Selene Yachts was founded in 1998 by Howard Chen, a naval architect and marine engineer with a passion for creating luxury long-range trawler yachts. The company initially began as a division of Jet-Tern Marine, a shipyard established by Chen in Zhuhai, China. THE PASSAGE MAKER

Deep hull design and cruiser stern.

The Selene 45 is an entirely Next Generation Selene. She is the smallest model of the popular and proven Selene Pilothouse Trawler line. Designed and built like her larger sisters, she is a serious passage-maker , and a superlative coastwise and inland cruiser. The galley on the new Selene 45 can be offset to starboard providing a spacious salon with an L-shaped sofa in genuine leather and a hi-lo table that can be extended to a large dining table, or the center galley is still an option. The raised pilothouse watch settee offers a commanding view for the crew with a fixed table and  an optional helm chair  can be installed! The Selene 45 is an evolved version of the original Selene 43.

EXTENDED RANGE

The design features the new Deep Hull design with its Cruiser Stern™ that provides a longer water line and less wake drag, as well as more storage space inside the lazarette. It also adds nearly 12″ of height in the engine room  to 66’’, which allows for 200 more gallons (757 l) of fuel! All this is done without increasing the draft, and the LOA is half a foot longer than the first generation Selene 43. Safety is always a priority on all Selene yachts: access to the deck is from the pilothouse port and starboard doors, with sheltered side decks, as well as a Portuguese bridge which keeps the crew safe no matter what the ocean conditions are. On the interior, the next generation design translates to a bigger salon and more comfort and luxury, not to mention a cavernous commissary under the aft end of the salon which can take a huge amount of provisioning, spare parts, dive gear and even a second deep-freezer.

Port Main Engine:

• Cummins QSL9 405 Hp @ 2100 rpm Heavy duty rating rating. Wet exhaust & 24VDC starting
• Gear Box: ZF 360, 2.917:1 reduction
• Alternators: 24VDC, 80AMP
• Walker “Air Sep” crankcase ventilation
• Two (2) 4D batteries connected in series for 24VDCstart
• Engine beds have a 1/2” stainless steel cap on top of the bed and a 1/4″ plate on the sides; plates are to be highly polished stainless steel.

Starboard Main Engine :

• Two (2) 4D batteries connected in series for 24VDC start

Engine Controls and Panels :

• Three (3) stations: pilothouse, flybridge, and aft deck.

The AC electrical system:

• 1 The vessel is fitted with two (2) 240VAC shore inlets at the stern. The ship’s shore power is fed through a 12KVA, 220-250VAC, 50/60Hz isolation transformer.  AC selector control switches allow the operator to select the source(s) of power from either the generator(s) or shore power. The HVAC (air conditioning) may be operated from the ship’s shore power or its own dedicated shore power inlet, which is also equipped with a 12kVA, 220-250VAC, 50/60Hz isolation transformer.  The air conditioning may be operated from 50 Hz or 60 Hz.  AC service is distributed through custom electrical panels containing 240VAC and 120VAC sections, volt and amp meters and individual breakers and fuses for branch circuits.
• 2. There are two (2) 12kVA shore power isolation transformers and two (20) shore power input connections at the stern of the vessel .
• 3 120/240VAC, 7.0kVA inverter systems are used for limited ship power, control power to the helm station, and refrigeration during times when the generators and shore power are offline.
• 4 AC Outlets are standard US format 120VAC. Locations TDB
• 5 All outlets in head compartments, mechanical spaces, exterior and galley are GFCI type. All external outlets have waterproof covers.
• 6 One (1) Glendinning shore power cord retrieval system will be provided for the 240VAC, 50 amp . Ship’s shore power connection. The system will be provided with 50′ of shore power cable. The shore power inlet will be located at the stern of the vessel.

The DC electrical system:

• 1 The DC electrical system is a 24VDC distribution system with a maximum capacity of 800 amp/hours. The DC system powers the ship’s inverter system, the helm station’s DC equipment, and service. DC service is
• Distributed through custom electrical panels containing 24VDC and 12VDC sections, volt and amp meters and individual breakers and fuses for branch circuits.
• 2 Standard batteries are located per machinery layout drawing
• Three 24VDC ships battery bank – Consists of 12, 2-volt AGM batteries @ 800 A/H, each connected in series. A total battery bank capacity of 800 amp/hours is provided for emergency, control, ship equipment and limited operation without operation of a generator or shore power connection.

• J Boarding doors: 1 Port and starboard—opening in two pieces. The top folds up and over, and the bottom opens outboard . Stern doors on port and starboard side aft per drawing. Doors will have “blind” dog locks/handles. Each is provided with a built-in boarding ladder.
• 1 2200 LB capacity hydraulic/240VAC davit with an extendable boom to 20 feet mounted per drawing.

Bottom treatment:

• 1 Five (5) layers of epoxy barrier coat and three (3) coats of anti-fouling paint

Deck Drains:

• 1 Bridge deck and Fly Bridge deck to drain through 2″ deck drains.
• 2 Lower side decks to drain through freeing ports and scuppers.

Control stations:
