If you're a fan of Below Deck or its counterpart, Below Deck Mediterranean , you know that the clear ocean water, the cliff sights, and the on-demand food from an expert chef are enviable luxuries. 

What's not a luxury? Having crew members scrutinize everything about the guests' antics, idiosyncrasies, and preference sheets on national television. We're breaking down exactly what a Below Deck charter costs, and what the show offers guests as an incentive to air their lives on TV.

How much does a Below Deck charter cost?

When you charter a boat from Below Deck , you can expect one that is 150 to 160 feet in length that features multiple decks and luxury guest quarters. 

The service staff does turn-down service, unpacks suitcases, and waits on guests for any food or drink requests that they may have. The deck crew sets up any water toys — from slides to jet skis to rides to shore on the tender. Guests can request off-boat excursions as well, that the crew plans and executes.

The yacht featured on the shows are usually worth around $15 to $20 million, with Below Deck Mediterranean 's Sirocco ringing in at over a whopping $18.5 million. According to a yacht site , My Seanna, which was featured on Below Deck Mediterranean 's sixth season, had the most expensive weekly rental cost starting at $300,000. The boat was also the longest one in the show's history at nearly 180 feet. Many of the boats featured on the show are given new names by production.

If you're interested in chartering one of these mega yachts, expect to have at least $140,000 on hand for the weeklong venture. Ohana from Below Deck Season 2 — which is actually named Rhino — is the least expensive yacht on the list and can hold up to 10 guests. 

The smaller size of the boat may have contributed to the lower price, but it has been renovated since the show aired. It's important to remember that these costs do not include the tip, which tends to be anywhere from $15,000 (if service was awful) to $30,000. 

The guests get a huge deal on the charter cost.

With the huge cost of chartering a Below Deck boat, it's fair to assume that guests would be getting a significant deal in order to allow cameras to film what is supposed to be a vacation. 

Producer and creator Mark Cronin confirmed that guests get a 50 percent discount on the three-day charters, and their airfare is covered by production. The guests are responsible for paying the tips, however, which are supposed to be 15 to 20 percent of the total real cost of the charter. 

The staff of the boat also makes money from production for being on the show. It's some consolation if the tip doesn't quite measure up.

If you watch the show, then you know that these coveted tips often cause a significant amount of the show's drama. Most guests on the show give a speech before leaving the boat about the successes and failures of the staff before handing the tip in. Mark also said that every charter is included on the season, even if the guests are boring. So there's no hope that being tame will get you a discounted charter and no air time.

The moral of the story is that if you ever want the chance to have chief stew Hannah bring you an omelet in the morning, it's going to cost you quite the pretty penny. Below Deck Mediterranean airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

Here’s a more detailed look at the yachts featured on the original Below Deck:

Honor – Season 1

Honor (which is now LUMIERE) kicked off the first season, and she put on a dazzling display. The yacht, originally built by Benetti in 1999, is one of the largest yachts ever featured on the show, and it was actually booked for a five-week charter for filming.

HONOR benefited from the new-found fame of the show. She sold after it aired for nearly $15 million, and the new owners completely refit her interiors and renamed the boat. Today, LUMIERE is a masterpiece of nautical engineering.

She features luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests and an abundance of deck space, including a sprawling sun deck. The yacht also features a wide array of water toys (the slide was a struggle for the crew all season!).

Ohana – Season 2

Season 2 took the crew on a tour of the British Virgin Islands and featured some familiar faces. Captain Lee, Chef Ben, and Bosun Eddie were back, much to the pleasure of fans. Yet, the yacht was completely different.

OHANA (real name is RHINO) was featured on the second season, a stunning 154-footer, with beautiful decks, a horseshoe outdoor bar, and a stunning outdoor sun deck. After the show aired in 2014, Ohana underwent an extensive retrofit.

She now features an updated interior with a decidedly modern, airy vibe, as well as new hardware, including a state-of-the-art stabilization system.

Eros – Season 3

EROS took centerstage in Season 3, and the 161-foot yacht, originally built for the founder of Tim Hortons, was one of the most luxurious featured on the show. The beautiful tri-deck, featured a stately saloon, a sky lounge Jacuzzi, and sleek exterior styling.

EROS – which was sold prior to the third season – has since been renamed and was also remodeled. She’s now known as Mustang Sally, and unfortunately, this is one of the few Below Deck charter yachts that’s not available for charter.

Valor – Seasons 4 & 5

The stately VALOR was a fan favorite in Season 4 and 5. Built in 1990 by Dutch-based Feadship, the 154-foot VALOR featured a sprawling aft deck, perfect for sunset dinners and afternoon lounges. Plus, the ship – when featured on the show – had a range of water toys, including dual jet skis and a sleek, boutique hotel-inspired interior.

Like Mustang Sally, VALOR – which is now known as simply BG – isn’t available for charter. Yet, fans will always remember all the drama that took place on board.

Below Deck Mediterranean Yachts

Below Deck Mediterranean premiered in 2016, and through three seasons, the show has featured some of the Med’s best yachts. All of the yachts from the Mediterranean spin-off are available for charter, exactly how you see them on the show.

Ionian Princess – Season 1

Season 1 of Below Deck Mediterranean launched with a bang, featuring one of the strongest premieres for the franchise. Although there was plenty of drama throughout the season as the crew traveled around Greece, the beauty of IONIAN PRINCESS couldn’t be missed. The ship, which was originally built in the U.S. in 2005, featured a sleek, streamlined tri-deck design and gorgeous interiors.

The sun deck – where guests partied all season long – is one of the yacht’s star attractions, featuring a Jacuzzi with world-class views. Her interior, though, is one of the most stunning, featuring a chic design. The yacht also includes six cabins with accommodations for up to 12 guests.

Sirocco – Season 2

Season 2 took the crew to Croatia, aboard SIROCCO. The Dutch-built yacht originally launched in 2006, and thanks to its unique two-tone, third-deck exterior, she was remembered for her striking exterior. All of the yacht’s features made great TV. From her incredible sun deck, to the African chic interior, and all of the many water toys, SIROCCO’s impressive design and amenities stood out.

Today, she’s available for charter throughout the Mediterranean. A few unique features include a sun deck gym, an alfresco party deck, a theatre, and a wide array of water toys.

Talisman Maiton – Season 3

Named for an island in Thailand, TAILSMAN MAITON is a stunning tri-deck that cruises the pristine waters of Italy and all of the Mediterranean. The largest to ever be featured on the show, TAILSMAN is truly incredible.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests, in 6 beautifully appointed rooms. There’s a master suite, as well as 1 VIP stateroom, and four smaller cabins. The yacht was built in 2006, but most recently refit in 2016 with a timeless Art Deco aesthetic. The yacht also features a sundeck spa pool with a beautiful bar, a full-service gym, and an observation deck with panoramic views.

How Long Are the Below Deck Charters?

Here’s a little-known secret about Below Deck: The “charter season” on the show is just a few weeks. In fact, the yachts are actually booked for about six weeks, and their regular crews are sent home. In other words, the charters on Below Deck are actually a charter within a charter!

Here's What It Costs To Charter The Below Deck Season 9 Yacht

Spoiler: it's a lot.

The Below Deck cast is climbing back aboard the My Seanna for Season 9, and yes, it's still just as expensive to charter the ship. The luxurious vessel boasts six cabins for 12 guests as well as numerous amenities including a helipad, on-deck hot tub, movie theater, gym, and beach club, according to the yacht booking company Yacht Charter Fleet. Guests can also explore the ocean with the included wave runners, wakeboard, water trampoline, or snorkeling equipment.

All of that fun will cost you. Yacht Charter Fleet reports that during the summer, chartering My Seanna can run anywhere from $338,000 to $395,000 per week. Winter rates are a bit lower, running between $294,000 and $392,000. The ship sails the Caribbean making stops in the Bahamas in the summer as well as Saint Martin, St. Barts, Antigua, and the Virgin Islands in the winter.

The ship was originally built in 2000 but was renovated in 2014 to add 25 extra feet to the decks, per MegaYacht News. That's the version fans saw in Below Deck Seasons 6 and 8 and will see again in Season 9. It's being captained by both Lee Rosbach and Sean Meagher, who briefly took over for Lee while he was dealing with an undisclosed health issue at the beginning of the season. Meagher, an active broker for Worth Avenue Yachts , was also the listing agent for My Seanna. According to My Boat International, it sold in July 2021 and was listed at $21.9 million.

In 2019, the yacht was being chartered with a 35% discount. That rate is no longer available, but those willing to go on Below Deck may be able to spend a little less. When Below Deck: Mediterranean Season 2 was in production, a casting announcement said that the show was booking groups of guests for a significant charter discount. Instead of paying upwards of $100,000, the trip cost $55,000 for five people, working out to $11,000 each. That only included three days on the yacht, but guests also got to stay in a five-star hotel in Croatia for two days and all their airfare was covered.

When you charter a vessel from the list of ‘Below Deck’ superyachts, you can expect 150+ feet of deluxe comfort, including a personalized itinerary, suitcase management, water activities, and turn-down services, amongst much more. Season 3’s Eros (known as STAY SALTY) is unavailable for private yacht charters right now, but seasons 4, 5, and 7’s Valor (or BG) is available for the price of $158,000. Coming to the luxury we have all come to know and love as My Seanna, the 185-feet Starship is the most expensive here at $260,000/week.

As for the sails of ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ and ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht,’ while Parsifall III from the latter costs between $240,000 to $280,000 a week to rent, Ionian Princess from the former’s season 1 starts at about $163,000. The Sirocco of seasons 2 and 4 lands in the pricey range of $192,000 to $213,500, whereas season 3’s Talisman Maiton crosses the $250,000 mark.

As for The Wellington in the fifth season, the 184.5-feet beauty goes from $260,000 to $280,000 for a week. However, season 6’s Lady Michelle breaks all bounds by costing between $270,000 to $310,000 plus expenses. With that said, a few years ago, show creator Mark Cronin revealed that the guests who appear on the series are given a discount of about 50% from the actual cost of chartering the vessel for three days.

“We ask them to tip about 15% to 20% of the full cost though,” Mark Cronin added on a Reddit thread . “The tip amount is up to them as well. They are not compensated, but we pay their airfare.” Along with that, the production team also supports the guests by providing hotel accommodations the night before and the night after the charter while ensuring their complete safety and comfort. How much does a Below Deck charter cost? It is a question fans have been asking for the past eight seasons of the hit Bravo show.

Now that the yachting show has added Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Sailing Yacht into the mix, viewers are obsessed with the franchise. Fans can’t get enough of the drama, boatmances, and the over the top charter guests with their crazy demands.

