New Northern Marine 57 with 5,000-Mile Range
Northern Marine has just launched its latest 57 pilothouse long-range expedition yacht, designed for an owner-operator to cruise anywhere in the world.
Stuart Archer, the general manager of Northern Marine in Anacortes, Washington, wrote me that the 57, powered by a single 325-hp John Deere, has a range of 5,000 nm at 8.75 knots. The boat holds 2,600 gallons of fuel and burns 4.2 gph at that speed. Top speed is over 10 knots.
Northern Marine has a rich heritage of making commercial fishing boats, working trawlers and long-range expedition yachts. It was bought by Seattle Yachts in 2019, with a fleet now going from the 57 up to 100 feet.
The new 57 is the sixth hull in that line, and it has a two-stateroom, three-head layout, with an additional sleeping area in the settee in the pilothouse. Built for global travel, the 57 has two 17kW generators. An emergency get-home drive powered by one of them will deliver a 5-knot speed. The boat also has bow and stern thrusters.
The large engine room provides easy access to the machinery and also houses a sea-chest, replacing a series of through-hull fittings, to provide water throughout the boat. The sea-chest has a clear Lexan cover on top, above the waterline, for easy inspection and cleaning.
Two overhead cameras monitor all the gauges and systems in the engine room. The fuel filters are mounted above deck on the starboard side for an easy change underway.
The yacht’s aft deck is full width and protected by the overhang from the boat deck. It has a sink and fridge. A weather-tight door leads to the salon, with an L-shaped lounge to starboard, twin chairs and a high-gloss table to port. A flat-screen TV between the chairs can be raised on a power lift to face the galley with a white quartz stone countertop. Extra-large side windows let in lots of natural light.
The gourmet galley is up a step from the salon, and is equipped for a long cruise, with a trash compactor, dishwasher, fridge and other appliances, all with walnut veneer panels. A large pantry is on the port side.
Up two steps, the pilothouse has a four-person, L-shaped settee and a table that convert to a double berth behind the Stidd helm chair. Five fixed windows in front are at a reverse angle to reduce glare and shed water. An on-deck head is on the port side, just aft of a watertight door leading up to the flybridge.
Up top, the flybridge has two Stidd helm chairs, an ice-maker, fridge/freezer, sink and barbeque and unobstructed views forward. The flybridge is protected by a hardtop. The boat deck aft has a 1,500-pound hydraulic Steelhead crane.
The master stateroom is on the main deck under the pilothouse, with a centerline king-sized bed and large en suite head. You reach the guest stateroom via a separate stairway from the pilothouse. It has a walk-around queen bed and an en suite head.
Specs.: LOA: 57’0”; Beam: 17’6”; Draft: 5’10”; Disp.: 135,000 lbs.; Fuel: 2,600 gals.; Water: 420 gals.; Power: 1×325-hp John Deere. Read more:

