The biggest yachts for sale at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023

With the Monaco Yacht Show fast approaching, we take a look at the impressive line-up of yachts for sale on display in Port Hercule or at anchor this year...

Length : 91m Builder : Lürssen

Delivered in 2015, Lady Lara  is being offered for sale for the first time since she first hit the water. She offers a wide range of amenities or socialising and relaxing on board, including two swimming pools (one of which transforms into a dance floor), an onboard cinema and a dedicated wellness area complete with a beauty salon, spa treatment room, hammam and gym. Guests can also make use of her touch-and-go helipad for adventures beyond the sea. Accommodation is for 16 guests in eight cabins, including an owner's suite with access to a private deck and library.

Asking €230,000,000 with Y.CO.

Length : 90.1m Builder : Lürssen

Originally known as Air , Ice picked up the award for Motor Yacht of the Year at the 2006 World Superyacht Awards, in part because she was one of the first vessels to be fitted with electrically powered Azipod propellers. She sports a minimalist interior, comprised of tables and many horizontal surfaces made of limestone. The five bathtubs were carved from solid blocks, so large and heavy that the yacht was reportedly built around them.

Asking €120,000,000 with Blackorange Yachts .

New York and its skyline were the inspiration for Phoenix 2’ s styling. The result? Empire State skyscrapers on the bar stools in the sky lounge bar, which are lit by uplighters reminiscent of the torch held by the Statue of Liberty, as well as the firebird figurehead that looks as if it may have flown in from the Chrysler Building. Her style is grand Art Deco with a ballroom, a gilt-and-black Steinway grand piano, vast dining table, crystal chandelier and an adjoining wine cellar. Further features include a cinema, a winter garden with guest dining, a beach club and a beauty salon with a hammam. She accommodates up to 14 guests in seven cabins, including the full-beam owner’s suite forward on the main deck.

Asking €124,950,000 (VAT paid) with Burgess and Cecil Wright .

Length : 83.5m    Builder: Feadship

Feadship’s Savannah boasts a trophy cabinet of awards and international acclaim as one of the fleet's truly "eco-conscious" superyachts. As the first-ever hybrid yacht, her eco-focused and quiet electric-diesel performance is allied to an extremely efficient hull design. Her series of innovative design features continue as the first superyacht to be given a completely metallic paint job, but she is arguably best known for her Nemo Lounge. The semi-submerged sheet of glazing in the hull provides a view under the surface of the sea like no other.

Price on application with Edmiston .

Length : 70.6m Builder: Royal Denship

Iconic explorer Force Blue was once owned by a predominant character in the Formula One world and is regarded for her comfort, adventure features and versatility. She first tasted saltwater in 2002 as the 63.3-metre Big Roi, designed as a trawler-style expedition yacht, and has since been refitted throughout her life. Much of the work of her most recent refit, completed in 2022, centred around a seven-metre stern extension to allow for a large wrap-around swim platform. While H2 Yacht Design handled the exterior re-design, Italian architect Michele Bonan conceived her new interior. Her lofty bow, open forward deck (storing a wealth of tenders and toys) and 8,000-nautical-mile range certainly make her fit for exploration.

Price on application with Burgess and Fraser .

Length : 68.8m Builder : Feadship

Drizzle has had only one owner since new and has remained under their stewardship since 2012 with a comprehensive maintenance schedule that has kept her in near-perfect condition. The owner collaborated with British design studio RWD to fashion a neutral, contemporary interior intended for wide appeal. Her most recent refit in 2019 saw her repainted and fitted with a new, full-beam swim platform with a shower and retractable self-washing swim ladder. Drizzle joined the market following the completion of her Lloyds 10-Year Special Survey in May 2022.

Asking €63,000,000 (VAT paid) with Hamilton Marine International .

Length : 67.1m Builder: Damen Yachting

It is not just her imposing profile that makes Dapple powerful, but she also provides the scope to carry a multitude of equipment for exploration. Her layout has been designed with military precision – built with a fully commercial heli deck and a fully equipped dive centre with an integrated decompression chamber. Designed for global adventures, the support vessel is known for her speed and efficiency with a range of over 8,700 nautical miles at 13.5 knots. Guests can also soak up the 360-degree views from the bridge.

Asking €28,000,000 with Y.CO.

Ventum Maris

Length :  66m Builder: Amels

Part of the Amels 212 series, Ventum Maris is no stranger to luxury details, from the touch-and-go helipad and large tender garage to an elevator connecting all levels for guest convenience. She has gone through several refits between 2019 and 2021 at Amels , Monaco Marine and Amico . Tim Heywood leads the exterior design, showcasing a fusion of artistic vision and engineering prowess, and, inside, the space is one of welcoming comfort, where her original interiors by Andrew Winch were redesigned by Maria Poggi . The yacht's large sundeck is a continuation of this relaxing aesthetic, home to a Jacuzzi tub encircled by sunpads and a contraflow pool, accompanied by a swim-up wet bar.

Asking €65,000,000 with Edmiston .

Length : 65.5m Builder : Delta Marine

Delivered in 2013, Invictus boasts an impressive charter career and has six individually designed guest cabins on the main deck. This is in addition to the upper full-beam master suite, where the owner can enjoy wrap-around windows overlooking a private terrace and out to sea. The yacht's impressive interior volume is brought to life with exotic woods, rare Italian marbles and Art Deco fixtures, while large picture windows throughout afford magnificent views. Entertainment is key, with a bar on every deck, a bespoke Lalique bar on the owner's level and a piano in the high-ceilinged main saloon.

Asking $94,000,000 with Burgess.

Length: 65.2m Builder: Lürssen

Polar Star was built in 2005 to a design by Espen Øino and, as her name might suggest, features an ice-class hull with an impressive range of 7,000 range miles, granting her access to remote parts of the world. Polar Star underwent an extensive refit in 2016 that saw the aft platform extended by two metres, the hexagonal spa pool replaced with a more practical rectangular, glass-fronted one and the guest office remodelled into a massage room. It also received a full Pinmar repaint in 2021. Accommodation is for 12 guests in five cabins.

