Morris Yachts Designs and History

By Bob Marston Partner, Wellington Yacht Partners

In 1972 Tom Morris left his previous life in Philadelphia to pursue his passion of boat building. At that time I’m sure he wouldn’t have imagined his vision would someday result in the establishment of Morris Yachts, one of America’s finest yacht brands.

Tom Morris embarked on his craft building Friendship sloops in Southwest Harbor, Maine. He purchased the fiberglass hulls and decks from Jarvis Newman and fit out the boats under the Morris name. I remember his son Cuyler telling me how he and Tom would literally go into the woods and hand select the spruce trees to be used for the spars.

In 1974 Tom connected with designer Chuck Paine, who was promoting a new design. It was the Francis 26, a robust double ender with excellent sea handling characteristics, capable of sailing anywhere. As the relationship between Tom and Chuck grew, so did the model offerings with the Linda 28, Annie 29, Leigh 30 and the Justine 36 Series soon after.

In the late 1980s the company started to focus more on its cruising yachts. These were the Morris Ocean Series 38, 42, 44 and 46 Models. The Morris Ocean Series were great-performing, aft cockpit, trunk cabin style sailing yachts with pretty lines and exquisite craftsmanship. The success and quality of these designs soon gained recognition in the yachting community, and Morris Yachts found itself with owners  throughout the world.

In 1999 Morris Yachts expanded their production capacity by purchasing the Able boatyard in Trenton, Maine. At the same time they added a series of Offshore Cruiser Racer models with the Morris Ocean  45, 48 and 52RS. One of the most notable boats was FIREFLY, a Morris Ocean Series 45, which did extremely well in distance races.

In 2004 Morris Yachts announced its Sparkman and Stephens designed Morris M36 that set the bar for the luxury day sailor market. The Morris M36’s beautiful over-hangs and low profile cabin top were an instant classic.  A performance keel, spade rudder and fractional carbon rig made the M36 a pleasure to sail, and the huge cockpit was enough to take three couples for an afternoon sail easily.

The success of the Morris M36 soon spun off into other models… the Morris M29, Morris M42 and Morris M52.  A standard feature of all the M Series was the ability for the helmsman to handle all control lines from the wheel, making the yachts truly able to be singlehanded, while keeping guests in the cockpit free from entanglement.

After some 45 years of boat building, one thing is for certain:  The Morris Family is passionate about sailing, and anyone who has had the chance to get aboard a Morris Yacht will agree.

At Wellington Yacht Partners we know Morris Yachts and their clientele well. We are happy to discuss the differences between models and share our own experiences with these fine yachts.

MAINE (USA)

The USA’s Maine coastline is best explored by yacht; and a Maine yacht charter is the most convenient way to achieve this. It extends for more than 3,400 miles making it larger than the Californian coast. There are more than 4,613 islands along the coastline just waiting to be explored. A mega yacht charter vacation off the coast of Maine, offers the perfect combination of tranquility and adventure. There are picturesque coastal towns and quaint lighthouses dotted along the shore. During your voyage keep an eye out for seals, migrating whales and porpoises.

Why not begin your itinerary from DiMillo’s Marina in Portland? It’s a great city for entertainment, nightlife and shopping as well as having a fully serviced marina. There are many restaurants here to dine in before setting off on your superyacht journey. Set sail for Monhegan Island which is 1.4 miles long and 0.7 miles wide. Only ten miles out to sea, the island has several hiking trails, exquisite “fairy houses” not far from Penobscot Bay. Ask your captain to drop anchor off Hurricane Island which once had a thriving community due to quarrying. Visit Castine, home of Maine’s Maritime Academy and other marine related industries.

Relaxing on charter

Maine has an intriguing rocky coastline, lots of maritime history and nature areas such as the Acadia National Park. No trip to this park is complete without seeing Thunder Hole. It’s a landmark with stunning views, high rocks and a small cavern at the bottom of the inlet. When waves hit the rocks and release air, thunderous booms can be heard. It shows how powerful the ocean can be with the waves reaching 40 feet in height, nature at its best. You’re sure to get wet so remember to take a waterproof. In Baxter State Park, there’s Mount Katahdin and the Appalachian Trail along with plenty of wild moose. You will also see beautiful sandy beaches and lobster shacks.

