29m Ferretti Yachts motor yacht Sunrise rejoins the market
The 28.5-metre Ferretti Yachts motor yacht Sunrise has rejoined the market with Pierre Badin of Denison . Delivered in 2021, the 920 model is in 'like new' condition, according to her broker, with just 342 engine hours.
The planing-hull yacht was built in GRP with a total volume of 102GT.
Zuccon International Project is responsible for the yacht's design, and the Italian studio has given her a calm, contemporary yet inviting interior with neutral tones in the guest accommodation and touches of colour in the main saloon and dining area, which also benefits from natural light. Accommodation is for 10 guests in five cabins including a main deck owner's cabin with walk-in wardrobes and en suite bathroom. Crew accommodation is for five crew members in three cabins.
Al fresco highlights include a cockpit arrangement, a sundeck with sunpads, bar and barbecue grill, plus a foredeck relaxing area on the bow.
Powered by twin MTU 2000 engines, Sunrise can reach a top speed of 25 knots and cruises comfortably between 16 and 20 knots.
Sunrise is now asking €6,150,000.

Ferretti Group profits surge in H1 2024
The first half of the year has brought record-breaking profits for the italian shipbuilder, but does a decline in orders signal a cooling in demand.
Ferretti Group has reported record-breaking profits for the first half of 2024, as the Italian shipyards achieved a net profit of €44 million, a 7.6 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Notably, the growth was primarily by the shipbuilder’s superyacht segment. However, a decline in new order intake could point to a softening in demand.
“One year after the success of the double listing on the Hong Kong and Milan stock exchanges, Ferretti Group confirms its growth,” says Alberto Galassi, CEO, Ferretti Group.
“Margins reached 15.8 per cent, the best result ever for the Group’s profitability, together with a net financial position of €237 million, improved by more than €30 million compared to last spring. The second quarter of 2024 also shows signs of long-term growth, including the consistent recovery in demand from the North American market.”
Ferretti’s adjusted EBITDA reached €96.7 million in the first half of 2024, marking a 15.9 per cent increase from the previous year. This led to the record EBITDA margin of 15.8 per cent, an increase of 110 basis points (1.1 per cent) from H1 2023.
The Group’s net revenue from new build yachts also rose by 7.7 per cent to €611.0 million, up from €567.4 million in H1 2023. Europe now accounts for 51.2 per cent of Ferretti’s total new build revenue and generated €313.0 million in sales– an increase of 17.9 per cent from the previous year. The Middle East and Africa (MEA) region also saw substantial growth, with revenues rising by 27.5 per cent to €112.8 million, comprising 18.5 per cent of the Group’s total revenue.
In the Americas, revenue grew by 3.5 per cent to €161.3 million, making up 26.4 per cent of total new yacht revenue. The North American market showed signs of a strong recovery in the second quarter, with demand increasing by over 28 per cent. In contrast, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region experienced a steep decline, with revenues plummeting by 58.4 per cent to just €23.9 million.
In terms of new orders, the superyachts segment saw the most dramatic growth, with orders surging by 84.2 per cent to €96.5 million. However, despite these revenue gains, Ferretti faced some challenges in maintaining its order intake in other areas, with orders for H1 2024 being €514.4 million, a 10.4 per cent decline compared to €573.8 million in H1 2023.
This decrease was particularly pronounced in the composite yachts segment, where orders fell by 38.5 per cent to €161.6 million. This segment, which accounted for 45.8 per cent of total order intake in H1 2023, now represents just 31.4 per cent, perhaps marking a shift in market demand. The ‘Made-to-Measure’ yachts segment, however, showed resilience, with orders increasing by 6.4 per cent to €256.3 million, accounting for 49.8 per cent of total order intake.
The shipyard’s entire order backlog as of 30 June 2024 stands at €1.5 billion, a 6.0 per cent increase from the previous year. This growth in backlog was also driven by the strong performance in the superyachts segment, which saw its entire backlog grow by 18.0 per cent to €521.9 million.
However, the net backlog (total orders not yet delivered minus revenues already booked) decreased by 5.2 per cent from March 2024 and 3.0 per cent year-on-year to €785.7 million, potentially signalling a cooling in demand. And while the financial results for H1 2024 are ultimately positive, several indicators point to potential headwinds that could challenge Ferretti moving forward.