Asking €59,000,000 with Eastwind Yachts .

Length : 64.5m Builder : Benetti

Seanna was designed by Benetti, who delivered her in 2011, with interior design and styling by Redman Whiteley Dixon and Susan Young.  A grand marble lobby is found at the heart of the vessel and her interior is finished in fine Italian leathers, rich walnut woodwork and nickel inlays. The saloon converts to a cinema and there is a separate TV lounge adjacent to the formal dining room, while the main deck also boasts a massage room for two and a library with an electric fireplace.

Asking €49,500,000 with Burgess .

Length : 62.3m Builder : Feadship

Flag started life at Feadship in 2000 but underwent an extensive refit in 2012 that saw her pick up the Neptune for Best Refit at a World Superyacht Awards the following year. Highlights include a homey interior restyled by Chahan with a flexible seven-cabin layout offering accommodation for up to 18 guests. A lift offers stair-free access to all decks, including the sundeck where guests will find a pool and a pizza oven.

Asking €39,500,000 with Burgess and Merle Wood & Associates .

Length :  62m Builder : Codecasa

Having only ever had one owner for private use, Moneikos has been meticulously maintained since her delivery in 2006 and is in turnkey condition. It is her autonomous owner's suite, located on the upper deck immediately beneath the sundeck, that sets her apart with 180° panoramic views and privacy for family life. She comfortably accommodates a party of up to 16 across eight cabins, and the Studio Dedalo interior is enhanced by comfortable seating to create an inviting atmosphere. Placing less of an emphasis on sunbathing, the sundeck is mostly covered, which gives more internal volume to the vessel. Further highlights include the main dining room, where optic fibre micro spotlights turn the ceiling into a starry vault for added intimacy.

Asking €27,890,000 with Royal Yacht International .

Length :  61.5m Builder: Amels

Calypso 's strengths come in the form of volume. She was originally designed by Michael Leach , who does not hold back on ceiling heights, reaching 4.2 metres in the two-level master suite. The full-beam suite is described as a "sanctuary" and, sporting an overhead skylight, is truly impressive. Her lofty interior lends itself to a large accommodation configuration of up to 18 guests across seven cabins. Further highlights are showcased across the sun deck, split into three sections, home to everything from a Jacuzzi and enclosed gym to an outdoor cinema setup.

Asking €40,000,000 with Y.CO.

Length : 61.3m Builder : Lürssen

Marguerite was built in 2004 under the supervision of the Moran Yacht & Ship 's new construction team with a design brief that required a private owner’s area, professional dive centre, capacious tender storage and autonomous operation for thirty days. Fresh from a full interior refit after a change in ownership at the end of 2021, the yacht for sale accommodates 12 guests in six large cabins consisting of a two-deck owner's apartment with an observation lounge, access to a private foredeck and a floating staircase that leads to an upper deck study. A large sun deck/helicopter deck has a ten-person Jacuzzi that has been installed with a dedicated insulated storage tank, allowing the tub to be emptied and refilled with immediate hot water.

Asking $48,000,000 with Moran Yacht & Ship .

Mia Elise II

Length : 60.1m Builder: Trinity Yachts

With a relatively small draft of just over 2.80m, Mia Elise II is one of the largest yachts in the world capable of accessing the shallow anchorages in the Bahamas and Caribbean. She demonstrates an ingenious layout across a separate owner's deck with a forward-facing master stateroom that stretches across the full beam – enhanced by the private deck providing panoramic views. Further highlights are visible in the expansive living areas and various outside deck spaces, including a fold-down beach club and a separate gym and spa. Accommodation is for 12 across 6 cabins, plus a convertible staff cabin.

Asking $34,900,000 with Fraser .

Length : 60m Builder : Lürssen

Caipirinha was designed by Espen Øino with an interior by Mark Berryman and delivered by Lürssen in 2009. She picked up the coveted Neptune for Motor Yacht of the Year at the 2010 World Superyacht Awards and was refitted as recently as 2017. Oversized windows fill the interior with natural light, while each guest cabin is finished with low noise, state-of-the-art electric blinds for privacy. The layout is described by the broker as "versatile, catering to a variety of social gatherings", including a formal saloon that can be converted to a cinema via a hidden screen and projector.

Asking €59,990,000 with Burgess .

Come Together

Length : 60m Builder : Amels

A category winner in the World Superyacht Awards 2023, Come Together was a direct response to the owner’s brief – a yacht that would limit its carbon footprint, house an expansive sundeck and provide a touch-and-go point for a helicopter. Her angular exterior and geometric windows, which are now the yacht’s distinctive feature, are the work of Espen Oeino International . Come Together is the first in the series and built for a serial yacht owner, equipped with a relaxed, beachouse-style interior by Winch Design .

Asking €65,950,000 with Y.CO and Christie Yachts .

Length : 55.8m Builder : Codecasa

My Legacy , delivered in 2021, celebrates the best of Italy’s artisanship with an opulence that’s becoming rare. The owner initially intended to do a slight refit of his much-loved vintage yacht but when that proved unpractical, he decided to go with a new build that was larger and had a greater emphasis on comfort. What really sets her apart is the classic interior, highlighting a specific kind of craftsmanship – seen across marquetry resembling individual art pieces, gilded side chairs, crystal chandeliers and luxurious fabrics.

Asking €44,950,000 with Burgess.

Length : 55.4m Builder : Turquoise Yachts

Turquoise was delivered by the Proteksan-Turquoise shipyard in 2011 to a design by Dubois Naval Architects and is offered for sale following a 2022 refit. Work included an upgrade of her interiors – which were overhauled in 2014 by H2 Yacht Design and again in 2019 – as well as a new metallic hull paint, teak caulking and her 10-year class survey. A full-beam owner’s suite is positioned on the main deck, with its own private office, along with a VIP cabin. A private upper saloon is complete with its own pantry – and a baby grand piano – that leads out onto an al fresco dining area.

