Gabriela Barragan From Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Everything We Know

of Gabriela Barragan From Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Everything We Know

Bravo’s ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ revolves around the crew of a luxury yacht during the charter season as they cater to demanding guests, deal with everyday drama and engage in steamy romances all in the middle of the sea. Viewers get to follow the crew as they go about their daily lives and even get to witness the work that goes behind a successful voyage. Gabriela Barragan shot into the limelight with her appearance on ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ season 3. As with most new faces on reality TV, fans have been quite curious about the new second steward, and here’s everything we know about her.

Gabriela Barragan’s Age and Background

Born to interracial parents, Benito Navarro Barragán and his wife, Gabriela Barragan, 34, is the new second stew onboard Parsifal III. Although the reality star hasn’t revealed her ethnicity as of yet, she appears to be of African-American and Mexican descent. From the looks of it, Gabriela is quite close to her family and loves making memories with her loved ones. She even holds her parents responsible for her success and enjoys prioritizing her familial bond over everything else.

Unfortunately, Gabriela lost her father in 2007 , which affected her quite a bit. However, Gabriela cherishes the time she spent with her father and keeps his memory alive through heartwarming posts on social media. While growing up, Gabriella shared her parents with an elder brother, Benito Jr, with whom she had an incredible bond. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Benito Jr. also passed away in 2016 , leaving Gabriella reminiscing about their memories together.

Gabriela Barragan’s Profession

Interestingly, Gabriela has no background in the yachting industry as she grew up in a place where the activity wasn’t that prevalent. However, the reality TV star came across a stewardess job while searching for ways to earn money while traveling the world. She immediately knew that this profession was tailor-made for her and wasted no time getting acquainted with the field. Additionally, Gabriella even mentioned how ‘ Below Deck ‘ sold her on the idea of pursuing a career as a stewardess as she is an enormous fan of the show and was impressed with the way the crew handled themselves on the yacht.

Before getting an opportunity to appear on ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht,’ Gabriella worked on several other yachts in order to gain some much-needed first-hand experience. Apart from being a stewardess, she has experience as a deckhand and appears to have worked on several yachts in Spain. Besides, Gabriela is also an advocate for Diversity in Yachting, and we are sure her career will witness even more success in the coming years.

Is Gabriela Barragan Dating Anyone?

Gabriela Barragan prefers to keep her dating life under a cloud of mystery and hasn’t revealed much about a supposed romantic partner. Although she loves documenting her traveling experiences and the memories she makes with friends and family on social media, the absence of a special someone is unmistakable. Thus, from the looks of it, Gabriela is still single and diverting all her attention towards her promising career and newfound reality TV fame.

[SPOILER] Quit on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3 Following a Contentious Crew Day Out

Shannon Raphael - Author

Published April 26 2022, 3:21 p.m. ET

The cast of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the April 25 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3.

Though Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been on the air since 2020, the third season of the Bravo spin-off series is filled with firsts.

From the first-ever firing in the show's history thanks to Tom Pearson' s slip-up during his night anchor watch shift (Season 1 deckhand Parker McCown technically quit before Captain Glenn Shephard had the chance to let him go), to a complicated love situation involving five crew members , to a mid-season resignation, the drama keeps on coming for the crew members on board Parsifal III.

On the April 25 episode of the Below Deck spin-off, Gabriela Barragan decided to quit the boat.

Gabriela Barragan

Throughout the charter season, the second stew clashed with Chef Marcos Spaziani, and with third stew Ashley Marti.

After the crew took a day off in between charters to spend some time in a luxury villa, Gabriela's issues with her fellow crewmates came to a head. The day after the excursion, she packed her bags for good.

Why did Gabriela quit Below Deck Sailing Yacht, and what is she up to now? Read on to find out. Plus, keep reading to learn which Below Deck alum she is currently dating.

Why did Gabriela Barragan quit the boat on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3?

Though Captain Glenn initially arranged the crew day out so the yachties could unwind in between charters, there were plenty of tense moments along the way that affected the dynamic among all of the crew members.

After a particularly intense discussion in the pool between Gabriela and Chef Marcos, the second stew felt like none of her fellow crewmates were in her corner. Once they all returned to Parsifal III later that night, the second stew continued to feel isolated from her co-workers.

Following an emotional phone call with a friend, Gabriela realized that she was dealing with a lot. She shared that she was disappointed with her actions (and with her reactions).

Gabriela decided to put herself and her mental health first by quitting the vessel. The day after the villa drama happened, Gabriela told Captain Glenn that she wanted to resign immediately.

When Andy Cohen asked if Gabriela still felt like she made the "right call" to quit during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live on April 25, the San Diego native responded "Absolutely."

"I definitely think I made the right decision," she shared. "And Captain Glenn was super supportive on my way out, so I really appreciate that."

What is Gabriela Barragan up to now? She's dating 'Below Deck' alum Wes O'Dell!

Gabriela may now be done with her time on Parsifal III , but she isn't fully removed from the Below Deck universe. The Season 3 alum is now working as a first mate on a boat in St. Thomas, and she's currently dating one of her co-workers: Wes O'Dell.

Below Deck fans will likely remember that Wes was a deckhand on My Seanna during Season 9 of the hit Bravo series. Gabriela confirmed her romance with the Season 9 star during an appearance on the Gangplank Report podcast (per Us Weekly ).

"Wes and I are dating. We've been dating for a couple of months..." Gabriela said on the podcast. "Going back to like surrounding yourself with good people, I don't think I've had a boyfriend quite as kind and patient and loving as Wes. So it's new for me because obviously, you guys see how chaotic I am and how intense I am. So being in a normal, healthy relationship — I'm, like, uncomfortable in normalcy, I guess."

Who is Gabriela's replacement on Parsifal III? Meet Scarlett Bentley.

Though Daisy and Ashley will briefly be short-handed be on the interior team following Gabriela's exit, the two won't have to wait as long as the deck team did for their replacement.

Fellow San Diego resident Scarlett Bentley is set to join the crew for the remainder of the charter season. When she's not working on yachts, the University of Arkansas alum is an active content creator.

Scarlett Bentley

New episodes of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. You can also stream the series on Peacock (episodes debut on the streamer a week after they air on Bravo).

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Sneak Peek: Gabriela Confronts Ashley Over Lazy Work (Exclusive)

Gabriela Barragan vents her frustrations on Below Deck Sailing Yacht

It's the war of the stews on 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht,' as Gabriela and Ashley battle to be Daisy's second in command.

Gabriela Barragan and Ashley Marti are rocking the boat on  Below Deck Sailing Yacht . Daisy Kelliher 's stewardesses just can't seem to get along -- and ET has your exclusive first look at their battle for that "second stew" title.

Ashley sits with Daisy up in the crew mess, helping her plan out table-scapes and party themes while Gabriela toils away cleaning... annoyed that Ashley has seemingly not pitched in at all, despite getting a to-do list from Gabriela (who currently holds the title of "second stew").

"She's kissing a** right now because she wants to be second stew," Gabriela mutters under her breath, as she surveys the damage done by guests that Ashley has yet to attend to: glasses strewn about, cigarette butts and more. "I'm f**king annoyed. I'm pissed ! I'm pissed. I'm f**king pissed."

After starting to pick up Ashley's slack, Gabriela marches downstairs to confront her. She comes in hot to the literal mess, asking, "Hey, Ashley, just out of curiosity, how far down the list did you get?"

"So, putting things away, tidying the bar, that was just totally, like, not important at all?" Gabriela continues, eliciting a string of, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa," from Daisy.

"Am I being b***hy?" Gabriela asks, as Ashley shyly defends herself, noting she's been helping Daisy.

"It's fine," Daisy tells Gabriela. "The boat's looking fine. We have tomorrow, loads of time tomorrow."

"I'm really hoping that they can tell, I'm really f**king-- I don't want to hear it," she goes on to remark in a confessional. "I have so much to deal with. Those two girls having an ego trip, no, no, no. They better find a way to work with each other."

Watch it all play out here:

After being told by Daisy to essentially shut it down, Gabriela pulls First Officer Gary King aside to ask his advice for dealing with "someone who doesn't do what you ask them to do."

"I think she's trying to make me look bad at this point," she tells him, noting that Ashley is gunning to take over Gabriela's position.

Ahead of the season premiere, Daisy confessed to ET that managing Gabriela and Ashley's dynamic was the hardest part of her charter season.

"My relationship with my stews was a bit harder, that was more of a challenge for me," Daisy said. "I loved my stewardesses -- they were amazing -- but it was just something that I hadn't experienced before."

"I'm used to my relationship with Dani [Soares] and Alli [Dore] ," Daisy continued, shouting out her team from season 2. "This was definitely a bit more of a challenge. I don't think the girls were as close with each other as maybe Dani and Alli, so it was me managing that, which was, yeah, a challenge."

"It was just 'mom Daisy' walking around being like, 'Don't do that. Put that down. Go to bed,'" she added. "I did relax a bit more because I was like, 'You know what, if the boys don't want to help me, that's on them this year. I'm not going to stress myself out the way I did last year...' So I was a bit more relaxed in a sense, but yeah, I'm always going to be the mom of the group. That's just my role."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht   airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo, streaming next day on Peacock.

Gabriela Barragan reveals producers ‘broke the fourth wall’ on Below Deck Sailing Yacht for consent concerns

Gabriela Barragan on BDS Season 3

Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum Gabriela Barragan has opened up about the many times that producers stepped in during her season of the Below Deck spin-off.

Gabriela was a one-and-done with Below Deck Sailing Yacht appearing on Season 3.

After recent episodes of Below Deck Down Under, Gabriela has spoken out more about her season of the hit sailing show.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne were fired by Captain Jason Chambers for sexual misconduct incidents and inappropriate behavior.

As Monsters and Critics previously reported , several Below Deck stars have spoken out on the hot topic. Gabriela is one of them as she shed some light on what fans didn’t know about her season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Gabriela Barragan reveals producers ‘broke the fourth wall’ on Below Deck Sailing Yacht

While speaking with Us Weekly to discuss the recent Below Deck Down Under episodes, Gabriela got real about her reality TV experience. Gabriela admitted that producers “broke the fourth wall” numerous times out of consent concerns.

She shared producers “had a hard time deciphering what was consent and what wasn’t, especially when alcohol was involved.” They didn’t step in simply because of crew members hooking up either but for fighting too.

“It wasn’t just the bed jumping thing [during my season]. It was the fighting, the arguments people were getting into when we were drunk. It was having a mental breakdown, crying hysterically. They did step in and say, ‘Hey, cut it out, go to bed, bye,'” she expressed.

Although producers didn’t want to break the fourth wall, Gabriela revealed she was told that it was necessary for ethical reasons, safety concerns, and protection for all parties involved, including Bravo.

Gabriela Barragan talks Below Deck Down Under incidents

Aside from speaking out about her season, Gabriela also gave a shout-out to Captain Jason for his quick thinking to keep the yacht a safe environment. Gabriela knows that’s not always the case.

The yachtie also shared her discontent with Laura victim-shaming Margot Sisson and defending Luke’s actions. Laura continues to stand by her behavior and Luke’s, too, blaming it all on editing and reality TV.

Gabriela gave mad props to the Northern Sun crew for banning together to support Margot on and off-screen.

“It was really touching, it was [a] beautiful episode at the end showing the camaraderie and the way they treated Margot. It was a rollercoaster of emotions in that episode. It was rage and being triggered and then feeling good somehow. There are good people out there,” Gabriela shared with the weekly magazine.

Captain Jason Chambers and Aesha Scott have been praised for how they handled the situation, something Gabriela Barragan also agrees with.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Charter Guest Addresses His Comments to Gabriela Barragan

See what happened after the stew shut down an "inappropriate" conversation in this preview of the February 28 episode.

below deck yacht gabriela

Season 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht got off to an uncomfortable start for new stew Gabriela Barragan .

How to Watch

Watch Below Deck Sailing Yacht on Peacock and the Bravo app .

As the first group of charter guests enjoyed their first night aboard the Parsifal III , Gabriela found herself trying to get primary charter guest McCordia to bed after some of his comments toward her were "getting a little inappropriate," as the second stew put it in the episode. "In my 10 years of high-end bartending, if I know how to do anything, it's how to talk to drunk people, how to tell them to f--k off super politely," Gabriela says as we see the continuation of her interactions with McCordia in the above first look at the upcoming February 28 episode, exclusive to Bravo Insider members.

You can see in the above clip how Gabriela finally gets McCordia to go to bed, at which point all she can say is, "That was f--king weird."

The next morning, McCordia approaches Gabriela and apologizes for his actions the night before. "I hope I didn't offend you last night," he tells the second stew, who replies, "No, I mean, you did not offend me. You know, when I was like, 'Hey, let's keep it professional,' you did. It's all I asked. Thank you for bringing it up."

Meet Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3's New Crew Members

Besides, Gabriela noted to the primary that she has, unfortunately, experienced worse in her career. "I used to bartend at a strip club in Miami," she says. "You are nothing compared to what I've seen and dealt with, OK?"

Check out the Bravo Insider clip, above, to see more of what's coming up in the next episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , including Daisy Kelliher 's reaction to that charter guest moment, the tension building in the interior, and how the Parsifal III crew is feeling heading into their first night out.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Gabriela Barragan On The Hardest Parts Of Her Job - Exclusive

Gabriela Barragan smiling

Bravo's hit reality TV show, "Below Deck Sailing Yacht," follows the crew of the Parsifal III as they serve guests throughout the charter season. While the wealthy guests enjoy a fabulous getaway, the cameras take viewers behind the scenes to see the messy power dynamics and relationship dramas between crew members.

With Season 3 now airing, Gabriela Barragan had an exclusive interview with The List to discuss what it's really like being on the show. Barragan just joined the show as a stewardess this year. However, she has plenty of experience as a bartender and a yachtie. While talking to The List, the seasoned stew shared what the most challenging aspect of her job is. Her honest answer may surprise you. Barragan also opened up about how having cameras on the yacht can make the crew members' jobs more difficult and how she deals with guests who behave inappropriately towards her.

The most difficult thing working on a yacht

(L-R) Ashley Marti, Gabriela Barragan, Daisy Kelliher, Keslie Goglia

Although there are a lot of expectations that come with being a stewardess (or stew) on Parsifal III, Gabriela Barragan said she doesn't struggle with that. As far as the daily tasks to keep things running smoothly, they're a "piece of cake" for her. The most difficult part of her job is actually maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships with all the crew members. They're all living in very close quarters on the boat, which she said can make it a "Petri dish for drama."

Barragan explained, "time moves differently on yachts ... You've seen everyone at their best and at their worst in a short amount of time because it's a high-pressure environment. You make friendships quicker. You fall in love quicker. You hate people quicker than you normally would." In such a high-pressure environment where emotions can easily boil over, it's crucial to communicate clearly and keep the crew working well together. While "Below Deck Sailing Yacht," viewers know that there's frequently drama between crew members; Barragan said it's important to deal with those issues quickly. "If there's a problem, you have to talk about it immediately and squash it because tensions build and rise and then explode, and it's not good for anybody. That's the hardest part," she said.

When guests behave inappropriately

Gabriela poses on bench

Unfortunately, another challenge Gabriela Barragan faces is when yacht guests behave inappropriately. Though airing out issues is important with crew members, when it comes to their guests, they always try to stay professional and friendly. This becomes more difficult when somebody starts crossing one of the crew members' boundaries. In Season 3, Episode 1, there was an upsetting scene when one of the guests crossed Barragan's boundaries by asking inappropriate questions.

