History of North Wind

North Wind yachts, a reputable boat manufacturer, was founded in Barcelona, Spain in 1973. The company started by producing sailing yachts that quickly found their way into the hearts and docks of many yacht enthusiasts. Fuelled by an ambition to create high performance, durable, and comfortable yachts, North Wind's founding principle was to incorporate cutting-edge nautical technology, design, and craftsmanship in their vessels. Their commitment to quality and the superior craftsmanship famously associated with Spanish boat-building soon garnered them an international reputation in the yacht industry.The company faced several difficulties in the early 2000s that momentarily halted their production. However, North Wind was resilient and in 2014, successfully relaunched under new ownership, following a brief period of insolvency. The company relocated it facilities and is currently headquartered in Sant Andreu de la Barca, still within vicinity of Barcelona, maintaining its roots and tradition of Spanish boat-building.As of today, North Wind is known for its dynamic range of sailing yachts and motor yachts. Since the owner order his sail boat, that was 1985, until these days, he has used Itxas Ertz (means the border of the ocean in Basque language) as is home, living on board. The first twenty years combining the time on board and the other time in his big fishing ship. In all this time he has crossed de Atlantic several times and sailed many times between Spain and the Canary Islands. This is a real sail boat, strong, comfortable and for long distances, well maintained, although now some jobs in maintenance has to be done. Aspect that gains credentials with the passage of time is the solidity of construction. The North Wind 47 is laminated with a Plasticel rigid foam sandwich in hull and deck.

Broker's Comments

The last ever built Northwind 47 yacht is a gem of a boat, which would probably be more than happy in 50 knots of wind. It looks super comfortable and well built and it is moored within a beautiful marina on the island of Korcula in south Dalmatia in a rarely available berth.

There are a double V berth cabin and a port side cabin with 2 single berths in the front. There is also a heads compartment to front starboard. Big saloon has an U-shaped settee to port and chart table to starboard. Functional galley is located aft starboard with passage to Owner's cabin back aft, with double bed and en-suite heads compartment with separate shower cubicle.

Refurbishment was made back in 2010 when all the rigging was renewed, the hull and topsides were all repainted, the interior was revarnished and new blinds for the saloon windows and new covers for all the seating covers were fitted.

This North Wind 47 hasn't however been used for some time and requires care and maintenance.