What does it mean to be a yacht owner-operator?
- Desiree van Welsum
- June 12, 2019
If you have been following my blogs so far, or if you have been around people who talk “boat speak” (e.g brokers, dealers, boat show exhibitors, etc.), you may have heard the term “owner-operator”.
What does that term mean, and what does being an owner-operator involve?
Being an owner-operator essentially means that you not only own a boat, but that you are also running, operating and managing the boat without any professional crew (captain, engineer, deckhand, or stew) onboard. There are different aspects to being an owner-operator, including day-to-day yacht management, running the boat, planning trips, provisioning for trips, and all the different ways in which you can enjoy your yacht.
Let’s start with the day-to-day management of the boat.
If you are not using the services of a yacht management company, you will then be responsible for setting-up a maintenance schedule that includes items such a regular detailing of the boat, bottom cleaning by a diver (depending on where you keep your boat), keeping check of the condition and running order of the engines and generators, various fluid levels, and scheduling service and/or warranty items and repairs as required.
In some cases, it may involve taking the boat to a boat or service yard for haul-out or hiring a yacht captain to do so. Putting your yacht on a lift is exciting, and nerve-wracking as well. It is quite an amazing sight to see the yacht riding around a yard in slings, especially when the lift operator is walking around with a remote control!
What are the limitations to being an owner-operator?
The main limitation is the size of the vessel (the LOA) you can safely operate. Indeed, with just two people (who are not trained professionals) there will be limits, not only in terms of moving the boat, but also docking the boat. Luckily, new technologies make piloting and docking the boat much easier for owner-operators.
However, that’s only one part of any trip. Arriving at a destination, especially when there are no local dockhands to help, is a lot of work for one person to disembark onto the dock, and then tie up. It is even more work when the weather conditions are less than ideal. In addition, the size and weight of fenders and lines will also increase with the size of the boat and become more cumbersome to handle.
If there are no local detailers around to wash down the boat on arrival (which is highly desirable, especially if you have been out in wet conditions and in salt water), washing the boat quickly becomes a chore that increases with the size and volume of the boat.
There may also be some limitations on the operational side.
In my experience, at least one person needs to have a decent amount of mechanical and engineering knowledge, and preferably some “MacGyver skills”. Indeed, something will invariably break down at some point along the way, and there is not always a professional nearby who can fix, or troubleshoot the problem.
Finally, you will also need at least some technical, meteorological and navigational knowledge to operate the boat safely, especially when cruising in unfamiliar places with variable weather and water conditions. Even if you checked the weather, there is always a chance you run into some unexpected storms and squalls.
With the yacht ready to go, you can start planning trip itineraries. This is where all the fun starts, even when you are still at home. Indeed, you can do background research on places and cruising grounds you would like to visit. Using the various navigational apps available today, it is possible to trace your route at home and then download the itinerary to the devices and MFDs on the boat the next time you are onboard.
In most cases, you will probably need to make reservations for the boat if you are planning to stay in marinas. You will be asked the length, beam and draft of the boat, as well as the type of power connection you will need on the dock (e.g. 30, 50 or 100 amps, single or double).
The next step is to provision the yacht for your trip.
This of course depends on how long you are going away for, where you are going (will there be local grocery stores and restaurants?), what your refrigeration capacity is like, and how many people – and who – are coming on the trip. While it may seem like a bit of a chore (and you can hire the services of a company that will do the provisioning for you), I actually find it quite enjoyable as it is all part of the fun of preparing and planning your trip, and contributes to the anticipation building up to it!
One other key part of provisioning is for the boat itself. In addition to the necessary cleaning supplies, it is important to carry a certain amount of spare parts such as Racor fuel filters, impellers, light bulbs for your navigation and anchor lights, possibly a water pump, as well as any fluids you may need such as generator oil, outboard engine oil for the tender, cooling and windscreen washer fluids. Ah, and a tow boat membership, just in case!
With your itinerary traced out, and uploaded on your navigational devices, and with your engine room, fridges and cabinets provisioned, it is time to go! The sound of the engines starting is the signal that fun times have begun, and always gives me butterflies in my stomach.
The feeling of freedom as you pull away from the dock and leave land behind is simply unique.
One advantage of being an owner-operator is that you do not have to deal with crew on board, making the experience more private and intimate… cruising just as a couple, or with just friends and family. Of course, you can still hire a captain and/or a stew on occasions where you want to focus on entertaining your guests, and/or if want to be able to enjoy a glass of bubbly or other drinks while underway with guests.
Either way… engines on, and off you go!

Best Yachts – Top 15 Picks for 2024
Carver 52 Command Bridge
Hatteras M75 Panacera
Sabre 58 Salon Express
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a yacht? Probably those huge luxury cruisers reserved for the high society folks, right? Well, that’s true, but those are a special group of ships referred to as luxury yachts.
The questions you need to be asking are – What is a yacht? At what point is a yacht regarded as a ship? And, what exactly makes a yacht a yacht? Here’s a little boating lesson for you.
A yacht is any fast cruising watercraft used for pleasure or sport. Yachts can be classified into cruisers, superyachts, and mega yachts. The difference between them all boils down to their respective sizes.
Luxury vessels that are less than 12 meters long fall in the class of cabin cruiser yachts – or simply, cruisers. Those that measure more than 24 meters are classified as superyachts. Anything that’s 50+ meters long is a mega yacht. Anything larger than a mega yacht is generally referred to as a ship and generally describes a working vessel as opposed to something recreational.
So, as you can see, you don’t necessarily have to be swimming in a ton of money to become a yacht owner. The only difference will be in the size of the craft you get. Clear enough?
Without further ado, here are the 15 best yachts, as well as a few useful tips on how to choose the best one.