Watching the clip back, Barragan said she could see where her body language changed. "I look deflated, and I'm completely exhausted and over this conversation." However, because she was dealing with a guest, Barragan still needed to stay polite. "The guests shouldn't be able to tell what any of the yacht crew is feeling," she said. So, instead, she shut the conversation down with a careful balance of politeness and firmness. "It's really difficult being sexually harassed ... I feel like, again, all of my experience, in my careers before yachting, came out and like really took care of me ... It was 15 years of experience before this, naturally like, 'Okay, sir, now you're crossing the line. You need to go to bed.' It was very easy for me to do that, despite how uncomfortable I was," Barragan said.

If you or anyone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available. Visit the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network website or contact RAINN's National Helpline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).

Did having a camera crew make her job harder?

Gabriela Barragan on a boat

According to Gabriela Barragan, being filmed didn't change the way she operated too much. She said the work and the crew's social interactions were the same as they would have been with or without being filmed . "There was a little bit of pressure to do my job extra well because there's an audience watching back home," she said. "I wanted to represent all the boats I have worked on really well and all of the Chief Stews that I've come across during my career. I wanted to make yachties watching proud."

Other than that, the only difficulty Barragan mentioned was the camera crew making already cramped spaces even tighter. She said this was mostly a problem in the hallways and crew quarters. "In our cabins, when Ashley and I are talking while we're getting ready, and then a camera guy comes in out of nowhere ... It's three of us in this tiny cabin and a huge camera," Barragan said. "That was interesting."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gabriela Barragan Quits Show and Explains Why, Plus Confirms She’s Dating Below Deck Alum Wes O’Dell, See Pics

On Monday night’s Below Deck episode, things went from bad to worse as crew member Gabriela Barragan finally hit her limit with the rest of the cast and made the decision to leave Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

Things have been contentious, to say the least, all season long between Gabriela and fellow stew Ashley Marti. The two constantly passive-aggressively bickered and never saw eye to eye.

On the latest episode, fans saw Gabriela truly cross the line with Chef Marco Spaziani , who she consistently mocked.

Per ShowBiz Cheatsheet , Gabriela is speaking out about her issues with the Parsifal III on the Gangplank Report podcast.

Throughout the season, Gabriela has voiced how she never felt “part of the group” and described the work environment as “uncomfortable.” She also felt that her enemy Ashley was “poisoning” her against the rest of the cast.

“I had no idea she was poisoning the well and getting in everyone’s ear and changing their perceptions of me,” she said. “Which explains why some of them weren’t really giving me a chance or trying to get to know me, because it seems like they were all pretty much listening to her. And no one came to me to see my side.”

Gabriela is mature enough to take responsibility for her part in how her journey on the show ended, saying she regretted they saw her “drunk and ugly side.”

She also said she felt that the crew “broke her spirit,” which led to her decision to take time to work on herself and take time to self-reflect on her issues.

“They broke my spirit,” she said. “And I disappointed myself and let myself down. And I just felt like I’m better than this.”

However, as the saying goes, when one door closes…

Gabriela has happily confirmed that since her exit from the show, she and Below Deck alum Wes O’Dell are dating!

Wes also appeared alongside Gabriela on the Gangplank Report podcast, where the two confirmed their relationship. Gabriela had nothing but sweet things to about her new beau, calling him “her biggest supporter.”

Per Monsters and Critics , Gabriela told the podcast, “Wes and I are dating. We’ve been dating for a couple of months. And it was really cute in St. Thomas they wear these bangle bracelets. It has like a little horseshoe on it or like a hook. And if it’s facing outward, it means you’re open. And if it’s facing the other way, it means that you’re taken. So when he gave me the bracelet, he put it on me with the horseshoe, meaning closed. And I looked at him like, ‘Oh!’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah.’ I was like, ‘Awww.'”

“Going back to like surrounding yourself with good people, I don’t think I’ve had a boyfriend quite as kind and patient and loving as Wes,” she expressed. “It’s new for me because obviously, you guys see how chaotic I am and how intense I am. So being in a normal, healthy relationship, I’m like uncomfortable in normalcy, I guess. So, he’s working with me, and I couldn’t appreciate it more. Not just about the stuff about the show but advancing my career.”

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently airing Monday nights at 8 p.m. EST on Bravo.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gabriela barragan second stew

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Recap: Goodbye, Gabriela

By Glenn Rowley

Well, so much for that clean slate. This week’s episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht was all about Gabriela Barragan and the downward spiral she just couldn’t get out of. The second stew started the hour in tears. And ended the hour walking down the dock and off the show. She just couldn’t get it together. But to be honest, after watching the episode, I’m kind of left wondering what the big deal was? Am I the only one?

It was all supposed to be so much more fun than this. After all, there wasn’t even an actual charter in this week’s episode! But it was just proof that a bad attitude can ruin just about anything. On their night out, Captain Glenn Shephard organized a dinner ashore for the crew at La Caprichosa Pizzeria. But almost as soon as everyone sits down, the table nearly clears out, leaving Gabriela alone with Colin Macrae . The chief engineer attempts to give the stew a pep talk of sorts, but even he has to admit that sometimes, her sourpuss outlook when she’s not at her best. It’s basically the same criticism she heard from Daisy Kelliher last week, but it doesn’t seem to be making a difference yet.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gary king ashley marti hook up hot tub makeout colin macrae gabriela barragan

The crew heads back to the boat, where half go to bed and half keep the party going. The latter half mostly being Gary King and Ashley Marti , who head to the hot tub together. Before you know it, and despite the third stew’s insistence that she’s not interested, the two are making out. Ashley’s straddling him. And it’s all in full view of both Colin and Gabriela — the former of whom simply can’t understand the magic spell his best bud seemingly puts on every female onboard Parsifal.

