Great music on Sunday afternoons outside how can you top that.cheep drinks fun crowd ang great local bands.

Did a great on the renovations looks really good but it's not a place where you want to hang around and have a drink the mixed drink are so small I thought it was a mistake needless to say I was with a big crowd we all had one and left went to a place where we could get a man drink

Hanging out with Geo watching the sunset. Beautiful night! Excellent tunes on the speakers! Feeling incredible!

I wouldn't even give them one star but it's the only way to leave a review. The atmosphere is terrible and the bartender provides terrible service her name was Sharlene, she was neither personable or attentive. She seemed to be more concerned with a few gentlemen at the bar than other customers she had right in front of her. We waited to order and she was extremely rude and disrespectful. The bouncer/staff Scott I believe his name was, he was very rude and used foul language. I've heard from other individuals that the same type of service and behavior was received by them as well. It's a shame that a local establishment employs such I professional individuals.

The few times my husband and I have been I swear they do not put any alcohol in their mixed drinks. Looks like they put some work into the outside deck area with MUCH needed additional bathrooms OK place if you drink beer, but suggest you do not order a mixed drink.

Granted I am writing this review as a newbie to the Yacht Club but I think it is a fantastic summer night hang out. The outdoor space is large with a lot of seating and a great view of the river. It is a relaxed environment, not pretentious, very mixed crowd which I happen to enjoy. Not the best beer selection to those of us who love craft beer but on a summer night I can stomach a 'Gansett and relax on the patio. Tiny indoor space so I am not sure how the winter months would be here and the bathroom leaves something to be desired, clean but ridiculously small. It is cash only so don't leave that at home in case you want to pay the ATM fee. Saturdays they have live music which is great.

Weekly drinks specials. Great deck. No foul language ( sort of). Breaded squid rings. The kitchen in only open Friday thru Sunday during winter months.

The view is great! Excellent local spot that offers live music on weekends! Nice deck overlooking the old bridge, India Pt Park, and Bold Point. Not known for it's food- which is limited. Great place for a drink on a summer night!

This place is definitely an old fashioned local dive bar.. but, you should also know that it has spectacular water views, incredibly cheap prices, its super clean, and the owner Mike is quite possibly the friendliest guy you will ever meet. It's my understanding that the has been passed down 3 generations (which you can see with the epic picture of the bearded man behind the bar as the original owner and grandfather of the current owner.) The best thing is grabbing your (super cheap beer), enjoying their (free food during any games) listening to their FREE music with no cover charge, and sipping and eating, and listening for about, oh, $3.00 ON THE WATER. I can't even believe there are any bad reviews. You probably spent all of $10 on an entire night of drinking, free food, and free music, while you enjoyed the super nice owner and the crazy awesome water views. Don't miss it, and don't shy away from the old looking exterior. This place is a diamond in the rough and its not to be missed. Say hi to Mike, and you'll make a friend who will know your name every time you go to the bar. Enjoy!

Stopped in for a drink on the recommendation of a friend on a Friday evening. The place was a little more low-scale than the name would imply - but the atmosphere was not bad - small woodburning stove added a nice touch. The place seemed semi-full of what appeared to be "regulars" - blue collar guys (sweatshirts/flannel shirts/jeans) and a couple of gals, just enjoying a beverage after work. My husband and I arrived a little more "dressed" - only because we, too, had come from work - but our workplace attire is more business casual - and while we felt like we stood out a bit, we weren't uncomfortable. That is until my husband approached the bar and was "greeted" by a barmaid with an attitude. He asked her what kind of beers they had and she gestured toward the shelf above her (with a "Look up there, Stupid" expression) where the sample bottles were displayed. He chose one and then also ordered a marguerita - straight up, for me. We're guessing she never heard the "straight up" part - because she made the drink in a very tall, heavy blue glass (the style more along the line of what would arrive had your child ordered a large glass of milk at a restaurant - not exactly what margueritas are served in) replete with ice - and without thinking, my husband accepted it. When I mentioned to him that I had asked for it straight up, he brought it back to the barmaid, who then snottily strained the mixture out and then returned it to said, huge glass, and gave it back to him. (For those unfamiliar, margueritas "up" are commonly served in a marguerita glass, but if the establishment doesn't have those, they generally use some other sort of stemware). Since much of the salt had been removed in the straining process, he asked her if she might re-salt the glass - to which she turned the glass around - and said "there's still salt on it" - and handed it back, as is. We drank our drinks - and left. OK - a small snippet, I know. But we all know how important first impressions are. Will we return? Not likely... though maybe we'll give it another shot come summertime, as there's a deck out along the water... however, should Miz 'Tude be at her post, we'll be doing a u-turn.

