I had the pleasure of assisting my client to tennis lessons with Tennis Pro Calvin Dees during the 2023 summer season- I was nothing but impressed by every person/employee I encountered three times a week for 10 weeks- the grounds were kept beautifully- a cart was ready and waiting for us each time we arrived- the courts were immaculate- the Tennis Pro was always considerate and gracious even when it was us that cancelled at last moment- I am thoroughly impressed with the CheQuessett Country Club.

My husband and I just drove through Friday night Cape traffic to play 9 holes here. We called ahead to make sure they'd be open. When we arrived we were told they don't let carts out after 5 pm. My husband is on dialysis and the only way he can play is with a cart. It would have been nice if they had mentioned it on the phone when we called. When it stays light out until 9:00 it's ridiculous that they don't let carts out after 5:00. Just one cart rental would pay the young workers hourly wage to stay open for 2 more hours. Imagine if they rented 10 more carts?? So frustrated. What a terrible policy! So they'd rather their guests walk the course in 80 degree temperatures than make money. It doesn't make any sense to me. I won't be back

I played a round of golf here over the weekend with my family and we all loved it! The views here are stunning and the staff was extremely helpful, especially one of the employees named Nick. He made us feel like home there, and was attentive to all of our needs. Without a doubt, I will definitely be coming here again.

This was a delightful 9 hole game. The staff were very kind to this out of towner. I was playing as a walk in single and they got me out right away. The price was fair and the course conditions were good overall. And then, the views from several of the elevated tees. Just fabulous. I will be back.

This update is a response to Barbara (General Manager): That was a very well written & creative response, Barbara. However, I ask readers to consider what we have to gain by lying about our experience at CYCC given the day is over and paid for and we will never be returning there? Barbara, however, has a lot of good reasons fabricate a defense of her business and her wife, Tia. Our hope in writing the review was to encourage other couples to proceed with extreme caution when considering CYCC.

This review recently appeared, and was subsequently removed, from The Knot website (something they rarely do) after we provided facts to dispute the many untruths listed in this post. As it now has reappeared here, we are providing our original response below: Lexi, I am sorry to see your review about your wedding day and would have hoped you would have contacted me long before now with any concerns you had. Since you have decided to publicly state such false misrepresentations about CYCC, I feel I must respond. I find your comments about Tia (who has worked in the position of Events Director for four seasons now) to be most puzzling as she made many extra efforts on your wedding party's behalf, from moving boats and allowing your food truck to park and hook up to our electricity overnight, to leaving our office air conditioning on overnight to allow you to leave your flowers in our facilities. The day of your wedding, she and two of our staff even went so far as to build you a Chuppah 10 minutes before your ceremony began out of oars and a tablecloth when the one you rented did not arrive. In fact, when I arrived after your ceremony and saw you standing outside, you gushed about how Tia and our staff had "saved" your wedding with their quick thinking and how much you loved the Chuppah they had put together on your behalf. As to your wedding ring, during our conversation you also praised Tia's decision to keep our staff out of the boathouse while your wedding party looked for your ring. (We normally help as much as we can with any last minute issues, but with something as delicate as a missing ring; our policy is to pull our staff out of the building, to avoid the very thing you are now accusing them of.) As the ring was later found inside the boathouse, and my staff was outside of the boathouse when it was found, I will leave it at that. As we well know, many things get misplaced in the nervous moments before ceremonies; from shoes, to flowers, to rings. I am not sure there was blame to be placed on anyone as it was found under a table, if I remember correctly. I will also point out, on my staff's behalf, that four of us stayed an hour longer than normal after the event helping your brother pack up two carloads of decorations and gifts on their own volition as it had started to rain. Something none of them had to do. As you stated when you came to my office over a week after your wedding, "Your day and the venue were wonderful" and there were no complaints at all with my staff. Your only questions and comments were about the bar bill which leads me to believe that your dissatisfaction stems mainly from the fact that it was higher than you expected. We caution all of our wedding parties about the downsides of "open" bars and that guests sometimes tend to drink more than they normally would, lose drinks, or try cocktails they normally wouldn't try. In our efforts to help wedding parties control costs we give them a host of options from not including top shelf liquors, opting for a cash bar, or having a limited open bar. None of these suggestions were chosen by you for your bar. I will refer briefly back to an email I sent your mother explaining the bar bill to her. There were many guests drinking top shelf liquor, there was a champagne toast, and there were also people attempting to drink alcohol they brought on premise (a direct violation of MA liquor laws). I mention these things once again to show that people were obviously drinking in different patterns than they may normally do, and these actions, along with a toast, add up quickly. I will also note, as I did before, the tabulation sheets and invoice were presented to the paying party. He chose not to look at the tabulation sheets or take a copy with him when asked. As we did not hear from anyone from the wedding party for over a week, I recycled the tabulation sheets as I routinely do. It is unfortunate that people drank more than you expected, and I understand your dismay regarding this, but I am bound by my fiscal responsibilities to the club and by MA liquor laws to charge for the amounts consumed, which I did. As I have stated previously, nothing more than what was consumed was charged, but nothing less either. As always, I can be contacted at the phone number on your contract, the website, and on your invoice which is 508-349-3704 ext. 5. My email is [email protected]. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you would like to discuss this further. We have 30 weddings booked for this season and 6 already booked for 2017. This winter Tia and I both worked with a great custom awning business out of Boston and have designed a custom boathouse awning that is being built as we speak! This will allow our guests to enjoy even more protection from the sun and any worries about inclement weather while taking in the amazing view of the harbor. We are looking forward to a wonderful wedding season here at CYCC.