Of course, the sexual tension between Gary and Ashley can’t help but escalate. And soon enough, the pair sneak downstairs to a guest cabin for what is, ostensibly, supposed to be a back massage. But subtitles give away what’s really happening behind closed doors. Which, apparently, is drunken nudity and some form of intercourse. Except halfway through getting it on, Gary balks at what he’s doing and retreats to his cabin, leaving Ashley to slink back to bed by herself.

The next day is supposed to be even more fun…because it’s the crew’s day off! But everyone partied so hard the night before that the morning gets off to a bit of a rough start. Like  Kelsie Goglia fully passing out in her cabin in search of her elusive water bottle. And then there’s Gary , who claims he can’t remember anything that happened the night before with Ashley . Not the massage(s). Not the strip-down in the cabin. And certainly not anything sexual. Not even an awkward conversation with the stew can jog his memory, which…doesn’t bode particularly well for their sexual chemistry. Right?

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gabriela barragan day off

For their long-awaited, and much-needed, day off, Captain Glenn has gifted the crew with a fancy villa all to themselves. The views from the vacation rental at Cala Llonga Resort are unquestionably spectacular. But as always, the alcohol gets flowing and the drama kicks off. Ashley decides to put Gary on blast and claims in front of the whole group that she gave him a blowjob the night before. Gary doesn’t know what to believe. Because, well, you’d think he would remember that. So, that’s…awkward.

The rest of the day is wiled away by the pool, in the pool and around the pool. And Gabriela ‘s determined to have a good time. There’s more drinking. Some harmless joking. Then the joking turns pointed. Gabriela starts irritating Chef Marcos Spaziani by imitating his Venezuelan accent and apparent  penchant for name-dropping his home country. As a political refugee who hasn’t been back to Venezuela or seen his family in years, it’s a pretty low blow. But something tells me Gabriela wasn’t thinking about any of that as she tried to poke fun at him.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 chef marcos spaziani vs gabriela barragan

Then, when Marcos is already annoyed, things manage to get worse. He playfully flips over the tube Daisy ‘s floating on, and causes the chief stew’s leg to smack Gabriela right in the face. What could’ve — and probably should’ve — been chalked up to a harmless accident quickly escalates into a war of words between the two. Gabriela thinks the chef wants her to die alone. (That took a weird turn.) But honestly, I’m too distracted by Marcos holding an underwater camera likely handed to him by production to really follow much of the argument. Long story short, it ends with Gabriela storming off and feeling more isolated than ever.

Hours later, there’s still dinner to attend to. And over a large bowl of steaming paella, Marcos and Gabriela manage to call a truce. And even do it in Portuguese, no less! In an attempt to shift the focus off the tension that’s been brewing all day between the chef and the stew, Daisy entertains the table with a hilarious big of Irish dancing. Where was that jig when you had to put together a talent show, Dais? Still, while everything finally appears pleasant enough on the surface, the day off ends with Gabriela officially on the bad side of more than a few of her crew mates by the time they get back to Parsifal.

The following day is a turnover day for the boat. Meaning there’s still 24 hours for the bad blood to fester before guests come aboard. Feeling responsibility as a head of department, Daisy ‘s determined to mitigate the interpersonal drama. But she doesn’t know exactly where to start and dreads being forced to have a talk with Gabriela . Instead, she talks to Captain Glenn , warning him that there are some issues afoot. Without naming names, she promises to handle the personality clash before bringing him into it.

below deck sailing yacht recap season 3 episode 10 gabriela barragan quits confessional

There’s still work to be done, however, and Captain Glenn calls Daisy , Gary and Chef Marcos together for the next preference sheet meeting. All we learn about the new primary is that she’s a cosmetic dermatologist from Greenwich, Connecticut. Oh, and she insists on the entire crew addressing her as “Dr. Kim.” So apparently she thinks she’s the queen of England on top of being a skin doctor. So that should be fun.

Meanwhile, Gabriela woke up with more than a few regrets, and spends much of the day emotionally spiraling. Phoning a friend from home only intensifies the waterworks. And by midday, she asks Captain Glenn if he can talk. Explaining that she’s clearly working through some internal issues, the stew gives her notice and quits on the spot. The funniest part is that Captain Glenn truly has no idea what’s even going on. But he respects Gabriela’s need to put herself first. And even says he’d be more than happy to work with her again. With less than a day before the next charter, the team is now down a stew and  a deckhand. Though from the looks of the midseason trailer, reinforcements are on their way…

TELL US — ARE YOU SURPRISED GABRIELA QUIT? IS ASHLEY BEING HONEST ABOUT HER FAILED HOOKUP WITH GARY? CAN GARY REALLY NOT REMEMBER OR DO YOU THINK HE’S PLAYING DUMB? WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MIDSEASON TRAILER?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Recap: Good-bye, Gabriela

Below deck sailing yacht.

below deck yacht gabriela

Before we get into the entree of this week’s episode, I’d like to serve up an amuse-bouche. While the crew is away, Captain Glenn will play, meaning he will watch an eel documentary in bed while munching on a midnight snack. Meaning that he will call his mom and tell her about his insomnia and dreams about buying donkeys. Meaning that he will nibble on a crunchy cracker in tranquility. Did Bravo reward the crew by granting them access to a villa for the day, or was that simply a ploy to give Captain Glenn some solo R&R that I’m sure is laid out in his contract? Judging from the looks of the next episode, the new deckhand is on his way, which means Captain Glenn will once again have a roommate. I am so proud of our captain for soaking up his solitude while he can. Preserving one’s inner peace is vital for surviving life at sea.