How to Choose the Best Yachts – Buyer’s Guide
A yacht is a pretty big purchase. So, you need to know what to look for when choosing the right one for your needs. Here are a couple of pointers that might come in handy.
Type of Yacht
The type of yacht you buy depends in large part on your intended use for it. Most yachts tend to fall into one of three categories – For water sports like wakeboarding , fishing motor yachts, or the overnight cruising variety. Once you know what kind of recreational activities you plan on engaging in, that should help narrow down your choices.
Next, you need to consider what size of yacht you should get. Do you have a young family that you intend to expand in the coming years? Do you plan to use the vessel for day cruising, or do you intend to spend a couple of nights on board from time to time?
Will the yacht be just for you and your significant other, or do you plan to frequently entertain several guests on board? This will advise whether you should buy a cabin cruiser yacht, a superyacht, or a mega yacht.
In a perfect world, you would have all the money you need to buy any kind of watercraft you want. Sadly, that’s not the reality we live in. Keep in mind that yachts don’t exactly come cheap. So, even if you’re planning to purchase a small yacht, you’ll still need to spend quite a bit of cash to get it.
The best thing to do would be to set a budget and compare the different models on offer from different manufacturers . Aside from the boat’s purchase price, you also need to think about the costs associated with owning a yacht. These include insurance, repairs, maintenance, cleaning, and the vessel’s general servicing.
Figure out what kind of comfort and convenience features are a must-have for you. How many cabins should it have? Do you need it to have a summer grill up top? Or will the one in the mini kitchen below-deck suffice? Ensure that the yacht you get has all the amenities you need.
Last but not least, before you sign any purchase contract, ensure that you schedule a sea trial with the dealer. That way, you get a true feel for the boat before you buy it.
Look Before You Leap
If you’re in the market for a shiny new yacht, any of the 15 vessels we’ve detailed in this guide will make an excellent choice. Do your homework beforehand, and make sure your desired craft has all the features and amenities you seek.
Use the tips we’ve outlined in this guide to help you choose the best yachts from all the different options that are hot on the market right now. Happy yachting!