We were married in the Boathouse at Chequessett in June, 2015. When we first visited Chequesstt, we toured their beach and boathouse with General Manager, Barbara and were instantly in love with the picturesque views of Wellfleet Harbor. However, this was where our good experience ended. After signing the contract, we were told our contact person would be their new event director Tia- this was her first season. Tia proved to be rude, difficult to deal with and down right impossible to get in touch with until a few weeks before our actual wedding. When we approached Barbara with our concerns, we learned that Tia was actually her wife and so our complaints fell on deaf ears. We had a beautiful wedding but it was riddled with drama because of the CYCC staff. Hours before our ceremony was slated to begin, my husband and I were in the boathouse having photos taken with our photographer (the only other people there were our best man, maid of honor, parents, and the CYCC staff) when we discovered that my wedding band had been STOLEN from my bag. We, of course, were panicked and devastated. The staff didn't seem fazed at all; no one said anything or even stopped what they were doing to help us as we ransacked the boathouse looking for it. It was only after my father loudly announced that he would be calling the cops, that the ring mysteriously appeared under a table (of course, we had emptied the room of all tables during the 45 minute search). It was obviously placed there by the thief who had a change of heart. We cannot say with certainty that it was a CYCC staff member, but I think it is fair to say it wasn't our dearest family and friends. And the drama did not end there. One of CYCC's policies, is that the bar tab be paid at the conclusion of the wedding (a common practice, I think). We asked my brother to take on that responsibility so that we would not have to interrupt our celebration for business. The next day he informed us of the amount and we were astonished. Although the bar tab would appear fitting for a wedding of 50 moderate to heavy drinkers, ours was unique in that we have a lot of friends/family who do not drink- in fact, only 30 of our guests drink. In order for the bar tab to have been accurate, each of those 30 people would have had to drink 10 drinks! We assumed it was a simple mistake and attempted to contact Chequessett. As usual, they were impossible to get a hold of. So much so, that we had to drive to the venue to confront them. When we expressed our concerns, we were told it was not an unusual amount for a 50 person wedding. Barbara did not seem to grasp that it was a 30 person wedding for all intents and purposes. She even went so far as to say she didn't believe only 30 people drank (a huge insult since most of the 20 who didn't are in recovery). When we asked to see an itemized bill, they conveniently said they had already disposed of it (even though the wedding was only days before and the list was never offered to my brother when he paid the bill). All in all, it was a miracle that we had such a fantastic wedding. Wellfleet is beautiful and Chequessett is one of very few venues if you're set on a wedding there. We believe they take advantage of that fact and of the beauty of their location to provide inferior service and immoral business practices. We gave them 1 star because the venue is truly breath taking. But, if we had to do it over again, we would never trust any of their staff and probably would have picked a different venue.

All in all a well maintained course. The course is extremely short though, making for many short approaches. Only a couple holes where you can freely hit he driver. I was hoping for a better practice green. It was very small without much slope. Unfortunately the day I went was rainy and windy. I was told that the wind is typically twice as strong as most other places in the area so be weary about playing on an already windy day. The staff was friendly and I would recommend the course if you can find some specials. I think the typical greens fees are a little steep.