Asking €20,500,000 with IYC .

Silver Star

Length : 55.2m Builder : Admiral - The Italian Sea Group (TISG)

New in 2023, the all-aluminium Silver Star is the second in the S-Force 55 series, following on from the builder's first hull Geco . Design is by TISG's art director Gian Marco Campanino and the broker pointed out that she now has "a stunning interior by the legendary Italian luxury designer Giorgio Armani". Key features include a beach club, a large multifunctional circular helipad and the upper deck, sporting a Jacuzzi, bar and connecting lounge creating the perfect indoor-outdoor social environment.

Asking €34,500,000 with TWW Yachts .

Length : 55m Builder : Feadship

Olympus was commissioned for a royal family and delivered as Samax in 1996. She boasts exceptional volumes for her length, offering 881GT of interior volume granted by a 10-metre beam. Interiors and exteriors are courtesy of British studio Winch Design and she accommodates up to 16 guests in total with a two-master layout said to be ideal for long-term, live-aboard cruising.

Asking $28,500,000 with Fraser and Y.CO.

Kahalani was designed by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects with an interior by renowned Paris-based Rémi Tessier. She benefits from having two large saloons, with the bridge deck saloon unusually being full beam. Tessier's contrasting light and dark finishes make for a spectacularly clean and contemporary look throughout the interior. The generously-sized sundeck sports a Jacuzzi, full bar and completely sheltered dining for 12. The bridge deck offers indoor-outdoor formal dining at a large circular table for 12, thanks to semi-circular glass sliding doors.

Asking €42,500,000 with Camper & Nicholsons International .

Sea Huntress

Sea Huntress is a rare offering on the brokerage market as one of only a handful of Feadships designed inside and out by Terence Disdale. She was delivered in 1997 but a 2020 refit saw her overhauled and repainted from top to bottom with extensive areas of new teak decking and a complete refurbishment of her interior decor. In 2022, under her most recent owner, the helipad was upgraded to carry a three-tonne helicopter and she is also accompanied by a nine-metre and six-metre tender. Her full-beam main saloon is said by the brokers to be "probably the largest on a yacht of this size".

Asking €29,750,000 (VAT paid) with Camper & Nicholsons International .

Length : 55m Builder : Amels

Papa was built in steel and aluminium to a design by Tim Heywood and is one of Amels's popular 180 Limited Editions superyachts. Her crowning glory is referred to as the split-level sun deck, offering guests open-air dining with a Teppanyaki grill, an eight-person Jacuzzi and a flip-down television. The yacht is made extra versatile thanks to a touch-and-go helipad that doubles as a socialising space with movable loungers and sun pads.

Asking €39,000,000 with Burgess .

Length : 53m Builder : Alloy Yachts

Drumbeat was delivered by New Zealand-based yard Alloy Yachts in 2002. Her large wraparound windows by Dubois Naval Architects welcome an abundance of light and 360-degree views into the main saloon. Coffee and cream-tone interiors are courtesy of George Spencer , where glossy woods are offset by cream furnishings. The large flybridge acts as the principal helm position – encouraging lots of active participation when sailing.

Asking €22,000,000 with Groupe Atalante.

Were Dreams

Length : 52.3m Builder : Amels

Were Dreams was designed by Tim Heywood and delivered in 2008 as the first in Amels' line of 171 Limited Edition models. Her spacious sundeck is one of the many changes that were made to standard during construction – it was redesigned with a Jacuzzi surrounded by sunpads. Her full-beam master suite is complemented by an additional single cabin on the main deck which can be used for extra guests or personal staff.

Asking €24,000,000 with Camper & Nicholsons International .

Length: 50.5m Builder: Trinity Yachts

Built of aluminium to ABS classification, Sapphire, designed by  James McFarlane , was delivered in 2009 . She has "flexible" accommodation and can sleep up to 20 guests in seven staterooms. The owner's suite, which includes a large bathtub, is located up on the bridge deck and has sliding glass doors opening to the deck aft. Sapphire is a proven world-class motor yacht, having spent the past few years cruising extensively in remote areas of Southeast Asia.

Asking $19,500,000 with Superyacht Sales & Charter.

Length : 49.9m Builder : Tankoa Yachts

Grey is the latest launch from Tankoa Yachts and joined the market shortly after her launch earlier this year as the fifth in the shipyard's S501 series. She is named after her "whisper grey" hull and, in a key departure from her sisterships, features a foredeck, with a larger-than-usual swimming pool and a show-stopping Cseed foldable 144-inch cinema screen that pops up from the deck. Grey is listed for sale with Jean-Claude Carme of TWW Yachts as the owner eyes up a larger build.

Asking €36,500,000 with TWW Yachts .

Length : 49.9m Builder : Turquoise Yachts

Mosaique is offered for sale fresh from a refit with a new beach house-style interior, engine rebuild, bottom paint job and a new "blue marlin" hull colour. She is MCA-coded with a strong charter reputation and accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins. These comprise a master suite and VIP suite on the main deck, while on the lower deck are three doubles and a twin, all with entertainment centres, flatscreen televisions and en-suite bathroom facilities.

Asking $15,500,000 with IYC .

Length : 49.8m Builder : Heesen

Used only privately and still under original ownership, My Loyalty was delivered in 2016 as the fifth hull in Heesen's 5000 series. Her sporty hull is finished in "shark grey" and complemented by a white superstructure, all styled by Omega Architects , with accommodation for 12. A 70-square-metre sundeck and a choice of five al fresco guest areas offer plenty of options for guests on board.

Asking €25,900,000 (VAT paid) with Edmiston .

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Forget the F1 – booking a berth is the real race...

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Image: Gareth Harford

Monaco. The billionaire’s playground. The kleptomaniac’s kryptonite. The ludomaniac’s lair. Superyacht city. Monaco is known as a fabulous place to spend money like wild (and to strut on a treadmill on the deck of your superyacht , whilst watching the F1).

