Of course, the vessel is not just big, it’s beautiful, too. In fact, A&R refer to it as “the black beauty.” Penned inside and out by the experts at Joseph Dirand Architecture in Paris, the 388-footer is characterized by clean, minimalist lines, a series of cascading decks aft and a prominent pointed bow. In order not to interrupt the black hull’s sleek silhouette, the yacht eschews the usual anchor pockets forward in favor of underwater anchors on the keel.

“This yacht impresses with its iconic and clear design,” Abeking & Rasmussen’s sales director Till von Kraus adds.

Perfect for ocean enthusiasts, the interior features a “Neptune Lounge” with an expansive underwater window that affords a cinematic view of the world below the waves. Another, entirely different viewing experience can be enjoyed from the crow’s nest at the foot of the mast—whale watching, perhaps? In addition, the forward sundeck is equipped with a large marble-clad fireplace and a plush round sofa from which you can take in more ocean vistas.

A&R notes one particularly challenging element of the build was the construction of the giant 52-foot hatch for the tender garage port side. Evidently, the team succeeded and created a spot for a large day boat. There is also a fully certified helipad on the sky deck.

Exclusive: Abeking & Rasmussen launches 118m superyacht Project 6507

The highly secretive 118m (385 ft) superyacht Project 6507 hit the water at high tide this morning from Abeking & Rasmussen 's facilities in Lemwerder, Germany – representing the yard's largest vessel built to date.

Spanning seven decks, the yacht has been revealed with a unique low profile and striking monochrome look, with a glossy black hull and white superstructure, alongside a plumb bow and floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural light and create wide vistas to provide a harmonious balance with her surroundings.

She also features a starboard nemo observation lounge offering guests unique underwater views from the comfort of the yacht, similar to Abeking & Rasmussen's 74.5-meter yacht M'BRACE (previously ELANDESS), as well as superyacht SAVANNAH – one of the first to encompass this feature on board a superyacht. 

Known only as Project 6507, the megayacht’s specifications and amenities have been kept a closely guarded secret, but pictures reveal she has a fully-certified helipad on her sundeck and vast swimming pool on her main deck aft, as well as a wealth of alfresco relaxation areas across her voluminous deck spaces. 

We also now know that her exterior and interior design come from the boards of Parisan studio Joseph Dirand Architecture, who have clearly chosen to keep guests connnected to their natural environment with a host of innovative features and open design. The yacht's naval architecture comes courtesy of Abeking & Rasmussen's in-house design team.

She is rumoured to feature state-of-the-art technology and engineering for all her onboard systems, as well as a hybrid propulsion system enabling her to cruise in diesel-electric mode, significantly reducing her energy consumption and providing considerable fuel savings to her owner.

It’s clear that Abeking and Rasmussen have brought all of their experience to bear on their most recent project, the first since the launch of superyacht SOARING in 2020.

It is expected that Project 6507 will undertake sea trials in Germany early next year with an anticipated delivery date for early Spring. It is not yet known whether she will be made available for luxury yacht charters .

Abeking & Rasmussen Heritage

Georg Abeking and Henry Rasmussen opened the doors to the Abeking & Rasmussen shipyard in Lemwerder, Germany, in 1907 and this is where the builder has remained since. The location is ideally suited on the Weser river and is easily accessed today by the Bremen airport. There also are ample motorways and railway connections to access the yard, but when Abeking & Rasmussen opened there, they chose the location for its rural feel, but urban infrastructure and water access.

In 1925, the brand gained its first commercial success as a Henry Rasmussen design garnered much acclaim in the United States. In 1930, Abeking & Rasmussen developed the first-ever Minesweeper and proceeded to produce 250 more of the vessel. In 1936, stemming from top performance by an Abeking & Rasmussen in an international regatta, orders for the brand’s yachts spiked.

By 1963, the firm launched the world’s first welded aluminum hull sailing yacht, GERMANIA IV. She became the star of Germany’s regatta scene and won the Travemuende week. Ten years later Abeking & Rasmussen launched KALAMOUN, the world’s fasted diesel motor yacht. By 1983 the builder completed an exceptionally received refit on AQUARIUS, a 61-meter three-masted sailing yacht. Four years later SILVER SHALIS, the fasted jet-drive yacht in her day was launched by the builder.