Take a cruise to Butter Island, a firm favourite with superyacht charter guests for its spectacular beaches. Anchor in Penobscot Bay before setting off to Nubble Beach to enjoy a swim. If you’ve got the energy, climb up to the top of Montserrat Hill where you can take in magnificent views of the Camden Hills and Mount Megunticcok.

Blue Hill Bay lying to the west of Mount Desert Island in Hancock County, Maine, is very popular with recreational boaters. Here you can also tuck into local delicacies like crab, lobster, salmon and mussels. The town of Blue Hill at the far end of the island offers a great chance to buy local handicrafts and souvenirs. Maine is gaining in popularity with luxury yacht charter enthusiasts so do include it as part of your vacation itinerary.

She is one of the legendary J-35's whose dazzling performance, and responsive yet forgiving nature (over a wide range of conditions) has made them very popular with discerning yachtsmen everywhere. A true sailors boat rather than a “floating cottage”, the J-35 ghosts along in barely a breath of wind and is often the fastest sailboat in the Bay easily outpacing typical 40’ cruisers. The hull is a sweet, easily driven shape that is incredibly balanced. She has a big but uncomplicated rig and sensible deck layout. She is thoughtfully outfitted for a group of 2 to 4 who want high quality sailing and comfortable accommodations. She has been extensively refit, including a recent new Awlgrip® finish and nonskid deck and refinished mast and boom and is in excellent condition. She has a Yanmar® 3GM diesel, tiller steering, tiller (auto)pilot and much recent gear including Espar heating system and an inverter for your laptop and cell charging needs.

The design of the Mason 43 includes everything you could desire in an offshore sailboat. The design focuses on comfort both in the cockpit and below deck, and an overall construction referenced by critics as nothing short of bulletproof.

Defiant has been tested thoroughly offshore, making multiple transits to and from the Gulf of Mexico, but has predominantly been seasonally operated in Penobscot Bay. The design features intended for offshore sailing provides a tremendous cruising range and the ability to hop around the many beautiful harbors in Penobscot bay for weeks without the need to fill up on fuel or water. With over 200+ gallons of water capacity, 104 gallons of fuel, upgraded refrigeration/freezer system, large blackwater holding tank, full length chain anchor, electric windlass, water heater, and fully enclosed stand-up shower, the Mason 43 offers an impressive level of comfort. The focus on comfort extends to the layout of the vessel both in the cockpit and below deck. The design of the Mason 43 utilized a unique off-centered companion way, which is one of the easiest ways to identify these vessels. The genius of the off-centered companion way allows for an additional athwartship seating area in the cockpit, as well as an aft cabin which has been reviewed by professionals as one of genius features of the design. The design offers a spacious cockpit for lounging with larger groups bot underway and while moored, as well as an aft cabin below deck providing a single berth and a double berth, both with side access to the bunks and ample overhead space.

The Mason 43 is a heavy displacement boat, weighing in at just below 30,000 lbs. The weight is mainly concentrated within the vessels full keel hull, which incorporates an 18’ lead keel base generating an incredible amount of stability below the waterline. To compensate for the weight of the vessel, the Mason 43 design carries an oversized sail plan for the length of the vessel and cruises at comfortable speeds in even light winds. In heavy winds, the cutter rig and multiple reefing points on the main, allows for control and reducing the sail plan with relative ease. In addition to the sail configuration, the vessel has been repowered with a larger 55 HP straight drive engine which provides dependable, smooth, and quiet power to the vessel based on its positioning below the vessels sound reducing floorboards. Defiant has been a cherished boat by both its current and previous owners. The current owners of the vessel are active Merchant Marine Officers who have recently begun chartering the vessel for periods of the summer to help offset some of the costs of ownership. It also brings the owners joy to see the boat used while they are deployed through their Merchant Marine careers.

SWEETNESS  is an excellent example of one of the best designs of the legendary Carl Alberg, who designed her to provide a maximum combination of comfort and performance in a yacht of this size.   She is a great sea boat with the ability to stand up to heavy weather, beat to windward or track effortlessly on downwind runs, but also equally well suited to gentle summer breezes., and loves to be on a reach. She features a “full keel” with attached rudder and cutter rig which assures stability and short - handed sailing ease. The beautiful lines and sweet overhangs give the Cape Dory 36 a grace that belies its rugged construction. Her interior layout is extremely comfortable and her joiner work is the finest. Comfort and beauty is what is focused on when below deck.  She has already proven herself on most of the world's oceans and is ready to deliver you to your dream charter.