The overall order intake decline of 10.4 per cent suggests a softening in demand, particularly in the composite yachts segment. Regional disparities in order intake are concerning too – Europe, Ferretti’s strongest market, saw a significant 39.1 per cent decline in new orders. The dramatic drop in the APAC region’s order intake (down 85.3 per cent) is also troubling, although both of these are contrasted sharply with the MEA region, however, which grew by 60.9 per cent, and the Americas, which increased by 28.1 per cent.
Ferretti is also facing rising costs in several areas, which could impact its margins. The amount the shipyard spent on raw materials and consumables increased by €17.2 million compared to H1 2023 – most likely attributable to inflationary pressures. External contractors’ costs also rose by €28.9 million.
Despite these challenges, Galassi maintains that Ferretti will continue to invest heavily in its future growth. The Group recently expanded its production capacity by acquiring additional land adjacent to its San Vitale shipyard, bringing the total production area in Ravenna to around 100,000 sqm. This expansion is expected to support increased production in the made-to-measure, composite and sail segments under the Ferretti Yachts and Wally brands.

“The NAVIX50 embodies our philosophy of creating vessels that excel in any environment,” Leapher CEO Yiannis Andriotis said in a statement. “From the Drake Passage to the coast of St. Tropez, this yacht redefines what’s possible in the sub-500GT category.”
The spacious interior includes six generous cabins, with the option for a seventh cabin or expanded skylounge. The guest cabin on the main deck can also be turned into a gym, wellness area, or an expanded owner’s suite. All guest cabins are equipped with king-size beds, while the owner’s suite is fitted with a plush super king-size bed. The yacht is also home to six crew cabins that can sleep up to 11.
The exterior decks are replete with alfresco dining areas, lounges, and sunbeds. The aft deck is arguably the standout, with two folding terraces, a large, 18-foot pool, a sprawling sunbathing area, a swim platform, and not one but two wet bars. At the opposite end, the foredeck doubles as a garage for two tenders.
“It [the NAVIX50] offers unparalleled versatility and luxury while maintaining an attractive value proposition for seasoned owners,” added Andriotis.
Leapher operates on a site formerly owned by cruise ship producer De Hoop that closed at the height of the pandemic. The yard is set to deliver the first NAVIX60 later this month. Christened Horizon, the 198-foot explorer will be on display at the Monaco Yacht Show from September 25 to 28.

Ferretti Yachts 500 Reviewed
- By Phil Draper
- Updated: April 28, 2021
When asked why he liked the desert so much, actor Peter O’Toole’s Lawrence of Arabia character answered, “Because it’s clean.”
I asked myself a similar question and generated much the same answer as to why I like the Ferretti Yachts 500.
The 50-footer’s profile has refined, balanced lines. The beauty is not so much about what’s there as it is about what’s not there.
Yes, all the appropriate features exist: There’s a raked-aft windshield; 136 square feet of flybridge with an aft-deck overhang, a single-seat helm station, a wet bar, booth seating, a table and sun pads; another sun pad on the superstructure forward; and 82 square feet of cockpit with a table and transom sofa. (That table converts to yet another sun pad, and there’s 67 square feet of swim platform.)
What’s missing is visual clutter. Elegance and timelessness are words bandied about too freely these days, but the Ferretti Yachts 500 has a design worthy of both.
The yacht is a creation of Ferretti Group’s strategic team, led by Piero Ferrari—who also just happens to be vice chairman of the automotive “prancing horse” legend that is Ferrari—and the group’s engineering department, with principal creative credits going to Milan, Italy-based Filippo Salvetti for exteriors and general arrangement, as well as La Spezia-based IdeaeItalia for interiors. The Ferretti Yachts 500 and the soon-to-splash Ferretti Yachts 1000 are IdeaeItalia’s first Ferretti projects.
The 500 has two interior-decor options. The version I was aboard had a bright Mediterranean vibe with light oak veneers—one a reconstituted surface with a fine, uniform grain and the other a coarse-grain gray. The other option is darker, warmer and more traditional with walnut.
Headroom varies from 6 feet, 5 inches to 6 feet, 7 inches across the aft deck, galley and salon. The cockpit and galley become like one space when the aft door is open and an adjacent half panel of glass is raised. There’s also a glass panel between the portside galley and part of the salon’s C-shaped sofa, a sensible protection from inevitable splashes. Another sofa is to starboard.
The bridge, also to starboard, is as comfortable as it is practical. A single bolster-cushioned helm seat addresses the console, which aboard this 500 had three Simrad displays: two optional 12-inch screens and one 9-inch monitor. The standard offering is one 9-inch display, plus the shifters/throttles and an optional joystick for docking. An opening window is adjacent to the lower helm.
