Yacht charter in the Baltic Sea
With relatively unspoilt landscapes, the Baltics host a mixture of incredible ports each offering some of the world finest sights and the option of heading further off the beaten track in order to witness mother nature at her best.
Chartering a yacht in the Baltic Sea is the very best way to discover a vast and interesting collection of countries, each linked with one another by history, geography and cultures. Exploring from the luxury surroundings of your own yacht will allow you to step away from the usual tourist spots and help you find a new perspective on a collection of nations that have so much to offer.
What to see on a trip to Baltic Sea?
The Baltic Sea is steeped in Viking history and cultural diversity which makes it a truly unique charter destination to be explored. Because of the incredible path carved by the oceans water in the Baltic Sea, there is simply no better way to explore this fascinating region than by boat.
If you choose the bright lights and breathtaking architecture of St Petersburg as your starting point, you can sail all the way to famously quaint city of Tallinn, which is world renowned for its delectable cuisine and captivating scenery – only by chartering a yacht on the Baltic Sea can you experience this unique and magnificent blend of Russian cultural charm and the stunning medieval architecture of Latvia and Estonia.
You can even choose to have St Petersburg as both the starting and end point of your cruise, something we would recommend if only because there is so much to see and do in the former Russian capital. St Petersburg is an imperial capital city that never fails to impress or astound even the most avid traveller. Known as the Venice of the North, this city has given birth and importance to Russian Tsars and become and artistic powerhouse with its galleries and world class ballet facilities. All day sun in the summer, short days in the winter, a unique geography imposes a way of living and doing things, a spectacle to see close up and witness.
On to Tallin, the capital of Estonia, which has long been a plaything of great powers – Danish, Swedish, Polish and the Soviet Empire have all wrestled over this nation. Now, one of the most complete walled cities left in Eastern Europe, this is a city that believes in retaining its heritage and is an absolute must for lovers of both history and the finer things in life – luxury restaurants, atmospheric hotels and a modern culture makes this a city that needs to be seen, not only by tourists but travellers who want to discover a highlight of the Baltic Sea.
A trip into Latvia means a stop off in Riga is a must. Here you will discover a different kind of city to one that you see when first docking. Flamboyant art nouveau is a stark contrast to the austere image it has. Furthermore, it has a buzzing restaurant scene as well as modern art identity. The spirit of modernity rings true in this ancient city.
Why charter a yacht in Baltic Sea?
The Baltic Sea remains one of the most under-discovered locations for many sea lovers, and it is a wonder as to why. With a coastline that captures some of the most stunning ancient and historic cities as well as providing a window into many nations, like Denmark, Finland and Russia, chartering a yacht is one of the, if not the best way to see so many locations with a rich maritime history.
Chartering a yacht in Baltic Sea is not only a great way to learn about new places, and experience new cultures, it’s about discovering a passion for the seas and stories that can be told as well. A trip to the Baltic Sea encourages you want to learn and experience more each and every single time, we can’t recommend it highly enough.

Yacht Charter Baltic Sea
Ten states are on the banks of the Yacht Charter Baltic district: Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, the Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and Poland. The Flensburg Fjord with the city of Flensburg highlights the extreme west of the Yacht Charter destination Baltic Sea, the northernmost point is on the Gulf of Bothnia at the Swedish-Finnish border. Russia’s Saint Petersburg on the Gulf of Finland marks the easternmost point – and the southernmost point is located near Stettin on the Baltic Sea, Szczecin Lagoon.
Most Yacht Charter crews take their yachts over at the Yacht Charter bases in the classic Yacht Charter areas: the most Yacht Charter offers are now to be found at the German Baltic Sea. But also in the Yacht Charter bases in the region of Eastern Sweden / Finland and Western Sweden / Bohuslan are plenty of charter boats available, some Yacht Charter bases are also to be found in Denmark .
The Yacht Charter cruises in the Baltic Sea, however, are usually very international: Yacht Charter crews who take over their sailing yachts in the Southern Baltic Sea tend to explore the Danish South Sea. From the more easterly Yacht Charter bases they explore the coasts of southern Sweden or Poland. Many Yacht Charter skippers like to cross the boundaries between Finland and Sweden via Åland.
There are charter destinations as well now in the Baltic States of Estonia and Lithuania: In Estonia, there is a yacht charter base in Tallinn. The coast of Estonia is about 250 miles long – due to some islands, this is a rather sheltered sailing area. In Lithuania, starting point for yacht charter cruises is Klaipeda.

