio, her Lone Tree, Colo. facial salon that she founded in 2017, was successful right away, she said. When she first saw Ms. Yawn on TV, she was settling into life as an entrepreneur. She didn’t expect to get a response to her Facebook message. But when she got one three months later, in October 2018, it came with an invitation.

In addition to her job as a TV star, Ms. Yawn had started touring with “I Believe,” a series of motivational talks she created to inspire women in leadership positions. When she finally read Ms. Shafer’s message — thousands had been piling up, she said, but something drew her to Ms. Shafer’s — she was in the market for an entertainer for the talks.

In her message, Ms. Shafer had included a video of herself singing the national anthem at a 2014 Denver Broncos game. Once Ms. Yawn clicked the link, she replied right away. “She gave me her phone number and said, ‘I heard you sing,’” Ms. Shafer said. “‘Let’s meet up and talk about how we can do something together.’”

The two continued to talk on the phone and over email. Ms. Yawn was then living in Los Angeles. Ms. Shafer had been planning a Disneyland vacation with her daughter, Lauren, in November, a trip that gave her an excuse to meet Ms. Yawn in person.

Both say they fell in love seconds after Ms. Shafer pulled into Ms. Yawn’s driveway in mid-November 2018. “I offered to park her car for her, and that’s when we hugged,” Ms. Yawn said. “I felt this energy I had never felt. I knew I had to pay attention to that.”

It was a life-changing hug for Ms. Shafer, too. “It was not a normal feeling when I met Sandy,” she said. “She wasn’t the stern captain you see on TV. She was just so fun and so beautiful. That hug melted me.”

Over dinner at Catch, a Los Angeles seafood restaurant, they acknowledged their attraction. “I was really honest with her,” Ms. Yawn said. But Ms. Shafer wasn’t ready to date a woman. “I knew I wanted to be with her,” she said. “I was just freaked out.”

By the end of the evening, Ms. Yawn told her she should take her time. It had been two years since Ms. Yawn’s last relationship. “So at that point I was like, ‘Why rush it?’” she said. “I was older and I’ve learned a lot of lessons. One was, let things happen naturally. Slow and steady wins the race.”

Six months later, the race was over. The women were in a committed relationship, and Ms. Yawn had moved to a place near Ms. Shafer’s in Denver. It was smooth sailing until the end of 2019, when news of the couple’s relationship started circulating in entertainment media.

The public outing ended Ms. Shafer’s gospel career. “I knew the minute I came out as being in love with a woman it would be over, and it was,” she said. Her six CDs, sold in dozens of church bookstores, were pulled from shelves and shipped to her doorstep. Christian radio stations stopped playing her music.

“I had worked for 35 years,” she said. “And it was over.”

Most painful of all were comments after her father’s death from Covid in 2020. “People in the church told me he died because of my sins,” she said. “But he had met and come to accept Sandy before he passed, and I thank God that happened.” Now, “my family adores Sandy.”

Ms. Yawn lost both her parents to heart attacks before she became a TV star — her father in 2006, and her mother in 2009. In 2015, she was en route to the Miami Boat Show on her motorcycle when she was hit by a car. The driver left the scene. “I felt my mother’s presence while I was flipping through the air, and I felt peaceful,” she said.

When she hit the pavement, she had a fractured pelvis and her foot “was on sideways,” she said. By then, though, she was used to navigating life and death scenarios, including fires at sea and run-ins with pirates. She credits her fortitude and empathy, qualities highlighted on “Below Deck Mediterranean,” which she joined in 2017, to her sobriety. “I’ve got nothing to hide and everything to share,” she said.

In 2022, Ms. Yawn and Ms. Shafer bought a house together in Parker, Colo. In September 2023, while Ms. Yawn was filming in Greece, Ms. Shafer flew overseas to visit. Ms. Yawn proposed with a diamond engagement ring on the beach , with violin players in the background.

On May 11, Ms. Shafer and Ms. Yawn were married in Fort Lauderdale aboard She’s a 10 Too, a superyacht lent to the couple by their friend Carolyn Aronson. Fifty-five guests, the maximum allowed aboard the vessel, were in attendance. Among them were “Below Deck Mediterranean” castmates Aesha Scott, Kate Chastain and Dave White, known to viewers as Chef Dave. (And yes, there were cameras filming.)

Ms. Shafer, in a long white wedding gown by Leah Da Gloria, walked down the aisle with her two brothers, Matthew Dale and Justin Dale, to an altar decorated with white roses and hydrangeas; her daughter, now 18, was her maid of honor.

Ms. Yawn, in a white Veronica Beard suit, was escorted down the aisle by Mark Dunham, her brother-in-law. Michelle Dunham, Ms. Yawn’s sister, was her maid of honor. Most guests were barefoot, as is common on yachts. The brides and their wedding party were granted an exception.