Seas were lively off Italy’s coast when I got aboard, providing a great opportunity to see how this yacht performs when the going gets tougher. The backdrop shoreline was stunning. Porto Venere—along with neighboring villages Fezzano and Le Grazie; the three nearby islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto; and national parkland behind—has had a UNESCO World Heritage site designation for almost 25 years. The area is a worthy rival to the better known Amalfi Coast.
The Ferretti Yachts 500 was light on the helm and turned reasonably tightly. Twin 542 break-horsepower Cummins QSB 6.7 diesels reportedly deliver a top speed of 29 to 30 knots and a comfortable fast cruise around 24 to 25 knots. During runs on different headings and with the Humphree Interceptors set to autotrim mode, I registered just under and just over 30 knots—but only fleetingly. Most of the time, a speed of 27 knots plus a bit was all we could manage in the sloppy sea state.
A fast cruise around 24 knots sees the diesels spinning near 2,750 rpm, at which the total fuel burn is 45 gallons per hour. Allowing for a 10 percent reserve, there should be more than seven hours’ worth of run time, or about 170 nautical miles. Slow things to 1,500 rpm and just under 10 knots, and that same quantity of fuel delivers 325 nautical miles. The 500 I was aboard was a bit below half-load with six people, no tender, 50 percent fuel and virtually no water.
Like every Ferretti I’ve run over the years (and that’s quite a few), the 500 inspired total confidence. No creaking. No squeaking. These smaller Ferrettis are built at the brand’s Northern Italy hometown of Forli, which is around 45 miles to the southeast of Bologna and some 20 miles inland of the country’s east coast.
Belowdecks, the 500 packs in a lot thanks to V-boxes. The diesels are set far aft, virtually on top of the propellers. The standard layout has three staterooms and two showers; a two-stateroom version is available. The trade-off is the starboard-side twin bunk, mostly for more floor space in the forward VIP and much more in its en suite. Alternatively, that twin-bunk area can become a gym.
The 118-square-foot owner’s stateroom has a forward-facing queen berth, a 42-inch TV on the bulkhead, a two-seat sofa to port and windows with portholes. Despite the restricted height above the berth, there’s plenty of headroom where it’s needed: at the foot of the berth and to each side.
A crew cabin is an option with a single berth, head, sink, wet head and air conditioning. This cabin is a little squeezed between the engine room and transom; without the cabin, the space is a lazarette. Hatch access is under the aft-deck sofa’s seat cushion to port.
An optional hydraulic swim platform with 880-pound capacity can accommodate a Williams Turbojet 285 or 325 tender, depending on whether there’s an optional gangway.
The Ferretti Yachts 500′s unsullied lines, admirable performance, and upscale decor and layout should make the yacht a worthy successor to the retired 450 and 550 models that previously defined the entry point of the builder’s motoryacht portfolio. If upcoming models have the same look and feel, then Ferretti Yachts is on a solid heading.

We also operate a refitting facility in Fort Lauderdale, with the view to further expanding the offering of our after-sales and refitting services and strengthening our positioning in the U.S. market. In addition, in order to reinforce a stable supply of high-quality key inputs, we are currently in the process of internalizing a strategic portion of our GRP and carbon-fiber hull production. The comprehensive yachting ecosystem that we created, which encompasses luxury yachts and ancillary services, allows us to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty. Our ancillary businesses provide synergies with our core business with an all-encapsulating portfolio, comprising: (i) yacht brokerage, chartering and management services; (ii) after-sales and refitting services; (iii) brand extension activities, such as the merchandizing line of lifestyle collections; and (iv) manufacturing and installation of wooden furnishings for nautical interiors. In certain instances, we also offer trade-in opportunities to our customers as a complementary service and a lever to facilitate the sales of new yachts. In addition, we tapped into the global coastal patrol and rescue vessel industry with the launch of FSD (Ferretti Security Division), our security vessel business division. By leveraging our accumulated know-how and resources and by exploiting already existing product platforms, we are well positioned to seize the growing opportunities in this flourishing market.
Clear Route to growth
Moving forward, we intend to meet the evolving demands in the luxury yacht industry, especially towards larger and more profitable yachts, by adjusting our product mix to strengthen our market positioning while preserving the exclusivity of our brands with a relentless focus on quality and innovation. We aim to continue to further consolidate our leading position in EMEA, extend our presence in AMAS and fully unleash our potential in APAC, along with the Listing, strengthening our leadership in the global luxury yacht industry.