Speaking of which, you might be interested to know how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix. To answer this burning question, DMARGE spoke to Istanbul-based luxury yacht manager Candaş Balci.

Balci told us just to book a fairly average berth in Monaco “for F1 week” was around 30 thousand euros “for a 35-meter motoryacht for a place which had no view of track but inside the port.”

Balci explained: “There are different parts in the marina which have different rates depending on where the yacht will be.”

“If it sees the track or not, price changes as well,” Bali told us.

“The berths which directly see the track were around 50-100K euro for the week, which is almost their yearly berth fee in a normal marina.” Candas Balci

Browsing through Reddit’s F1 Technical page, one user posts a link to a photo which purports to give a list of Monaco’s pricing for 2019. The prices which appear in the photo seem more or less consistent with the pricing Balci gave DMARGE.

Another Reddit user said: “My old landlord used to work on super yachts and also happened to introduce me to f1 so I can at least give you an anecdotal response. He said to rent the slip during the race week was around 100k and there was usually a 20k ‘offering to the port master’ as a separate transaction. He called it a bribe but I’m not sure it’s fair for me to use his characterization.”

RELATED: Hotel Staff Reveal The Wildest Rich Person Requests They’ve Ever Received

Forbes also wrote about this topic a number of years back. They reported: “To moor in one of the world’s most expensive marinas during high season, a superyacht owner can be expected to pay up to $4,130 per night, and during prime time events such as the Monaco Grand Prix rates can skyrocket to $100,000 or more for a five-day stay in Monaco’s prime berths.”

Monaco’s Port Hercules has 700 berths. Ac cording to 212 Yachts , “During the Monaco Grand Prix, the port is filled to capacity, with berths booked well in advance of the event.”

212 Yachts also says that to get yourelf a berth you need to complete a port application form. This is a highly competetive process.

“For the best chance of a successful application, it is essential to submit this form as early as possible,” 212 Yachts states.

“In order to do this, you must first select your charter yacht as technical details of the vessel must be specified on the form. Those directly associated with the Formula One, the Monaco Grand Prix and the event sponsors are fast tracked in the process, contributing to the extremely competitive nature of this process,” ( 212 Yachts ).

There you have it: you can add knowing how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco to your list of superyacht knowledge (which should also include knowing what it costs to spend a week on a superyacht in the medditeranean and why travelling around Europe on a superyacht is more stressful than you think ).

A Boat Builder From Monaco Is Revolutionizing The Yacht Industry

Yachts are getting boring.

While they are opulent, luxurious, and relaxing, radical innovation seems to have passed the industry by in some respects.

But one boatyard in the south of France is looking to change all of that. Called Wally , the company is the vision of Luca Bassani Antivari, an Italian who became dissatisfied with yachts that he could buy from shipyards.

In 1989, he built a yacht to his own exacting specifications and in 1994, Wally was born.

The company started off with sailing yachts but has now expanded to build some of the most incredible ships anywhere on the water. And the concepts they have in the pipeline should make yacht builders reconsider the status quo once again.

Antivari started in 1989 by making a sailing yacht that "combined the comfort and luxury of a large cruising yacht with the performance of a maxi-yacht racer."

Two years later, the Wallygator was born.

Antivari's concepts, like advanced, composite materials, easy handling, and a flush deck were revolutionary in the yachting industry.

poker face yacht monaco price

In 1994, Wally was officially formed to create custom sailing yachts for discerning customers.

poker face yacht monaco price

Over the next seven years, Wally introduced numerous innovations, including an 80-foot yacht that could be controlled by just one person.

poker face yacht monaco price

In 2001, the company entered the motor yacht business with one of the most radical ships ever commissioned: The Wally 118.

poker face yacht monaco price

Full carbon fiber construction and massive power made this an unreal ship to be onboard. It also looked fit for a super villain.

poker face yacht monaco price

Wally continued to expand and now has a full range of motor yachts.

poker face yacht monaco price

And it has some amazing concepts up its sleeve for the future. The Wally//Ace uses a unique hull design to fit far more living area than any other yacht its size.

poker face yacht monaco price

The Ace is also intended to be used as a personal yacht, meaning it does not require a crew.

poker face yacht monaco price

Something that will require a crew is the Wally//WHY. In a partnership with Hermes, Wally has devised this radical mega yacht concept.

poker face yacht monaco price

The WHY is a totally new concept for a luxury yacht. The sheer width of the stern is something far out of left field and isn't seen on yachts today.

poker face yacht monaco price

Yes, Wally Yachts are incredibly expensive. But these developments make for ships unlike anything else on the water.

poker face yacht monaco price

And recently, they have expanded into the world of skiing with these specially made carbon fiber skis.

A City at Sea: New Mega-Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

Mega Yacht Concept Resembles the Streets of Monaco

A sovereign city-state located in the French Riviera, Monaco is known as a “billionaire’s playground” for its lavish lifestyle, beautiful architecture, high-end casinos, and love for its famous annual street circuit race, The Monaco Grand Prix. The city also draws thousands of tourists every year, looking to soak in the stunning Mediterranean views and take a yacht ride through one of its many gorgeous harbors. Recently, Yacht Island Design , a boating design firm known for its out-of-this-world yacht concepts, has taken on a new project inspired by this French paradise’s luxury appeal, and there’s no other idea quite like it on the market today.

The Streets of Monaco is a 508-foot-long superyacht concept that has all the amenities of this beloved French province, wrapped into one over-the-top vessel. If built, it can house up to 16 guests and a crew of 70 to ensure a top-notch, individualized service experience for everyone onboard—all while cruising at a comfortable 15 mph at sea. What distinguishes this boat design from the rest, however, isn’t just its Mediterranean-style façade or its impressive size. The Streets of Monaco will deliver just what its name suggests—all the comforts and beauty of Monaco, including an onboard casino, racetrack, and stylized interiors that mimic the city’s iconic surroundings.

