Solaris Power 70 first look: Long-ranging cruiser with swish seating areas

Italian style meets trawler yacht range and practicality in the Solaris Power 70. It notably has room aplenty for lounging, with a horseshoe shaped sofa and folding balcony option.

Having successfully made the transition from sail to power with its range of curvaceous sportscruisers , coupés and flybridges from 40-60ft, Solaris is now turning its attention to the long-range cruising market with a striking new 70ft flagship.

Featuring a distinctive reverse-angled windscreen and unusually wide walkaround decks, it is channelling a trawler yacht vibe albeit with a modern, luxury twist.

Central to that is a lavish extended aft cockpit with room for a free-standing dining table under the flybridge overhang as well as a separate lounge area further aft. Steps lead down from here to a similarly oversized hydraulic bathing platform for the full beach club effect.

Plenty of space and facilities on the full-length flybridge

Broad side decks protected by deep bulwarks make it easy for guests to reach another outdoor lounge on the foredeck, where they’ll find a horseshoe-shaped sofa tucked in front of the windscreen and a nicely sheltered bow sunpad.

Unlike Solaris’s existing flybridge craft, which only have space for a couple of helm seats and a sunpad up top, this one has a full fat upper deck with all the usual cooking, dining, lounging and helming facilities.

The interior looks just as luxurious with a large U-shaped galley and a seating/dining area forward next to the starboard helm. There’s even an option for a folding balcony behind it.

Below decks there’s room for a full beam owner’s cabin amidships, a VIP double in the bow, a twin to starboard (all ensuite) and either a small bunk cabin or an extra day heads to starboard in addition to a single crew cabin.

Power comes from twin Volvo IPS950s or IPS1350s for a modest top speed of up to 25 knots. Its real forte, however, is said to be its sea-kindly manners and fuel-efficient hull shape that should give a range of over 600nm from its 4,100-litre tanks. If Solaris can deliver all this with its usual voluptuous style and high-end finish, we’re in for quite a treat.

Solaris Power 70: Long-Range Powerhouse

New Solaris Power 70 offers large volumes, superior comfort and unmistakable elegance. Ideal proportions between on-deck and below-deck spaces afford occupants ease of movement and full enjoyment of life onboard. The large windows offer continuous contact with the sea.

The aft cockpit and beach area are the core features of the new Solaris 70 Long Range, making for high levels of comfort and ease. The flybridge is 40 square meters wide encompassing three living areas: an aft sundeck, a second dining table, and forward of the driving position another sundeck, protected by the windscreen. All these spaces can be customized according to the customer’s wishes.

The stern garage can accommodate a 4-metre water-jet tender arranged longitudinally and served by the movement of the beach area bridge. Its size allows you to store various water toys.

The new Solaris 70, thanks to the star-shaped flared bow rides smoothly over the waves and its deck is always dry. The hull shape has been researched and designed in synergy with the Volvo IPS power plant , resulting in low fuel consumption and therefore longer range (over 600 miles at cruising speed).

SOLARIS, a 139.7 m Motor Yacht built in Germany and delivered in 2021, is the flagship of Lloyd Werft .

Her top speed is 18.0 kn and her cruising speed is 15.0 kn and her power comes from eight MTU diesel engines. She has a gross tonnage of 11247.0 GT and a 22.0 m beam.

She was designed by Marc Newson .

SOLARIS is in the top 5% by LOA in the world. She is one of 70 motor yachts longer than 100m, and, compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her volume is 4109.92 GT above the average.

SOLARIS Yacht – Exquisite $600M Superyacht

The SOLARIS yacht was newly launched in 2021 by Lloyd Werft.

At 139.7 meters (458 ft), SOLARIS is considered an absolute giant in the world of superyachts and ranks as the 15th largest in the world.

No official photos of the interior of the SOLARIS yacht have been released, so the exact design is unknown.

However, judging from the minimalist and modern layout of the decks, it can be assumed that the interior follows a similar trend.

The German designer Frank Neubelt is said to have worked on the interior of SOLARIS, although details of the project are unknown.

The yacht is one of the largest in the world, so it comes as no surprise that the SOLARIS yacht can accommodate an impressive 36 guests onboard.

Around 60 crew members find space in the cabins below deck and are available to tend to every need of the passengers.