Why Having a License for a Yacht Is So Important
There is more to know beyond answering the question, "Do you need a license to drive a yacht?" Knowing why you want one to be in your possession is important. Below are some of the main points our yacht service experts want you to remember.
Legal Compliance and Regulations of a Florida Boating License
The operation of a yacht demands meticulous adherence to a myriad of legal frameworks and maritime regulations. These encompass licensing requirements, registration obligations, and adherence to safety standards stipulated by international and regional maritime bodies. Understanding and complying with these legal mandates is not merely a formality. It is the cornerstone of responsible yachting. Moreover, a profound comprehension of maritime laws ensures the safety of all onboard, mitigating risks and fostering a secure environment for crew and passengers alike.
Mastery of Navigation at Sea
Navigating a yacht presents unique challenges that demand a comprehensive grasp of navigation techniques. Unlike land-based travel, yachting requires proficiency in understanding nautical charts, interpreting weather patterns, and employing navigation tools specific to maritime environments. Mastering these skills is imperative for ensuring safe passage, efficient handling of the vessel, and the ability to navigate diverse and often unpredictable waterways.
Handling Emergencies at Sea The vastness of the seas brings with it the potential for unforeseen emergencies. From inclement weather conditions to mechanical failures, being equipped to address these difficulties is non-negotiable. A thorough understanding of emergency protocols, swift decision-making in crisis scenarios, and possessing the skill set to manage emergencies effectively are paramount. Whether it involves first aid proficiency, knowledge of distress signals, or executing evacuation procedures, preparedness is vital to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone aboard. Do you need a license to drive a yacht and handle these emergencies? The experience comes with the practice that only a license will present to you.
Obtaining a license to drive a yacht extends far beyond a legal requirement. It embodies a commitment to safety, proficiency, and responsible seamanship. Mastery of maritime laws, navigation skills, and preparedness in handling emergencies form the bedrock of a conscientious and adept yacht operator, ensuring not just compliance but also the safety and security of all involved in the yachting experience.
The Process of Obtaining a Florida Yacht License "Do you need a license to drive a yacht?" This question often marks the outset of one's journey toward navigating the world's waters aboard one's own vessel. Addressing this query initiates a multifaceted process involving stringent prerequisites and comprehensive training to ensure the mastery of essential skills integral to responsible yacht operation. Our yacht care professionals are masters in all things related to navigation. Here, they present things you must know when you are undergoing the process of obtaining your license.
Florida Boat License Requirement and Training Acquiring a yacht license requires fulfilling specific prerequisites that vary depending on the region and the license type sought. Typically, applicants must meet age requirements, undergo a thorough medical examination to ensure physical fitness and complete a specified number of logged sea hours. A fundamental understanding of maritime laws and navigation principles is also essential through formal education or training courses.
Training programs for yacht licensing encompass a comprehensive curriculum covering seamanship, navigation techniques, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. These programs, often conducted by certified maritime institutions or accredited training centers, offer theoretical instruction complemented by practical, hands-on experience aboard vessels. They equip aspiring yacht operators with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate, operate, and manage a yacht proficiently and safely.
Variations of the License for Boating in Florida Yacht licenses vary in scope and designation, catering to different yacht sizes, navigational zones, and purposes. Common categories include licenses for recreational yachts, commercial vessels, and specific endorsements for operating in coastal or open waters. Licenses may also differ based on propulsion systems, accommodating both sail and motor yachts. The scope ranges from inland waterways to unrestricted navigation in international waters, reflecting varying degrees of competency and experience required for each category.
Beyond the fundamental yacht license, endorsements or supplementary certifications augment an operator's skill set. These endorsements often focus on specialized areas such as offshore sailing, handling specific types of vessels, or certifications in advanced navigation techniques. Additionally, safety and first aid, radio operation, or environmental stewardship certifications further enhance an operator's capabilities and preparedness, ensuring a comprehensive skill set for navigating diverse yachting scenarios.
Obtaining a yacht license involves meeting prerequisites, undergoing rigorous training, and selecting the appropriate license category tailored to one's yachting ambitions. what would be the largest yacht for an experienced owner/operator that could safely be operated either solo or with a small family ?? let's also say that the yacht is either pod powered or joystick retro fit (like zf jms) ..... so it has a very good joystick control system ....... 60' .... 70' .... 80'.... LSX120 ??
RER Senior Member
As is always the case with these kinds of questions, it depends on your use. Day trips? Fair weather cruising in summer and on weekends? Or are you talking about passage making? Fleming, Grand Banks Aleutian, Westport Pacific Mariner, and others build boats in the 60', 70', and 80' range that are essentially designed as owner operator - couples cruisers. Your joystick - pod control comment is curious to me. It's irrelevant to your question. An "experienced owner" should be able to safely operate his boat whether it has ".....a very good joystick control system" .....or not.
Pascal Senior Member
well, the joystick question isnt' curious because it is marketed to make folks think that it is the miracle solution! I find that docking and close quarter handling is not the biggest issue an owner/operator will face once (s)he gets into boats over, 50, 60, 70 etc... It's really maintenance and dealing with the systems. I dont' mean just being able to fix something, there are many handy owner/operators capable of dealing with many failures, but the time it take. while under way cruising the east coast or the bahamas for a month, the routine maintenance, upkeep etc... can be overwhelming and too time consuming, making that vacation time part time working! now if you jsut do short trips and have someone to take care of the boat when you come back, then it's a non issue. as to single handling, well there is a lot more to joystick control. I feel the actual layout of the boat is a lot more important.. being able to get from the helm to your spring lines is the number one criteria. Backing into a slip, having controls on the aft deck is also at the top of the list. i guess, gadgets like remote controls can be helpful, but a fancy set of joystick inside the boat requiring a long walk to your line is going require an experienced mate for line handling.
i understand your points ....... i came for the aviation world where modern avionics have allowed some pretty sophisticated jets to be certified for single pilot ...... the work load has been reduced to a level where the faa has approved single pilot operation ...... it's not just the maneuvering system but all the electronic systems that support it ..... navigation, communication , emergency systems ....etc ..... lets say the yacht would be used to cruise the caribbean and not very demanding locations .....