Speaking of preserving one’s inner peace: Gabriela officially disembarks the Parsifal III . I mean, we all saw this coming. We all read the blind items. And yet … I was impressed by Gabriela’s self-awareness throughout this episode (and season!) and disappointed when she sniped at Marcos at the villa. I know she’s better than this.  I was rooting for you ! But after a phone call with a friend — Cookie — she decides enough is enough. And I respect that.

Like, you can’t say that you don’t trust anybody onboard and you refuse to drink with them in one scene and then be chugging Champs straight from the bottle in the next. And Gabriela knows that! Which is why she quit!

It’s not until the last ten minutes that the departure drama unfolds, and it’s actually not dramatic at all. Gabriela asks Captain Glenn for a chat and remains calm and clear throughout their conversation. She is poised and powerful! She has a script, and she’s sticking to it: “I think that I’m not in an environment that’s conducive to my mental well being. I love my job. I love what I do. But I have some work to do with my interpersonal relationships while living and working on a boat, and I know that. But I don’t want to disappoint you or let anybody down. I want to be a part of the crew. I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable around me. I don’t want it to affect them either. I’m feeling like it’s the healthiest thing for me to leave the boat … I don’t want to quit right before a pickup, but I think it’s the best thing for me to do.”

Honestly, I’m going to bookmark this for the next time I quit a job. Captain Glenn is of course beyond understanding. He says he’d normally be disappointed but, under these conditions, Gabriela is making the right decision, and the crew will cope without her.

I feel bad that Gabriela was allegedly forced out, but I am also hopeful that our two new crew members will give us a mid-season revamp. I am so sick and tired of the Gabriela-Marcos bickering and the Gabriela-Ashley-Gary love triangle. And to be clear: I don’t blame Gabriela, even though she’s the common denominator. I would have been more than happy to sub out Ashley for a new stew, for that matter! But we need a fresh face, and as a viewer, I don’t really care how we get it.

On the love triangle front: Gary and Ashley hook up, which I knew was going to happen the second Gary flirts with Daisy on their way to dinner. To recap: Gary tells Daisy her ass looks good in her pants, and Ashley passive-aggressively jabs: “Will you guys just fuck already?” To play my favorite role, armchair psychologist, I think a  lot  of her behavior stems from her rocky relationship with her sister, who, if we believe Ashley, famously went after all Ashley’s crushes and boyfriends in high school. Daisy is her new big sister. Gary is Ashley’s crush. Thank you, Psych 101.

Anyway, Gary, Ashley, and sweet Kelsie share a cab home from dinner, and readers, I got scared for a second. Gary (jokingly? or not?) suggests a threesome, and I was truly scared shitless. I prayed. I said to God: Do not let me witness a threesome between these people! Luckily, all that happens is Ashley flips over the middle row, flashing the camera in the process, and a chaste kiss between Ashley and Kelsie. Back onboard, Gary heads for the hot tub, and Ashley joins him.

Gabriela and Colin shine at this moment. They sit back and observe the trainwreck that is Gary and Ashley. These two are the comedic relief, the narration, the voice of reason.

“Ashley’s desperate for Gary — like, it’s out of control how desperate she is,” Colin says. Gabriela, in an incredible flash of self-awareness, agrees but adds, “I have no place to say anything.” I would watch these two sidebar all night and am bummed we don’t get more of them throughout the season.

A quick digression: Colin is nothing if not consistent. If someone’s hooking up with Gary, Colin’s going to express equal parts shock and awe every time. “It’s seriously like he has this magic wand and he can cast a spell on these girls. He might actually, accidentally, sleep with every girl on this boat without really trying,” he says later in a confessional. To be fair, even Gary is slightly confused by girls who want to sleep with him. At the villa, Gary says to Daisy, “Who would have sex with me on a normal basis? Let alone when I’m paralytically fucked?”

Back to the hookup: Gary leaves in the middle! He just gets up and goes! I almost feel bad for Ashley. He tells Ashley he’ll be right back (he won’t), goes back to his room, and promptly passes out. He remembers none of this in the morning. According to Ashley, and the footage, the two head down to the guest cabins, she gives him a massage, she blows him (?), and the two have sex. As Ashley summarizes the next day, “I gave him an actual back massage … and then somehow his pants came off.” And so it goes!

Will their love saga continue? Well, we get a glimpse of the new stew, Scarlet, and I’m not so sure what will happen to our dear Ashley and Gary. It looks like Scarlet will be giving Ashley a run for her money in the race for Gary, which is objectively a laughable race. Do any of these girls ever pause and think, We’re fighting over Gary?  Who knows. Also giving the crew a run for their money will be next week’s charter guests. In her requests, primary guest Dr. Kim Nichols demands the crew refer to her as “Dr. Nichols” for the duration of the charter. In girlboss we trust!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Gabriela Barragan Felt ‘Triggered’ by ‘Down Under’ Consent Scandal

Gabriela Barragán recently watched the Below Deck Down Under episode that chronicled Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne ’s firings — and was shocked by their behavior.