According to Distractify, Below Deck guests can expect to vacation on luxury yachts 150 to 160 feet long with exquisite guest quarters and multiple decks.

The Below Deck crew caters to the guest’s every need, from service to food and ensuring the guests have fun water toys to play on. There are also multiple excursions and party requests that have to be met.

It costs the guests a pretty penny to ensure they are taken care of in the entitled manner each group is used to. My Seanna is the yacht featured on Season 8, and online reports estimate it costs around $300,000 per week to rent.

Below Deck guests get a discount

Since the charters on Below Deck are either two or three days, as opposed to seven days, guests are given a discount on the yacht rental.

Below Deck producer and creator Mark Cronin has confirmed that guests on the Bravo show pay for their own charters. There are no free rides just to be on the reality TV show.

Mark spilled that since the charters are shorter and guests are filmed, groups receive a 50% discount on charters. Now that means between the rental price and crew tip, guests are still paying a nice chunk of change for a few days in paradise.

There has been speculation that Bravo pays guests to be on the show. However, that has never been confirmed, nor has if the crew gets paid by Bravo.

The luxury boats often receive a different name for production purposes too. For example, Below Deck Season 2 yacht Ohana was actually named Rhino. Plus, Below Deck Med Season 5 yacht The Wellington’s name is really The Wellesley.

Fans have lots of questions regarding Below Deck, including the amount of money the crew makes, charter costs, and the show’s authenticity.

While a lot of information has been uncovered, Bravo works hard to keep details private. It is a reality TV show, after all.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm of the Parsifal III for all four seasons of the hit show, and has now opened up about his life off-camera

Below Deck Sailing Yacht, the popular reality TV show, follows the crew of the Parsifal III as they cater to guests during their charters around Greece , Croatia, Spain and Italy. Captain Glenn Shephard has been at the helm for all four seasons.

The series offers a glimpse into the lives of the crew members who work and reside on the 177-foot yacht. There's never a dull moment onboard as the guests keep the crew on their toes.

In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, Glenn shared insights about his life both on and off the Parsifal. He is currently preparing to inaugurate the 55th Southampton International Boat Show, Britain's biggest marine festival, later this month.

Speaking from Croatia, one of his favourite sailing destinations, he said: "I'm currently in Croatia on my little boat, my girlfriend and I have a 42-footer. Croatia is amazing, I also really like Greece as a place to sail."

"I love the Caribbean and the Bahamas."

More recently, he admitted he had "slowed down", explaining: "I'm not working that much on the big boat [Parsifal] any more."

"I worked for 15 years on that boat, 12 years before any cameras showed up, doing exactly the same thing as you see on the show."

"But now I'm taking more time off to cruise on my boat. For a day in the life of a captain on a super yacht, you get up, and you meet some of the crew."

"It depends whether you have guests on board or are in between charters, but going to the wheelhouse, check emails, the guests get up."

"What's the plan for the day? Go out and do a sail, stop for lunch somewhere, maybe do another sail in the afternoon and get set up for dinner, maybe a beach party or picnic - something like that."

"All of the logistics you are figuring out. My job is very heavy on organising and keeping everybody on the plan."

"Keeping them motivated and interacting with the guests and making sure their needs are seen to."

He emphasised that no two days are alike, stating: "I think that's an average day but there's no normal day."

"There's always something crazy happening and I think that's why it makes for such a good TV show because nothing is planned, none of it is made up."

"But there's always something crazy happening on the boat."

He is soon to be found at Mayflower Park in Southampton, as the boat show runs from September 13 to September 22.

Captain Glenn will officially inaugurate the show at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and fans can hear from him directly during a special Q&A session on the Foredeck Stage at 3.30pm. A long-time crew member of the franchise, Gary King joined Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 as First Officer. Although he has worked well with others during his long duration on the show, Gary's conduct has been questioned over the past year-and-a-half. However, he denied the sexual misconduct allegations against him, which could hinder viewership for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 .

Even though many fans made it clear they would not tune in for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, it seemed as though some fans didn’t get the memo. Below Deck Sailing Yacht is a spin-off of the Below Deck reality television series. Premiering on Bravo, the show follows the life of a Yacht crew as they attempt to navigate a busy Charter season in which many customers make use of a 177-foot sailing yacht. Over the first three seasons, the yacht has been to Greece, Croatia, and Spain.

What really goes on below deck on the world's most glamorous superyachts

As I scraped away with a toothpick, trying to remove the tiniest specks of dust from a grate in the salon of the superyacht, I knew this wasn't what people had in mind when they pictured life below deck.

They're likely to envy me for working in beautiful surroundings, seeing stunning sunsets and drinking €30 cocktails in the most glamorous spots from Positano to Palma.

The Channel 4 reality show Below Deck - now in its tenth series - has gained a cult following, chronicling the lives of crew members, like me, who work aboard superyachts during charter season.

In part, the show is pretty accurate - I'm part of a dynamic team who work hard and play hard - but there are plenty of downsides the series doesn't show. Like starting the morning shift at 6am by cleaning up cocaine residue while your guests carry on hoovering up lines around you, or panicking because you haven't got time to dust your boss's collection of Birkin bags in-between sorting their laundry, changing their bedsheets and taking them their mid-morning almond milk cappuccino.

Unsurprisingly, cleaning with toothpicks does not feature on the reality show either.

And that's before we get to sleeping in a cabin so tiny that only one person can stand in it at any given time - though after several 17-hour days on the trot you're so tired, you're fit for nothing but falling into bed.

