Vitamin maker and Lindemann heiress revealed as purchasers of Star Island estate for $38M: sources

It hit the market four years ago for $65M

UPDATED, April 2, 6 p.m.: Nutrition power couple Roger and Sloan Barnett are the buyers of a Star Island mansion in Miami Beach that sold last month for $38 million, The Real Deal has learned.

Roger Barnett is CEO of Shaklee Corp., a Pleasanton, California-based nutrition and green cleaning products company, and is the founder of Beauty.com, one of the first internet cosmetics retailers. He is a son of Victor Barnett, former chairman of Burberry, and a member of the Wolfson family.

Sloan Barnett, the daughter of late billionaire businessman George Lindemann , is a lawyer and journalist who has authored books on nutrition.

The couple, of San Francisco, acquired 46 Star Island Drive , sources told TRD . Property records show a hidden Delaware LLC bought the property. The Realtor.com listing shows it sold for $39 million, a price that likely includes furnishings.

Their purchase comes months after they also paid $17.4 million for a unit at Palazzo Della Luna on Fisher Island.

Star Island, Miami Beach: Mansions & Celebrity Residents

Star Island is a gated community located on an artificial island that lies off the MacArthur Causeway in between the main islands of Miami Beach and mainland Florida. From classical architectural wonders to modern mega-mansions, this luxurious neighborhood on the sea has seen its share of history, glamor, fame, and even drama. 

In this article, we discuss what makes Star Island so special and list some of its celebrity homeowners.

The History of Star Island

As an artificial island, Star Island was not around for Miami Beach’s 19th Century origins. However, by the early 20th Century, the railway reached Miami-Dade County, and developers began to realize Miami Beach’s potential as a resort town.

As entrepreneurs and the government improved the land, the town grew. Part of this improvement involved draining marshes and leveling islands as well as making totally new islands. Star Island was one of these, created in 1922 by the Army Corps of Engineers through sand dredging. 

Carl Fisher was the first man to own Star Island, along with much of the land in Miami Beach. A self-made man, Fisher was a renowned entrepreneur and promoter who seemed to have a magic ability to make anything popular and trendy.

Starting with a single bike repair shop, Fisher eventually got into the automobile parts industry and played a large role in popularizing the automobile and highway lifestyle in the United States. Eventually, his ventures turned into real estate development, creating popular destinations for highway motorists, of which Miami Beach was one of his favorites. 

Star Island quickly became prize real estate with famous architects like Walter De Garmo building large mansions for some of the most important people in the United States. Through the decades, new residents have torn down many of the old mansions and built new ones, but the exclusivity and glamor of the island have remained constant.

The Lifestyle of Star Island’s Rich and Famous

Star Island’s lifestyle epitomizes the lifestyle of America’s rich and famous.  There are nearly as many pools and tennis courts on the island as there are mansions, many of which you might recognize from music videos and films.

Naturally, Star Islands residents enjoy their privacy. That’s part of why they live on an island after all. The houses are all tucked away and secluded, though that doesn’t mean there isn’t the possibility of friendships between the residents. Indeed, many people who live on Star Island enjoy entertaining, and many of the houses include large guest quarters and pool houses. 

There can also be drama as well, oftentimes over plans to renovate, demolish or build homes. For example, Real Housewife of Miami Lisa Hochstein and her husband Leonard Hochstein once got in a feud with some of the island’s residents over construction plans for 42 Star Island Drive. 

Of course, the lifestyle on the island is ultimately one of great luxury. It’s common to see a lot of new faces on the island because there are also service people like gardeners, pool cleaners, yacht crews, and drivers coming and going. The residents of Star Island are used to having everything they need with a snap of their fingers. 

Access to Star Island and Its Amenities

Star Island is a gated community. The only way to access the neighborhood is by boat or a single bridge that connects the island to the MacArthur Causeway, the main highway that joins Miami Beach to mainland Florida. The bridge, which forms Bridge Road, arrives at a guarded gate before turning into Star Island Drive which makes a loop in the center of the island and serves all the homes.

