How do I choose the right sized venue for 100 guests?
Do you have any tips on how to choose the right sized venue for this number of guests?
Try not to overwhelm yourself by visiting too many venues. Choose your top five or six and go from there. Seeing too many venues will just cause your brain to have an “information overload" and leave you more confused than when you started out. It's important to choose a venue that suits you taste and matches the style or theme of your vision.
There are going to be pros and cons with any venue you find so work out your top five most important aspects and go with the venue that suits these best. The venue should evoke some sort of emotional connection and get you excited about the wedding day. It also helps to choose a venue with a long standing reputation for high quality service and great staff.
And finally, if in doubt, ask! Dont assume or leave anything to chance. If you have any concerns, address them during the site inspection or as soon as possible before confirming your booking with a deposit.
What should I consider when looking for my wedding venue?
I'm about to start looking for my wedding venue. What are some things that I need to consider when searching for the perfect venue?

How far in advance should I book my wedding venue?
I don't want to miss out on my dream venue. So, how far in advance should I make the booking?
With Saturdays being the most popular day to get married, and considering there are only 52 weekends in a year, it doesn't leave much leeway with most couples also vying for the same dates . We suggest trying to booking 12 to 18 months ahead especially if you are looking at the peak months of November, February and March.
Winter weddings tend to be a little more short lead and we suggesting tying to secure a date over the cooler months at least 8 to 12 months out. If you can be more flexible, and your preferred date at your chosen venue is booked, consider an off-peak night of Friday or Sunday which are usually the next days to book at the Saturday. Most venues will also offer off-peak rates or reduced minimum numbers which can also be a huge benefit if you're looking at a smaller celebration.

Atlantic Group speaks out on Melbourne’s Central Pier closure
A prominent events, entertainment and lifestyle group that operates several venues on Docklands’ Central Pier in Melbourne has addressed the site’s indefinite closure due to safety concerns.
Last Wednesday, engineers advised Development Victoria that Central Pier was unsafe for use and required immediate closure, throwing business operators at the site into chaos.
Development Victoria spokesperson Geoff Ward said engineers have been inspecting the pier every two months since November 2018 and had previously provided certification that supported the ongoing occupation of the pier.
However, given the notice received from the engineers last Wednesday, Ward said there was “no alternative but to require the pier be vacated in order to preserve public safety”.
Atlantic Group has since spoken out about the decision to shut down Central Pier, with several of its venues having been affected by the closure including Woolshed, Mill & Bakery, Austage Events, Mama Rumaan, Alumbra, Peninsula, MAIÀ, Sumac, and Sketch.
Peninsula at Central Pier, Docklands
At this stage, it is unknown when the pier will be reopened, according to the group.
“Our number one priority is the safety of our customers, our clients and our staff,” a statement by Atlantic Group read.
“We have been a proud part of the Docklands community since 2007 and we will continue to employ the 1,000 Atlantic Group staff who work on Central Pier as we work to resolve this issue.
“We are also committed to providing the very best experience for our customers and are assisting with the relocation of all events currently booked for Central Pier in the coming weeks.
Atlantic Group said all impacted clients will be accommodated and “every effort will be made to deliver an exceptional experience for you”.
“We will work with Development Victoria to understand exactly what has occurred and we will seek clarity on when we will be able to return to our venues on Central Pier,” the group said.
All other venues and businesses operated by Atlantic Group including The Atlantic, The Den, Fish & Chippery by The Atlantic, Gardens House, destination caterer Tommy Collins by Atlantic Group, major event catering preparations for the Melbourne Cup Carnival, and Port Melbourne Yacht Club will continue to operate as normal.
“We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for their patience,” the statement said.
“We also appreciate the overwhelming support received from our suppliers and other venues during this period to assist us and our clients.”
Atlantic Group is encouraging anyone who has any concerns or queries to email [email protected].