“My jaw was on the floor. I wish Bravo put a trigger warning at the beginning of the episode,” the Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly on Friday, August 11. “I’m really impressed by producers stepping in [and] the decision to air it as it happened. And Aesha [Scott] and Captain Jason [Chambers] were amazing.”

Gabriela added: “It’s the perfect example of what would happen in a real setting on a yacht on or off the show. Sexual assault in the maritime industry happens all the time.”

During the Monday, August 7, episode of Below Deck Down Under , Luke, 35, climbed naked into passed-out colleague Margot Sisson ’s bed when the boat’s power went out. Producers immediately stepped in after Luke tried to make a move on Margot before Jason, 50, sent him to a hotel. The ship’s captain fired Luke the next day .

Laura, 31, subsequently defended Luke’s actions, which drew criticism from Aesha, 31. The chief stew then told Jason that Laura lacked boundaries with fellow costar Adam Kodra . Adam, 34, confirmed that he felt uncomfortable around Laura, and Jason fired her as well. (Laura has since issued a public apology to both Margot and Adam.)

“It’s hard to feel safe in some environments because of hierarchy. Sometimes people in high ranking positions … there are times when you can be sexually harassed by a superior and there’s no one to go to because of the chain of command and it’s awful,” Gabriela — who appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 — told Us . “And Aesha has had experience, and she could see the red flags and pick up on behavior earlier in the night. I think she had a bad feeling and it seemed she followed her instincts and did the right thing swiftly.”

Gabriela also praised how quickly Jason and the producers stepped in to foster a safe working environment . "There’s zero tolerance and if people are uncomfortable in such small living quarters [where] you don’t feel safe, it needs to be taken care of immediately,” she added. “It doesn’t always happen. … I’m happy that Margot is OK and that most of the crew on board were supportive.”

Gabriela noted that she found the way Laura spoke to Margot about the incident to be “very shocking,” insensitive and disrespectful. “Personally, I thought it was scary because she was shaming the victim to her face when no one else was around,” the Bravo alum, who currently works in yachting in California, told Us . “Margot is still trying to put the pieces together of what happened and have a colleague who is downplaying and minimizing and invalidating it and a woman on top of it.”

Gabriela — who has since reached out to Margot, 28, via social media — felt “really proud” of the whole Down Under team and the producers for how they handled the situation. “It was really touching, it was [a] beautiful episode at the end showing the camaraderie and the way they treated Margot,” Gabriela explained. “It was a rollercoaster of emotions in that episode. It was rage and being triggered and then feeling good somehow. There are good people out there.”

Gabriela was pleased to see Bravo and Jason’s crew handle the scandal with care , and the same happened during her season with producers. “I did end up quitting the show because I didn’t feel supported and not emotionally safe,” she told  Us,  but she claimed that her producers frequently “broke the fourth wall” and stepped into on-camera drama, alleging that they “had a hard time deciphering what was consent and what wasn’t, especially when alcohol was involved.”

She added, “And it wasn’t just the bed jumping thing [during my season]. It was the fighting, the arguments people were getting into when we were drunk. It was having a mental breakdown, crying hysterically. They did step in and say 'Hey, cut it out, go to bed, bye.'

She continued: “I was told that by a producer that they had to decide when to draw the line to protect everybody in a situation. They don’t want break the fourth wall. They want to watch everything play out, but they also have their own ethical code that they have to follow and I’m grateful for that. …. They have to protect the network, they have to protect themselves and they have to protect us.”

Former ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ Stars: Where Are They Now?

Former Below Deck Sailing Yacht Stars Where Are They Now

Offering a glimpse into their lives. Over the years, Bravo viewers have seen Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast members come and go — but not before they brought drama to the high seas.

The spinoff series, which premiered in 2020, shocked viewers when Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux ‘s onscreen fling took a turn once they left Parsifal III . During the season 2 reunion, the second stew revealed that that she was expecting a child — and that her ex-boyfriend was the father.

“Let’s put it this way, This baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy,” Dani said in June 2021. “He hasn’t supported me at all in any way. He thinks it is not his child and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it.”

Jean-Luc, for his part, explained in an individual interview that he wanted a DNA test to confirm the paternity before getting involved. “I want to be there for you,” he explained while recording a message for his former costar during the reunion . “Though you may not want anything to do with me because of me asking you for a paternity test, that’s something that I can get over. But what I can’t get over if this is my child is not being there for her.”

At the time, the deckhand noted that he wanted his relationship with Dani to get to a better place.

“Dani, what we had on the show for me was real. I don’t care what anybody says, even now that we’re going through what we are going through. What I felt for you, and the time that we had, was genuine. Everything that I ever said to you was true,” he added. “The fact that we are at where we are now, I am really sorry and I would assume to say that most of it is my fault.”

Seven months after Dani welcomed her daughter, Jean-Luc confirmed that he was the father . “I’m happy and proud to say sweet and beautiful Lilly Rose is my daughter,” he wrote via Instagram in January 2022. “Dani and I have been working and communicating together to the best of our ability. This is imperative [to work out] for the sake of our daughter as she needs both parents in her life.”