Although there are a guard and gate, Star Island is technically public. In fact, many guided tours go through the neighborhood in order to see the mansions of the many celebrities who live there.  There are also boat tours  that circle the island.

Private individuals can sometimes gain entry to Star Island Drive where they can view the homes, though they do have to speak with the guard first. Usually, they can enter as long as they seem safe and promise not to loiter.

Architecture on Star Island

Star Island is well known for its architecture. It’s a point of pride as well as occasionally a point of contention. Many of the homes were built by famed Miami architect Walter De Garmo who was active in the early 20th Century.

De Garmo’s work is considered neo-Classical, Mission Revival, and Mediterranean Revival, which means a lot of structures call back to colonial Spanish or Venetian architecture like white-walled stucco villas featuring courtyards, arches, clay shingles, and columns.

In some cases, new residents on Star Island have sought to demolish old De Garmo homes, leading to resistance from the surrounding community. Other residents have opted to physically move classical De Garmo houses.

A famous example is 27 Star Island Drive , where new owners decided to move one of De Garmo’s most famous works known as Casa Di Paolo to the other side of the property to make way for a new, larger home. The original De Garmo mansion included 12 bedrooms and will now serve as the guest house for the new residents.

Notable Star Island Homes and Residents

Imagine walking out your front door and seeing Emilio Estefan jogging down the street. Or maybe looking into your neighbor’s backyard to see P. Diddy swimming in his pool. What about waving to Shaq as he pulls his yacht into his dock?

Star Island lives up to its name, as it’s home to some of the country’s wealthiest and most influential individuals. Here are some of the current and former owners of property on Star Island:

Gloria Estefan - 1 Star Island Drive

1 Star Island is one of the first houses you can see when driving onto the island. The home is also known as Nena’s Villa and is owned by the famous Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan. She has reportedly rented it out in the past. A month in the guest house will cost you $30,000 a month, or you can rent the entire property for $75,000 a month.

Nena’s Villa is classified as a “Floridian Villa” and has a long circular driveway that splits, leading to a white, two-story, terraced mansion matched with a somewhat smaller guest house. Like all homes on Star Island, Nena’s Villa has access to Biscayne Bay and views of the sea pointing toward the MacArthur Causeway. The house features an outdoor kitchen, a pool, and two hot tubs.

Thomas Kramer - 4 & 5 Star Island Drive

Thomas Kramer is a German-born real estate developer and entrepreneur known for a number of projects in Miami Beach. His Star Island estate was known for its strange style and wild parties, some of which have aired on TV shows like the Real Housewives of New York City. The inside of the house was sometimes described as “Wagnerian” with Victorian-era decorations, animal skins, and large paintings.

Thomas Kramer sold this estate in 2018 to Stuart Miller. 

Stewart Miller - Multiple Lots

Stewart Miller is the CEO of the Lennar Corporation, a construction and real estate company based in Miami and the largest home construction company in the United States. It makes sense then that Miller and his family have been involved in many real estate dealings and construction projects on the island.

In fact, the Miller family owns a number of other houses on the island through the Trust of Brian Bilzin, a partner at the law firm Bilzin Sumberg. These allegedly include 4, 5, 6, 11, and 12 Star Island Drive. Miller sold 22 Star Island Drive for $49.5 million in 2020.

Phillip Frost - 21 Star Island Drive

Phillip Frost is a billionaire who made his fortune through a number of pharmaceutical companies. He owns large market shares of companies like ChromaDex, MusclePharm, and Protalix and has served on the board of directors for companies like Northrop Grumman and OPKO Health. 

Frost’s villa at 21 Star Island Drive is on the northern side of the island and includes a 37,240-square-foot house on an over six-acre plot, making it one of Star Island’s largest and most elaborate properties.

A large garden overlooks the sea and several boat docks, and a large fountain decorates the gated driveway leading to the mansion. The house, which matches the standard Floridian Villa style of the neighborhood, also features a tennis court and pool. 