driving the boat is the easy part it;s just like flying it is when things start going wrong that it gets real busy in a hury even with all the best operating systems there are still the basics that need to be addressed , a lot depends on where you are going and what you expect to do on the way and when you get there good luck just some thoughts travler

I'm 100% comfortable on a GB59 by myself, until I need to sneak into a tight slip. Yes, the remote controls are a godsend, the aft controls are as well, but at the end of the day, you have to have absolute nerves of steel to do it regularly. (I can't). Electronics, nav systems, chart plotters, radios, etc. All that stuff for the most part runs itself. That being said, should you choose to operate on your own, you'll quickly learn to think hours ahead of you, then minutes ahead of you, then seconds ahead of you. Stupid things like getting fenders hung earlier than you normally would with a hand on board. Maintenance is the next topic which has already been discussed. Yes, engine room, but then exterior, interior, and let's not forget break and fix in flight troubleshooting. My Wife on board makes it so much easier in the rare cases where it's just her and I. Even if it's the 3 minutes to duck down and check on an alarm, a tank, a line, a switch, etc. Lest we not forget insurance requirements.

As has been said, not only depends on your experience level but on what size boats. If your talking about say getting a new 76' Lazara that runs around 5 million, NO insurance company is going to insure you without a Licensed captain on board unless you can show a long history of ownership.
Kafue Senior Member
Agree with NYCAP here. Our family boating years ago meant that not only was I "solo" in charge but worse, "solo" on guard. I was far more concerned that my young children and wife were in a safe place, away from danger than I was in need of an extra hand with docking. At one time we had a 50' Ocean Alexander Mk1 displacement with 120hp Lehmans. Everytime I came into a different marina I had already prepared the boat as much as possible and NO-One was allowed out the saloon until she was tied up. Fibreglass is a lot easier to repair than bones and that boat needed a few minutes before it would change in any direction no matter how much throttle was applied. Made me a better boater I think but aged me too.

I would ask what is the biggest yacht you have owned so far. I love driving my 103 and before this I had a 62' and loved to bring her in by myself. I would tell everyone don't touch anything until I stop the boat. I loved when the wind was 15 - 30 putting her in a tight spot and I have never had thrusters on a boat but I always got her in. I always felt this would make me a better Captain and it did. I feel I would have had trouble with my 103 if I had done like everyone else in TN, and sat out on the lake until the winds are ok to come in. I always loved the challenge of parking a boat. I could tell so many story's of parking. I pulled into this small tight marina one time just to get a coke and the guy gave me the coke and said thanks for the show. Now when I went to the 103 not many of the same rules applied. You can't reach the dock or just jump off and tie the boat off. it's a long drop down and you can't stop a 95 ton boat with a small rope. Truth is I am still learning how dock this yacht and it will just take some time but I know I can do it. I say drive a big yacht and you will know.
Agree with you totally cap, but let's make sure the OP doesn't miss this: I would tell everyone Click to expand...
i'm looking for yacht to mainly cruise the caribbean ...... i have a 42' go fast boat but now with family i'm looking for a cruiser ..... i seem to make good decisions in my boating as well as my flying ..... as the old adage goes ... "there are old pilots and there are bold pilot but there are no old bold pilots ....." .... i don't push my limitations ... don't even come close ..... i know on a perfect day when everything is working well i could probably manage these yachts with my wife ...... i love the lazzara line of yachts ...... which one ? lsx64, lsx78, lsx92 .......
Assuming that your wife seriously knows how to deckhand, i.e. what lines need to go where and how to tie and set them, also fenders, and knows how to navigate, run and dock the boat. And assuming that your kids are old enough to stay out of the way and can be out of her mind for 10 minutes (or are old enough and capable enough to help). You could do maybe 65' or 70'. If she's ok and willing to help you're talking 50' maybe 55'. If however she's afraid of breaking a nail and you've got pre-schoolers. Stick with what you've got or be prepared to hire or bring someone who knows boats. As for your experience, a 42' go fast is more akin to driving a 30' Donzi than a 50' Viking.