Tailwind is a beautiful example of Roger Hewson ‘s best performing sailboat design. Her whole design captures performance, refined styling, elegance and sea kindliness all in one boat. The design of the Saber 36 features a fine entry forward for excellent windward performance and a long run aft for ultimate sea kindliness. Her deep fin keel and easily driven moderate displacement hull shape make the Sabre 36 a top performer. Sabers are not wet race boats, nor are they heavy displacement tanks. They are comfortable, fast and highly refined yachts. This is a safe, comfortable cruiser that performs well and has been continually upgraded to be in very good condition

Who says a comfortable cruising yacht can't perform like a thoroughbred?  The Hylas 44 certainly dispels that belief.  Her powerful sloop rig is balanced by an innovative mini-winged keel.  But for all her refined features, the Hylas 44 is easily sailed by two people.  Furthermore, her uncluttered deck makes sailing and anchoring a breeze!

Swallow is a beautiful and very responsive classic, designed by Chuck Paine and built by Morris Yachts.  Given her traditional looks and comfortable interior, Swallow is deceptively fast.  A pleasantly surprised 2019 charter reported a max speed of 7.8 kts, and average speeds well above expectations.  She is well equipped and set up for easy handling by a couple or a solo sailor, with Raymarine Quantum radar (2018) and a new Bohndell mainsail in 2019.  In 2020 season Swallow got a new Betamarine 20hp engine with 3-blade feathering prop, and a new dodger from Gemini Marine Canvas in Rockland.  In 2021 she had a complete bottom job and extensive interior and varnish paint work.  Her entire steering system and pedestal has been rebuilt and repainted, and an upgraded Balmar charging system is being installed.

VESSEL MAKE YEAR BERTHS SECURITY PORT RATE
Swallow Morris Leigh 30 1981 5 $3500 Rockland. ME $4000/WK

Accommodates up to five but most comfortable for a couple or small family.  Swallow is finished below deck with white bulkheads, varnished mahogany  abd cherry trim, and oiled cedar ceiling.  Cushions are 4” foam with dark green Sunbrella.

V-berth forward has a drop-in filler to form a double berth.  Full-length shelves above and drop-face lockers below.  Large deck prisms above each berth give natural light.  A forward-facing port with screen brings in the breeze at when anchor, along with an overhead hatch.

Next aft is head with solid oval doors closing it off from both V-berth and main cabin.  Jabsco manual head to starboard, replumbed in 2019.  A stainless sink with manual freshwater pump slides in for use on bronze tracks.  Large hanging locker to port.  2 opening ports with screens.  This is an arrangement common in the later Morris Leigh models, providing very good space and privacy.

The main cabin has settee berths port and starboard with storage lockers and shelves above.  Cherry cabin table with leaves port and starboard and built-in wine storage.  Aft to starboard is a chart table which can be removed for use of the quarter berth.  Electronics and additional storage above and outboard.

Galley to port, with a gimbled Origo 6000 non-pressurized alcohol stove with oven (new 2014).  This is an efficient and easy-to-use system, preferred by many long-distance cruisers for safety and simplicity.  Large icebox, storage, and extra counter space from a folding extension.  Stainless sink is supplied by Whale freshwater foot pump.  Good pots and pans, sharp knives, wine glasses, insulated French press coffee maker.

Ventilation from 9 opening bronze ports (most with screens), 2 overhead hatches, and one dorade vent.  There is a full-length drop-in screen for the companionway.  Additional light from three deck prisms.

Comfortable seating for 5, bench seats port and starboard with close-cell foam cushions.  Edson pedestal with varnished mahogany wheel.  Lewmar traveler on bridge deck and Raymarine autopilot at the binnacle bring all controls within reach of the helm.

Wired for 12 Volt DC Service, house bank with 2 90ah batteries and a dedicated starting batter, both connected with voltage monitor on the main switch panel.  70 am Balmar alternator (new for 2022) with external voltage regulator.  12 Volt charging port with USB converters.