Vladislav Doronin - 26 Star Island Drive

Vladislav Doronin is the CEO of OKO Group, an international real estate development company operating primarily in New York and Miami. Doronin is a Russian national who originally became successful by starting Capital Group, a real estate company in Moscow. Doronin has made headlines due to his romantic relationships with models Naomi Campbell and Kristina Romanova. His home includes a classical entryway with a circular fountain, a pool, and a tennis court.

Emilio and Gloria Estafans - 39 Star Island Drive

Emilio and Gloria Estefan have owned 39 Star Island Drive since 1986. The villa is elaborately landscaped with a lot of palm trees and has a tennis court in the front yard and a pool in the back.

Lisa Hochstein - 42 Star Island Drive

42 Star Island Drive has become famous due to its significance in the Real Housewives of Miami TV show. Real Housewife Lisa Hochstein owns the home along with her husband, plastic surgeon Leonard Hochstein.

In 2013, the Hochstein's applied to demolish the house they had originally bought with the property. This was a pre-WWII neo-Classical house built in 1925 by famed Miami architect Walter De Garmo, and historical preservationists petitioned to block the demolition .

Ultimately, however, the Hochstein's won and moved forward with their plans to build a 20,000-square-foot mansion with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a game room, and a wine cellar.

David and Linda Frankel - 43 Star Island Drive

43 Star Island Drive is one of the more famous homes on Star Island, primarily because it was formerly owned by famous actress and television host Rosie O’Donnell.

More infamously, it was also once the headquarters for the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church, which turned out to be a front for a marijuana smuggling operation. The landscaping is notable on this house, dividing it from the other properties and blocking much of its back yard and pool which face the MacArthur Causeway.

Star Island Climate

One of the reasons that Star Island attracts the world’s rich and famous is its climate. As part of Miami Beach, it lies in one of only two cities in America that have never experienced freezing temperatures.

The island's location on the sea in Biscayne Bay makes the climate and temperature even milder than in mainland Miami itself with average January lows around 61 degrees and average August highs around 89 degrees. This causes the seawater to usually stay between 75 and 86, meaning boating and swimming are comfortable year-round.

The rich and famous also enjoy Star Island’s sunlight, whether out by the pool or on the yachts docked right in their backyard. Every month on Star Island receives over 200 hours of sunshine, which equates to about 70% sunshine per day. Just about every day of the year has some period of sunshine to enjoy, even during the rainy season.

Speaking of which, Star Island also gets a lot of rain. Southern Florida is classified as a “tropical monsoon” climate, which means large storms regularly move through the area, especially during the months of May-October. With an average of 15 rainy days, June is the rainiest month. In general, this isn’t really a problem, though. A large amount of moisture makes the beautifully landscaped mansion properties lush with palm trees possible.

Of course, powerful storms aren’t all roses and palm trees. In August and September, Miami Beach and therefore Star Island are especially susceptible to hurricanes. These damage structures, vehicles, and boats in Miami Beach and can cause flooding and evacuations.

Star Island tends to fare a bit better than the other islands of Miami Beach, mostly because the residents can more readily afford the quality infrastructure and hurricane preparedness measures. That doesn’t mean they’re immune, though, and strong winds sometimes damage expensive boats and structures.

With its unique resemblance of a star floating on the ocean, Sam’s Star Island Yacht Club has come a long way from the boat yard it once was. Sam Gershowitz and his team have turned it into a great destination for boaters on the East Coast. “It’s a beautiful place,” Gershowitz says with pride. “It’s a yacht club and a marina, and we cater to people here. It’s a very comfortable place to hang around.”

No marina in the area offers more facilities and services. Miami’s Most Expensive House is Star Island’s Long Lost Yacht Club

In its earliest glory days, Star Island was the pearl earring of Miami Beach, the first island completely built from scratch by city father Carl Fisher whose dredges had previously just expanded existing terra firma. (or in the case of the sandbar that is Miami Beach, terra not-so-firma)

At the end of a gracious, green pill-shaped circular road that feels more like a landscaped piazza was a grand yacht club, which was apparently quite the destination in its day but has left so shockingly little of an historical record that its memory has been almost completely erased from existence despite almost all of the original building sticking around even until today. At some point in history the immense clubhouse was subdivided into two luxurious private homes, one of which, 22 Star Island,  was recently moved from one side of its lot to the other to make room for a gargantuan modernist pile.