High Life on the High Seas

poker face yacht monaco price

When it goes into production, this imposing yacht will be from top to bottom an homage to the sumptuous beauty of Monaco. All of the must-see landmarks have been integrated into the boat’s clever design. Rooms inspired by everything from the Hotel de Paris to Lowes Hotel to the Monte Carlo Casino can be found throughout the vessel’s sprawling interior, and the Grand Atrium and Oasis areas offer airy foyer-like spaces that center the vessel’s living space and make passengers feel as though they never left land. The boat’s four decks contain a variety of living areas, each with Monaco-inspired interior designs, with lavish colors and ornate decorations that offer a slice of paradise and amazing ambience while away at sea.

poker face yacht monaco price

The deck of the ship is home to several sparkling swimming pools, overlooking the high seas, and of course, what over-the-top yacht wouldn’t come equipped with a helipad and a tennis court? Perhaps The Streets of Monaco’s most innovative concept, though, is its indoor racetrack, which allows up to three passengers to get out their checkered flags, hop in a go-kart, and race each other to their heart’s content. The boat’s exterior also reflects the towering roadways of Monaco, with its white colonnades, soaring arches, and castle-like structures. Inside, passengers can also ascend from the pool area via a marble staircase up to the ship’s spa area, where everyone onboard can melt their cares away with a massage or time in the sauna. This yacht concept—a marvel of modern engineering—is for owners who want to turn heads, and spark imaginations, while sailing into any harbor.

A Billion Dollar Investment

poker face yacht monaco price

The Streets of Monaco may look like an extension of this celebrated French province adrift at sea, but its staggering price tag is also reflective of the high-end residents and clientele who live there. At a staggering one billion dollar estimated production cost, this superyacht is only for the most well-to-do investors, who want to spend some serious time away from the cares of land-living and get lost at sea—if only for a while. Purchasing this yacht is like buying a floating estate, however, offering a dance hall, thousands of square feet of cozy living space, and sundecks with private jacuzzis, among other things. For the world’s wealthiest—and luckiest—patrons, this Monaco dreamboat, and all of its stunning features, can become an enviable, larger than life reality.

A Closer Look at the $400 Million Superyacht Streets of Monaco

The country of Monaco has long been an isle of luxury and extreme pleasure. It's a premier destination for vacationers who prefer to take their holidays in grand style, and for the very rich and famous with a penchant for gambling, entertainment, and a hearty nightlife. A fair share of the jet-setting crowd enjoy spending at least a portion of their holidays on the streets of Monaco and one billionaire was so inspired that he ordered the commission of a superyacht to capture the opulence and extravagance of the locale in a recreation that is named for the country in the famed $400 million Streets of Monaco. To fully appreciate the splendor of this floating paradise, we take a closer look at this artistic and expensive rendition.

History of the superyacht Streets of Monaco

In 2015, the Streets of Monaco superyacht was just a concept. When news of its commission was revealed they were assumed to be rumors of wishful thinking, much like a fantasy that seemed unlikely to ever be realized. For a couple of years, there was the talk of a bold concept that would create a replica of many of the most famous landmarks found in the country of Monaco, captured on a large floating vessel, intended for the enjoyment of billionaires fond of locales such as the Hotel de Paris, La Rascasse, the Monte Carlo Casino, Cafe de Paris, Loews Hotel, and others. It was further rumored that the superyacht would cost an astronomical $1.1 billion to construct, but this, was an unsubstantiated rumor because when the ship was finally completed, much to the surprise of yachting enthusiasts who saw it as a pipe dream, the actual cost would be closer to $400 million.

Who's commissioning the Streets of Monaco?

To lend credence to the rumors, we did a fair amount of research and learned that this yacht doesn't actually exist, well, not yet anyway. The Island Design yacht company of the United Kingdom presented the blueprint for the yacht back in 2011. The design team from Island Design remarked that this vessel would be more like a floating city than it would a yacht. The billionaire backing the building of the Streets of Monaco is none other than Russian magnate Roman Abramovich, owner of The Eclipse yacht, according to this article .

The proposed specifications and amenities

Construction of the Streets of Monaco? couldn't confirm one way or another if it has begun but we do have information about the proposed specifications and at least some of the amenities. The ship is designed to be 500 feet in length with a replica of the streets found in Monaco with miniature replications of popular landmarks n Monaco including the Hotel de Paris, tennis courts and swimming pools. The Atrium will link the main living areas together including a network of seven guest suites with individual bedrooms, balconies, dressing rooms, bathrooms, and reception areas. The capacity of the ship will be 70 crew members for daily maintenance and operation and 16 guests. In addition, there will be a tunnel complex extending around the deck for the Monaco Grand Prix go-kart track. The plans also include an area for storing smaller yachts for VIP travel to and from the main ship.

The Streets of Monaco will also feature several casinos on board along with luxury resorts if you can picture this on board a yacht. Jacuzzi bars, a cinema, libraries, helipads, a submarine, underwater restaurants, and waterfalls are also included in the plans. There will also be recreations of a beach-inspired pool, cafe bars, barbecue facilities and interior opulence the likes of which this world has not yet seen, according to LuxeHabitat. There is also slated to be a basketball court, a dance hall, a full spa and hair salon and this is just what is known about the initial plans.

Will the fantasy ever be brought to life?

There has been a lot of speculation over the past eight years about the credibility of this design and as to whether or not it is even feasible. The Island Design company who currently holds the blueprints believe wholeheartedly that it is possible. The only element that is missing is a billionaire that is willing to commission the construction. There have been no concrete announcements about whether or not Abramovich has signed off on the construction, and according to the director of Yacht Island Design, Scott, Poxon, this requirement has yet to be satisfied.

Final thoughts

The Streets of Monaco is a lovely dream which one day may become a reality, but as of now, it's locked away in the minds of the designers in a set of blueprints waiting for someone to step up to the plate with the necessary funding to commission the building of this $400 million dream yacht. One thing is for certain, it would be the biggest and most expensive yacht on the ocean, but it could possibly be considered a floating city, given the amenities and onboard operations which would give it the full functionality of a city floating on the ocean. Resorts, hotels, casinos, restaurants, a Grand Prix in a miniature version, transportation via submarine, helicopter or yacht, and we're assuming that the communications technology would also be quite advanced. It's nice to dream but this is one dream that could possibly become a reality in the near future.

