Let's focus on the 38.80m classically styled sailing yacht  atalante  by dutch yacht builder claasen shipyards of the truly classic 128-series. her elegant design comes from the boards of hoek design.

This Truly Classic was built for a repeat owner and is the successor of a Truly Classic 90, which sailed under the same name. The owner wanted more comfort, more space, and more speed , so the designer focused on performance. Under her classic dress are modern technology, like a carbon rudder, carbon mast with 3DI sails by North , and a deep draught keel with thin foil. Claasen delivered a sailing yacht to my taste .

André Hoek comments: “She represents unrivaled value for money, and the craftsmen at Claasen have excelled in terms of the execution of materials, joinery and finishing. The same goes for the technical aspects – the systems, the layout of the engine room, the hydraulics, the cabling. Atalante has been built to a truly impressive level of quality.

When we descend the stairs to the aft, we find the main saloon with a bar. Behind that is the full-beam owner’s suite, which has its entrance and a deckhouse on the aft deck. The owner enjoys sailing, so he has a steering wheel in the cockpit and a navigation desk with two screens in the deckhouse.

When we are back at the main deck house and follow the stairs down, we are in the guest area. There is a VIP cabin on the port side with a sofa and a twin cabin on the starboard side. Both have ensuite bathrooms. Furthermore, ahead is the crew area with a galley.

Back on Deck

Atalante  features several practical social areas, suitable for alfresco lounging, dining, or sunbathing with fantastic views. These areas are covered by Biminis but can be removed, e.g., for racing.

Rondal is the one who flushes the hatches on the foredeck. Atalante also features a boarding platform to port that folds out of the hull hydraulically and is equipped with side steps to facilitate easy boarding. The diesel-powered Williams tender can also be refueled directly from the yacht via a hose reel.

Gio has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 12 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Gio is built with a aluminium hull and mahogany superstructure, with composite decks. Powered by 1 x diesel Steyr (MO236K42) 236hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 12 knots. Her water tanks store around 800 Litres of fresh water.

ATALANTE 1 for sale

ATALANTE 1 is the second Truly Classic 90 sailing yacht ; she greatly benefits from the expertise of her architect Hoek Design and Dutch builder Claasen Jachtbouw. Throughout her sailing career, ATALANTE 1 has proven to be an excellent family cruising yacht in all destinations, combining a spacious interior and exterior layout with performance.

Participating in various regattas in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, ATALANTE 1 was winner of the Hoek Design Cup two years running in 2012 and 2013. She also achieved second place overall in the Palma Superyacht Cup in 2013.

The interiors of ATALANTE 1 are extensive with alfresco living areas, with the central cockpit serving as a social centre for guests and the aft cockpit for sailing functions. ATALANTE also features a drop down platform, situated amidships, to give ease of access to the tender and for engaging in water activites.

The 27.50 m sailing yacht acadia is a truly classic 90 from the boards of hoek design which showcases how a family cruising yacht can also be ideal for chartering and racing. she features a great deal of new technology and some highly refined woodwork and outfitting. the owner of acadia was involved in all aspects of the design process, from the engravings on the cap rail to the marbles and stones in the interior., flying high.

The 35.60 m keel-stepped mast and 11.40 m boom were made in carbon fibre by Hall Spars . The carbon fibre sail package supplied by Doyle includes a mainsail, yankee and staysail, plus a red & white top-down furling Asymmetrical A3 and a 580 m² A2. The rig is lighter than on Kealoha and Atalante , offering Acadia significantly enhanced sailing capacity. The visual impact of the rig is complemented by having the anodising on the mast in a silver colour, matching the winches and deck hardware. Even the furlers have been silver anodised and the carbon furler foils on the headstays painted in metallic silver. The effect of these silver accents against the titanium grey sails is stunning.

Options on deck

The twin cockpit arrangement comes into its own on Acadia. The centre cockpit is a fine place for socialising: the option to fully enclose the space with a bimini ensures a nice area to sit if it rains. A folding cockpit table with built-in fridge means guests can sail with the leaves down and get around the cockpit comfortably. Removable fiddles and custom holders ensure drinks don’t get spilled. Anchor up for lunch, take the fiddles away, put up the table leaves and you have a superb dining area for eight people. As the owner likes to be involved in sailing and helming, the wheel is placed in the aft cockpit. The stainless steel work on the steering position and monitoring post is exquisite in this cockpit, which contains a smaller version of the folding table and comfortable seating.

Timeless elegance

The interior ambience is one of timeless elegance with raised and fielded mahogany panels and white-painted panels above the wainscot level. One of the key unifying aspects between the deckhouses and the rest of the interior is the use of Swietenia mahogany. Twelve cubic metres of wood were sourced to provide the seven cubic metres needed of just the right colour and grain, all of which has been used to great effect.