Sparkman and Stephens presented the design for the first Hinckley Pilot in 1945.  The Hinckley Company of Southwest Harbor, Maine bought the plans and elongated the hull and increased the sail area.  The New Pilot was advertised as "the ultimate in combining livability,  seaworthiness and speed".   We feel that tradition still embodies "Osprey".   Osprey ties up in the inner harbor of Bass Harbor on Mount Desert Island at our private marina known as Up Harbor Marine.  Our facilities include laundry and showers as well as an expansive private deck and Art Gallery and home to The Bass Harbor Yacht Club.  Sailing Osprey, sporting a 2005 carbon fiber mast, out of Bass Harbor will find you in the optimal cruising grounds of Blue Hill, Jericho & Penobscot Bays with a wide variety of island anchorages.  A Trinka sailing dinghy carries you easily to shore, exploring the islands and settling back on board for a sunset dinner.  We highly recommend the Maine Island Trail Association's network of island trails that dot the bays and harbors, every island has something special to offer!

Brightside was designed by Frans Maas, a Danish Naval Architect and built by Palmer Johnson to withstand the closest scrutiny. It was totally rebuilt in the mid nineties and in many ways surpasses the original with all new systems and (oversized) deck gear and hardware. Her sleek lines and gleaming black hull are certain to be a head turner in any harbor. The interior was well finished more inline with the early S&S swans that Palmer Johnson was importing and finishing out at the time. Hull form is... tumblehome, small stern,. Nice skeg rudder... the bottom looks like the Swans of the era as well. This is a first class yacht in every respect.

Naida is a wooden lobsterboat yacht built by the highly-regarded local lobsterboat builder Frank “June” Day in his shop at Benjamin River in Sedgwick, Maine. While she was built as a yacht, she is of authentic, traditional work-boat appearance and plain finish, and will look right at home in any local harbor. Unlike many similar boats, she has real cruising accommodations and will be suitable for day trips for up to seven people, weekend overnights for up to four, and long-term cruising for two.

VESSEL MAKE YEAR BERTHS SECURITY PORT RATE
Nadia Custom 1991 2 w/head TBD Rockland, ME $3000/wk

Sleeps two on new foam mattresses (could sleep two more on the cockpit floor in a pinch—no mattresses for cockpit are provided).

Cockpit can seat up to seven for a day trip, plus one or two in the pilothouse.

The interior is all paint except for a small amount of varnished mahogany trim. Interior is being completely re-painted this winter.

From forward: Under the foredeck there is a chain locker with a hanging locker. In the forward cabin are two berths with new burgundy berth cushions. This cabin has sitting headroom, with comfortable seating on the berths and large ports at eye level. A screened overhead hatch provides ventilation, additional light, and standing room when open. There is a Force 10 vented propane heater mounted on the bulkhead on the starboard side, with an enclosed head aft and to starboard. The head contains a newly-installed, power-ventilated AirHead toilet and sink.  Just aft of the port berth is a small seat. There is storage under the berths and in net hammocks above the berths. The forward cabin is lit with four LED swivel lights with shades. The engine box provides another shelf area toward the rear of the cabin.

The pilothouse is fully enclosed with a door on centerline at the aft end. Ventilation is provided by two opening windshield windows (both with windshield wipers), and two windows at the aft end. Screens are being made for these four windows this winter. Steering is to starboard, with a solar-powered 12 volt refrigerator and counter space aft. To port is a sink with storage under, and a Force 10 3-burner propane range with oven.

The cockpit has room for 2-4 folding chairs (provided) plus seating for up to three on a combination bench and storage box at the aft end.  An extension of the pilothouse roof covers about 2/3 of the cockpit. Canvas side panels allow degrees of added shelter up to and including full enclosure of the cockpit as rain-proof living space. It would be possible to sleep two people on the sole, in a pinch (mattresses not provided).

There is a small boarding platform with swim ladder mounted on the transom.

Traditional wooden plank-on-frame construction with bronze fastenings, cedar planks, and white oak timbers. Laid wooden decks with caulked seams. Light buff decks, white topsides and cabin sides, bottom color yet to be determined but probably green. Cockpit sole and interior soles are a traditional greyish green. The remainder of the interior is semi-gloss white, with mahogany trim.

  • Stainless bow pulpit
  • Small stainless and teak stern platform with swim ladder
  • Canvas enclosure for cockpit

260 HP Chrysler V-8 engine turning a four-bladed prop. Prop cage being installed this spring renders the boat immune to lobster traps when underway.  Hydraulic wheel steering with traditional bronze and mahogany wheel. Electric bilge pump. Tachometer, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, ammeter and voltmeter. Fuel and water levels measured via dip stick.

Runs at six knots, burns about 3 gallons per hour, and she will go 12 at 15 gallons per hour.

Recommend that people keep her under 8 knots because at that speed one should pull the dinghy aboard.