Nadine Rajabi, the showrunner of “Below Deck Mediterranean,” who is ordained by the Universal Life Church, married them on the yacht’s bridge aft deck, a job made more difficult by the weather: wind caused her microphone to cut out and blew the pages of her speech around. But nothing could disturb the focus of the brides as they read handwritten vows.

Ms. Shafer told Ms. Yawn that she had taught her to be more optimistic, more playful and “to jump.” Ms. Yawn told Ms. Shafer that she had given her patience and grace.

The captain had been hoping to make it through the ceremony free of tears. But that, she said shortly after they were pronounced married, was impossible. “The minute I looked at Leah and started reading her all the reasons I fell in love with her I started to cry,” she said. “It’s so amazing to find this kind of love in your lifetime.”

On June 3, season nine of “Below Deck Mediterranean” premieres on Bravo. And on July 1, Ms. Shafer will open a skin care studio in Ponte Vedra.

‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 1 Almost Sank the Series

The first season of 'BDSY' traveled some rough seas.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht was the second spin-off of the flagship program that was launched on Bravo. The first season introduced viewers to the crew of Parsifall III, a motoryacht with a twist: a big, ol' sail! Led by Captain Glenn Shephard , the first season was filled with the typical yachties that have made fans love the Below Deck programs. They even welcomed a familiar face in Chef Adam Glick to the yacht. With two seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean under his belt, he was meant to help steer the ship to success. But something didn't work. Was it the awkward boatmance between Chef Adam and Chief Stew Jenna MacGillivray ? Was it the real-life couple working on deck, Padget Berry and Ciara Duggan ? Whatever it was, after Season 1, Below Deck Sailing Yacht essentially emptied the bunks of Parsifall III and Captain Glenn returned with an entirely new crew — and the rest is history. Season 1 had growing pains and needed to be retooled in order for Below Deck Sailing Yacht to truly sail off into glory.

Below Deck has been one of Bravo's biggest assets since its 2013 debut. Following the work lives of a crew on a superyacht, Below Deck showcases the highs and lows of one of the most stressful jobs on the planet. Sure, it looks all luxurious and incredible, but the drama is real. Like many Bravo hits, to capitalize on its success, Bravo green lit Below Deck spin-offs. Following Below Deck Mediterranean , Below Deck Sailing Yacht followed the same formula, but it had growing pains that almost kept it docked forever .

In a reality TV series, a crew aboard a luxury sailing yacht navigates the challenges of providing five-star service to affluent guests while managing personal dynamics and the unpredictable nature of the sea. Each episode reveals a blend of high-seas adventure and behind-the-scenes drama among the crew members.

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Botched Its Casting

Below Deck Sailing Yacht set sail in 2020 in the stunning locale of Greece. With the job tougher than ever and the stakes higher than before, the success of Parsifall III truly depended on the wind in their sails. Beause it came with a new type of vessel for viewers to see, the 180-foot luxury sailing yacht was billed as an even grander once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unlike the flagship franchise's Captain Lee Rosbach and the first spin-off's Captain Sandy Yawn , Below Deck Sailing Yacht relied on an old faithful captain who spent many years aboard the ship. While the others have gone from vessel to vessel, Captain Glenn Shephard's vast knowledge of Parsifall III allowed him to welcome the viewers into his home away from home. Captain Glenn wasn't there to be a reality star ; he was there to do his job, the job he loved to do. To supplement the reality show tropes that make these programs watchable, Below Deck Sailing Yacht had to ensure the rest of the cast was filled with personalities that would be enticing to watch.

Since Parsifall III already had members of the crew on board, the show decided to keep two members of the sailing yacht's crew, casting them as the power couple that they thought fans would fall in love with. Prior to the start of the season, Paget Berry was the yacht's First Officer, the closest position to a Bosun, while Ciara Duggan was a stewardess, working in the interior. But for some bizarre reason, likely for added drama, Captain Glenn pushed Ciara to the exterior to act as a deckhand, which meant she would be working under her boyfriend.

Fans also learned that this would mark the first time the pair ever worked directly with one another in this capacity. Has this ever worked to solidify a healthy relationship? Very rarely. With two familiar faces on Captain Glenn's staff, Below Deck Sailing Yacht brought on a Below Deck alum to help integrate the show into the Below Deck Cinematic Universe. Chef Adam Glick had a whiplash of a journey during his time on Below Deck Med . Often found bickering with Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier , undermining her authority, and going rogue with his meals like putting onions in dishes when the primary specifically put on his preference sheet that he did not want them, Chef Adam was an interesting option to be the familiar face for the franchise to start with. But hey, an angry, temperamental chef is a stereotype for Below Deck so it seemed fitting .