The address is Number 46 Star Island Drive. Notice the numbering difference? The island’s addresses would have gone from 1-45 Star Island Drive, and, well, they still do, except that smack in the middle is number 46, made that way out of necessity from the subdivision of the grand old club.

And it is grand. The house has obviously gone through a number of renovations over the years, but you can still see its old bones shining through. Look at that ceiling in the living room. The ten bedroom, twelve bath, 20,000 square foot house is most significant for being the surviving reminder of  a forgotten relic, and for the special architectural details that lie among more mundane later additions. Whoever did the renovations was not nearly as talented as the original architects. Still, with an expansive piece of land, lots of square footage, the provenance, and the location, it’s listed for a spectacular $46 million.

Bottom Line

Overlooking Lake Montauk, this family-friendly resort is a classic summer getaway with views of the attached marina, bobbing with boats, and a white lighthouse. A family-friendly resort with a variety of activities and restaurants.

The historic Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina evokes another time. Originally built in 1928 by entrepreneur Carl Fisher (the man credited with turning Miami from a sleepy backwater town to a thriving resort metropolis), the resort quickly became the local go-to vacation destination for the wealthy (original members of the club include J.P. Morgan, Vincent Astor, and Harold S. Vanderbilt). Charles Lindbergh is said to have often flown his seaplane into the harbor to dock at the club's marina. And according to local legend, the Island Club (which was located next door to the original resort and would eventually become part of the resort as it stands today) was the most popular speakeasy and gambling casino around town during Prohibition. To avoid trouble, the club posted watchmen at the stone stanchions at the end of the island's causeway -- when the police stopped by, the guards would radio the club for management to hide the liquor and gambling equipment.

Today, the resort maintains some of that storied appeal (the towering white lighthouse is what beaconed guests to the resort from its inception). Yet there are plenty of modernized amenities to keep today's guest happy -- though the two outdoor pools and small private beach are popular with kids, so if you’re looking for some celebrity-style peace and quiet, head to the ocean. Despite updates and upgrades, one original trait has remained consistent through the years: The resort, as a whole, attracts a wealthy set, and guests shouldn't be surprised to see the occasional celebrity roaming its grounds.

At the easternmost tip of Long Island, the Montauk Yacht Club’s lakeside location is kitty corner from Montauk Harbor -- an area with restaurants, shops, and plenty of harborside sightseeing. In addition to downtown Montauk (a nine-minute drive from the hotel), there are many nearby towns to explore, and, of course, miles of sandy beaches to enjoy. The drive to East Hampton takes about 25 minutes, and driving to Sag Harbor and Southampton takes about 40 and 55 minutes, respectively.

Pools, tennis courts, and bonfires make this a fun summer resort

Montauk Yacht Club Resort isn't right on the Atlantic, but it offers many on-site amenities to redress the non-oceanfront location. There are two outdoor heated pools, both surrounded by brick patios and overlooking the marina. A small sandy beach with loungers and umbrellas (free; cabanas also available for a fee) overlooks the lake, but both it and the outdoor pools can feel crowded with kids. The oval-shaped indoor pool, also heated, provides a nice alternative; it's set in a skylit space with vintage pinstripe wooden surfboards hanging on the white wood walls. 