Nefer Nubi NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Image

One of the finest examples of the famous Hans Christian 38 MKII, “Nefer Nubi” is a well found and lovingly maintained bluewater cruising boat ready to take you on your next saltwater adventure. This offshore-bred cruiser handles a broad range of conditions with grace and dependability, in a size that can easily be managed by a couple. Enjoy the best in traditional design, safety, and comfort with modern technology such as state of the art electronics alongside crisp new sails built by the research and development team at North Sails. She has been meticulously cared for and updated over the years with artful custom touches, while maintaining her timeless elegance and the seaworthy sturdiness that define the Hans Christian sailboat. VESSEL MAKE YEAR BERTHS SECURITY PORT RATE
Nefer Nubi Hans Christian 38 1981 4+ $3900 Rockland, ME $5300/wk

The MKII has several distinguishing characteristics to the interior layout which make it especially comfortable underway and at anchor alike. Forward to port is a “pullman” style private berth that is much preferable to a v-berth, as it is located farther aft for less motion underway and is slightly larger than a typical full-size bed aboard. Aft to starboard is a second double berth. In the saloon, the settees on either side of the dinette table serve as additional sea-berths offering a total of six berths aboard. Sizable closet with hangers, eight drawers under the pullman berth, and two enclosed shelves in the aft cabin provide plenty of storage space.

The head / shower is at the bow of the boat and was completely rebuilt with all new plumbing, tiling, lighting, and varnish in 2019. She has a saltwater / freshwater electric flush toilet, hot water (heated from the engine’s heat exchanger or shore power), and holds 170 gallons of freshwater. All freshwater is stored in stainless steel tanks and the galley is equipped with a specialty purifier for drinking water.

Saloon features a generous table with a lip to prevent spills at sea. It’s perfect for sharing a delicious meal at anchor, or for playing cards and sharing stories at night. On a chilly Maine morning, convert the cabin into a cozy hearth with the small but mighty fireplace! The diesel burning heater provides comfortable, dry heat and delightful ambiance.

Interior and furnishings are of finished solid burmese teak. Surfaces and headliners are off-white, with 6’4” headroom throughout. Cabinsole is teak and holly. Stately bronze portholes and brass light fixtures give the space a classic nautical feel.

The galley is located to port at the foot of the companionway. The gimbaled three burner GN Espace stove and oven was installed in 2017 alongside a Fireboy-Xintex propane system with fault detection. A double basin stainless steel sink has hot and cold pressure water faucets along with manual foot-pumped fresh and salt water faucets. Other galley features include an icebox with refrigeration, storage, countertops, spice rack, boat-friendly dinnerware, and custom built teak organizers for knives and flatware. Complete with pots, pans, mixing bowls, and handy utensils, it’s a well equipped galley. The onboard propane system also serves a small Dickinson Sea-B-Que Grill on the aft railing!

  • The cockpit is a classic bluewater cockpit, smaller in size than modern boats to prevent swamping, located aft with lower freeboard to keep sailors closer to the axes of rotation and prevent seasickness.
  • Nefer Nubi’s cockpit has been entirely restored over the past 5 years to include new cabintop Lewmar self-tailing winches, new teak decking, and custom teak propane tank locker to hide the propane tanks which are safely vented overboard.
  • Custom integrated stainless steel davits make it easy to lift and launch the tender.
  • She has a beautifully designed Iverson dodger with recently replaced polycarbonate glass, a small fixed bimini top over the helm, and an optional canvas that spans the two for sun or rain cover at anchor.
  • There are 4 fishing rod holders on the aft rail, and a stanchion-mounted folding ladder for swimming.
  • One main lazarette locker houses deck gear, fenders, spare lines, life jackets, etc.
  • The steering binnacle is bronze with a lit compass, cup holders, and off the binnacle to starboard is the main chartplotter which displays all instrument data, radar, sonar, etc. To port is the dedicated autopilot control interface.
  • The flybridge houses two MFD displays for any data preferable to the captain such as depth or windspeed information.  Additionally all engine data is integrated into the NMEA2k backbone and can be monitored from any display onboard.
  • Saltwater washdown pump

The electrical and electronics have also been entirely updated and modernized for world cruising. 560 watts of high-efficiency solar panels, a 350 watt wind turbine, a high-output alternator, and a 600 amp-hour AGM battery bank generate and store enough power in typical cruising conditions to eliminate reliance on shore-power. A rich graphic display makes it easy to monitor. A 3kw sine-wave inverter powers cabin AC outlets.

