This was by far the best one day tour I spent while in Lebanon. You get to see such diversity ing one day. You get to see such a drastic difference in Lebanese society in single day. You get to see conservative Tripoli and the old Souks. Then in less than a 20 minute drive, you see liberal Batroun and people on the beach. What’s unique about this experience that you will not find anywhere else in the world, is that that both Tripoli and Batroun are both Labenese. Dave did a great job explaining and entertaining. Dave is a life-long resident of Beirut so can add value and insight that others might not be able to. We moved at my pace, and Dave gave me insight into the current state of Lebanese affairs, the struggling economy, historical background, and so much more!! Dave knows Beirut and Lebanon very well and speaks all the languages and has many contacts throughout the various religious, political, and cultural groups. During the tour Dave eventually got me to my Hotel to check-in, and then we continued on our tour of Beirut. We made several trips with them, some just by ourselves, others in a group. The guides were always pleasant and knowledgeable. They took us to, or recommended nice restaurants, good but not terrible expensive and certainly, no "tourist traps". Same things for the stores. At one point during the tour he acted like he was taking me to some special place that he was doing me some special favor by taking me to, and it ended up just being him dumping me off with the sales people of some boring soap shop where he obviously gets commissions. I had zero interest and it was an very awkward and annoying situation obviously designed to manipulate me to just cave into the pressure and buy something. It was a slimy and unprofessional move. Also he walks so fast and never even bothers check to see if you’re still with him. Id stop for half a second to take a picture of something and he’d be way off in the distance and Id almost lose him multiple times. And it was just me and him, its not like i was being slow or holding up a group. It was very eye opening to see the poverty the old part of the city surroundings when walking in the heart of the Islamic city in which Dave ensured we all were safe at all times and brought us to some great locations like the citadel. I 'm going through the process of moving to a state with one of the highest per-capita boating populations in the country as well as thousands of miles of coastline along the great lakes and abundant amounts of smaller lakes that are fabulous for boating as well. Simply put, in addition to getting a truck ... I'm saving up for a new boat too. Unfortunately, that's not as easy of a decision as you might think. For instance, in St Joseph, MI - where our new condo is - I can get a used pontoon boat and cruise the river and possibly the lake on a calm day but to go out and have fun fishing on Lake Michigan, I'd need a completely different type of vessel.

Fortunately, thanks to the internet, there are plenty of resources to learn about different types of boats and talk with enthusiasts and current boat owners to get their advice too. Plus, because of this open market, boats are more affordable and attainable than ever before. To ensure you get the boat of your dreams at a reasonable price, this boat-buying guide should help.

For the purposes of this guide on how to buy the right boat, we're going to specifically focus on power boats since sailboats and manually propelled watercraft such as kayaks and canoes are completely different categories with their own unique requirements.

Are You Ready To Become A Boat Owner?

 Being a boat owner is a big responsibility and that's certainly true if you live in an area where boating isn't a year-round activity. For instance, in Michigan boating is huge during the summer but that season only lasts from April to September at most and then for the rest of the year you need to take the boat out of the water and store it somewhere safe. This was by far the best one day tour I spent while in Lebanon. You get to see such diversity ing one day. You get to see such a drastic difference in Lebanese society in single day. You get to see conservative Tripoli and the old Souks. Then in less than a 20 minute drive, you see liberal Batroun and people on the beach. What’s unique about this experience that you will not find anywhere else in the world, is that that both Tripoli and Batroun are both Labenese. Dave did a great job explaining and entertaining. Enjoyed this Tour to Baalbak, Anjar and Ksara. Dave is an expert and pointed out lots of details about the history of these sites, their historical significance, and added value and knowledge that only a professional like him can! We made several trips with them, some just by ourselves, others in a group. The guides were always pleasant and knowledgeable. They took us to, or recommended nice restaurants, good but not terrible expensive and certainly, no "tourist traps". Same things for the stores. Head into the souk, a frenetic maze of jewelry shops, kaake vendors, and juice stands. At one point during the tour he acted like he was taking me to some special place that he was doing me some special favor by taking me to, and it ended up just being him dumping me off with the sales people of some boring soap shop where he obviously gets commissions. I had zero interest and it was an very awkward and annoying situation obviously designed to manipulate me to just cave into the pressure and buy something. It was a slimy and unprofessional move. Also he walks so fast and never even bothers check to see if you’re still with him. Id stop for half a second to take a picture of something and he’d be way off in the distance and Id almost lose him multiple times. And it was just me and him, its not like i was being slow or holding up a group. Like I said, he’s an interesting guy, if he stops the slimy soap shop con and actually lets people take a photo or look at something for half a second every once in a while without having to stress and go running after him the tour would be much improved. It was very eye opening to see the poverty the old part of the city surroundings when walking in the heart of the Islamic city in which Dave ensured we all were safe at all times and brought us to some great locations like the citadel. We then went to the Christian/catholic district which we not far and was the complete opposite in culture and modernisation of buildings and during the trip Dave’s goal was to show you both the Islamic and Christian side which was achieved I would definitely recommend this tour for the individual that want to see the real Lebanon and see both sides of the coin Read more Written 6 May 2023

