Comparable Interior to most 35-36' sloops!

Hinterhoeller Yachts of Canada produced about 1,000 of these immensely  popular cat boats.  Mark Ellis designed the boat to be very easy to sail with a single wishbone rigged mainsail, and a modern fin keel and spade rudder.   The result was a boat that is surprisingly fun to sail, and that points just as well as other sloops on the same vintage.  Off the wind, catboats are fast.  The build quality of Hinterhoeller is legendary .   

At 11'10" beam for 30'4" length, the beam to length ratio is extreme in comparison to most monohulled  sailboats.  This results in an enormous  amount of living space, and a very comfortable cockpit  with clean uncluttered decks.  

Resolute is in good condition, but she is very simply outfitted.   She is set up for day sailing now.  If her next owner is interested in cruising, she could use refrigeration, updated electronics, buffing and waxing, and air conditioning for comfort at the dock.

The Nonsuch 30 Ultra has a spacious and practical layout for a 30-foot sailboat. Starting forward is the master stateroom with a double berth to port and a vanity and hanging locker to starboard. Excellent storage in lockers. There is a door that closes the stateroom off from the main salon. The head is next aft to starboard with a separate shower stall. There are two entrances, one from the main salon and the other from the master stateroom. The galley is opposite to port. The main salon has a settee to port and an L-shaped dinette that converts to a double berth giving a total sleeping capacity for 5 to starboard.

Brokers Remarks

"Resolute"  is a very simply outfitted example of what Hinterhoeller used to refer to the as "The greatest thirty-foot sailboat of all time".  She has mostly been used for day sailing, so she is not currently outfitted to cruise.   For most people looking to cruise, she will need some electronics and a refrigeration system.  

In my opinion, the Hinterhoeller quality is on par with many high-end semi-custom builders.  It is extremely rare to find any structural issues with these boats. 

She has traditional New England catboat lines, a free-standing spar with wishbone boom, a modern fin keel and a spade rudder.   Her interior volume easily compares to most 35 footers .  The well respected Canadian builder, Hinterhoeller, produced over 1000 of these stout and simple cruising machines.   Her quality construction is apparent everywhere you look, and her sailing abilities of will surprise you.

Sailboat is for sale, "AS IS" Good condition. This is a very, very solid sailboat. Selling due to health issues, wife and ex-wife issues, grown daughter issues, and more issues, etc. This sailboat comes with the 4' draft, great for the Bahamas. This sailboat is perfect for single handling. It is basically a catboat. All lines come to the cockpit, you do everything except the anchor from the cockpit. This sailboat has only one giant Mack heavy duty mainsail (500+ square feet). The sail is like new, approximately 3 years old, previous owner said he paid $8,000 for it. The sail has 3 reef points that you control from the cockpit. The mast is unstayed so there is no worry or expense in regards to rigging. Sailing downwind you can put the sail out 90 degrees since there is no rigging to get in the way. When we were coming back from the Bahamas, wind was directly off the stern, sail all the way out 90 degrees, autopilot on all day, we were doing 10 knots and more. Everything goes with the sailboat. 1988 Nonsuch 30 Ultra Designed by Mark Ellis and built by Hinterhoeller Marine, the Nonsuch Ultra is known for comfort, ease of handling, and simplicity of her rig. She has the interior space of many 35-footers with 6'3" of standing headroom. There is a double berth in the forward private stateroom, a 6'6" Settee to port (converts to single berth) and a 6'7" Settee to starboard that converts to a double berth. She is powered by a Universal M-35 diesel. The sail is removed each year for cleaning, inspection and storage. THE BOAT NEEDS SOME NEW ELECTRONICS AND HAS BEEN PRICED WITH THAT IN MIND.

1980 30 Nonsuch Classic Catboat   Well cared for and considerably updated Nonsuch 30 Classic. Her experienced and knowledgeable owners have cared for her with an open checkbook and it shows in every respect.   The design of this uncomplicated cruiser is from the board of highly respected Mark Ellis and she was built by George Hinterhoeller, two prominent and powerful names in the yachting industry. He modified the traditional catboat hull, giving it a distinctive sheer with a finer entry and has carried the maximum beam father aft. Since there is no mast in the cabin and the nearly 12-foot beam is carried well on both ends, the Nonsuch 30 has much more interior volume than its length would suggest, even when compared with more modern designs. The cabin is laid out with opposing settees forward with a dropleaf table between, a workable L-shaped galley, a large head compartment with shower, and quarter berths aft; the starboard one is a double.   Underwater, the fin keel and partially balanced spade rudder largely eliminates the considerable weather helm common to most catboats. And while the plumb bow and stern, distinctive sheer, and highly cambered coachroof also characterize the Nonsuch 30, its most prominent feature is the tall, tapered, unstayed mast with a wishbone boom.   The sail is handled from the safety of the large cockpit. Running rigging consists of a main halyard, a mainsheet, a choker line, which easily controls the fullness or flatness of the sail by adjusting the fore-and-aft position of the wishbone boom. The mast tends to bend leeward when the wind freshens, which spills the wind from the sail and keeps the boat from being overpowered. Along with the wide beam and a 39-percent ballast to displacement ratio, this makes for a very stable and forgiving boat.   Call today to schedule a personal showing appointment.