That's the full reality of life below deck: for every glamorous moment of being invited for a sunset swim alongside your super rich hosts, there are a hundred others in which you are nothing more than a glorified skivvy-cumwaitress-cum-nanny - sometimes all at the same time.

It's one reason that, after two years of working as a stewardess on some of the world's most beautiful boats - including a month aboard the superyacht of two global celebrities - at 23, I have decided to hang up my deck shoes for good and come home.

I fell into boat life by accident. While I grew up in a middle-class family and attended private school, I was never one of the yachting crowd. The first time I realised you could make a career out of sailing was when I came across a girl on TikTok who posted beautiful pictures of sunsets from all her travels under the hashtag #yachtlife.

It looked amazing and quickly got me hooked on the idea of joining the industry.

To Mum's dismay, after university, I didn't join a teacher training course as planned, but went on a two-week course on the Isle of Wight to get my qualifications, the first a STCW certificate (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) followed by stewardess training.

It cost €4,500, but I figured it would be money well spent.

The course throws you in the deep end - quite literally. You're taught sea survival skills, from how to rescue someone who falls off the boat to putting life rafts in the water, as well as learning how to put out a fire and evacuate those on board.

We learned about piracy, too - it's quite common around the coasts of Africa and South America - and the procedures to go through if your boat is hijacked.

The stewardess course covered everything from laundry and housekeeping to floristry and cocktails. You might think there's not much to learn about making a bed, but guests on superyachts expect a hospital corner, with not a crease in sight.

From there we were on to silver service, how to cut cigars for guests, how to identify premium champagnes and how to care for luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Cartier and Hermes when packing and unpacking guest suitcases. Jeans, for instance, must be folded in thirds, not quarters.

Every year, there's a big event in Antibes, one of the superyacht hotspots on the French Riviera, where 'greenies' - those who don't have any experience on a boat - turn up and try to get a job.

I wasn't sure of my chances there, competing with thousands of novices just like me. So I tried my luck in a different hunting ground and, along with a friend, flew out to Palma, Mallorca, which is another popular place for 'yachties'.

Getting work was harder than we'd anticipated. We had very little money (that €4,500 course had made sure of that), so we had to stay in a hostel, setting the alarm for 6.30am every day to go 'dock walking', as it's known canvassing for work by handing out CVs to boat crews.

Eventually, though, I was offered my first day of work, 'detail cleaning' on a luxury vessel in dry dock which had just been refurbished. For a day rate of €150 I had to meticulously clean one of the boat's two 'salons'.

After four weeks of day shifts, I landed my first full-time stewarding job on a charter yacht based in the south of France.

Hired out by guests throughout the summer for about €220,000 a week, it had four guest cabins, and eight crew - myself included - who lived in five tiny cabins below deck not much bigger than the average person's wardrobe.

I was told I'd be working ten hours a day but, from day one, I was often on shift from 6am until after midnight, with only a one-hour break.

I quickly realised that 17-hour days - and more - are common, and that while on paper my €3,500 monthly salary looked good since I wouldn't be spending much, in terms of an hourly rate, it's not much more than minimum wage.

And the job is exhausting: you're endlessly changing beds, sorting laundry, cleaning, then serving meals and drinks, before starting all over again.

On more than one occasion I phoned my mum in tears saying I didn't want to carry on but, in a way, I was lucky.

Exhaustion and loneliness were the biggest struggles for me in that first job, but a lot of girls encounter much worse.

One friend working on a superyacht had to sleep in the laundry room on towels because the billionaire owners said they didn't have a bed for her, while above deck she knew they were paying for underage girls to be brought on board for sex.

She phoned me in tears one day, saying she couldn't bear it: everyone had told her she had to 'stick it out'. I told her to disembark the moment she arrived in port.

Stories like that are not uncommon. Some of the boats may look amazing but don't meet the basic marine safety standards. And there are a lot of creeps about. Lots of crew I spoke to talked of seeing prostitutes being brought on board.

Sexual harassment is also rife, not just from the guests but sometimes the captain. I've heard stories about yacht owners paying to have sex with members of the crew who then have to serve breakfast to the wife.

I didn't have any problems on that front, but I was shocked by the drug use. Aside from the more energetic guests, partaking while I was setting the breakfast table, I lost count of the number of lines of cocaine I cleared up from the marble bathrooms and dressing tables.

Don't get me wrong - some guests were lovely. They'd invite you to join them for a drink, or for a swim. But there were plenty of people who could barely be bothered to acknowledge your existence or just talked down to you.

One time, I served a beer to a guest and without making eye contact he said icily 'Do you have a flake to put in that?' because he decided there was too much froth.

After three months of this, I was more than ready for a break, feeling the most tired I've ever been in my life and desperate to go home and rest.

But within hours of returning to my mum's, I had a call from a friend asking if I could fly back out to France to work as a stewardess on a highly prestigious yacht with a very famous owner.

I was bone tired, but it was too good an opportunity to turn down and so, within 24 hours, I was back below deck. - this time on a 50-metre yacht with 12 crew and two holidaying Hollywood celebrity owners for whom, for the month I was on board, I was the main port of call.

I was cleaning their cabins, serving their drinks and nannying their kids, all the time my eyes agog at the level of wealth on display around me.

I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), which means I can't say too much, but I will say they had a member of staff for pretty much any job you can think of, including a dog-walker.