During season 3 of the hit Bravo series, fans focused on the connection between another duo. Gary King and Daisy Kelliher became a topic of conversation after their tumultuous relationship seemingly turned romantic.

“What can I say, I’m not picky when it comes to making out with people. I’ll pretty much make out with anyone,” the chief stew said via Instagram in January 2022 after footage of her making out with Gary was released. “I’m really enjoying how many people’s minds are blown [about Gary]. No one’s mind was more blown than mine the next day. I have no recollection of that kiss.”

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Gary King is going on the record to clarify that the show is definitely not scripted . The news comes in the middle of rumors surrounding producer plants and fake storylines in the Below Deck franchise . However, after his years of experience as a crew member, the reality star can confirm that the drama is as real as it gets.

King recently took to Instagram and answered some fan questions on his story. One of the questions read: “Do the Below Deck producers tell guests to act crazy or are the guests just crazy?” As a response, King denied the rumors and claimed that all guests on the show were actually just crazy.

Another follower asked the reality star whether the producers influenced the drama on the show. Gary replied with a joke saying: “Yeah, they asked us to crash the boat” before clarifying that he was just kidding and that Below Deck Saling Yacht is a completely unscripted show. The yachting industry veteran clarified that the producers let things play out as they are without telling anyone what to do.

'Below Deck' Has Been Accused of Faking Storylines Previously

According to Below Deck executive producers Mark Cronin and Courtland Cox , fans have a huge misconception about the franchise. Cox believes that the viewers don’t understand how real Below Deck is. She added that as producers, his and Cronin’s job is to stay in the background and let things happen. The producer also claimed that the things that actually happen on the show are too wild for anyone to come up with.

Linda P. Jones , who was a guest on Below Deck Season 6, also went on the record to talk about her experience on the show. She took to her personal website and explained that Below Deck is 100 percent real . Jones also spilled the beans on her one-on-one time with Captain Lee and expressed how fascinating it was to hear his stories and ask him questions. She was also all praises for crew members Kate Chastain and Josiah Carter for their professionalism and the five star service they provided to all the guests.

The former guest talked about her time on the yacht and explained how nerve-wracking it is as guests. Jones confessed that while she avoided going down the slide because she didn’t want to be on camera with her makeup smeared and hair wet. She also shared that none of the guests faced any service problems except one night when they didn’t have any bath towels in their rooms. However, she noted that the moment never made it to the show.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 is expected to premiere in Fall 2024. All previous seasons of the show are available to stream on Peacock in the U.S.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been one of the most long-awaited in franchise history, but the show may not return despite previous reports due to Gary King’s poor behavior . The Below Deck franchise has several shows that follow yachties in their lives working aboard luxurious vessels as they take Captain’s orders and serve charter guests. There’s always a layer of drama beneath the surface. From crew to crew, different dynamics become prevalent and create all sorts of issues, from romantic problems to interpersonal squabbles. Below Deck Sailing Yacht has become one of the most interesting Below Deck shows.

Although Below Deck Sailing Yacht has several seasons under its belt, the show has been struggling since its last season. With its last season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 , having come out well over a year ago, many have been wondering where the next season of the series is. Unfortunately, the Parsifal III’s Gary has made some questionable choices in the past. With serious allegations of sexual misconduct coming out after the last season of the series, could be the reason the show is delayed or canceled. After some false hope, could Below Deck Sailing Yacht be gone forever ?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Logo Was Featured In A Bravo Promo

The show was considered dead.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 was considered dead by many fans of the franchise, but there was a bit of hope. When the logo of the series was featured on Bravo, it seemed the already-filmed fifth season could be surfacing soon . In a promo revealing what shows would be coming to the network this fall, Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s logo was prominently featured alongside shows previously confirmed to be coming back by the network. Although there was no formal confirmation from the network about the show, many took the promo as a clear indicator it would be returning.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

While Below Deck Sailing Yacht is one of the more popular series in the franchise, things have been particularly difficult to discuss after Bravo chose to mostly ignore Gary’s sexual misconduct allegations. Many believed that they would just quietly cancel the series rather than address the issues , releasing themselves from the responsibility of dealing with Gary’s behavior . With the promo featuring the Below Deck Sailing Yacht logo, many were shocked to see that the series would likely be returning even after facing such an enormous scandal.

Some Have Noticed The Logo Has Been Removed

It may have been added in error.

While the logo for Below Deck Sailing Yacht was originally in the promo about what was coming to Bravo this fall, some viewers who have seen the promo run since noticed that it’s been removed. Now, a version of the promo without a Below Deck Sailing Yacht logo entirely has been airing on the network, confusing viewers. Many are wondering if the original promo was a mistake, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht isn’t returning at all , while others are assuming it could just mean there’s another delay with the next season of the series.

Could Below Deck Sailing Yacht Be Over?

Gary’s actions changed the trajectory of the series.

Some BDSY viewers are convinced that the series will still be returning at an indeterminate time, but others are certain that Gary’s actions changed the trajectory of the series and it’s now come to an end . While Gary has vehemently denied the allegations against him, some Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers have shared that they believe the victim and could see Gary committing some terrible acts. While it’s possible the promo did indicate the return of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , it seems more likely that Gary’s behavior has pushed the show off course, causing it to drift out to sea.