The yacht also features a large gym, spa, and several salons to host events and welcome guests.

MY SOLARIS Specifications

MY SOLARIS was built in 2021 by the German shipyard Lloyd Werft and became the largest vessel they had ever delivered.

The total length of the yacht is 139.7 meters (458 ft) which makes her 23 meters (75 ft) shorter than Abramovic’s other famous yacht, ECLIPSE.

Her beam is 21.35 meters (70 ft), and her draft measures 5.95 meters (19.6 ft). Her total weight lies at 11,247 tons.

The SOLARIS yacht is powered by six MTU engines which allow her to travel at an average cruise speed of 18 knots with top speeds of 20 knots.

The exterior of MY SOLARIS was designed by Marc Newson Ltd , an Australian industrial designer who has worked in several industries, including aircraft, furniture, and clothing.

His work is easily recognizable by smooth lines and rounded shapes with geometric elements.

The SOLARIS yacht is a prime example of this with its sleek look, rounded balconies, and many windows. Her eight decks have an unusually light wood that decorates the many open spaces of the vessel.

There are several extendable platforms to release tenders and toys and a large beach club located close to the swimming platform.

Of course, SOLARIS includes a full-size helipad as well as several swimming pools, one of which is located on the largest of the decks aft of the vessel.

Yacht SOLARIS was delivered to Abramovic for a reported price of US $600 million, placing her among the most expensive superyachts in the world.

She generates a further US $50 – $60 million in annual running costs.

ONBOARD COMFORT FEATURES Great livability inside and outside Ideal proportions between on deck and below deck spaces afford occupants ease of movement and full enjoyment of life onboard. The large windows offer continuous contact with the sea. Extensive shaded areas guarantee protection from the sun. The cockpit couldn't be more comfortable.

The facilities of the beach area The aft deck is exceedingly roomy, making access to the sea very easy, both when lifted and semi submerged. The aft cockpit and beach area are the core features of the new Solaris 70 Long Range, making for high levels of comfort and ease.

The foredeck lounge The large horseshoe sofa faces another sofa in the sundeck. These can be connected via an extensible table to create an area for sociable relax, to be enjoyed especially when at anchor.

The walkaround The lateral passageways, m 0.70 wide, make for safety and freedom of movement from stem to stern, even for children. An optional collapsible section of the starboard bulwark opens like a balcony on the sea.

The flybridge This is 40 sq m wide encompassing 3 living areas: an aft sundeck for 4 people, a second dining table sitting 8, and forward of the driving position another sundeck, protected by the windscreen. All these spaces can be customized according to the customer's wishes.

The tender garage The stern garage can accommodate a 4 metre water jet tender arranged longitudinally and served by the movement of the beach area bridge. Its size allows you to store various water toys.

Solaris 55 first look: an ‘aggressive increase in form stability’

Solaris Yachts are launching a new version of their popular Solaris 55 as the brand continues to refine their luxury fast cruisers

During its 50th anniversary, Solaris Yachts is launching a new version of this popular model size, Solaris 55. This shows Solaris and its faithful designer, Soto Acebal, continuing to refine their stylish luxury fast cruisers.

Three heads with separate showers and a longitudinal tender garage are the main differences over the seven-year-old original 55, but it also involves subtle changes throughout. In terms of shape, it has an increased beam (5m) and more volume forward for stability and trim, plus a larger forward cabin and sail locker.

The stark interior styling is by Adi Design in a classic Med layout with the owner’s cabin forward.

“There is an aggressive increase in form stability with special treatment in the forward zones, where local righting moments rise quickly with heeling,” Acebal explains, adding that the changes should improve balance, performance and seaworthiness in Solaris 55.

The low coachroof is also much shorter, allowing for a large and completely flush foredeck, which Acebal compares to a mini maxi. Buyers can also opt for a compact crew cabin option instead of the sail locker. Steps incorporated into the transom, meanwhile, make it easier to access the platform and garage (as per the new 74).

The stark interior styling is by Adi Design in a classic Med layout with the owner’s cabin forward. This en-suite cabin is available with a central or offset berth, while the aft cabins also have their own heads compartments and separate showers.

