Luxurious and powerful, the Mobilvetta Euroyacht A-class motorhomes built between 1996 and 2002 should be on your ‘must-see’ list if you’re thinking of buying a deluxe motorhome.

As we do regularly at Practical Motorhome, online and in the magazine , here we are focusing on a great used mainstream motorhome, giving you expert advice so you are able to buy with confidence. We tell you which is the best of the bunch, what to pay and any problems to look out for.

This time, we are looking at the Iveco-based Mobilvetta Euroyacht. If you are looking for the best luxury used motorhomes for sale, make sure you take a look at some pre-owned Euroyachts. 

Mobilvetta Design began making high-end furniture in 1961 – in 1976 it built its first motorhome. Around 20 years later, the company launched the Euroyacht, which – when coupled with the bombproof twin-rear-wheel-drive Iveco chassis-cowl – resulted in one of the best A-class motorhomes ever built. 

These Italian lovelies really were in a class of their own, featuring 
quality cabinetwork with traditional joinery and radius hardwoods. The high standards of equipment levels and practical, new-to-Britain layouts led to them sailing out of the showroom with ease.

The Iveco-based range kicked off with the 6.8m 170 LX and 175 LX models. The 170 has a forward lounge and a midships kitchen ahead of a rear washroom. The 175, meanwhile, has double and single Pullman dinettes and bunk beds – bringing the sleeping-berth count to seven!

Next up was the 7.45m 180 LX, with a similar lounge to the 170. However, the extra length allows a fixed, European-style corner bed ahead of the full-width rear washroom.

The Mobilvetta Design Euroyacht A-class coachbuilt was built in Barberino Val D’Elsa, Tuscany, Italy between 1996 and 2002. The Euroyacht’s overall length is a modest 6.85m to 7.45m (22ft 6in to 24ft 6in).

So, what should you look out for when looking round a used Mobilvetta Euroyacht at a motorhome dealership? Here are Practical Motorhome’s expert tips to help you buy better. Let’s start with the base vehicle. The 2.5- and 2.8-litre mechanical injection TD units are under-stressed and should – given regular maintenance – last 250,000 miles. On early five-speeders, the first gear was so short that many drivers didn’t bother to use it: so do check that it can still be selected easily.

Some back-axle noise is acceptable, but avoid motorhomes with incontinent gearboxes and rear-axles. Almost all examples of the Mobilvetta Euroyacht are left-hand drive vehicles, which might be an advantage if you spend a lot of time on tour abroad in your motorhome. 

The skirts of the Euroyacht can discolour over time, and the gel coat on the moulded GRP front end cap goes flat! Bargain hard if this is the case, but be prepared to put a lot of effort in if you decide that you want to restore it to its former glory.

The foam in the habitation seat squabs was soft even when new, so this is likely to need replacing for maximum seat comfort. 

So, what do we think of these ‘vans? Here are our likes:

• Eye-candy good looks
• Revolutionary (in their day) layouts
• Twin-rear-wheel drive
• Easy chassis upgrade

And our dislikes: 

• Three-piece windscreen has blind spots
• Challenging access to the in-line engine

What’s our pick of the range? Well, unless you have a large family, go for the Movilvetta Euroyacht 180 LX. We think this is the motorhome that offers the most sensuous luxury. 

But what to pay? Mint examples are available from close to £18,000. Those that have been lived-in and need an interior overhaul are sometimes available on eBay from £10,000 (on European plates).

What alternatives are there? You could also try the  Laika Ecovip 200i and 400i Iveco-based A-class models, or the Mobilvetta Icaro. These have the same layouts and are also based on Iveco vans, but have been built as overcab coachbuilt motorhomes. Consider all three if you see them come up at a good price on the secondhand market.

Just spotted a Euroyacht 175 LX for sale on Autoscout 24, and it could be just the van to replace the Pilote.

It's 1998 on an Iveco chassis, but there is no indication of the gross weight. Could one of you guys take a look through your back copies etc to see if you can work out whether or not it might be under 3.5 tonnes. I've tried to look it up on the internet, but I'm hopeless at it, and I need to know before I start chasing around France , talking to foreigners etc.