The Prices & Parties Aboard the Iconic Yachts of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix

poker face yacht monaco price

It’s a bona fide showcase of opulence. Here’s what you need to know about the yachts at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The most expensive weekend in sports is here. Formula 1 drivers will take their talents to the French Riviera on Sunday for the Monaco Grand Prix. Sure, fans mainly flock to watch their favorite driver make the podium, but this particular race is also an excuse to show off one’s latest luxury toys.

In this case, it’s the super-yachts that provide the most picturesque backdrop for the complicated track.

Attending a Formula 1 race is already a bucket-list experience. Watching it from the upper deck of a multi-million-dollar aquatic behemoth? Not many can say they’ll have that opportunity. Logistically speaking, finding yourself on one of those things isn’t guaranteed. You either have to be the owner of the ship, know said owner personally, or eclipse celebrity status that will automatically grant you an invitation if you are even in the general vicinity.

The illustrious Port Hercules marina is the hottest place to be over the next few days, so let’s take a look at what it takes to find yourself amongst Hollywood A-listers and their Very Important Friends.

Get on our list for weekly sports business, industry trends, interviews, and more.

  • Inside the Boardroom

Securing a spot on the water is no easy feat. Many opt to rent one for the weekend, which certainly comes at a hefty price tag. According to The Sports Rush , there are 760 berths up for grabs, and the least expensive will run you $3,800 a night. But it’s no guarantee that price will grant you an acceptable vantage point of the race. If that’s a priority, then expect to pay at least $110,000 a night. Keep in mind, that doesn’t even include food, drinks, entertainment, and anything else to make your super-yacht the most exclusive of the bunch. Also, yachts perched along the inner docks of Port Hercules have a length restriction of 30 meters.

For those looking to experience opulence without the possession of a boat, there’s an option for that. Enter the super-yacht hospitality package. As Yacht Charter Fleet describes, you can still be among the who’s-who in Monte Carlo, and even get a trackside vantage point of the race. Because they don’t come with the responsibility of managing a boat, demand for this option is incredibly high. In fact, many secure their spots for next year immediately following this year’s festivities. All the same benefits like access to premier dining and extravagant amusement are still included.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by AMBER LOUNGE (@amberloungeltd)

Billed as the most prestigious hospitality package in Monaco, Amber Lounge is an immersive experience that aims to please. Securing a pass here is like finding a golden ticket for a trip to the Willy Wonka factory — except you’re likely feasting on the rarest of chocolate available. At this VIP spot, expect to network with F1 drivers, celebrities in town for the Cannes Film Festival, and if you’re lucky, royalty. Some of the must-attend events include fashion shows, charity events, dinners prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, and more. Individual passes for the lounge run €600 ($642) a person and climb up to €35,000 ($37,459) for a semi-private VIP suite table for 10 with free-flowing beverages and champagne. As for the yacht’s hospitality, a weekend experience aboard a cabin includes race viewing tickets, gourmet meals and afternoon tea, an open bar, and a live DJ for a cool €5,100 ($5,458) a person.

Who Owns the Largest Yacht in Monaco?

With all this talk about luxury, it certainly begs the question: What is the largest vessel? That so happens to be The Octopus , which was constructed for the late Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and former owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Sounders. Measuring 414 feet long, The Octopus is worth $285 million and comfortably sleeps 12 guests. It has two helipads, a basketball court, a movie theater, and its own pool. The price to rent the yacht for a week is almost as extravagant as the amenities it offers, coming in at an overwhelming $2.2 million.

Here are more details about Octopus: The garage alone is 118 feet and holds 7 tenders, several jet skis, and a 10-person submarine. The boat was previously owned by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, costing $20M to operate each year. LISTEN: https://t.co/PRBcQMVf14 pic.twitter.com/E3924hDL7r — Joe Pompliano (@JoePompliano) May 25, 2023

In January, seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and Olympic medalist Shaun White famously rented The Octopus to cruise around Antarctica, taking the continent’s breathtaking views, stunning wildlife, and more. Hamilton is set to race in Monaco, which he has won three times.

Monaco event highlights also include The Rolex Masters , and the phenomenal Monaco Yacht Show in September: the undisputed apex of the yachting calendar.

How to do the F1 Monaco Grand Prix like a VIP

A Monaco yacht rental vacation offers a mesmerizing selection of things to see and do. Here is our top picks of some of the most outstanding:

Don't Miss:

  • Monte Carlo Casino : Founded in 1863, the casino is arguably one of the most iconic buildings on the French Riviera, and has been immortalised on the silver screen several times over, from the likes of James Bond, Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca and Ocean's Eleven  to name a few.
  • Salle Garnier opera house : Added in 1878 to offer additional entertainment to visitors, adjacent to the casino the exquisite Belle Époque facade was designed by Charles Garnier and features a grand hall with seating for 524 patrons.
  • Le Jardin Japonaise : Designed in 1994 by a Japanese architect at the request of Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace, the Japanese Garden offers a Zen retreat that spans almost two acres and features a waterfall, small mountain, pond and tea house.
  • Monaco Grand Prix : Illustrious sporting fixture held annually in May, drawing the world’s glitterati to its shores for the prestigious race and glamorous yachting scene.
  • Le Jimmy’z : Iconic night club which plays host to A-listers and Hollywood ingénues, where international DJs play their sets as the rich and famous mingle outdoors on the terrace and Japanese garden
  • Oceanographic Museum : Perched on cliffs overlooking the glittering Mediterranean, the museum is home to an array of fascinating marine exhibits spread over 5 levels, including interactive displays, tactile pool, Whale Room and ImmerSEAve 360º virtual reality transporting visitors to the depths of the ocean.
  • Cathédrale de Monaco : Built on a site that dates back to the 13th century, the cathedral has played a significant role in the history of the Monegasque royal family.
  • Larvotto Beach : This man-made stretch of pale cream sands offers visitors a relaxing sun-kissed haven where you can enjoy table service as you top up your tan. The newly revamped complex also boasts an array of cafes, bars and restaurants lined along its pine-shaded promenade.