Again I was lucky: the celebrities may have been mega-famous, but they did have manners.

They asked how I slept and said thank you, which is more than you can say for a lot of the one percent club of the world's wealthy.

Even so, after my month was up, I was ready for a break, and I returned home for the winter, only to return to join a 40-metre yacht based in the Med this summer.

This time the owners lived on board, meaning they were based on the boat, but would fly off to London or Hong Kong if they got bored.

They travelled a lot on the yacht too - during the few months I was there we sailed to Montenegro, Italy, Greece, Spain. I never got tired of coming into harbour in all these amazing places.

In the end, though, the physical tiredness got to me. While the owners were lovely - the wife once returned from a trip with a pair of Louboutin shoes for me - I was in a permanent sleep deficit, often topped up with a hangover, because there's a very heavy drinking culture.

When you do get a bit of time off, you want to spent at least a few hours in the place where you're docked, and that means letting off steam in the bars and restaurants.

The tiredness leads to other hazards too: one crew member I know broke their arm falling down a hatch on the boat.

I know numerous others, too, who have broken everything from fingers to ankles falling down stairs and tripping over hatches while the boat is in motion.

You can have all the safety procedures in the world, but there are natural hazards that come with walking round a boat at sea and they are magnified when you're tired - especially when the bow of the boat is rising three metres in the air before bouncing back down again in unsettled weather.

Weather at sea is unpredictable, and alongside millpond waters and stunning sunrises there are plenty of storms and squalls. When you're in passage, with no land in sight, it can be really scary: I've been thrown in the air from my bunk more than once.

It's easy to forget, too, that being at sea can result in more than just broken bones.

The dangers were writ large last month when Bayesian, the luxury boat owned by British tech tycoon Mike Lynch sank off the coast of Sicily in the early hours after being hit by a sudden, violent storm.

Seven people, including Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah tragically died.

The boat on which I was working had been there a week earlier, which made it feel terrifyingly close to home.

By the time the disaster happened, I'd already handed in my notice. I'd woken up one morning after just a couple of hours' sleep, in the certain knowledge that I couldn't face another six months at sea.

I'm working my notice period at the moment, and can't wait to take my suitcase down the gangway for the last time.

Even so, I won't totally rule out going back. For all the slog, there is something rather addictive about life below deck. - even if it's nowhere near as glamorous as it looks on TV.

Below Deck has shared the beauty and splendor of working on a luxury yacht. At times, it's the perfect life, but it's not always the easiest job. Especially working on deck. Some individuals excel. Others have crashed and burned. Lying on your resume is not going to get you far in the yachting industry. Below Deck had some wild deckhands who just couldn’t do the job. Sometimes, even putting the boat at risk. These are the deckies who are considered the worst of the worst.

With five series within the Below Deck franchise, Below Deck has been one of Bravo's biggest properties since 2013. Showcasing the fun balanced with work life on board the world's most incredible yachts, Below Deck has kept viewers glued to their screens season after season.

10 Danny Zureikat

Some individuals go above and beyond their job description. And that is fine. When it's warranted. For Below Deck Mediterranean 's Danny Zureikat , it was just too much. Everyone on the crew knew Danny was a good kid, he just wasn't meant to work on a megayacht.

Danny was the kind of person who wanted everybody to like him, even an attractive charter guest who miraculously and suddenly fell in love with. When he got a little too close, posing in photos with her and writing her a love note, he was reprimanded. He was warned about boundaries, but he defied those orders from Captain Mark Howard . He had his phone taken away while on charter, and made enemies with his fellow deckhands and Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier . Danny was ultimately let go in quite a tearful goodbye. As much as he meant well, he simply was not cut out for this life.

9 James Hough

'below deck' season 8.

James Hough was the flirt of Below Deck Season 8. As one of the attractive men aboard My Seanna, he was able to catch the eye of second stew Elizabeth Frankini . The two engaged in a bit of a flirtmance that ultimately distracted her to the point that Captain Lee Rosbach allowed Chief Stew Francesca Rubi to fire her.

Elizabeth blamed almost everyone else, but she might have been right that had it not been for James, she might have lasted until the season ended. James wasn't the most beloved by his fellow deckhands, causing him to think about leaving the season early. James was fine at his job, he just became a problem for everybody else.

8 Dane Jackson

'below deck' season 3.

Dane Jackson used to hold the title of the shortest tenure of a deckhand, but that honor was recently taken from him. Dane was one of the more controversial deckhands on Below Deck . Dane seemed to forget that his job was to remain professional while off the ship, and no matter what, they were still employees and represented the yacht.

Despite being a replacement deckhand, his job security was still at risk. He was a disruption to the crew through his drunken antics in the crew mess. During a crew excursion on an island, Dane continued his drunken antics and became unsafe to be around. Boson Eddie Lucas had to step in to reprimand Dane, which led to Captain Rosbach firing him the next day. Dane was there for a good time, not a long time.

7 Shane Coopersmith

When you earn the nickname Sunshine, normally it wouldn't be a bad thing. For Shane Coopersmith , it was used derogatory due to his positive demeanor. Being outgoing and positive didn't translate to his work onboard My Seanna. The Below Deck deckhand had a nonchalant aura, often found relaxing while the other deckhands were working hard.

While Shane always thrived at implementing the criticism to do better, it just didn't pan out. After sleeping past his alarm, Sunshine was let go by Captain Rosbach and Boson Lucas. They felt it was better to find someone else to take his spot. Shane was a really great person, but he just didn't gel with the rest of the crew.

