Accommodations

Using pods, pushes the engines to the rear making space abundant in the hull. Three small marine diesels also free up space in the hull and reduce the burning of fuel per horsepower than when two bigger ones are used.

The main deck has a galley at the back which connects to the cockpit that gives the saloon setting area located midship more privacy. The long overhang serves dual functions; as a shield for the cockpit and a bridge space which houses the helm station. The lower deck layout is very clear and efficient. The 65 could have four cabins depending on how you choose to utilize that space to fit your needs.

Performance

On the water, she was very efficient and behaved like a professional with smooth movements and a top speed of 30.5 knots. Cruising speeds were comfortable, planing as low as 14 knots. Steering was very responsive, hard turns were done without stress and the triple installation performed well.

When starting while the center engine was off the 65 climbed to plane at a speed of 22 knots at full throttle even though the pod drive was dead and very heavy. Although the boat struggled with one engine dead, it still managed to climb onto plane and fuel burn was about 63 gallons per hour. With the removal of one of the outer engines, the boat was less happy, but still managed a maximum of 18 knots. At full speed with just the center engine running, 12 knots were achieved.

The Pearl Yacht 65, developed by Pearl Yachts in collaboration with renowned naval architect Bill Dixon and luxury interior designer Kelly Hoppen, showcases a refined blend of performance and elegance.

The interior of the Pearl Yacht 65 is finished in the studio interior design scheme by Kelly Hoppen, featuring a luxurious four-cabin layout. This includes a full-beam master suite, a twin cabin, a bunk cabin, and a VIP cabin forward. Additionally, there is a generous crew cabin with a separate bathroom. The accommodation is fully air-conditioned, and the lighting throughout can be dimmed, and the colours changed, adding to the ambiance.

The spacious saloon is positioned forwards with large amounts of natural light and a well-appointed helm position to starboard. There is a large TV on an electric raise.

The galley is positioned aft with full width opening doors, which seamlessly connect with the aft deck, to achieve a real open plan feel, and is equipped with an oven, recently replaced induction hob, double fridge space and generous storage.

The Pearl 65 – PEARL ONE, is powered by 3x Cummins Zeus engines, known for their impressive performance and the ease provided by the joystick docking system. This engine installation on the Pearl 65, was well reviewed by MBY Magazine for its impressive handling and low noise levels at cruising speed. A particularly useful feature is the sky hook, which allows the yacht to automatically hold its position and heading. The deck areas are designed to be sociable and spacious.

The large flybridge includes a forward sun pad and a spacious aft sofa, which is protected from the sun by a notable hydraulic bimini. The foredeck features wide teak-laid side decks with a central sun pad, while the aft deck offers a large central table with companionway access to the bathing platform on both port and starboard sides.

The hydraulic bathing platform can accommodate a notable tender, and PEARL ONE is also fitted with a hydraulic gangway for easy access to the dock. Additionally, there are two generous storage lockers accessible from the platform.

The yacht is equipped with notable navigation equipment, including three plotters, open array radar, autopilot, AIS, and more.

Arksen 65 first look: Brand new British explorer yacht

The Arksen 65 is an impressive new explorer motor yacht from the British builder that offer 3,700nm range from its 9,200 litre. fuel tank

British yard Arksen has released more details of its new 65ft explorer yacht. Like its bigger sister, the tri-deck Arksen 85, the first of which was launched earlier this year, the smaller two-deck 65 is designed for low-impact, self-sufficient adventures. The aluminium low displacement hull from Humphreys Yacht Design is built for ultra-efficient long-range cruising in all climates.

At the heart of the yacht is an open-plan saloon with aft galley and lounge forward to make the most of the views through the panoramic wraparound glazing. Then there’s a choice of two or three cabins on the lower deck – a forward ensuite owners’ cabin, an ensuite twin or double aft of the central engineroom, and a smaller space between them that can be specified as a third ensuite double, an owners’ study, workshop, laundry or lower galley to free up space in the saloon.

A big plus of the all-aluminium construction is the ability to offer semi-customised interiors without the constraints of the fixed bulkheads that moulded GRP hulls require. It’s also a more sustainable material that contains up to 70% recycled metal and can easily be recycled again.

Conventional diesel and parallel diesel/ electric hybrid propulsion packages are available. The proposed engines are heavy duty John Deere diesels delivering a modest 160hp at 2,300rpm on straight shafts for maximum reliability, refinement and a top speed of 12 knots.

The range from its 9,200 litres of fuel is predicted to be around 3,700nm at 9 knots or as much as 5,000nm at 8 knots. The hybrid variant uses the same engines but will also have a zero-emissions mode for environmentally sensitive areas and silent running at anchor.

The raised-helm position aft can be either partially or fully enclosed beneath its hardtop.

Twin freshwater tanks fore and aft can be used to trim the yacht under way with fin and/ or gyro stabilisers taking care of roll. Twin skegs also allow the yacht to dry out without damaging the sterngear. A tender of up to 3.4m (11ft) can be carried on or above the bathing platform and launched using an aft deck crane.

An Arksen 65 should take about 18 months to build. Prices start from £3.2 million, excluding taxes, with a typical spec nearer £4 million.