There was a 3.5 GVW of the daily back then but Looking up a 98 MMM buyers guide No GVW listed only payload. Euroyacht came in three sizes

140- 487kg payload probably on the 3500 kg GVW chassis.

170- 1130kg PL probably on the 4000kg GVW

180- 1100kg PL probably on the 4000kg GVW.

Allowing for the usual makers optimism on ULW I doubt the 140 has much payload and the bigger ones are too big.

The Euroyacht was built on two different base vehicles . the 140 gvw 3500kg on a FWD Ducato

The 170 175 180 on the RWD Iveco daily chassis with gvw 4000kg.

The rear wheels are the giveaway.

The Ducato has a single wheel at the back. Dished outwards like the front

The Iveco rear axle has twin wheels bolted back to back and the outer has a deep inward dish that can be seen in photographs.

It seems likely that all Euroyacht 170/175 motorhomes left the Mobilvetta factory with a maximum overall weight of 3500kg, and as the motorhome you mention is being sold in France

it’s a racing certainty that this vehicle will not have been uprated beyond 3500kg.

These motorhomes are based on a hefty Iveco twinned-rear-wheel ‘truck’ chassis with little regard to constructional weight-saving and I’d be extremely wary of potential payload issues at the 3500kg limit.

I own exactly that model on an Iveco chassis 2.8TD & it is plated @ 3500 GVW ;-) Must add to that it is an excellent vehicle. Brilliant layout, very comfortable in all aspects.

It’s perhaps worth mentioning that when your 3500kg GVW Euroyacht was MOT-tested its weight was measured at 3486kg, leaving just 14kg of extra ‘payload’ available.

It’s unlikely that the weight of the Euroyacht in the French advert will differ significantly from your vehicle’s, which means that AGD would need to be ultra careful about loading it or ignore the probability that it’s going to exceed the 3500kg maximum in normal use.

Although SVTech advised you that your motorhome’s 3500kg weight-limit could be uprated to 3850kg, the chances of this approach being authorised in France are minimal as the French rules regarding uprating are far stricter than the UK’s. So, even if AGD has an ‘over 3500kg’ driving-licence entitlement, taking a French-registered 3500kg Euroyacht beyond that weight limit will almost certainly be a non-starter.

That’s what was said...

I have a 1996 copy of “Which Motorcaravan” magazine and the Mobilvetta entry in the buyer’s gude listing indicated that Euroyacht 170 and 190 models were then being marketed in the UK (in LHD) by Don Amott. The base vehicle was said to be an Iveco 40.12 and the payload was quoted as 1130kg for the 170 and 1100kg for the 190. However, what firm evidence there is points to Iveco-based Euroyachts marketed in the late-90s being plated at 3500kg, which - given the vehicle’s specification - would make a large usable payload very doubtful.

It’s probable that the Euroyacht 175 in the AutoScout24 advert is plated at 3500kg and - if that’s so - there’s every reason to think it will have been operated at that weight since 1998. French motorcaravanners (being generally restricted to driving up-to-3500kg camping-cars and liking the idea of big ones) don’t appear to be too fussed about driving overweight motorhomes, whereas UK motorcaravanners seem more concerned about doing this.

It should be straightforward enough for AGD to confirm the advertised Euroyacht’s maximum gross weight, but less easy to establish the payload reliably without actually weighing the vehicle. As he has had so much bureaucratic pain over registering his RHD Pilote in France, it would be sensible that he be aware at this stage of possible payload limitations with the Euroyacht and that the UK procedure of gaining extra payload by chassis ‘uprating’ is unlikely to be practicable in France.

I would like to thank everyone for such a fantastic response, I do like the look of the Euroyacht, but the weight problem bothers me, I only have the 3.5 tonne licence now, so I think I will wait until after I have returned the Pilote to the UK and sorted that out. What an incredible bunch you really are, many thanks.