The full-service Spa MYC offers massages, body treatments, facials, waxing, and nail work, as well as spa packages and the option of in-room service. A fitness center provides all the necessary equipment (free weights, ellipticals, treadmills, machinery), plus cedar saunas, and there are four outdoor tennis courts, with racquets and balls free to use. Paddleboards, cruiser bikes, and kayaks are all free to borrow, and there is a playground for kids. The resort grounds include areas for volleyball, bocce ball, and horseshoes, plus outdoor seating areas and fire pits (the resort holds bonfires with s’mores in the warmer months). Private, semi-private, or group surf lessons and paddleboard sessions or tours can be arranged, and a Kids' Surf Academy is held on the weekdays. Excursions are available from charter boats in the marina. The hotel offers free shuttle service to Montauk Harbor, downtown, and beaches. Parking and resort-wide Wi-Fi are both free.

Montauk Yacht Club offers a good mix of dining options that appeal to both families and couples seeking romance. The upscale Coast Kitchen is a New American restaurant focusing on local ingredients (the menu features a daily fresh catch), while the casual The Alley & The Deck has a Florida feel and offers both indoor and outdoor seating. B-Bar is an indoor nautical-style lounge offering specialty cocktails and small bites, and the seasonal Sunset Pier allows for dockside eating, drinking, and watching the sunset.

Lawsuits and allegations against Sean 'Diddy' Combs: Timeline

Sean "Diddy" Combs was for decades among the most influential entertainers and music entrepreneurs in the business, along the way becoming fabulously wealthy by turning hip-hop stardom into luxury business branding.

As allegations of sexual assault, physical violence and human trafficking mounted over the last months -- allegations Combs has largely and vehemently denied -- his business empire has been taking hits.

Several brands and organizations have cut ties with Combs, as have two of the cities he's called home: New York City took back his ceremonial key and Miami Beach terminated its "Diddy Day."

Combs, through his attorneys, has denied allegations of criminal activity, but did issue a video apology to onetime girlfriend Cassie Ventura during the spring after graphic footage showing Combs assaulting Ventura surfaced in the media. The footage appeared to confirm some of the allegations in a complaint filed by Ventura and later settled. At the time, Combs said settling was not an admission of guilt.

At the same time, Combs has been facing a litany of civil suits alleging offenses as far back as the early 1990s. Some were brought under the specific New York laws that allowed a lookback window and extended the time alleged victims of sexual offenses could file a complaint, even long after the statutes of limitations might have lapsed.

Separately, federal authorities, led by Manhattan prosecutors assigned to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, have quietly been pushing forward on a probe into Combs as the subject of an ongoing investigation into alleged human trafficking. As part of that investigation, a grand jury and investigators have been probing some of the accusations that have been made in some of the civil suits against Combs, among other things.

Federal authorities with Homeland Security Investigations raided Combs’ properties in both Los Angeles and Miami Beach on March 25 as part of their investigation, seizing electronic devices in the process.

The searches of those two homes sought evidence to corroborate accounts of his accusers, and signaled federal prosecutors in New York believed they were close to filing charges in the case they were building. Prosecutors have interviewed a number of Diddy’s accusers, including those who filed civil lawsuits, law enforcement sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

Combs was arrested on Monday in New York City by federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations, law enforcement sources told ABC News. He was charged with sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution and racketeering conspiracy, alleging he ran an "enterprise that he engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor or, kidnapping, arson and other crimes," according to the indictment unsealed on Tuesday.

Cassie Ventura

Complaint filed on nov. 16, 2023.

Former longtime girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a civil suit against Combs alleging years of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, saying she had endured "over a decade of his violent behavior and disturbed demands" and was "trapped by Mr. Combs in a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking."

Ventura's suit alleged that Combs had raped her, "often punched, beat, kicked and stomped on" her, "forced Ms. Ventura to engage in sex acts with male sex workers while masturbating and filming the encounters," and "introduced Ms. Ventura to a lifestyle of excessive alcohol and substance abuse and required her to procure illicit prescriptions to satisfy his own addictions."

Combs “vehemently” denied the allegations. A day after filing, Ventura’s suit was settled with both parties saying it had been resolved “amicably.”

In May, hotel surveillance footage taken in 2016 and obtained by CNN allegedly showed Combs physically assault Ventura during an altercation that aligned closely with allegations in her previous suit.