6 Rhylee Gerber

'below deck' seasons 6 and 7.

With a fiery persona, Rhylee Gerber tried her best to get along with the boys. Unfortunately, that didn't necessarily happen. Some Below Deck fans might consider Rhylee misunderstood, but if you ask her coworkers, she was just a nuisance. Having prior experience as a captain on a fishing boat in Alaska, she was willing to get herself dirty with boys, but the yachting industry unfortunately became much more challenging.

During Season 6, she clashed with the first Boson of the season, Chandler Brooks . She was constantly at odds with Ashton Pienaar . This proved problematic when she was asked back as a replacement deckhand in the middle of the season under the guidance of Boson Ashton Pienaar. Ashton warned his crew about Rhylee, which caused immediate tension and strife. Rhylee may have had a strong work ethic, but her temper always got the best of her.

5 Peter Hunziker

'below deck mediterranean' season 5.

As a deckhand, Peter Hunziker was fine. However, Peter was known for making inappropriate comments towards his female coworkers. Boson Malia White was forced to endure him calling her "sweetheart" constantly. He was told to stop, but he didn't comprehend why it was a problem.

He was uncomfortably flirting with Chief Stew Bugsy Drake . But for Peter Hunziker, his Below Deck Mediterranean experience was shortened not by action on board, but by a social media post during the season. While Season 5 was in the middle of airing, a racist and misogynistic post resurfaced that caused Bravo and the show's production company to immediately fire him. He was edited out of the show, though he could occasionally be seen in the background of some shots.

4 Tom Pearson

'below deck sailing yacht' season 3.

Tom Pearson was really sweet. He wanted to prove his work while on Below Deck Sailing Yacht . Unfortunately, one crucial mistake cost him his job . With a resume that was perfect for the position, Parsifal III was his first time working on a ship of this magnitude.

After partying a bit too hard, Tom didn't have the best first impression. He tried to redeem himself, but after allowing the anchor to drag during an overnight watch, Captain Glenn Shephard had no other choice but to fire him. Tom understood his error and understood why he was let go. Tom may be one of the few individuals on this list that might actually deserve a second chance.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht

3 trevor walker, 'below deck' season 4.

Trevor Walker was too big for his britches. The former Paul Mitchell hair model came to Below Deck with an ego and an attitude, putting off all of his coworkers. When he first arrived on the motoryacht Valour, he was hired as the senior deckhand and second engineer. By the end of episode two, Trevor was demoted.

His inability to connect with the rest of the crew made him quite problematic as a worker. The dynamic was turbulent. Following a night out that led to excessive drinking and horrible behavior, the demoted deckhand was let go by Captain Rosbach. With his dismissal, the energy onboard quickly changed for the better.

2 Kyle Dickard

'below deck adventure' season 1.

For whatever reason, Below Deck Adventure never took off compared to the other spin-offs. The series, which was located in the stunning locales of Norway, took the formula of the flagship series but with an entirely new crew. One of whom was hot-headed deckhand Kyle Dickard . Like many others before him, Kyle was focused more on the fun rather than the work .

Having spent much of his time trying to have a fling with stew Kasie Faddah in front of charter guests. During crew nights out, Kyle's disruptive and aggressive behavior irked everyone. With living quarters so tight, Kyle also happened to be a terrible cabinmate. Deckhand Nathan Morley attempted to address the problems, but Kyle threatened to physically attack him. This was the final straw for Captain Kerry Titheridge , who fired Kyle immediately.

Below Deck Adventure

1 andrew sturby, 'below deck' season 2.

Andrew Sturby set a president on Below Deck : don't lie on your resume! Not everyone heeded that advice, but Andrew was the first example of how dangerous being a deckhand can be if you don't know what you're doing. Andrew was a bit of a goofy guy. He wasn't always the most professional, but he seemed like a fun person to be around. That's all well and good, but when you're not performing up the standard of the boat, your integrity as an employee will be called into question.

For Andrew, his poor performance caused Captain Rosbach to have to take a peek at his resume. What was discovered was that his resume had been largely embellished. Captain Lee is a professional but also wants to help individuals learn and grow. He gave Andrew a second chance to redeem himself. He just failed, putting the boat at risk. And thus, he was given the infamous plane ticket home. It's one thing to come in green and learn, but for Andrew, it would essentially be having to learn it all in the big leagues. It became a liability. This was not the place to learn everything.

In the above preview for Episode 15 of the series, which is set to air Sept. 9, Carrie makes a comment on what she sees as her fellow stew  Elena "Ellie" Dubaich 's perceived need to prove how senior she is on the boat.

The remark comes when the crew is decorating for a birthday dance party and Ellie is quick to give direction to her fellow stews. After simply running with her instructions and asking the necessary questions along the way, Carrie notes in a confessional interview, "I'm sensing that Ellie is trying to prove her authority, and I'm not here to take her job. I'm just here to help. You know, let her have her stage. You go! Good job, little buddy."

In her own confessional, Aesha Scott gives her own opinion on Carrie's work ethic.

"Carrie is a yachtie. You know, she's quick, she's efficient, she's urgent," explains the chief stew. "I really wish the other girls would take a leaf out of that book and stop worrying so goddamn much about how much power she has."

Ellie Dubaich was upset that Carrie O'Neill joined the crew

Even though she's not into the drama, the simple fact of  Carrie's arrival aboard Mustique caused some issues on its own.