Hi,All, Spotted for sale a IVECO-DAILY Euro yacht motorhome , running on a 2.8 diesel engine. Has anyone any experience of this vehicle, I think it is made by an Italian firm because it is by Mobilvette or something like that. Does anyone know what chassis it is? (the vehicle is a 1997 model) Just wondered because we are looking to upgrade our van soon. Kind regards, Dave.......

I think these were imported by Don Amott at Hilton in Derbyshire. I recall looking at them as they were very stylish and at the higher end of the A-class market. They were well beyond my means. Mobilvetta is a recognised Italian company who made good vans with style. It is/was part of the SEA group which has had a more turbulent history recently - Auto Sleepers was part of the group for a while. Ensure you can get parts for the Mobilvetta part of the vehicle. Most of their dealers seem to be in the south. The Iveco Daily is a workhorse with a very good reputation in the commercial vehicle sector. Check the weight of the van because if it is at the top end of the scale, the old 2.8 will be challenged to make good progress compared to modern motores. Like now, many of the top class under 6,000 kg motorhomes used the chassis. There are numerous Iveco dealers around.

Hi we have a euroyacht 1998 LHD the quality is brilliant, the Italian furniture makers did a fab job on design, the bathrooms are large, the kitchen is tucked away so easy to cook, and the kitchen sink and drainer are large, pleanty of room, well thought out motorhome. The pull down bed just tucks up after use, so no bedding to have to keep putting away. Ours is a semi automatic, we have just returned from an Easter break to Spain, its performance is excellent. We will be looking to buy a fully automatic motorhome soon, so give us a call if you want we can send you some pics?

They are a very common sight around mainland Europe. Not owned one, but I had a look round one at a used-MH dealers not long ago. Looked very well built and solidly put together. My understanding of Iveco base is that it's very solid, more or less bulletproof running gear.

Ursprünglich ist es ein 7-Personen-Wohnmobil, aber dann kann man kaum etwas mitnehmen. Ideal sind 2 bis MAX 5 Personen. Mehr Personen sind nicht erlaubt! Es gibt Sicherheitsgurte für 5 Personen. Nicht für 5 Erwachsene geeignet, daher...

Ursprünglich ist es ein 7-Personen-Wohnmobil, aber dann kann man kaum etwas mitnehmen. Ideal sind 2 bis MAX 5 Personen. Mehr Personen sind nicht erlaubt! Es gibt Sicherheitsgurte für 5 Personen. Nicht für 5 Erwachsene geeignet, daher nach Absprache eine Familie mit Kindern unter 18 Jahren.

Es scheint groß zu sein, aber vor der Vermietung werde ich es immer Probefahren, um Ihnen Anweisungen und Tipps zu geben. Die Mieter sagen alle, dass das Schalten und Fahren etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig sei und man sich nach ein paar Stunden daran gewöhne. Dank des leistungsstarken Motors hat er weder in den Bergen noch auf Hügeln Probleme.

Der Camper eignet sich auch gut zum kostenlosen Parken/Camping (nicht im Winter) ohne Ausstattung. Das liegt an seinen großen Wassertanks (sauber und schmutzig!) und seinen 3 Solarpaneelen. Die letzten Mieter hatten es 2 Wochen bei sich und besuchten einmal einen Campingplatz/Wohnmobilstellplatz.

Es verfügt über eine Dusche, eine Toilette (mit festem Abwassertank), einen (Gas-)Ofen, einen (Gas-/Strom-)Kühlschrank, einen 4-Flammen-Gasherd und eine Heizung.

Es gibt 2 Doppelbetten, 1 davon ist ein Hubbett (190 x 130 cm) über dem Fahrer- und Beifahrersitz und ist daher immer bezogen und 1 ist ein Doppelbett (180 x 90/120 cm), ein Einzelbett Bett (180x65 cm). ) und 2 lange Einzelbetten (200 x 60 cm). Bei der Nutzung eines Etagenbettes, also oben und unten, bleibt ein kleiner Stauraum übrig, weshalb der untere Teil fast nie genutzt wird und so ein geräumiger Stauraum entsteht.

Kurz gesagt: Nach dem Einladen Ihrer eigenen Sachen ist es bereit, loszufahren und in den Urlaub durch Europa zu fahren.

