The St. Petersburg Power and Sailboat Show, Presented by Progressive, is set for January 18-21, 2024 with tickets at $21 for adults and free for kids 15 and under. The 2023 Monaco Yacht Show Round Up

2023 marks the 32nd edition of the most renowned superyacht show in the world. For 32 years, the Monaco Yacht Show has welcomed visitors from around the world to discover the latest and greatest from all areas of the superyacht industry. Despite its incredible heritage, this year was truly remarkable in every single aspect.

When pondering over the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), superyachts, luxury and grandiose often come to mind. The 2023 edition, however, was an honest showcase of how, in reality, the annual September show is so much more.

Superyachts.com were honoured to welcome Managing Director of the MYS, Gaëlle Tallarida, to our interview studio during the show, where she shared more about the organisers' dedication to making the event a place to not only marvel at superyachts, but a place to learn, share and discover, with the visitor experience indispensable. This has certainly come to fruition, with a growing programme for VIP attendees including separate entrances and a new Sapphire Programme, an initiative selecting guests wanting to buy or charter a superyacht. 

Of course, what would the September show be without superyachts? 117 vessels, including 3 remarkable catamarans were berthed in the iconic Port Hercule for the annual MYS this year. Incredibly, 45 of these superyachts were new builds launched in 2023, with 16 other vessels launched or refitted in 2022. According to figures from the show, 61 yachts on display this year were less than two years old, accounting for a momentous 52% of the total MYS fleet. 

58 of these yachts were presented by shipyards and 59 were presented by brokers, to ensure a diverse collection of new builds, charter and brokerage vessels. Alongside superyachts, 61 luxury tenders were on display, including two extraordinary submarines. 

Aside from superyachts and tenders, MYS offers the perfect display for those looking for the adventurous side of the yachting experience. The Adventure Area was home to 30 cars and motorcycles as well as two helicopters: offering a truly immersive experience for all visitors.

Excellence and innovation are two words that perfectly summarise the exhibitors of the 2023 MYS. Shipyards, brokers, designers, naval architects, service providers, marine manufacturers; the list goes on in regard to the diverse array of exhibitors on display this year. A total of 560 carefully selected exhibitors showcased their new products, latest innovations and recent projects, as well as shared insights about their goals and plans for the coming year until the next show. 28 industry conferences also took place over the four days, providing the perfect platform to listen and discuss several topics with industry leaders and specialists. 

Things were just as busy at the Superyachts.com stand, with over 70 interviews conducted over the four days. We were delighted to welcome a number of industry CEOs and company Founders, to hear the breaking news as it happened. Interviews during the day and parties at night, the epitome of work hard, play hard, Superyachts.com were thrilled to host a Tacos and Tequila party for Amandine Chefs, as well as Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority’s annual English Harbour Rum party. Just across the Port from the Superyachts.com stand, M/Y BG CHARADE held hundreds of guests for a lavish evening with ALBA , supported by Superyachts.com.

As the celebratory horns echoed around Port Hercule this evening, the 32nd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show has officially come to a close. Back for its highly anticipated 46th edition, the Cannes Yachting Festival is a staple event for both the yachting and social calendars of Cannes.

Scheduled to run from 12-17 September 2023, this show is one of the leading in-water yacht shows in Europe. The Cannes Yachting Festival attracts around 700 boats each year, which are divided between two iconic marinas; Vieux Port and Port Canto.

Setting itself aside from many other yachting events, the Cannes show offers visitors rare opportunities to indulge in sea trials on various motor yachts and luxury yacht charters , providing a first-hand experience of the yachting lifestyle at its best.

What to expect

Globally renowned for being one of the must-see yachting events of the year, attending the show will naturally introduce visitors to some of the biggest names and yachts on the market. Over 100 models make their global debut at the event each year, in addition to a host of toys and tender displays, showcasing the latest innovative developments in the industry.  

Highlights of the 2023 edition will include the new floating exhibition of small boats with sizes ranging between 8 and 12 metres. Relocated from the land-based exhibition area on the Quai Max Laubeuf, organizers of the event have created a new dedicated area in the heart of Vieux Port to showcase the smaller models in a new light.