With the grandeur of a bygone era, Monaco's diminutive dimensions belie the rarefied bubble it attracts: long graced by stars, royalty and the SuperyachtSet, the country's iconic marina is a superyacht extraordinaire. Bestowed with bars and boutiques nearby, cradled by soaring hills that are etched with the eye-poppingly ornate royal palace, and the Belle Époque twin glories of Casino de Monte-Carlo and opera house Salle Garnier a mere saunter away, Port Hercule is ablaze with the world's glitterati each summer.

This picturesque coastal nation is the world’s smallest country, after the Vatican, and is renowned as a haven for the rich and famous, who enjoy the Monaco’s tax-free status and glamorous locales.

In 1297, the Grimaldi family settled in Monaco after the land was granted to Genoa by Emperor Henry IV, with ancestors of the family controlling the principality ever since. In 1949, Prince Rainier III ascended the throne, and married Grace Kelly in 1956. The prince played an important role in bringing economic prosperity to the area, while his American actress wife was instrumental in promoting arts and culture and bringing glamor to the small nation.

The principality’s tax-free status and no income tax has attracted many rich residents, who have also played their part in shaping this tiny glittering enclave into the JetSet destination it is today. Monaco’s rich cultural influences can also be attributed to its neighbors France , Italy & Spain , with Roman Catholicism making up over two thirds of its resident’s religious beliefs.

Port Hercules Monaco

Perched with poise above the cornflower-blue waters of the Mediterranean , motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Monaco are in prime position to explore the wonders of the encircling French Riviera, such as Villefranche-sur-Mer,  St. Tropez , Nice and Cannes , as well as venturing further afield to the Italian Riviera . Unsure what type of charter for Monaco to choose? Below we've highlighted the main points of difference.

Motor yachts lined up in Port Hercules marina in Monaco

A crewed motor yacht charter in Monaco beckons guests with its decadent allure, entirely in keeping with the principality's chichi surrounds. Think your own private chef, five-star hotel service and amenities onboard your plush paradise. With a yacht charter itinerary put together entirely to meet your needs, make the most of your freedom at sea and anchor at otherwise inaccessible bays dotted along the glittering shore.

Sailing yachts moored in a Port Hercules marina in Monaco

If you are looking to lap up the splendor of Monaco and the nearby cruising grounds of France at a slower rhythm (combined with considerable outdoor deck space) a sailing yacht charter is an ideal fit. Coupled with Monaco's enviable climate, averaging more than 300 days of sunshine per year, you'll bronze in timeless style.

There is a multitude of charter yachts available in and around Monaco, given its prime position on the French Riviera and as one of the most popular West Mediterranean yacht charter destinations among the SuperyachtSet. With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget. For convenience we have listed the average prices for motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Monaco below;

  • For motor yacht rentals in Monaco, prices can range from $31,319 to $1.6m per week, plus expenses
  • For luxury sailing yacht rentals in Monaco, prices can go from $30,130 to $542,712 weekly, plus expenses

As well as the Monaco yacht charter fee itself (plus any delivery or redelivery costs), you will need to pay VAT. But how much does VAT cost for yacht charters in Monaco? Below are the main points you need to consider before chartering:

  • The new rules, which came into force in 2020, state that VAT on charters starting in Italy, France and Monaco is now applied at the country's full VAT rate at the origin of the charter, i.e. the port of embarkation.
  • The standard rate of VAT is 20% for charters originating in either Monaco or France. This applies regardless of the port of disembarkation.
  • For itineraries incorporating other countries, VAT will always be applied at the rate of the country of origin. So, if the charter commences in France or Monaco the rate is 20%, if the charter begins in Italy the rate is 22%.

The best time to visit Monaco varies on your intentions. Head out in May or September if you are looking to see and be seen at one of its world-renowned events, but avoid these months if you are after something more tranquil in nature. Opt for June and August when the temperature peaks, or October for clement weather and warm waters but fewer crowds.

  • Monaco is eminently a walkable city, however it can be quite steep with lots of hills and flights of steps. For anyone with accessibility issues, the region offers a series of public elevators (ascenseurs publics) dotted around the various wards.
  • Port Hercules is one of the most sought-after berths globally and you will need to book months in advance if you are looking for a slip during the high season.
  • At peak times, it's worth visiting popular sites early. Shops and businesses don't tend to open until around 10am, so anytime before this tends to be relatively crowd-free.
  • The closest airport to Monaco is Nice, complete with a dedicated private jet terminal. Monaco also has a number of heliports available that guests may take advantage of.
  • When venturing through Monaco taxis are the best mode of transport, but can prove hard to come by during high season events.

With its A-lister appeal, rich arts and culture and array of world-class events, Monaco is undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean . Therefore, we advise you to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to secure your perfect yacht on your preferred dates. If you leave it too late, the selection of yachts at your disposal will be reduced and you may not be able to explore the destinations you have your heart set on. Plus, finding dates when everyone in your charter party is available can be tricky; the longer you leave it, the more challenging it will be.

Monaco Yacht Charter Q&A

We strongly advise booking your yacht charter in Monaco at least three months in advance to ensure you get the yacht you desire. The longer you wait, the fewer choices you will have.

For most yacht rentals in Monaco to be secured, you will usually need to provide a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee as a deposit. This becomes payable once the contract has been signed.

May through till September are the ideal months to visit Monaco on a yacht charter.

Find the best Monaco yacht that meets your requirements by browsing on our website the selection of luxury motor yachts and sailing yachts to charter in Monaco. All you need to do is pick your chosen dates, number of guests, yacht type, features, and desired onboard toys and we'll show you what's available.

If you make a booking enquiry, a yacht charter broker will then contact you and craft a charter proposal for Monaco, tailored to your needs.