Präferenz: nicht nach Italien/Kroatien!

Priorización de Requisitos Software con MoSCoW

Tras el artículo anterior acerca de la importancia de la  educción de requisitos software , hoy vamos a tratar la priorización de los requisitos software con una técnica denominada MoSCoW . Actualmente, nos encontramos en un contexto en el que el “time to market” y aportar valor a negocio son dos puntos muy importantes a la hora de desarrollar un producto software. Es por ello, que priorizar aquellas funcionalidades que aportan mayor valor al producto, es una actividad necesaria que debe de realizarse y visibilizarse a todo el equipo.

Estrategias de priorización

Cuando se comienza a desarrollar el software, es muy importante abordar el orden de implementación de los requisitos siguiendo una estrategia. Existen distintas estrategias, como por ejemplo guiarse por el riesgo que se asume en cada requisito,  guiarse por el valor que aporta al negocio o simplemente impuestas por dependencias de otros sistemas o por los recursos disponibles.

Además de estas estrategias, la priorización es importante cuando el proyecto se desvíe de la estimación inicial, para poder sacar fuera de alcance aquellos requisitos de mas baja prioridad y que no son clave para el éxito del producto software, postponiendolos para fases posteriores.

Esta priorización debe de realizarse tanto si el producto ya está construido y estamos evolucionándolo, como si es un sistema nuevo y decidimos construir un Producto Mínimo Viable (MVP). En este último caso, es muy importante la priorización, ya que el objetivo es construir un nuevo producto software en el menor tiempo posible y con las funcionalidades necesarias para poder ser viable. En caso de no acertar con el modelo de negocio, siempre es más fácil reorientar la estrategia sin haber perdido el tiempo en funcionalidades que no aportaban lo suficiente. ¡Falla rápido, falla barato!

Técnica de Priorización de Requisitos MoSCoW

Comúnmente, se emplean valores numéricos para priorizar los requisitos, siendo 1 la prioridad mas baja y 5 la mas alta. Sin embargo estos valores no tienen un significado real ni semántico para los involucrados. La técnica de priorización de requisitos MoSCoW,  ayuda a todo el equipo  a entender las necesidades reales del sistema software y entender la criticidad de cada funcionalidad.

MoSCoW es un acrónimo, cuyas siglas en inglés significan: Must have, Should have, Could have, and Would like but won’t get. Como se puede observar, esta clasificación no se trata simplemente de poner un valor numérico a cada uno de los requisitos/historias de usuario, si no que aporta un valor semántico de lo que realmente es importante.

Comunmente cuando se definen los requisitos y se analizan, se suele pretender que todo es de prioridad alta. Si todos los requisitos son prioritarios, en realidad nada es prioritario. Por ello esta técnica propone que en este análisis se dividan los requisitos en cada uno de estos 4 grupos representándolos con una letra:

• M – MUST:  Se tratan de requisitos totalmente  imprescindibles  que tienen que estar incluidos ya que si no se llevan a cabo el proyecto no puede salir adelante.
• S – SHOULD: Se tratan de requisitos que deberían de llevarse a cabo si es posible, es decir, son requisitos  importantes  y de gran valor para el producto que se está construyendo.  Estos requisitos no se tratarían de stoppers para poner el proyecto en marcha si no se llegan a tener a tiempo. También conocidos como requisitos “Nice to Have”.
• C – COULD: Se tratan de requisitos que podrían incluirse si no afecta a nada más, es decir, son requisitos que sería  bueno  tener y podrían incluirse porque no cuesta demasiado implementarlas. Estos requisitos podrían quedarse en el backlog para que en una una fase posterior se implementen.
• W – WON’T:  Se tratan de requisitos que no se implementarán en la fase que se está planteando, pero lo pueden estará en un futuro. Estos requisitos son   excluidos  del alcance, pero no por ello no son importantes, simplemente que no aplican en la fase que te encuentras.