Two days later, Combs released a video on Instagram acknowledging the footage and apologizing, saying in part, "my behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry. But I'm committed to be a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I'm truly sorry."

Joi Dickerson-Neal

Complaint filed: nov. 23, 2023.

One day before the Adult Survivors Act, a New York law that allowed alleged victims of sexual offenses dating back decades to file for a 1-year period, was scheduled expire, Joi Dickerson-Neal filed suit against Combs accusing him of drugging and raping her in January 1991, when she was a college student at Syracuse University.

She alleged in the suit that Combs videotaped the assault and distributed it to others in the music industry. A spokesperson for Combs denied the allegations, calling the case a “last-minute lawsuit” and “an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned on its head.”

Liza Gardner

Liza Gardner filed a lawsuit against Combs claiming that he and a singer-songwriter both took turns raping her and a friend one night in the early 1990s. The suit said Gardner and her friend met Combs and the singer-songwriter at an MCA Records event, was invited back to the singer-songwriter's apartment for an afterparty, and there was “offered more drinks" and was "coerced” into having sex with Combs. When Combs was done, the suit says, the singer-songwriter "barged into the room, pinned her down, and forced Liza Gardner to have sex with him" and "when Combs finished with Liza Gardner, he and [the singer-songwriter] switched, and they commenced assaulting Liza Gardner's friend."

Days later, the suit said, Combs tracked Gardner and the friend down where they were staying because he was "worried" his actions would be exposed to his girlfriend. Combs was "irate and began assaulting and choking" Gardner "to the point that she passed out."

A spokesperson for Combs said "these are fabricated claims falsely alleging misconduct from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute. This is nothing but a money grab. Because of Mr. Combs’ fame and success, he is an easy target for anonymous accusers who lie without conscience or consequence for financial benefit. The New York Legislature surely did not intend or expect the Adult Survivors Act to be exploited by scammers. The public should be skeptical and not rush to accept these bogus allegations.”

Complaint filed: Dec. 6, 2023

Combs, a business associate and a third defendant are named in a complaint by a woman identified only as Jane Doe who alleged that in 2003, when she was 17 years old, she was sex-trafficked and gang-raped by Combs, the associate and a "third assailant."

According to the complaint, the associate approached the teen at a Michigan lounge, and then, with Combs on the phone, convinced the teen to take a private jet to New York. The suit alleges the associate smoked crack cocaine in the lounge bathroom, "forced" Doe to give him oral sex, then "directed her to accompany" him and others to the jet. Once at the New York studio, the suit alleges in graphic detail, Doe was plied with drugs and alcohol, "directed" by Combs to accompany him to the bathroom, and gang raped by Combs, the associate and the third person.

In a post to Instagram Combs denied the allegations saying, "enough is enough."

"For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, Destroy my reputation and legacy," he said. "Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. Let me be absolutely clear; I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, family and for the truth. I did not do any of the awful things being alleged."

Rodney 'Lil Rod' Jones

Complaint filed: feb. 26, 2024.

Music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones sued Combs, accusing him in graphic detail of unwanted sexual contact and of forcing him to hire prostitutes and to participate in sex acts with them.

While working on Combs’ “Love” album during 2022 and 2023, Jones alleges Combs grabbed his genitals without consent, and that he also tried to “groom” him into having sex with another man, telling him it was “a normal practice in the music industry.”

Attorneys for Combs have sought to dismiss Jones' suit, claiming the music producer’s complaint is an “attempt to dress up a run of the mill commercial disagreement as a salacious RICO conspiracy” to siphon money from the rap mogul. An attorney for Combs, Erica Wolff, mocked Jones’ lawsuit as more than 100 pages of “countless tall tales, shameless celebrity namedrops, and irrelevant images” that lacks “a single viable claim” against Combs.

“Mr. Jones’s lawsuit is pure fiction -- a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement. There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted, or trafficked. We look forward to proving -- in a court of law -- that all of Mr. Jones’s claims are made-up and must be dismissed,” Wolff said in a statement.