But with all the spectacular new yachts in the marina, visitors can also get excited about a trip down memory lane, with an incredible collection of vintage boats with the annual Concours D'Elegance display.

Paired perfectly with a vibrant social scene, the popular Cote d'Azur event enhances the already enticing environment with a selection of side attractions and events.

Premium shopping at the Luxury Gallery prepares all charter guests for an indulgent West Mediterranean charter , with a specially curated selection of prestige retailers from fashion, jewelry, real estate and nautical niches.

For inspiration, visitors to the show can witness adrenaline-pumping watersports demonstrations with equipment often found on luxury yacht charter packages. Some of the activities include paddle boarding, Jet skis and flyboarding. 

Chartering Cannes

As one of the major highlights adorning the South of France , Cannes is a chartering destination not to be missed.

With social events sprinkled throughout the year at the famous Palais des Festivals, and of course within the marina, there are ample opportunities to see and be seen at some of the most prestigious events in France .

Brightline handy shortcut from West Palm to Fort Lauderdale Boat Show: What to know before you go

W hether you're the son of a son of a sailor or a landlubber who just happens to love boats, there's something for everyone at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2023 that is happening Wednesday, Oct. 25 to Sunday, Oct. 29.

And if the fear of having to battle traffic from here to there has kept you from driving to the biggest of all boat shows in the past, there's a new work-around from West Palm Beach that might be worth reconsidering: The Brightline train can get you there.

Spread out over seven locations in the yachting capital of the world, the 64th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will have over a thousand boats on display along with thousands of exhibitors representing 52 countries.

Owned by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida and produced by Informa Markets, it is reported to be the largest in-water boat show in the world.

The event will showcase yachts from some of the world's leading manufacturers including Tiara, Majesty Yachts, Princess Yachts, Sunreef Yachts, Sportsman Boats and more.

It will also include fishing boats, runabouts and cruisers along with marine accessories, fishing equipment, diving accessories and personal watercraft.

The massive, though easily accessible show, will be spread across these locations: the Broward County Convention Center, Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Las Olas Marina, Hall of Fame Marina, SuperYacht Village at Pier 66 South, Pier 66 Marina and 17th Street Yacht Basin.

At the BCCC there will be an 'Aquazone,' which will provide an exhibition of must-have water sports and marine products and a 'Kids Corner' where guests can enjoy a family-friendly experience with face paining, marine arts & crafts with The Blue Wild and kids fishing clinics with Captain Don Dingman .

Guests will also get an up-close look at vehicles from FLIBS' proud truck and towing partner, Ford.

More to enjoy than just yachts at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

Spread throughout the event will be over 100 food concessions and satellite bars. If you're craving it they've probably got it. Enjoy street tacos, hand-crafted burgers, Greek gyros, woodfired picanha, stone crab claws, calamari, oysters and much more.

Need a tasty beverage to wash down that goodness? Check out the Goslings’ Dark ‘N Stormy Island Bar, Anheuser-Busch Island Beer Garden, Stella Artois Barge, the Island Cocktail Barge and more.

Though the BCCC will serve as the official transportation hub of the event and has over 3,000 parking spots, if you're planning to travel from Orlando, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Aventura or Miami to the event there's another, perhaps more appealing option.

How to take the Brightline to the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show

Brightline trains will allow attendees from Orlando, West Palm Beach, Boca , Aventura and Miami to skip the traffic and parking.

After arriving at the Fort Lauderdale Brightline Station , there is a shuttle that will take guests to a water taxi on the New River. That water taxi can then take boat show attendees to the six marinas and the Broward County Convention Center. There is also the option of taking the water taxi to the Bahia Mar Yachting Center and then hopping on a shuttle to get to the Superyacht Village at Pier 66, Pier 66 Marina, 17th Street Yacht Basin and the BCCC.

In addition to avoiding traffic or parking headaches, people taking the Brightline can get from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale in as little as 35 minutes. Furthermore, Brightline's in-station Mary Mary bars will be serving a specialty drink, the Rumgroni, featuring Havana Club rum, for the duration of the show.

The cost for a one-way ticket leaving from West Palm Beach on Wednesday and Thursday starts at $19 and goes up to $24 Friday through the weekend. Check the Brightline website for more information and to buy tickets.

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2023

What: The world's biggest boat show, featuring more than 1,000 boats

Where: seven locations in Fort Lauderdale including Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd.; Las Olas Marina, 240 E. Las Olas Circle; Hall of Fame Marina, 435 Seabreeze Blvd.; SuperYacht Village at Pier 66 South, 2150 SE 17th St.; Pier 66 Marina, 2301 SE 17th St.; Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd.; and 17th Street Yacht Basin, 1881 SE 17th St.

Parking: There is a park-and-ride service at the Broward County Convention Center for $25 per day. You can also park at the city's various garages and pay those parking rates via app.

When: noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, Friday, Oct. 27, Saturday, Oct. 29; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29.

Cost: one-day adult tickets are $42, two-day adult tickets are $70, one-day child (ages 6 to 15) $16, under 6 free with ticketed adult. There also various VIP packages available.

West Palm chooses Boat Show-backed company to build a $16 million Flagler Drive marina

The city commission chose city harbor llc to build a 'world-class marina' but gave west palm beach residents little time to weigh in..

West Palm Beach will begin negotiations with City Harbor LLC to build a $16 million marina off Flagler Drive that will generate an estimated $324,000 per year for the city and protect one of its signature cultural events, the Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Backing from Informa, the international events firm that puts on the boat show, was critical to City Harbor's proposal, which beat out one submitted by Safe Harbor LLC, the largest owner and operator of marinas in the world.

"This is a very exciting day for our city," Mayor Keith James said. "Just the opportunity to discuss having a world-class marina on the front door of our waterfront is extremely exciting."

The marina negotiations are a major step forward in a process that started two years ago, when City Harbor made an unsolicited bid to expand the city's two docks into a marina.

Rather than accept City Harbor's proposal, the city announced its intention to consider other proposals for a marina.

Three firms submitted plans and projections — City Harbor, Safe Harbor and Leisure Resorts LLC, which ultimately dropped out of the running.

James and city commission members held a special meeting on Monday to decide whether to rank and choose a bidder and begin negotiations, delay the process or end it.

Commissioner Christy Fox argued in favor of delaying a decision to give the public more time to weigh in, but her colleagues voted to rank and choose a bidder and begin negotiations. Fox initially refused to rank either bidder, but, after City Attorney Kimberly Rothenburg told her she was required to offer a ranking, she joined James and three of her Commission colleagues in ranking City Harbor first and Safe Harbor second.

Commissioner Cathleen Ward, who had noted the far larger revenue projections Safe Harbor included in its proposal, ranked Safe Harbor first and City Harbor second.

Why did West Palm choose City Harbor for the marina?

The way the city decided to move forward with City Harbor — no request for proposals process, no public meetings with dueling proposals upon which the public could comment or shape — appeared to frustrate Fox, just as it frustrated a Downtown Development Authority board member, who spoke to The Palm Beach Post anonymously because of fears of retribution.

"Normally, with a project like this, the city would do all sorts of outreach," the board member said. "I'm all for a public-private recreational use, but the public should have been involved in specifying what that recreational use was."

The city has seen other large development projects hit snags as they undergo public scrutiny and feedback.

The most notable instance of that occurred with the Sunset Lounge , a 1920s-era supper club the city has rebuilt with at least $16 million in public money. Multiple firms vied for the lounge's management contract, and, after one was selected during a contentious, protracted public meeting, the city later determined the firm its violated anti-lobbying rules.

The city moved to the second-place management bidder, but determined that it, too, violated anti-lobbying rules. The first management bidder sued, arguing that it did not violate rules against lobbying. A judge ruled in its favor, but the legal questions surrounding who would manage the lounge has delayed its re-opening.

West Palm Beach avoided that type of drama with the rebuilding of its municipal golf course .

After a redevelopment project at the golfing site failed to get financing, James reached a handshake deal with Seth Waugh, chief executive of PGA of America, who asked for an exclusive period during which he would raise money to redesign the facility.

Waugh said he raised $53 million in donations to rebuild the course, which has drawn rave reviews from golf experts. But Waugh has refused to disclose who, specifically, paid for its reconstruction, and high prices at the course have drawn complaints from some golfers. It's not clear if the city has the authority to alter rates at a course it, technically at least, owns.