Nefer Nubi has all 2019 Raymarine electronics which includes the latest autoranging Doppler radar solution. This highlights moving objects from stationary objects making navigation in low visibility conditions (night or fog) much safer. Modern instrument displays, chartplotters, and even 3d RealVision sonar make navigation and operation of the vessel a rich and informed experience. Two autopilots are fitted for redundancy, and the Raymarine primary has a dedicated interface and takes only one-touch to engage and disengage. For radio communications, the boat has a primary ICOM masthead VHF with DSC and distress, ICOM AIS which integrates into the chartplotters, dedicated GPS in addition to several internal GPS modules for redundancy, and an ICOM SSB for the ham radio enthusiast. The boat also has two ICOM handheld VHF radios for taking in the tender or between groups. The boat has a Fusion bluetooth enabled stereo with indoor and outdoor zones.

Nefer Nubi has a Yanmar 3QM30 30hp diesel engine which was entirely rebuilt in 2019. This pushes her at a cruising speed of 6.5 knots at 2k RPM with a 3-blade fixed prop. With 120 gallons of fuel capacity and burning less than a gallon an hour, her range is over 1000 miles under power. The engine compartment was rebuilt in 2019 which included two layers of soundproofing.

The MKII has a solid fiberglass deck and hull, with teak inlays. Nefer Nubi has been under the meticulous care of a boatbuilder for the past 5 years, and you will see touches of this throughout the exterior and interior woodwork. The coachroof teak decking and cockpit decking has been replaced with new teak slowly over the last 4 years.  The caprails, bulwarks, hatches, doghouse, bowsprit, capstan, and boomkin are all finished bright and varnished annually. 6 dorades ventilate the boat and new Lewmar hatches were added over the pullman berth for light and ventilation.

The owner of Nefer Nubi is closely connected with the North Sails research and development team and had a whole new suit of sails made for her in 2019 which makes this boat a real joy to sail... and probably the fastest Hans Christian in the world 😊

The Sceptre 41 was designed for two couples to cruise in comfort in the privacy of two cabins, the main salon is raised to provide views of the anchorage through large fixed ports.  Ventilation is wonderful and all opening ports and hatches have bug screens including the companionway.

  • All navigation equipment is duplicated in both the cockpit helm and in the below decks second helm/nav station which provides shelter in inclement weather.
  • Her galley is equipped for a gourmet - from Wolfgang Puck stainless steel cookware to Chicago chef knives…no essential is overlooked.
  • Rather than clambering over the side, PAX offers an aft swim platform that allows crew to step on board from the dingy and the walk-through transom very convenient.  The ease of boarding PAX really stands out, as does the very manageable companionway which has fewer steps and not a steep ladder.
  • PAX is a fast passage maker with oversized 4 speed winches to easily handle trimming.  On her blue water passages she makes 200 nm/24hr runs with ease. Very sea kindly, she goes to weather without burying the rail thanks to her full aft sections.
  • Her anchoring system is handheld push button or foot switch controlled and she has 280’ of chain.

For people with some mobility issues, the ease of boarding PAX really stands out, as does the very managable companionway which is fewer steps and not a step ladder.

The aft swim platform also dramatically enhances anchorages where one can easily swim, sit and dangle their feet in the water or shower/rinse off.

For those that actually enjoy cooking, the galley is superb, not at all like camping out with a cramped awkward arrangment.

PAX is very very stiff, not a rail burier- yet she sails at great speed easily…comforting to heal less while  enjoying real performance.

QUINDARO Morris 38 1995

Specification.

QUINDARO is a perfect example of a Maine-built cruising yacht that is just as nice to be aboard as she is to sail. On deck she is easy to operate with furling main and headsail, lines led to the cockpit, and winches within easy reach of the helm. The cockpit is deep and protected, side decks wide, tracks wrapped with teak and stanchions high.

Below decks, she is nothing short of a work of art. The high-gloss joinery detail, mahogany finish, ash battens, inlays and half hulls are exquisite, and were described by Tom Morris as one of Morris Yachts’ best.

Always kept indoors during winters, QUINDARO is near immaculate. Paintwork, varnish and maintenance are well above average. Her current owner purchased the boat in 2003 and would use her 2 months a summer. When he was finished, she would go back inside.