Great place for drinks with friends. Cash only though unfortunately, but ATM on-site. I'd recommend bringing cash upfront.

Best place to hang meet up with old & new friends, listen to the best live music from so many different bands food is good and the staff are amazing, and you have the best view of the water on a warm summers night❤🤙🎶

Workshop at yacht club stresses mariner safety during wind farm construction

Fishing report.

“We don’t like seeing pylons and turbines in our ocean, but if built responsibly, it is better than burning coal or other fossil fuels to generate electricity,” Kristen Smith stated during Wednesday night’s mariner safety workshop at the Wickford Yacht Club in North Kingstown. 

Smith, her husband, Matthew, and about 25 other members of the Wickford Yacht Club were at the mariner safety workshop conducted by the Better Bay Alliance and wind farm developer Ørsted. The Danish company will be laying cable from their Revolution Wind project offshore up the West Passage of Narragansett Bay, under the Jamestown Bridge to Quonset Point. The purpose of the meeting was to alert mariners about the project, specifically when and where construction activities will be occurring.

Winnie Hagen, the Wickford Yacht Club's seminar organizer, kicked off the meeting by welcoming members and guests: “This workshop is part of a continuing series of educational and informative seminars we will be conducting for members.” 

She then handed the meeting over to David Lussier, president of the Better Bay Alliance. “We are not for offshore wind, or against offshore wind," Lussier said, "but merely here to promote mariner safety on the Bay. And to share our new website software called Live Chart that allows mariners to track all kinds of boating activities on the Bay, including construction projects like this one.”  Visit https://betterbayalliance.org/live-chart-better-bay-alliance/ for Live Chart.

Changes to Local Notice to Mariners and Light Lists

The U.S. Coast Guard Navigation Center announced this week upcoming changes to the Local Notice to Mariners, or LNM, and the Light List, as part of its efforts to modernize and improve the accessibility, accuracy and overall user experience for mariners and other stakeholders.

The LNM and the Light List are used to relate current navigational changes and important navigational notices.

The Coast Guard plans to transition from using NOAA Paper Chart Numbers, editions and dates for disseminating Marketing Safety Information to using Official Waterway Names. The LNM and Light List data will be available in a geospatial format, which will allow users to visualize information interactively on a chart.

The transition to the modernized LNM and Light List platform (the Navigation Center website) will be completed by Monday, Sept. 30.  Visit the Navigation Center at Home | Navigation Center (uscg.gov) .

Where’s the bite?

Striped bass, bluefish, bonito .  “The striped bass bite has been hit or miss from shore with metal lures [that mimic mullet] and bucktails working," said Steven Orefice of Watch Hill Outfitters in Westerly. "The bonito bite continues to be strong, too.” Oliver Zannini of Quaker Lane Bait & Tackle in North Kingstown reported: “Customers haven’t been getting out much this week with rough seas but those fishing are catching some striped bass and bluefish in Narragansett Bay as well as along the coastal shore.” Declan O’Donnell of Breachway Bait & Tackle in Charlestown said: “The fall striped bass season is off to a great start, some great nights and mornings across the south shore. The amount of bait is off the charts and a great mix of sizes for bass. From 10-inch school striped bass up to 40-inch fish. Bonito are still plentiful popping up very randomly.” "East End" Eddie Doherty, Cape Cod Canal fishing expert and author, reported: “Fish continue to devour bait in preparation for the southern migration. I caught a fat fish that I eyeballed to be about 27 inches, but the expanded girth caused the optical illusion of a shorter length, which really measured out to 30 inches." 

Fluke (summer flounder), black sea bass, scup and cod.  The black sea bass bite is still good, however, the summer flounder (fluke) bite is starting to fade. Angler Kevin Fetzer of East Greenwich fished with Joe Klinger of South Kingstown at Austin Hollow off Jamestown and boated a 24-inch, 5.2-pound fluke. “All the other fish we caught were undersized, including several fluke, scup and black sea bass," Fetzer said. “Fluke and seabass fishing is starting to taper off,” O’Donnell said. “Black sea bass and scup fishing continues to be outstanding along the southern coastal shore," Orefice said. "And a big treat this month — anglers are catching keeper cod fish on rock piles and wrecks close to shore.”

Tautog fishing is hit or miss for anglers.  Those finding fish seem to be in lower water where there is water movement.

Tuna. Tuna fishing continues to be good. “The bite south of Block Island and Montauk is good with anglers hooking up with 60-inch school bluefin tuna jigging and chucking,” Orefice reported.