" Ellie definitely confided in me that she felt like Aesha was pushing her to the curb because of the way Carrie kind of came in and was taking on other responsibilities," Chef Johnathan Shillingford explained during Season 9, Episode 14 of the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show.

And Ellie didn't deny it.

"There was an underlying mocking tone with Carrie that I sensed. That was her vibe. In my eyes, the floating position is basically a fourth stew position, so regardless of how much experience you have or what your rank is elsewhere, you've got to adapt to your rank in this environment," she said in the same clip. "So, in my eyes, Carrie's job was to assist us, finish the season on a high note. It wasn't her job to come and supervise us."

During Episode 13, Ellie also commented on news of the new stew's arrival, calling it "completely unnecessary" and "f-cking ridiculous."

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, Episode 14 Recap: Maximum Insecurity

Welcome to the  Below Deck Mediterranean  Season 9, Episode 14 recap! In this week’s episode, called “New Kid on the Dock,” the new stew on board captures Joe’s attention, while simultaneously bringing Ellie’s insecurity to a boil. Bri’s still mixing up everyone’s laundry, but Sandy’s willing to give her one more chance. Joe’s constant “nit-picking” is getting on Gael’s nerves, and she finally loses her cool with him. Here are some of the highlights from Below Deck Med Season 9, Episode 14.

A new stew joins the crew

Nathan welcomes the new girl , Scottish lassie Carrie O’Neill, aboard. He tells her she’s arrived at the right time since it’s the crew’s night out.

When she meets Sandy, the captain is pleased to see she’s got mixology experience. She’ll be a better choice to tend the bar than Ellie, who struggles.

Aesha is beyond pleased to finally have some experienced help on board. Carrie’s been a chief stew before, so she should fit right in with minimal training. And she’s ready to work wherever she’s needed.

“I don’t mind where you put me,” Carrie interviews. “Third stew, fourth stew, whatever. That doesn’t really bother me.”

Unfortunately, when Ellie comes out dressed up for their night off, Carrie gets off on the wrong foot. Ellie is a bit overdressed with a tiny crop top and super high heels.

Carrie jokes, “We need to get you a stripper pole to go with the stripper heels.” Ellie’s offended. They are pretty high. She can barely walk down the gangway to go to dinner.

Joe’s attention is all on the shiny new girl. Bri jokes he’s going for “number three,” but at least she was “number one.” In the van she tells Jono and Nathan that she’s “done” with Joe. He’s already on to the next new thing.

Nathan tells her, “He’s like a dog with two d*cks. He’ll never seal the deal.”

Ellie sees a rival, and there’s bad news for Nathan from home

Aesha and Carrie seem to be hitting it off like a house on fire.

“Aesha and Carrie seem to be getting along very quickly,” Ellie interviews. “This might mean some sort of trouble for me. I’ve earned my position on this boat, and if my position should be threatened at all, I’m just not going to back down. That’s just how I operate.”

Later, Nathan gets a text from a friend: “Did you hear Tommy passed away 2 days ago?”

“What the f*ck?!” Nathan says and immediately starts wiping away tears.

Gael notices how quiet he is and asks, “What’s happening? Are you okay?”

Later at the club, Nathan’s hitting the drinks pretty hard. “Are you all right?” she asks again.

In a confessional, Nathan explains, “So I get this text that my friend’s just passed away from cancer. I knew he had cancer, but the night before I came to join the boat, we were out drinking. He seemed like he was okay … I’m just pushing it aside for now.”

On the way back to the boat, Nathan snaps at Gael, and she knows he’s not okay. “What’s going on?” she finally asks. “Why have you cut me off?”

“I have a friend who died yesterday night,” he tearfully admits.

“I’m so sorry,” she says, giving him a hug. “I understand.”

Back in the boys’ cabin, Aesha tells Joe he needs to support his friend. “He’s distraught right now,” she says.

When Nathan returns to their cabin, Joe says, “How are you, lad? … It’s life, you know. We’re just on a little journey.”

As shallow as Joe can be, he’s concerned about Nathan. “He’s a brother, so I’m gonna be there for Nathan. Whatever he needs.”

“I hope you can get some rest,” Joe says, helping Nathan into his upper bunk.

Preparing for the new guests

The next morning, Aesha has a little meeting with her newly expanded service crew. “On this charter,” she tells them, “[Ellie and Bri] will still be on your same schedules … [Carrie’s] gonna be with me. I just want you to float around and help as needed.”

Aesha just wants to see what Carrie can do, so she knows how to fit her into the schedule.

“[Carrie’s experience] outranks Ellie and Bri,” the chief stew confesses. “But I don’t want to upset anyone. So she’s just, like, my floater. There’s no rank.”

But in an interview, Ellie seems to think she’s still above Carrie, as she’s the second stew. “We’re in a hierarchy for a reason,” she interviews. “So just play your role.” Should be interesting when the new guests come, and we find out how many stripes Aesha gives Carrie. I can’t wait.

Meanwhile, on deck, Joe and Gael are getting things ready for the guests to arrive at 1:00. As Gael squeegees the glass, Joe suggests she use the smaller squeegee, since it works better.

Even though he’s the Lead Deckhand and entitled to give her direction, she thinks he’s being “passive-aggressive.”

“I don’t know if he’s trying to prove himself,” Gael interviews, “but I don’t think this is the way to do it … I know what I’m doing.” His “micromanaging” is driving her crazy.