You'll find that there is a yacht to suit almost every budget in Monaco so rest assured that you will find a vessel suitable to your requirements.

But when booking do keep in mind the costs that aren't included in the base rate, namely VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). The APA is usually paid in advance of the charter and is commonly set at 30% of the charter fee. This allowance covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests.

Please consult your yacht charter broker in Monaco for any other costs you may need to factor in.

Port Hercule of Monaco - Berths for Stopovers - Very Limited Seasonal and Long-term Rental - No Leaseholds for Sale - Home to the Yearly Monaco Yacht Show and Monaco F1 GP

Berth Description

The PORT HERCULE is the main port of the Principality of Monaco and its heart. It is probably one of the most famous ports in the world, embodying with excellence glamour and luxury, welcoming boats, yachts and of course, the most magnificent Superyachts and Megayachts.

The PORT HERCULE offers all services and facilities for yachtsmen who can find here all commercial and leisure activities. It covers 16 hectares of protected waters. The PORT HERCULE is also the most famous amphitheatre of yachting in the world because of the events it welcomes every year, such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco or the Monaco Yacht Show.

The PORT HERCULE is a natural harbour located at the foot of the ancestral rock of the Princes of Monaco. It is one of the few ports of the Cote d’Azur in deep waters and is managed by the Societe d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco (SEPM). It can accommodate large size and tonnage vessels and cruise ships (up to 300 meters long). It has 700 berths (110 for yachts over 24 m), of which 30 are for visitors depending on availability.

Already used as a commercial port by the Greeks and the Romans (and named in ancient times “Portus Herculis Monoeci”), it was amply enlarged, protected and renovated, in the 70s, with colossal semi-floating jetties to preserve the flora and fauna, by HSH Prince Rainier III. HSH Prince Albert II, then continued the works begun by his father, reorganizing the water plan and constructing the brand new Monaco Yacht Club, to make PORT HERCULE, the most modern and practicable of the Western Mediterranean for large yachting.

Berths in this world yachting hub are much demanded and requests are very numerous. It is extremely difficult to rent a berth, even for a short time because the Ports of Monaco give priority to requests from Monegasque residents (long waiting list).

This is a luxurious and unforgettable way to discover the country's stunning coastlines, exotic waters, and remote locations. So, if you are looking for a luxurious holiday, a crewed yacht charter is the perfect way to enjoy the Greek islands.

When beginning a charter in Athens , the Saronic and Cyclades are the two major regions to be visited when sailing. The Saronic Islands offer calm seas, comfortable sailing distances between islands, and gorgeous scenery and beaches. The Cyclades are a little more suited to experienced sailors or those seeking adventurous sails. These islands are more exposed to the winds and the sea and can have large swells. This is not everyone’s cup of tea so to speak, so are not advised during high northern winds or for first time sailors. Besides all this, they are beautiful and have the typical white washed architecture usually seen on postcards or in magazines. They are renowned for their gold sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Both regions offer their own unique splendor and appeal. Your skipper will offer his expert advice, recommending the best itinerary suited to your group and for the weather present during your arrival.

No matter where you choose to go, sailing the seas in style and comfort is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Enjoy incredible views from your own terrace of the Mediterranean Sea. All crew members will be valuable hosts of the marvelous islands you will visit. Introducing you to the culture, hidden secrets, and the local way of life! We are almost certain upon completing your vacation, everyone would have made new friends as well as a beautiful change of perspective. Nothing like a great vacation to get the batteries charged and return to everyday life.

Explorer Dock inaugurated at Monaco Yacht Club

Posted by Staff Writer | Mar 22, 2024 | Yachting & Aviation

Explorer Dock inaugurated at Monaco Yacht Club

The inauguration ceremony of the first Explorer Dock took place at the Yacht Club de Monaco earlier this week, as part of the activities planned for the Ocean Week and under the aegis of ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting.’

The seven yachts displayed on the quay of the Club, M/Y Beyond Capricorn, M/Y Prometej, M/Y Audace, M/Y King Benji, S/Y NDS Evolution, M/Y U Boat Navigator and M/Y Santandrea, represent a combination of passion for adventure and innovation. Each one is designed to navigate beyond traditional boundaries and face the challenges of the oceans.

Capturing everyone’s attention on the quay was the christening of the brand new M/Y King Benji. Attending the event dedicated to the 46 metre megayacht, built by Dunya Yachts and designed by Greg Marshall, were many guests alongside the Yacht Club de Monaco General Secretary Bernard d’Alessandri.

“I am very humbled and proud to be here because it took years to build this yacht. It required a lot of passion, dedication and team work with Greg Marshall and other designers. And finally she’s here and we’re proud of it,” said Sedat Ergun, owner of Dunya Yachts. “We’re thriving to be a custom builder, we’re building many different yachts. Everyone’s different from each other. We love exploration. So when the client came to us, we loved it and we got on well since day one. It actually is a funny story because he came in as a crew member so we didn’t know he was the client. We talked about it and I said ‘we love the project’ and I think he felt the passion about it,” he added. Everything started from a sketch. “I flew to a meeting with the owner and he described what he was looking for and why he couldn’t buy it anywhere in the world. So I pulled out a piece of paper and just started drawing and in the first minutes he said ‘that’s it.’”

“We adjusted the sketches and it was just what you see here and it never happens. The boat is what I’d design for myself. We had a full-sized mock up build of the boat so we could walk through it 4-5 years ago. And now to see it here surrounded by the Yacht Club it just makes your skin tingle,” said Greg Marshall.

The Environmental Symposium, a day of conference for the industry, owners and captains, took place on Thursday, March 21, organised in collaboration with The Explorer’s Club of New York.

A large delegation from the US is visiting the Club and taking part not only in all the ‘explorer’ activities on the quay but also in regattas, sailing experiences involving for example the YCM flagship Tuiga.

On Thursday and Friday the Monaco Smart Yacht Rendezvous took place, organised in partnership with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and YCM, a natural extension of the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous.