I would hire one full time live aborad crew. If you look hard enough you can get one cheap. He/ she can help with the boat and make your life much easier.

Coming from a 42 go-fast I'm fairly confident that your insurance company will require you to use a captain for either of those boats for a period of time. From there you'll see how it goes. Microscopic phytoplankton serve as the inspiration for Italian yacht builder Rossinavi's newest ... [+] designs under their BluE philosophy. Like this phytoplankton, the recently launched Seawolf X, the Project Infinity 42, and the Concept Oneiric are all designed to convert energy from the sun to use to power operations.
What do a 43-meter hybrid-electric catamaran, a 42-meter monohull superyacht, and a futuristic catamaran have in common with phytoplankton? Italian yacht builder Rossinavi can explain it in the simplest of terms: energy conversion.
Phytoplankton are single-celled photosynthetic microorganisms that live in water. Using chloroplasts containing chlorophyll, the cells collect the energy in sunlight, converting it into chemical energy and storing it to power cell function as needed.
Rossinavi’s sharp new AI hybrid-electric catamaran Seawolf X, the AI hybrid-electric monohull superyacht Project Infinity 42, and the AI concept catamaran Oneiric also convert sunlight to energy. Uniquely crafted solar panels collect the sun's energy, converting it into electrical energy to be stored in battery banks to power the yachts as needed.
Why It Matters
Both phytoplankton and AI hybrid-electric yachts have an important place in promoting a healthy marine environment. One supplies about half of the earth's oxygen and provides a basic ocean food web for aquatic populations while also recycling important ocean nutrients. A big job for tiny organisms.
The other supplies a more sustainable way for people to explore nature's oceans. Mindful that the oceans are sensitive to oceanic contaminants delivered via conventional yachting emissions, along with many other things, Rossinavi is taking a proactive approach.
NSA Warns iPhone And Android Users To Turn It Off And On Again

Rossinavi's recently launched Seawolf X belongs to the elite group of the Italian yachtbuilder's ... [+] BluE yacht collection. The 42.8-meter supercat has integrated panels for solar collection with Artificial Intelligence advising crew in ways to adjust operations for maximum performance and seamless guest comfort using minimal energy.
Using AI technology in tandem with solar panels and battery banks to reduce impacts to the flora and fauna of the ocean, Seawolf X can run day trips in full electric mode. This cat can also run multi-day excursions at 90 percent and transatlantic trips at 80 percent in electric mode. When docked or moored in hibernation mode, reduced energy consumption monitored by AI allows the yacht to return energy to the quay or property. It can power a villa if needed. A big job for a catamaran.
Project Infinity is also equipped with an AI system that monitors operations to assist crew in choosing more sustainable operations via integrated solar panels and a substantial battery pack. The superyacht can run 90 percent of day trips on full electric mode and 70 percent in full electric mode for transatlantic trips. A lightweight eco-displacement hull contributes to efficiency.
Rossinavi's Concept Oneiric stands as a beacon in sustainable yacht design, employing groundbreaking naval and interior architecture by Zaha Hadid Architects and top-of-industry technology. A yacht from the future, Oneiric is a unique sustainability standout with many creature comforts.
Seawolf X By The Numbers
Even from an overhead view, Seawolf X sets itself apart from the rest. Here showing off the ... [+] lightweight, durable, highly efficient solar panels and the bow deck which is convertible to a cinema, Seawolf X offers efficiency with AI management of systems, in tandem with sustainability from the solar energy converted to power the yacht.
The Rossinavi BluE label catamaran Seawolf X joins the elite fleet from the Italian shipbuilder's newest models created with an emphatic sustainability philosophy. Seawolf X measures 42.8 meters, stem to stern, and 13.8 meters across the beam with a draft of 1.85 meters.
Seawolf X sports a futuristic exterior with sweeping curves flowing to crisp edges, echoing lines of chic supercars. "We set out to envision the boat of the future, unbound by convention yet grounded in feasibility with cutting-edge technology for minimal environmental impact." said Fulvio De Simoni, Founder of Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design.
Seawolf X, a product of Rossinavi's BluE collection of yachts inspired by phytoplankton, cuts a ... [+] profile unlike any other.
The aluminum hull and exterior architecture is the result of work from Italian hands at Fulvio de Simoni Yacht Design . The New York firm of Meyer Davis Studio delivered the interiors.
With a sociable cockpit centered around a pool, an expansive sun deck, and a bow area that transforms to a cinema, outdoor spaces are generous, comfortable, and spacious. Four cabins of equal proportion are outfitted in thoughtfully selected sustainable materials using neutral tones, mimicking nature's most soothing elements.
Two diesel batteries can quickly recharge. The yacht is able to fully recharge via shore power in five hours.
Infinity 42 By The Numbers
Designed for sustainability and high performance, Infinity 42's monocrystalline silicon cells, seven times lighter than traditional glass panels, will record the highest power to weight ratio in the current world market. Highly productive in low sunlight and at minimum angles of incidence, these flexible cells will lend themselves to pleasing, curved design aesthetics.
Four lower deck cabins and one main level cabin are spacious and bright. Placement of the wheelhouse between the main deck and sundeck facilitates a low, streamlined, aerodynamic profile.
For these and many other reasons, Infinity 42 earns a triple zero: No emissions, no noise, no odors. Owners can thus enjoy the sea while respecting it.
Concept Yacht Oneiric
The Oneiric catamaran concept, developed in collaboration with Zaha Hadid Architects, is the new Rossinavi sustainable technology flagship. The aluminum yacht concept measures 44 meters in length and 13.75 meters across the beam with a draft of 2 meters. Interior design accommodates 8-10 guests in 4-5 cabins served by 6-7 crew.
Interiors are light and spacious, using lightweight recycled and recyclable materials, optimizing performance and energy use. Fluid, organic lines common to Zaha Hadid Architectural style employ biomimicry at its best, borrowing palettes, textures, and patterns from nature's proven designs.
Fully electric navigation via three levels of solar collection make the most of solar technology. AI manages operations at the control center, advising crew in delivering optimal efficiency across all systems for the lowest environmental impact, energy consumption, and guest comfort.
Rossinavi's BluE Line
Rossinavi says it is working to revamp the image and the practices of traditional recreational yachting, focusing on ethics and environment. With sustainability as the guiding principle, Rossinavi created the BluE line, optimizing performance while minimizing emissions and maintaining a high level of guest comfort.
Designing yachts that respect the oceans, Rossinavi is working to connect with those seeking intense and exciting voyages while respecting the sea and reinforcing mankind's connection to it.

An Owner-Operator Paradise
- By Yachting Staff
- Updated: February 24, 2014
68-foot Azimut motoryacht Sabella
Broker Yannis Zagorakis at Hargrave Yacht Brokerage and Charter says there has been a price reduction on the 68-foot Azimut Sabella , which he describes as “an owner-operator paradise.”
Previously, Sabella had been listed at $1.35 million. The owner is now asking $999,999 and will consider trades.
Zagorakis says Sabella has been constantly upgraded since her launch in 2008. She has twin 1,050-horsepower Caterpillar engines, each with 1,089 hours, that combine to deliver a top speed of 32 knots.
Features include upper and lower helm stations with Furuno, Maptech and Raymarine electronics, a joystick docking system, a full-beam master stateroom plus a queen-bed VIP and twin-bed guest cabin, crew quarters accessible from the swim platform and an 11-foot Novurania tender with a recently serviced, 30-horsepower Honda outboard.
Sabella is lying in South Florida. Full specs are at www.hargraveyachtsales.com.

Wild photos show million-dollar yacht with 2 aboard sinking off Florida coast
ABOVE: A look at today's headlines
Two people were rescued from a million-dollar luxury yacht that started sinking off the Florida coast on Saturday.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, Jacksonville watchstanders were notified just before 11:40 a.m. that an 80-foot motor yacht named Atlantis had begun taking on water three miles off St. Augustine Beach.
The operator of the yacht said their vessel struck an object in the water.
Marine units from the St. Johns Sheriff's Office and the St. Augustine Police Department responded to the scene and were able to rescue both passengers on the yacht.
According to WFLA , the Atlantis yacht appears to be a 1999 or early 2000s model of the Sunseeker Predator 80. WFLA adds that a 2001 Predator that is 5 feet shorter than Atlantis is listed for $975,000.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner agencies for their invaluable assistance during this case," Senior Chief Petty Officer Ricardo Santacana, command duty officer, said.
Watchstanders issued an alert to other mariners to make them aware of the partially submerged vessel.
According to the United States Coast Guard, the yacht's owner will arrange salvage.
Santacana reminds boaters heading out to the water as the weather warms up to verify their vessels are stocked with all the necessary safety equipment.
"This ensures that responders, as demonstrated in this case, can swiftly locate you and render assistance when an emergency arises,” Santacana said.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation.