The Interior Team Was a Nightmare on Season 1 of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht'

Knowing Chef Adam had a rocky relationship with the head of the interior, it was expected that whoever was in charge on Parsifal III would suffer the same fate as their counterpart in the Med. But it couldn't be further from the truth. Jenna MacGillivray was brought on as Chief Stew. She was not the warm and cuddly personality, but had a similar demeanor to the original Below Deck Chief Stew Adrienne Gang . Both women's mission was to assert their authority and had run-ins with many of their colleagues. For Jenna, there was one exception: A second romance bloomed on Parsifall III between Chef Adam and Chief Stew Jenna.

On paper, watching love blossom should warm the hearts, but this duo was toxic, and Jenna left a lot to be desired, as she rarely ever took accountability for focusing on her school-girl romance with Chef Adam over her duties as Chief Stew. The interior team is central to the story, as they spend the most time with the guests on camera. Jenna became unbearable when she fell in love , and things got messy. Her obsession with her relationship over her job almost sank the ship.

With so many questionable choices in the cast, there had to be someone on the crew that could breathe sanity into the Below Deck spin-off. Turning to the interior, Jenna's two stewardesses were Madison Stalker and Georgia Grobler . Madison very quickly became the audience's voice of reason as she saw the chaos on board. She dealt with the brunt of Jenna's frustrations and lack of interest in establishing a working relationship with her. Madison was great at her job, she just never got the praise she deserved. She became the season's punching bag; hence, the majority of her story was filled with Jenna trying to tear her down, and Chef Adam following suit because he had to side with his girl.

When it came to Georgia, the 3rd Stew was clearly unaware of relationship boundaries. It's one thing to have a crush, but when you're living and working with your crush, whose girlfriend is also sleeping feet away from you, perhaps it's best to turn things down a few notches. Georgia's crush on Paget was simply uncomfortable to watch. Her entire journey on Below Deck Sailing Yacht comprised of trying to serenade Paget with the only original song Georgia had in her songbook. What was worse? Paget fed into it — with his girlfriend present! Her flirtation was cringe, and yet it wasn't even as hard as Jenna went for Chef Adam.

'Below Deck Down Under' Is Bravo's Best Kept Secret

On deck, joining Ciara and Paget for half the season, was Parker McCown . He resigned from his position due to his well-being, as his back and forth with Paget was wearing him down. Parker was replaced by Christopher Miller , who was almost a non-existent personality for the remainder of the charter season. He was kind, he worked well, but suffered a back injury that nearly derailed his entire career. Unlike any other Below Deck series, Below Deck Sailing Yacht featured the Chief Engineer as an on-screen character. Byron Hissey was much older than the majority of the crew, so his presence wasn't as drama-filled comparatively. As a character, he was a swell guy, but he just didn't have the aspirations to make good reality television.

Every season of Below Deck features some sort of mess. Maybe it's caused by the elite vacationers or the drama within the bowels of the ship, but the mess of Below Deck Sailing Yacht 's first season was the mess of its cast. Casting is hard; these nine individuals lacked chemistry and didn't gel. There's no predicting how individuals will react — it's the core of the experiment of reality television. The stories that this cast created were ripe for drama, they just didn't play out well.

Thankfully, the show learned from its mistake and retooled the entire second season. The only returning cast member was Captain Glenn. Fans were then introduced to Chief Engineer Colin MacRae , Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher , and First Officer Gary King, and magic was instantly made! Captain Glenn and his new trio have remained with the program since Season 2, are the longest running tenured group within the Below Deck franchise, and make it one of the best in the franchise. The moral of this story is perfection takes time. You won't always catch lightning on the first try. Below Deck Sailing Yacht is proof. They ditched the navy blue polos and opted for those infamous orange ones ; that's how badly they needed to distance themselves from that first season.

Below Deck Adventure ran for one season from November 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, and it's time for an update on if there will ever be a season 2. The premiere season of Below Deck Adventure , led by Captain Kerry Titheradge , received favorable reviews from fans excited about having a cold weather adaption in the long-running Below Deck franchise. Season 1 delivered in terms of quality cast members, jaw-dropping drama, wild excursions, and entertaining guests (including The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City 's Heather Gay .)

There was crew firing, a boatmance, interdepartmental drama, and department head feuds. Below Deck Adventure season 1 had all the components of a great Below Deck franchise season. With stunning Norwegian fjords as the backdrop for Below Deck's only frigid installment, Below Deck Adventure highlighted a different, more venturesome side of the yachting world that fans want to see more of. Moreover, the Below Deck franchise has a ton of traction with Bravo fans who always want to see new and returning cast. However, there are telling signs it is looking unlikely that Below Deck Adventure has been reprised.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Below Deck Adventure Season 2 Latest News

No official word.