Solaris is celebrating its half century with the Solaris Cup in Porto Rotondo, Sardinia, in late May. Impressively, over 70 Solaris yachts are expected, including the brand new 74. The Aquileia yard is hoping the first example of the 55 will then be finished in time for Cannes boat show  and the autumn shows.

The new Solaris 55 is the culmination of unparalleled experience and knowledge: the 50 year history of the Solaris Yachts shipyard converge into the Solaris 55, which embodies all the qualities of a boat designed for circumnavigating the globe or for a pleasant day sailing.

Solaris have once again continued their successful collaboration with Naval Architect Javier Soto Acebal, while Adi Design has developed the interior design, and the Solaris team has taken care of the structures, systems, and internal technical design.

Every aspect and detail of the project, every component chosen from the best brands on the market, have found their rightful place thanks to a refined and meticulous study of a boat with a LOA of 16.90 meters and a beam of 5.00 meters.

Hull and deck layout

The hydrodynamic study has defined a modern hull, with a small chine at the bow disappearing into a rounded broad stern, which ensures the longitudinal trim. The deck layout is both clean and functional as a result of specific attention and knowledge of deck ergonomics. The broad cockpit with full-width steering wheels improves visibility during sailing and while manoeuvering in the harbour. The two cockpit tables are extremely comfortable, with a central passage towards the boat’s companionway, which also features two innovative windows that allow increased natural light to enter the cabins and the saloon.

Unique features of this latest Solaris are the opening transom to store the dinghy with outboard engine in a longitudinal position and very convenient steps to access down to the bathing platform, which are moulded into the hull.

The structure, like on every Solaris, is characterized by the connection of the three composite main bulkheads which are laminated and resin bonded to the hull and deck. Furthermore, it has a lead  bulb and cast iron keel, mounted with a coupling flange to the hull structure. A perfect blend of innovation and traditional solutions: Solaris 55 is born from great commitment and care to always ensure the owners safety and comfort.

Below deck, you will instantly notice the perfect symmetry, which is the result of a thorough analysis of distribution of space and light: the traditional interior layout is conceived with a spacious forward owners suite, available in two versions with a central or an offset bed, along with a bathroom with a large shower. The saloon conveys light and symmetry, and can be equipped with a sofa or two large armchairs. The portside L-shaped galley is customizable according to the owner’s needs and can be equipped with every comfort.

The two aft cabins have their own bathroom with aseparate shower. The sail locker can be converted into a crew cabin with integrated bathroom.

Walpole woman, 70, dies after August boat crash in Hingham Bay. Who is now investigating

A 70-year-old East Walpole woman has died three weeks after a boat collision in Hingham Bay .

Patricia Cicalese was one of two people transported Aug. 16 to area hospitals in critical condition, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office, after a crash that involved a 38-foot Sea Ray motorboat and a 21-foot Pisces sailboat. Weymouth and Hingham police and fire marine units responded to the incident off Grape Island about 12:43 p.m.

Cicalese died Saturday, and the other person remains hospitalized with critical injuries.

Massachusetts Environmental Police conducted the initial investigation. Now the district attorney's office has taken the lead in investigating the fatal crash.

Coast Guard suspends search for missing 70-year-old after his empty boat was found off Florida coast

(TMX) - The U.S. Coast Guard said early Friday it suspended its search for a missing boater after his vessel was found empty off the coast of Florida.

At around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, a good Samaritan contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg to report 70-year-old Bert Erwin was overdue reaching Indian Rocks Beach, on Florida’s west coast, between Clearwater and St. Petersburg, after departing Rose Marina on Marco Island, about 160 miles south, on Monday.

Erwin’s 37-foot vessel was found about 28 miles off the coast of Englewood, the approximate halfway point between his departure and destination, with no one aboard.

The Coast Guard issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched rescue crews from Stations Cortez, St. Petersburg, Sand Key and Fort Myers Beach. Rescue crews from Air Stations Miami and Clearwater and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission also joined the search.

Crews searched a total of 8,462 square miles, an area nearly the size of New Jersey, in 10-knot winds and 3-foot seas.

The search was called off at 10 p.m. Thursday, pending new information.

“We offer our deepest condolences to Mr. Erwin’s loved ones,” Lt. Andrew Grady, search and rescue mission coordinator at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg, said in a statement. “One of the hardest decisions to make during a search is a suspension.”