2 rescued from sinking 80-foot yacht off St. Augustine Beach, Florida
Two people were rescued Saturday after the luxury yacht they were on started sinking three miles off St. Augustine Beach, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.
The boat's operator reportedly told the Coast Guard the 80-foot Atlantis motor yacht took on water after striking an object. St. John's County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post the yacht struck a dredge pipe piling .
According to the Coast Guard, the yacht's operator activated an emergency position indicating radio beacon which helped validate the vessel’s position.
St. John's County Fire Rescue and St. Augustine Police Department marine units assisted the Coast Guard by responding to the scene and rescuing both occupants from the yacht.
One of the boat's occupants was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, St. John's County Fire Rescue said.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner agencies for their invaluable assistance during this case," U.S. Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Ricardo Santacana said.
“With the weather improving and mariners heading out onto the water, it's imperative for everyone to verify the presence of all necessary safety equipment aboard their vessel. This ensures that responders, as demonstrated in this case, can swiftly locate you and render assistance when an emergency arises.”
The boat's owner will arrange salvage, the Coast Guard said.
The incident is under investigation.

Amateur radio operators and collectors tune in to the Salvation Army for HAMfest
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Hundreds of amateur radio enthusiasts and operators gathered at the Salvation Army in Springfield for HAMfest on Saturday.
HAM radio is one of the only forms of communication that doesn’t become affected during storms or large disasters, making operators a necessity in these situations. HAM is also a hobby for many people, allowing operators to talk to people all over the globe.
The event featured a flea market-style showcase of amateur radio equipment. Attendees could also see presentations by guest speakers about various communication topics.
The event was put on by the Southwest Missouri Amateur Radio Club (SMARC), a local club for HAM radio operators.
“So people come into it for a variety of reasons. A lot of it is the public safety aspect, Sky Warn, helping with the weather, that’s all volunteers out there looking for storms to keep people safe and get the ground truth back to the weather service. And it’s just a great hobby, you get to meet a lot of new people, and friends, and the stuff that you make...it really makes it worth it,” said Billy Dallton with SMARC.
SMARC does a lot of public service as well, working with Sky Warn and National Weather Service, as well as Amature Radio Emergency Services
SMARC, established in 1947, is a nonprofit corporate foundation headquartered in Springfield. Its mission is to advance scientific study and expertise in radio communication while promoting the spirit of scientific inquiry among amateur radio operators.

The layouts and destructibility for both maps has also been changed to improve player comfort and navigation, and provide more of a challenge for Attackers. Both Stadium maps will be included in all rest of playlists: Standard (with the new filter system), Quick Match (with correspondent preseteups), as well as Arcade and Custom Game.

Previous audio settings have been reverted to default to avoid potential conflicts.
FLASHBANG CUSTOMIZATION

To help players better understand important sections of the map, we've added a guidance tool. Players can set markers for stairs, drone vents, and hatches to better familiarize themselves with the map and improve their tactics.

LePage actually bought the yacht for $1,575,000, making it overinsured without Accelerant’s knowledge and ...

The MCY 65 looks, feels, functions, and even smells like a megayacht—or maybe that's just the new boat smell. Northern Marine has just launched its latest 57 pilothouse long-range expedition yacht, designed for an owner-operator to cruise anywhere in the world. About 50 of them were built from 2002 to 2010 at an average cost of $1.6 million. I found just three currently available for brokerage, from $999,000 to $1.29 million. The limited turnover speaks to the fact that the 58 Pilothouse is a yacht that owners love to run. More: 50'-99', Brokerage, Motoryachts, Ocean Alexander.