Grace O'Marcaigh

Complaint filed: april 4, 2024.

A lawsuit against Sean Combs’ younger son Christian alleged he sexually assaulted Grace O’Marcaigh, a yacht worker, while she attended to the Combs family on a holiday outing in December 2022. The suit accused Sean Combs of aiding and abetting and premised liability, since he had rented the yacht, and included ten other unnamed people as defendants.

The suit claimed there are recordings of the encounter and described in graphic detail the alleged sexual assault in the yacht’s cinema room after Christian Combs allegedly forced O’Marcaigh to take a tequila shot that, she said she suspected, was spiked with drugs. The suit noted Rodney Jones was on the yacht at the time and made audio recordings of Christian Combs drugging and sexually assaulting O’Marcaigh. The filings include images of bruises O’Marcaigh said she suffered when Christian Combs was "violently grabbing her and attempting to force her to perform" oral sex.

Aaron Dyer, attorney for Christian and Sean Combs, said in a statement that “this is just another lewd and meritless claim from [lawyer] Tyrone Blackburn -- just like what he filed in the Rodney Jones lawsuit, which he still has not served. This complaint is filled with the same kind of manufactured lies and irrelevant facts we’ve come to expect from Blackburn. This is exactly why the federal judge in New York slapped him two days ago for a ‘pattern of behavior’ in ‘improperly [filing] cases in federal court to garner media attention, embarrass defendants with salacious allegations, and pressure defendants to settle quickly,’ and why he was referred to the disciplinary committee in the Southern District of New York. We will be filing a motion to dismiss this outrageous claim.”

Crystal McKinney

Complaint filed: may 21, 2024.

A former model named Crystal McKinney accused Combs of sexually assaulting her in 2003 at his recording studio in New York City, when she was 22 years old.

The suit alleged McKinney met Combs at a Fashion Week event at Cipriani Downtown, where he "was flirtatious, bordering on leering," plied her with alcohol, and later that night requested her presence at his studio.

McKinney arrived there finding Combs and others drinking and smoking marijuana, which she also smoked, and, according to the suit, "later came to understand" Combs had "laced" it with "a narcotic or other intoxicating substance." The suit alleged Combs "demanded" she "follow him" and "physically led" her to the bathroom where he forced her to perform oral sex, claiming the assault "has caused ... lifelong harm," severe depression and substance abuse, and that Combs "blackballed" her from the industry.

April Lampros

Complaint filed: may 23, 2024.

A woman named April Lampros filed a civil suit accusing Combs of drugging and sexually assaulting her after she met him more than 20 years ago, while she was a student in New York City.

Lampros claimed that she met Combs in 1994 while studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and he had made promises of helping her career and "love-bombed" her with gifts and flowers, including a picture of one Valentine's Day card, signed with "love" from "Puffy."

But what were "kind gestures quickly turned into an aggressive, coercive, and abusive relationship based on sex," the suit alleged, adding that Lampros was "in fear of him" and that "throughout the years" there were "four terrifying sexual encounters," including allegedly being assaulted by the hip-hop mogul, and including one where she was forced to take ecstasy and have sex with Combs’ former girlfriend Kim Porter.

Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith

Complaint filed: june 10, 2024.

A Michigan inmate claims Combs drugged and sexually assaulted him at a party in Detroit in June 1997. Cardello-Smith says he met Combs while he was working as a bartender, and was invited to a party where he drank with Combs and some women and they all later engaged in group sex.

The suit claims Combs offered Cardello-Smith a drink that, he believes, was spiked, that he passed out, and woke up to Combs having anal sex with a woman and telling him, "I did this to you too." Then checking himself in the bathroom, Cardello-Smith alleges he found himself bleeding.

In early September, Cardello-Smith was awarded a $100 million default judgement -- a judgement made when a party fails to take action, either by not responding to a summons or failure to appear in court -- but just a few days later, Combs' lawyers fought back seeking to set aside the judgement, saying Combs was never informed of the suit and only learned of it through the media. The lawyer said the allegations are "incoherent" and "unbelievable."