Priorizar es una actividad complicada, pero no por ello debe descuidarse. Para responder que requisitos priorizamos se debe de intentar medir el valor que aporta al producto, el coste real de implementación asociado,  los recursos disponibles para llevarlo a cabo, la complejidad del problema y el riesgo que estamos dispuestos a asumir.

Técnicas como MoSCoW ayudan a todos los involucrados en el proyecto a definir la importancia y las razones por lo que el requisito a implementar es importante. De esta manera todos los miembros del equipo se sienten alineados con los objetivos a conseguir.

Análisis de requerimientos en gestión de proyectos.

Establecer las prioridades para alcanzar el éxito en un nuevo proyecto no siempre es fácil, requiere un orden claro en el desarrollo de las funcionalidades que lo componen, conocer el impacto de cada uno o saber ponderar la importancia de cada uno de ellos en relación a los otros.

Daig Clegg en 1994 ideó el método MoSCoW como técnica para priorizar requerimientos, se aplica en diversos ámbitos como pueden ser análisis de un negocio, la gestión de proyectos o el desarrollo de un nuevo software.

El termino MoSCoW es un acrónimo formado por las primeras letras de cada tipo de prioridad, se resume en las siguientes cuatro categorías: MUST have (debe tener); SHOULD have (debería tener); COULD have (podría tener); WON’T have (no tendrá).

En contraste con la forma típica de priorizar (alta, media, baja) donde al final da igual el nivel y todo se debe hacer (además esta forma de priorizar no ofrece una promesa clara sobre que esperar del producto final), con el método MoSCoW a medida que analizamos los requisitos nos damos cuenta que no todo es obligatorio ni hay que hacerlo en este momento, la escala que usamos tiene un significado intrínseco frente a otras técnicas tradicionales, las elecciones realizadas tendrán un impacto real sobre el producto final.

Categorías “Must, Should, Could, Won’t”

• MUST have (debe tener) : Se pueden considerar como atributos que determinan el MVP ( minimum viable product ), son requerimientos indispensables o mínimos y normálmente no son negociables, sino se logra el conjunto de requerimientos de este tipo se considera que el proyecto no ha tenido éxito.
• SHOULD have (debería tener) : Este tipo de requisitos suelen ser altamente deseables pero no cruciales. Puede tratarse de funcionalidades que no son tan urgentes en este momento (pero puede que lo sean en un periodo corto de tiempo). Este tipo de atributos se centran en obtener un mayor retorno de la inversión ROI , se pueden evaluar midiendo la cantidad de usuarios afectados por este requisito. El producto final aún sigue siendo plenamente funcional sin estos requerimientos.
• COULD have (podría tendría) : También se les conoce como nice-to-have . A pesar de que pueden ser interesantes no suelen ser importantes, no llevarlos a cabo no reduce la viabilidad del proyecto , no tienen gran impacto en el resultado final. Pueden ser funcionalidades extra que se acometan siempre y cuando quede tiempo y dinero una vez realizadas las anteriores o no exijan excesivo esfuerzo.
• Won’t have/ Would-have (no tendría) : Requisitos o deseos que no merecen aún la pena invertir en ellos . También se conocen como would have porque una empresa podría implementarlos bajo ciertas condiciones en el futuro.

Conclusiones, pros y contras del modelo MoSCoW

Está técnica se implementa de forma rápida y es sencilla de aplicar . Si se realiza en equipo todas las personas integrantes forman parte de la decisión de la prioridad de cada trabajo a realizar y cual debe ser el resultado final del conjunto.

Permite redirigir los recursos (materiales, de personas o tiempo) de los que disponemos a las categorías más importantes, si en algún momento te quedas sin recursos para seguir trabajando, te aseguras que lo más importante siempre está hecho .

Los deseos y requisitos nunca son estáticos, dependen de la situación y el momento, pueden cambiar de categoría a través del tiempo .

Este método se suele aplicar cuando existen plazos límite de entrega y debemos poner el foco en los requisitos más importantes .

Esta técnica está muy dirigida a aspectos funcionales o atributos que proporcionan un valor añadido sobre un producto final , puede casar muy bien para definir MVP de un nuevo proyecto.