Hendersonville man accused of forging checks to buy a new boat. And this is far from his first time doing so.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Hendersonville boat dealer says he had a boat stolen from his lot. Only, this story doesn't involve a break in.

General Manager Eric Fitzgerald knows what he's selling, and for the most part, who he's selling to. So Fitzgerald didn't think twice when a familiar looking customer, Chase Brown, came in wanting to purchase a used Malibu wake boat.

"He’s been coming in for about a year. He has bought stuff in the pro-shop. He’s talked to us about buying boats. He’s friends with a lot of our customers," explained Fitzgerald, General Manager for TNT Watersports. "He went and got a cashier’s check, came back, paid for it, left with the boat like we always do."

Only, the check bounced. So the TNT team called Chase. He gave them an explanation and another check.

"Said that there was a problem with his bank, that there was a fraud alert on his account so they wouldn’t release the funds and he was going to bring us another check. Couple of days later, he brought us another check," said Fitzgerald.

It was only after that second check bounced that Eric realized, both were sophisticated forged cashier's checks. This is the first time in 20 years this has happened to us," he said.

Understandably, Eric wants his boat back. So he posted to social media. Instead of people recognizing the boat, they recognized Chase.

"Since then, we have received numerous messages from people here in town, people in Illinois, people in other states saying he has defrauded them of thousands and thousands of dollars," said Fitzgerald.

Quite the Rap Sheet

Perhaps this is a good time to tell you, Fitzgerald is also a 30 year retired veteran of Metro Nashville Police. He immediately started digging deeper and found the 25-year-old has quite the rap sheet.

"I found where he had been indicted in Illinois for fraud of 750,000 dollars," Fitzgerald said.

The Illinois Times out of Springfield reports a 21-year-old Brown was convicted of federal wire fraud involving selling medical equipment that was never delivered, using a stolen credit card to buy a Jeep Wrangler and bouncing a $375,000 check to a hospital. The article says Brown also lied on a credit card application to receive a six figure line of credit to buy aviation fuel and jet set until he reached the credit limit.

On a local level, Fitzgerald says he got a flood of calls from people who did business with Brown that never got paid for their services.

"Hey, he took me for $8,000, $10,000 — whatever the case may be," he said. "He owes his own roommate $26,000 dollars."

Evidently, Brown also used a forged check to purchase a boat at the Nashville Nautical Club too.

Constant contact

Believe it or not, the story gets weirder. Normally, when a fraudster pulls something like this, they go underground. Not only has Chase Brown been in contact with the team at TNT Watersports, he was texting with one of the salesmen during our interview with Fitzgerald.

"He’s been texting Lou, calling Lou," Fitzgerald explained.

Apparently, Chase has repeatedly asked the boat dealer to take their social media post down and still contends their money is coming. Fitzgerald doesn't buy it.

"It’s obvious that there’s no money, and if there is money, the money was gotten from illegal sales," he said.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald says he has gotten a tip about the whereabouts of the missing Malibu. He's hopeful, with the help of law enforcement, he'll be able to get the boat back and Brown back behind bars.

Going forward, Fitzgerald says there will be changes at the store for all buyers, whether he knows them or not.

"We will verify everything, regardless of whether we know you or have seen you," he said.