Below Deck Adventure viewers have been without the spinoff for almost a year and five months at this point, which is the longest absence of a Below Deck franchise show to have ever happened. That doesn't bode well for the future of the spinoff.

If it were to make a return this year, it would have either replaced or ran concurrently with Below Deck Mediterranean season 8, or it would have aired after Below Deck season 11.

Instead, Below Deck Med season 9 has taken that place. Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has also seemingly been pushed out.

Bravo is notoriously tight-lipped about any upcoming Below Deck news until the premiere date is practically on top of viewers' heads. Therefore, there is nothing to signal that Below Deck Adventure season 2, if there ends up being one, will be any different. That said, charming Below Deck Adventure figurehead, Captain Kerry Titheradge, took over as Captain for Captain Lee Rosbach in Below Deck season 11 , so there is either a crossover between the two series or Captain Kerry is permanently taking over in the OG series.

Below Deck Adventure Season 2 Potential Release Date

It is not on the 2024 calendar.

There have been no filming leaks from fans or any talk amongst the Below Deck Adventure cast about a second season, so there is no concrete evidence to indicate the show will continue. Bravo has not said officially whether Below Deck Adventure has been canceled or is just on a hiatus.

It's possible that the show could return in the future given its popularity, but the exact reason as to why there has been no second season is unclear at this point.

Since the introduction of Below Deck Down Under to the franchise, Bravo has taken to running two concurrent seasons, albeit not at the exact same time. For example, Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 began airing shortly before Below Deck Down Under season 1 started its run. In 2023, there wasn't as much overlapping, and in 2024 we have seen no overlapping so far, but that's not to say it won't happen later this year.

Below Deck Adventure Season 2 Potential Cast

New & old cast would be good.

Were there to be a Below Deck Adventure season 2, the obvious returning choices would be charismatic Captain Kerry Titheradge along with entertaining and witty Chief Stew Faye Clarke. Both made standout impressions on viewers and contributed a lot to the success of Below Deck Adventure season 1 . While there were other memorable cast members during the pilot season, the Below Deck franchise has historically only brought back the captain, chief, and bosun mainly. However, Faye is a new mom now, and Captain Kerry has reportedly already been filming for Below Deck season 12.

Below Deck Adventure would be a good spinoff to bring popular or controversial old Below Deck franchise cast members back to. Having well-known returning cast could make it like an all-star season, however, there is no talk of that ever happening. Now that Captain Kerry has his place in the OG series, Below Deck Adventure season 2 could make way for a new captain.

Given that there is no official news from Bravo, fans will have to stay tuned for impending news on Below Deck Adventure season 2. It is unlikely to return any time soon or it would have already been thrown into the 2024 mix. If it returns in the future, it could always fit in as a spinoff season that runs concurrently with either the OG show or Below Deck Med .

Below Deck Adventure is a new series in the Below Deck Franchise on Bravo TV. It follows a luxurious yacht and its crew as it sails through various oceans and curates unforgettable experiences for its guests - this time through the icy cold waters of Norway. Through Fjords, caves, and beaches aplenty, the crew will deal with the drama between guests and themselves while trying to manage expectations of the overall excursion. Some of the experiences curated for the guests include rappelling, cave diving, helicopter rides, and more. 

The True Story of Princess Diana's Vacation on Mohamed Al Fayed's Yacht in Saint Tropez

The trip features in the final season of The Crown .

"Everything about that trip to St. Tropez was heaven," Prince Harry shared about the vacation he and Prince William joined his mother for aboard the vessel in his memoir, Spare . Here, some of the most memorable photos of Princess Diana with her sons and the Fayeds on the Jonikal in July 1997.

Princess Diana was friendly with Mohamed Al Fayed, who had been in royal-adjacent circles for some time due to his ownership of Harrods department store.

Diana brought her two sons, Prince William (head down, center) and Prince Harry (right), on vacation with her.

"We'd been with Mummy weeks earlier when she first met him, in St. Tropez," Harry writes in Spare —the 'him' refers to Dodi. "We were having a grand time, just the three of us, staying at some old gent's villa."

At the time, Diana had recently broken up with British Pakistani heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan, who could not handle the media attention surrounding their relationship. Her friends later shared that they believed her fling with Dodi was to make Hasnat jealous.

"Best of all," Harry remembers in Spare, "there were jet skis. Whose were they? Don't know. But I vividly remember Willy and me riding them out to the deepest part of the channel, circling while waiting for the big ferries to come. We used their massive wakes as ramps to get airborne. I'm not sure how we weren't killed"

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