Adria English

Complaint filed: july 3, 2024.

A former adult film actress Adria English file a suit accusing Combs of sex trafficking and also naming a woman accused of being to Combs what Ghislaine Maxwell was to Jeffrey Epstein.

English alleged that she met Combs while she was working as a dancer at the Hustler club in New York in the early 2000s, and her then-boyfriend, an aspiring model, auditioned for Sean John, a company run by Combs, and was told he could work if English agreed to dance at parties Diddy hosted in the Hamptons and in Miami.

But she "did not agree to a lifetime of aftermath of being used as a sexual pawn for the pleasure and financial benefit of others," the lawsuit said.

English said she was "forced" to drink alcohol and consume drugs and then "passed off" to be sexually assaulted, and "specifically, from 2004-2009, [English] was sex trafficked" by Combs and others.

English said she "has lived her adult life with the memories of being trapped in a cycle of sex trafficking she never asked to be a part of and was chosen because Defendant Combs knew he could groom her." The suit also named Tamiko Thomas, a woman accused of facilitating Diddy's alleged sex trafficking operation. The woman identified as Thomas, for her part, has denied what she calls English's "false accusations and ensures that she is the wrong ‘Tamiko.’" adding she has "no affiliation with Adria English or Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs," has "never met Ms. English and has never had any prior encounters with Ms. English."

In a statement Jonathan Davis, attorney for Combs, said, “No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won't change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone. We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason and without any proof. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail against these and other baseless claims in court.”

In mid-August, English filed a police report with Miami Beach human trafficking detectives regarding what she alleged happened to her at Combs' hands and direction in Florida.

In that police report, English said that "around 2007 while working as an entertainer" at one of Combs' White Parties "she felt obligated to engage in sexual intercourse with three different men" and "believed she would be compensated for her services but was not."

That case narrative, however, alleges her relationship with Combs was from 2004-2008, and some of the language appears to characterize the allegations differently than her civil complaint, which alleges Combs "forced" her "to engage in prostitution and sex work at his homes," including at his residence on Miami Beach’s famous enclave of Star Island, that he "caused" her "to engage in commercial sex acts in the United States cities of Miami and New York by means of force, threats or force, fraud and coercion, and a combination of such means."

The police report notes the Miami Beach human trafficking detectives "will confer with federal investigators" about the allegations.

Dawn Richard

Complaint filed: sept. 10, 2024.

A former bandmate of Combs has accused him of terrorizing and sexually abusing her in a lawsuit that also alleged she witnessed him beating his ex-girlfriend, Cassie.

Dawn Richard, a member of Combs' Danity Kane, said in her lawsuit that on numerous occasions she witnessed Combs “brutally beat” his girlfriend, "persistent abuse included choking and strangling Ms. Ventura, striking her with his hands and with objects, slapping her, punching her, and throwing items at her, including a scalding hot pan,” the lawsuit said.

“On many occasions, Ms. Richard tried to intervene, offering Ms. Ventura support and encouragement to leave Mr. Combs. Each time, Mr. Combs learned of her efforts to help Ms. Ventura and became enraged, threatening Ms. Richard’s life with statements such as ‘you want to die today,’ ‘I make n----- go missing’ and ‘I end people.’”

Richard accused Diddy of exploiting her while withholding her earnings, stealing her copyrighted works and subjecting her to “years of inhumane working conditions which included groping, assault, and false imprisonment, among other violations.” The suit also cited work the two did together on MTV’s Making the Band 3 and 4, when it alleged “Mr. Combs deprived Ms. Richard and her Danity Kane bandmates of basic needs such as adequate food and sleep. When Ms. Richard or her Danity Kane bandmates requested meals or rest, Mr. Combs refused and chastised them with derogatory comments like ‘you b**ches don’t want this’ or ‘y’all are not hungry enough’ and ‘I’m paying you b**ches to work.’”

Combs denied the “series of false claims” in Richard’s lawsuit in a statement provided by his attorney, according to the Washington Post.