Yacht Charter Baltic Sea - sailing in the Baltic Sea
Amber, boats, lagoon coasts, the bath of berlin, and an international sailor meeting point.
Cardinal directions, ports, and open borders: great cruise destinations in the North and East
Sailing and water sports have continuously gained popularity in the Baltic Sea region over the last ten years. Today, skippers with boats of all kinds have a huge selection of marinas and ports both in the above-mentioned areas plus in and around Kappeln in the Angeln region, on the edge of the Schlei fjord and its largest city Schleswig, in and around Eckernförde, and at Weissenhäuser beach. There are more opportunities on the coast of the surfing paradise of Fehmarn Island, in Dahme, Grömitz at an Timmendorfer Beach, in the Baltic Sea bathing area Boltenhagen, on the island Poel in the Bay of Wismar, and in Dierhagen, Kühlungsborn and Nienhagen. All those water sport locations plus the many sailing and sport centers in the neighboring country Poland have made the Baltic an ever more popular vacation spot, not least because of the decent prices and modern facilities. Good infrastructure can be found, for example, in ?winouj?cie, Stepnica, Kamie? Pomorski, Dziwnów, and in Dar?owo, Ko?obrzeg (which literally translated means “by the shore”), Trzebie? and Wolin as well as on the inner waters near the cities and municipalities Miedwie, Drawsko, Lubie, Siecino, Pile, Wielimie, Bukowo and Resko. Those towns, too, continue to enjoy increased popularity among international tourists who come to relax by the water or who are searching for water sports to do.
The Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are also of course just a stone’s throw away, past Szczecin and Salzhaff, from the German border. The same applies to the island Bornholm and the entire region of Denmark’s “South Sea” islands, and you can reach the southwestern Swedish province of Skonen and the Schären archipelago further north. The island Aland is halfway between Stockholm (find route suggestion for Stockholm here) and Finland’s capital city, Helsinki, and can be reached by sailboat or motorboat . In turn, people who like boards and fast winds swear by the surfing areas between the port city Wismar and the Bay of Mecklenburg , as well as the coasts of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst and Ummanz peninsulas, the latter of which is Germany’s largest body of shallow water. In Dranske on the Wieker Lagoon is an annual competition called the German Windsurf Cup . It attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of guests. Other recommended surfing spots on the German Baltic coast are Lindhöft in the Bay of Eckenförd, near the vacation spot Orther Reede and the Westside of Orth on Fehmarn, Niendorf, the Borthener Ufer (shore) and Pelzerhaken in the Bay of Lübeck, Salzhaff and Pepelow in the Bay of Wismar, the places next to the Warnow estuary at the marina Hohe Düne (high dune) in Warnemünde, on the Saal Lagoon in Fischland-Darß-Zingst, near Wiek and Suhrendorf on Rügen, and in Karlshagen and Ückeritz on Usedom.
Pike, herring, cod, and salmon instead of coral fish, and wreck diving that is like time travel
The large and versatile types of fish in the Baltic Sea make it a wonderful place to go for a fishing trip of any kind. The fish are plentiful throughout the year but the kinds vary by season, meaning you can come several times a year to catch a nice selection of species. Whether from the beach or boat, from the pier or a bridge, many freshwater and saltwater fish such as eel, garfish, flounder, pikeperch, common roach, bream, and others, populate the waters and bite according to the season. You can go fishing on the coasts of the many lagoons in the area as well as in the many bays in Schleswig-Holstein. According to the need of the fishers, equipped boats and fishing cutters can be rented almost anywhere along the Baltic Sea coast for surprisingly low prices. For the classic cod fishing in the parts of the sea around Rügen, the time between the end of April to the end of May and from September to December are the best in which to go. In these months, the inshore waters of Aneglei also promise good results in shallower waters, whether you are going reel fishing or vertical fishing with rubber fish or natural bait. From the beginning of June to the beginning of September, it is also a worth it to go on a little excursion to the very cool approximately 2000 shipwrecks further out at sea around the coasts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. As a bonus, there are also large numbers of cod, salmon and sea trout scurrying around underwater in these areas. The numerous wrecks from various past eras also of course draw in divers of all ages. In the area around the eastern coast of Rügen near Lohme and Sassnitz, the wrecks of the fishing cutter “Friedrich Engels”, the steel freighter “Amazone” and the Danish gaff schooner “Harald”. The wrecks lie between 8 and 30 meters under the surface. There is also a German fighter jet from World War II and the remains of an English bomber plane. In the diving area near Kühlungsborn you will also find, besides the natural scree fields, the remains of a military glider plane directly at the beach, as well as a steel flying machine about 15 meters underwater approximately 1.25 nautical miles from the beach. In addition, the Bay of Kiel has the wreck of the freight ship “Tjalk” and in the Kiel Fjord rests the old canon boat “Brage”, both of which are a popular goal for a more exciting and multi-faceted diving excursion.
Visit Germany, Poland, the Baltic countries, Russia and Scandinavia with YACHTICO

Yacht Charter in the Baltic Sea
The Baltic is the largest brackish-water sea in the world and a yacht charter in the Baltic sea is a very unique experience.
It is located between the Scandinavian peninsula and Europe`s north, north-east and mainland. It is bordered by Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Sweden.
There are many charter options to consider. You can charter a bareboat, with or without skipper, but more luxurious fully crewed vessels are also available.
The easiest pick-up locations can be arranged from Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. Destinations can include Helsinki (Finland), Stockholm (Sweden) and the Aland Islands (Finland), St Petersburg (Russia) and Tallinn (Estonia) and even Riga (Latvia). All are beautiful historical cities with lots of little islands, friendly locals and good food.
Some of the nicest places to explore are Finland’s Åland Islands. The Åland islands are situated between Sweden and Finland, in the northern part of the Baltic Sea. They constitute an autonomous and monolingual Swedish region of Finland with its own flag. Åland also has its own stamps and internet top-level domain (.ax). A total of 27,500 people live in Åland. About 11,000 of them live in Åland’s only town, Mariehamn.
The things that make Åland unique are its unspoiled archipelago and the beautiful bedrock, worn smooth by glacier ice, that gets its red color from the area’s rapakivi granite. Åland’s 6,500 islands have a very special world to offer visitors; where the sea is always nearby. Did you know that Åland has more sunshine hours than anywhere else in Northern Europe between May and August?
Another of Åland’s distinctive traits is the midsummer sight of maypoles, colorful garlands and old-world windmills. You can see some of them in the Jan Karlsgården open air museum in Kastelholm where you’ll also get to see what a typical Ålander farm looked like around the end of the 19th century.
We can make the charter and travel arrangements and give you the options. Call us at +1(877)759-8263 or use our handy contact form .