James said he was motivated to move forward with Waugh's vision for the golf facility because it included numerous community benefits, particularly for children.

That, he said Monday, is the reason he backed City Harbor's proposal, which foresees various programs at the marina that would give children and those who aren't wealthy equal access to the water.

What would the new West Palm marina feature?

City Harbor's proposal included sightseeing cruises from the marina, as well as ecotours, educational trips for children, a water taxi, day fishing trips and dive excursions.

West Palm Beach would retain ownership of the marina under City Harbor's proposal, which includes 84 slips for vessels as long as 130 feet.

City Harbor has proposed a 100-year management contract, though that term is subject to negotiation.

Safe Harbor's proposal is significantly different. It pledged to build a $34 million marina and retain ownership of it.

The firm's plans call for dinner and sunset cruises as well as water taxis at a marina that includes 97 slips for vessels as long as 284 feet.

Safe Harbor said it would pay the city a $500,000 acquisition fee for a 40-year lease with options for two 15-year extensions. The firm estimates its real estate taxes would be $250,000 per year, and it has promised to give the city $986,000 per year, which it estimates would equate to about 12% of its gross revenues from the marina.

Commissioners noted that Safe Harbor's proposal offered the city more money.

Commissioner Christina Lambert said, while she appreciates "the additional revenue that is on paper" as part of Safe Harbor's proposal, "for me, that wasn't the primary goal of this project."

She added: "Many times, we're presented with projects and we're looking at evaluating who is the best partner for the city, and, sometimes, we choose the one that isn't the most revenue for the city."

Safe Harbor, which came up with a marina project after City Harbor, was fighting an uphill battle once officials for the Palm Beach International Boat Show told commissioners City Harbor's marina plan was the only one that worked for the boat show.

What is the impact of the Palm Beach International Boat Show?

One study showed that the 2022 boat show had a statewide economic impact of $1 billion. Residents and others from far and wide crowd onto West Palm Beach's waterfront each spring, providing a steady stream of patrons for downtown restaurants and bars.

After questioning from James, Safe Harbor officials said they had discussions with the boat show and that its marina project would be a fit.

"From where I sit, I wasn't satisfied with the answer to the boat show question that I asked," he said. "There were a lot of word gymnastics there that didn't really address the issue. There must be a reason why the boat show went with one of them and not the other."

Boat show support for City Harbor's plan was critical, as James and other commissioners cited it in discussing the dueling proposals.

"The boat show is very important to our city," James said. "It's a tremendous economic driver. And anything that can be done to ensure the future of the boat show of our city, I think, is in the city's best interests."

Seattle Boat Show 2024 Guest Survey Results Improve from 2023

Over 2,000 guests completed the survey created by GMA Research and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive! The survey measured the importance of show features, ticket prices, show hours, shuttles, seminars, food, beverages, promotions and more. Verbatim responses collected from guests and YOY comparison from research in 2023 allows NMTA to understand if the show is meeting attendee expectations. Key findings this year were:

We are pleased the survey shows a vastly positive guest experience, with areas of strength to maintain and areas for improvement to address in future shows.

Even from the very beginning of the year, TV fans had a plethora of intriguing shows to watch and look forward to, ranging from new shows debuting in 2023 to older series returning with new seasons . While some of these shows exceeded expectations, others were less than stellar, but one this was clear — there were way too many. It's a hell of a task navigating the thousands of TV series from cable, network, streaming, and international television. This list narrows it all down and focuses on some of the year's top shows, emphasizing their brilliance and impact.

Netflix, Peacock, Max, Prime Video, and other streaming services have provided fans with a wealth of amazing series for the year. 2023 began with riveting dystopian tales like The Last of Us from HBO and the innovative experimental comedy Paul T. Godlman on Peacock, followed by modern tales about the relentless pursuit of power and wealth like Succession . It subsequently ventured towards profound period dramas delving into royal romance, such as Queen Charlotte on Netflix. Netflix continued to dominate much of the television landscape with shows like Beef, One Piece, and The Fall of the House of Usher . Meanwhile, some of our favorite shows came to an end.