In 1995, Abeking & Rasmussen made waves with HETARIOS, a 170-foot (52m) sloop commonly regarded as the last mahogany luxury yacht built. In 2017, Abeking & Rasmussen opened Hanger F. A new extra-extra-large production hanger for yachts up to 152 feet (125m). In 2018 the brand celebrated its 111thyear by delivering its 111thyacht. The continued dedication to clients and to creating the world’s preeminent luxury yachts built to the highest standards is why the same yard that opened its doors in 1907 is still producing beautiful luxury yachts today.

Lower Deck The Owner's stateroom with centerline king berth is below amidship with entertainment center aft, beautiful his and hers onyx bathroom with centerline steam shower forward. Further aft to port is a queen berth stateroom with expansive desk area and ensuite bath with shower. There are two twin ensuite berth staterooms further aft, one with shower, one with a Jacuzzi. Main Level The Owner's office/library is all the way forward with spectacular windows. There is extensive desk space against the aft bulkhead. A serving pantry is further aft with cross ship access to the crew corridor. The main galley with granite counters and commercial stainless steel appliances including 2 refrigerators, 2 freezers, and alto-sham oven, also has access to the crew corridor and then out to the port side deck. A day head is outboard to starboard.  The dining salon is open to the main salon and is aft of the galley, with extensive crystal and table service storage around. The main salon is further aft with entertainment center against the aft bulkhead, L-shaped couches to port around a coffee table and two club chairs opposite. The salon benefits from large windows and beautiful high gloss pear woodwork. The main salon is further aft through two etched glass doors. This is a beautiful room, also finished in high gloss pear wood with couches to port and two game tables, each with four chairs opposite. There is access to the lower deck aft area from the starboard staircase or out to the open aft deck through two sliding glass doors. The forward crew area has a double cabin forward. A bathroom with stall shower is aft to port. Another upper and lower twin crew cabin is to starboard sharing the head to port. An additional crew cabin with upper and lower berths is aft to starboard with ensuite bathroom with stall shower. The crew mess is opposite and a crew entertainment center is inboard.  The engine rooms is next aft. Just aft of the engine room are two additional guest staterooms, the very spacious laundry center, and the large lazarette with ample storage for water sports gear and a watertight door out to the swim platform. The open aft deck has a teach table with seating for 8 to starboard, and a settee opposite to port. This deck is covered by the sun deck overhead. There is a spiral staircase to the boat deck and flybridge on the port side. Access to the swim platform is down a central stairway and access to the passarelle is slightly offset to port. This entire area was added during her refit and the running gear was moved aft. The lengthening, rebuild, repower, and refit was completed at Delta Marine, Seattle, under the supervision of Bill Langan.

Castine Yacht Club To Honor Concordia Yachts

Sailing between the moon and the stars, Concordia Yachts iconic trademark, designed by Waldo, son of Llewellyn Howland, founder of Concordia Yachts, partnered with C. Raymond Hunt in 1932. In 1938 Llewellyn Howland commissioned the pair to design and build a racing, cruising sailboat that could withstand the choppy seas and stiff breezes of Buzzards Bay, the rest is history. With a total of 103 yachts built, 99 were constructed by the famous German Shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen. Making the Concordias the biggest class of large wooden sailboats ever constructed.

On July 31st at 1600 hrs at the Delano Auditorium, Maine Maritime Academy , 54 Pleasant St, Castine, ME, the Castine Yacht Club will honor the “Concordias” through a symposium including Doug Adkins, author of the definitive biography of Dorade (with foreword by Llewellyn Howland), who brought back from the ashes his Concordia, Coriolis; Queene Foster, author of Chapman Boating Etiquette, who now skippers Concordia Misty; Ben Mendlowitz, noted marine photographer and owner of Concordia Starlight; and Giffy Full, renowned wooden boat surveyor.
