From the 1960s to the late 1980s, California-based Ericson Yachts produced thousands of sailboats. One of the first models to emerge was the Ericson 30, designed by Bruce King; 150 were built between 1966 and 1970.

Some are specific to Ericson 32-3, some may apply to other boats. Wide side deck: CD 25-D's shrouds are outboard, E-28 are inboard so moving forward will be a different experience. 32-3 has a wider deck which makes moving forward easier. Sabre 28's shrouds are in the middle, tough to navigate for larger person.

A Partial Armchair History of Ericson Yachts
The E-35-3/E-34, E-32-3, and the E-28 were produced. In 1985 Ericson was sold by CML to Acquico, Eugene Kohlmann president. In 1990 Ericson ceased operations and liquidated assets. Some of the molds the E-26, E-28, E-32, E-34, E-38, and E-43 (never built) were bought by Pacific Seacraft, a subsidiary of Singmarine Corp.

The 66-year-old Urbanczyk has sailed alone around the world in a 30-foot Ericson, achieved a record-breaking crossing of the Pacific in an Ericson 27, and sailed at the age of 21 across the Baltic Sea in a raft.

The following sequence illustrates dismounting the entire pedestal from the boat, and begins after removal of the pedestal guard, steering wheel, and compass. When replacing shift and throttle cables only Steps 2-4 are necessary. 1. Remove the large stainless countersunk bolts from the deck.