More laundry mixup

Crew members are still struggling to find their uniforms. How is laundry so hard? You wash it, you dry it, you look at the nametags, and return everything to its rightful owner. Why is Bri so bad at this?

Even though he’s annoyed, Joe’s actually “shutting me mouth,” so Bri doesn’t get fired. Finally, he breaks down and tells Aesha that he’s on his last polo shirt and can she “sort it out” for him?

“I had no idea the crew has been covering up for [Bri],” Aesha interviews. “It just makes me want to explode.”

“I had to separate jobs in the laundry to pander to Bri because she swore [she wasn’t] making the mistakes,” Aesha adds in her confessional. “[But] it was Bri the whole time.”

It’s too late in the season to replace her. And then she’d be down to three stews again. “I really, really want to finish with four,” she adds.

Even so, Aesha tells Captain Sandy that people have been avoiding telling her that they have no clean uniforms, in order to protect Bri.

“I love that the crew [has] each other’s back,” Sandy confesses. “But we need to know … in order to correct it.”

“Just leave it with me,” Sandy says. “I’ll deal with it.”

Getting to the bottom of the laundry problem

When Sandy goes down to the laundry looking for her own clothes, Bri has mixed everything up.

“Why are you moving my clothes?” she asks. “You are still f*cking up with the laundry. What is it? What do you think it is?”

“I just feel like the system isn’t working for me,” Bri says. System? It’s laundry! It shouldn’t be that hard.

“Whatever you need to do your job is what you ask for,” Sandy says.

Bri suggests “little clip-on beads with colors,” cause she thinks she’ll remember better with colors rather than with writing. Why didn’t she bring this up before?

Sandy says, “Just get your head in the game. We’ve got two charters left … I’m gonna get you what you need.”

Failure to communicate

The new charter guests are on board, and everyone has a drink in hand. It’s time to get going. Iain’s dragging his feet about releasing lines, even though he’s got three people on the stern. Sandy sends Joe back to help.

“We’re on the second to the last charter,” Sandy confesses. “We should be able to un-dock with our eyes closed.”

When Iain ignores Sandy’s radio calls, she tells him to let his crew handle the lines so he can just talk to her. “Iain, you need to communicate,” she radios.

As Ellie sets the table for lunch, the wind knocks over one of the wine glasses. Aesha starts cleaning up the glass. She tells Ellie and Carrie to “stand by in the galley to start running platters.”

Ellie hears “start running platters,” and Carrie follows her lead. They both head up to the table, serving dishes in hand.

When Aesha sees them approaching, she says, “No, I didn’t say ‘come.’ I said ‘stand by.’” She’s still picking up broken glass.

“Jono, we’re just holding cause glass is flying everywhere,” Aesha radios the chef.

Ellie grows more insecure

Carrie attempts to make a suggestion to Ellie at the bar. The Second Stew rebuffs her.

“I don’t know why we need a new person,” Ellie whines in a confessional. “It feels like I’m about to get demoted. If I’m reading this situation correctly, it would make me start resenting Aesha for that decision.”

In contrast, Bri is telling Jono about her “wack” morning while she washes dishes in the galley.

“I appreciate every second chance or … seventh chance that they’ve given me,” she says. “I’m just gonna try my best to do better.”

“Me, too,” he agrees.

Princess with a bite

The deck crew is grabbing a quick bite in the crew mess. Joe comes in and says they might as well put the water toys away. Gael’s already showered and changed into her polo since Iain told her she could.

“I don’t have any dry wets,” Gael says, meaning the long-sleeve shirt they wear to protect them from the sun and small water creatures, such as jellyfish.

“You’re a princess,” Joe accuses her.

“You’re a pr*ck,” she snaps back.

“At least we both know where we stand,” Joe shrugs.

As Gael stomps off to her cabin, Nathan tells Joe, “You proper pissed her off, man.” Joe says he’ll apologize.

For her part, Gael admits her “blood is boiling.” She thinks the closer she gets to Nathan, the more Joe picks on her. And she’s not going to put up with it.

“I’m no princess, honey,” she interviews. “If he’s trying to get a reaction out of me, I’ll give you one. And then I’ll give you another.”

Ellie questions her boss

Carrie pops her head into the laundry to see if Bri needs any help. Bri says she’s good, and when she leaves, Bri interviews, “I’m just so happy to have [Carrie] around to get some extra help.”

What a difference between Bri and Moaning Myrtle.

Aesha’s tidying the bar when Ellie stops by. “How nice is this?” Aesha asks. “We’re so on top of things now!”

“So Carrie was on service today, just for training, right?” Ellie asks.

Aesha explains that she had Carrie helping out so she could gauge how much she knows about service. She’ll actually be filling in everywhere.

“I kind of felt like a third wheel,” Ellie says. “Is this how it’s gonna go for the rest of the season?”

“You were here, too, though,” Aesha responds.

“As a third wheel,” Ellie laughs nervously. “As long as I don’t feel like I’m being demoted.”

“At the end of the day, it’s my call,” Aesha says. “I’ll put her where I see fit. I’m not demoting you, I’m just putting her on service.”

“Just checking,” Ellie says, before walking away.

“When I’ve got Carrie around,” Aesha interviews, “I understand why Ellie might be feeling like a third wheel. But she should be grateful that we’ve got an extra set of hands. If you want to be a chief stew, you’ve got to understand that the most important thing is the guest experience. Not my second stew’s insecurity.”
