Classic Hoek 82, SWEET EMOTION is the product of Dutch design and build at its very best. She has beautiful joinery throughout and is full of clever and subtle details that are a hallmark of her designer and builders. She has a powerful hull shape and eats miles and she offers comfortable and easy sailing. Her deck saloon is tremendous for either cold or warm waters and there are steps down to a cathedral like lower saloon. Both guests and owners have wonderful accommodation aboard a yacht that will always turn heads.

SWEET EMOTION is offered after a significant refit completed from 2023. Works carried out include but are not limited to –

• New teak deck of 15mm.
• Aluminium subdeck totally prepared and refaired and primed before the new deck was applied.
• Full repaint of the topsides in flag blue Awlgrip.
• Full repaint of the superstructure in white Awlgrip.
• Rondal hatches all refurbished with new lenses fitted where needed and handles serviced
• Deck saloon upholstery.
• New carpets.
• The interior was re-varnished as needed.
• The rig was pulled, with all rigging and fittings removed and inspected. Rods and terminals were inspected, polished and refitted. A survey is available on request.
• Full repaint of mast and boom to the original specification.
• All blocks and other sailing gear was inspected and serviced.
• All deck hardware and hinges were serviced and polished before refitting.
• The main engine was fully serviced.
• New bimini.

Owner’s Comments

Since the early 70s, I had a dream to one day buy a sailing yacht big enough to sail any place in the world. After I sold my company, a friend and I surveyed what was available in the Mediterranean and we short-listed SWEET EMOTION. When I first saw her, I knew she would be mine, her beauty brought tears to my eyes.

In my ownership, SWEET EMOTION has sailed most of Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and Atlantic. She has done numerous Trans-Atlantics too, as I have enjoyed spending January to March in the Caribbean and the Bahamas on her and then the summer in Europe. I have also sailed the East Coast of America up to Nova Scotia – it was magical to sail into New York Yacht Club on the 4th of July!

SWEET EMOTION has had significant refit periods in my ownership in 2011 and 2016. Over the last winter of 2022/23 she had another significant refit including lovely new 15mm teak decks, new paint for hull, superstructure and rig which has been totally refurbished. This is in addition to a long list of other improvements and so she sparkles, as she should.

SWEET EMOTION is unique and without a doubt a head turner. When under sail she glides through the water and it is incredibly tranquil. Her sailing performance exceeds what one would suspect from her looks. She is definitely no motor sailor. In my ownership, she has made all her passages under sail and has proven herself – delivering fast and reliable passage times. My captain, who has been aboard SWEET EMOTION for 13 years, is still in awe of her performance under sail in all weathers. She sails upwind in the lightest of airs and will also ride out heavy weather in safety and comfort. Further, she is a very comfortable yacht and it has been easy to spend months on her at a time.

It is with great sadness I have decided to sell her, but as I get older, I have found my mobility means that I find getting on and off her whilst at anchor increasingly difficult due to my arthritis.

One of the most stunning designs of Hoek Design Naval Architects. Copihue is a result of the combination of hundreds of thousands of miles of ocean-going experience, together with the expertise of Andre Hoek’s design office in Edam. When Andre was approached by the owner, it was to design an easily handled, attractive family sailing yacht with a circumnavigation in mind. Aluminium was chosen as the hull material and a traditional aluminium, not carbon, mast was chosen for strength and durability. The traditional lines and long overhangs belie a modern underwater section, with a deep fin keel and spade rudder under water to enhance performance and manoeuvrability. Her modern, skeg hung rudder is immediately aft of a fully variable pitch four bladed propeller. Her decks are clean and sweeping, with a low and well placed aft deckhouse, emphasising her classic appearance. Ample use of teak adds to the classic atmosphere of the yacht inside and out.

Hoek Design Naval Architects

Founded by Dutch naval architect Andre Hoek in 1986, superyacht designers Hoek Design have become one of the best known superyacht design and naval architecture practices. After graduating with a degree in naval architecture in 1980 Hoek spent a year working in the design office of C&C Yachts in Canada. He then spent six years as a salvage and heavy lift engineer for specialist company ITC before setting up Hoek Design. A passionate sailor, he has raced everything from Dutch traditional vessels to superyachts  Adele , Marie , Eleonora and Lionheart .

Hoek Design was joined by aeronautics and hydrodynamics specialist Ruurt Meulemans in 1999, and in 2011 he became managing partner and is currently head of the design office. The current team encompass a broad range of skills from naval architecture to interior design, marine engineering and graphic design.

Famous for their sailing yachts that combine modern underwater profiles with classic lines, Hoek Design superyachts include Jan-Eric Österlund’s 54.64 metre ketch Adele for which Hoek also design the interior, the 62 metre schooner Athos , the J Class Lionheart , and the modern F Class Firefly .

Specialisations

The Hoek design team cover everything from naval architecture to interiors with a large in-house yacht interior design team. In addition to custom superyachts, Hoek Design has developed several semi-custom ranges from 33-feet in size such as the Classic, Truly Classic and Semi Classic yachts. Hoek Design motor yachts include an 18 metre and a 28 metre classic launch style concepts and Hoek’s first launch, the 21.4 metre high-speed launch  Seven .

The PC 55 &  PC 66  yachts are the elegant result based on aesthetic and product perfection.

Hoek design adhered to the design brief which entailed:

– To create a fast yacht with a layout suitable for warmer climates

– Easily handled by a couple if desired

– Offering a light,elegant and comfortable accommodation.

– A very spacious cockpit for a yacht of their sizes, providing comfortable dining space, while the aft section contains a large diameter wheel and electric winches which allow the sails to be trimmed without having to leave the helm.

– A gorgeous sunbathing area is created for safe and comfortable relaxing aft of the helm station.

The PC 66 & PC 55 will be built to standard specifications, including carbon construction, carbon mast, boom, rudder, bow thruster, generator, under deck lines and electric winches, etc. Various options are being offered in order to suit your personal preferences.