Here are the best new and returning TV shows of 2023, based on:

23 Good Omens Season 2

Exploring angels and demons has long been a fascination in Hollywood, but it's stunningly executed in Good Omens , a wonderful, stylish, and humorous fantasy. Season one followed angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley as they join up to stop the Antichrist with the help of an 11-year-old boy. The production design is phenomenal, and the chemistry between Michael Sheen's Aziraphale and David Tennant's Crowley has led to legions of devoted fans.

Season 2 of Good Omens Continues the Sheen and Tenant Bromance

The second season, in particular, returns with the same heart and hilarity as the beloved first season. Despite having thwarted the Armageddon and having little to do but please the modern fandom, the outing proves to be one of television’s most thoroughly entertaining takes on the absurdity of life. Elizabeth Olsen Is Perfect in HBO Miniseries

For fans of true crime, Max’s seven-episode miniseries offers a visually stunning and intriguing narrative that should not be missed. The series manages to transport viewers to the 1980s and '70s through the outstanding settings and nostalgic soundtracks. Elizabeth Olsen also delivers a convincing portrayal of the quiet housewife with a complicated interior; she is truly in her element, and makes Love & Death better than Candy , another series based on this true story of a grisly murder in small-town Texas.

Developed by Alice Birch and based on the 1988 film of the same name by David Cronenberg, Dead Ringers features Rachel Weisz in the lead roles as the Mantel twins, a pair of famous gynecologists determined to change the birthing process for women. The show is thought-provoking and a disturbing exploration of birth and sexuality that is certainly not for everyone. However, for those seeking a well-crafted adaptation of the original film, and who can tolerate its occasionally graphic and always morbid content, this series is a must-watch.

Rachel Weisz Pulls Double Duty in a Very Dark and Disturbing Drama

While Dead Ringers deviates from the source material through gender-swapping of the main characters and other elements, it still delves into weighty themes such as suicide, childbirth, addiction, the nature of pain, and humanity's lack of empathy. Weisz also delivers an absolutely brilliant performance, effortlessly portraying both Elliot and Beverly Mantle in the role that Jeremy Irons played in Cronenberg's original.

Barry Ends in Season 4 Before It's Too Late

With a masterful blend of comedy and drama, Barry presents a realistic and refreshing approach to death and violence, setting it apart from many other dark comedies. It is dark, funny and unique in its own way, delivering plenty of action, suspense and tension to keep viewers thoroughly entertained. Not to mention, the exceptional performances by the cast (especially Henry Winkler in his greatest performance) further enhance the brilliant nature of the show. Ultimately, Barry was getting to a place where things were too illogical and absurd, so it was a wise decision to bow out in season four.

Texas crowned 2024 ncaa di rowing national champions.

Texas clinched the 2024 DI rowing national championship after coming in first place with 130 points. Stanford came in second with 127 points. This marks the Longhorn's third championship title in program history.

The 2024 NCAA DI rowing championship selections were announced on May 21 . The championships run from Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2 at East Fork/Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio (hosted by Marietta College and the Cincinnati USA Sports Commission).

Taylor Swift and Matty Healy’s love story has come to an end .

“They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight on Monday.

“Taylor’s friends want what’s best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship,” they added, referencing the “All Too Well” singer’s split from Joe Alwyn in April.

Just hours earlier, a friend close to the situation told TMZ that Swift is “single” again — just one month after she and the 1975 frontman went public with their relationship.

Although Swift, 33, recently said that she has “never been this happy” amid the budding romance, her fans weren’t as thrilled by her latest love interest.

Many diehard fans, known as Swifties, slammed the singer for dating the rocker, 34, following his racist remarks about Ice Spice .

In fact, they even launched a #SpeakUpNow campaign which urged Swift to address his history of controversial comments.

“Use your platform responsibly and intentionally,” the letter read. “Advocate for inclusivity, celebrate diversity and promote empathy and understanding.”

Although Swift has yet to respond to her fans plea, Healy dismissed the backlash as nothing but virtue signaling.

The Grammy winner and Healy first sparked romance rumors in early May after the “Somebody Else” singer was spotted at Swift’s Eras Tour in Nashville.

In between shows , the pair were also seen spending a lot of time together in New York City, where Swift appears to be recording new music.

As previously reported by Page Six, the duo was also caught “cuddling and kissing” at Casa Cipriani.

The fling came just one month after Swift announced her breakup from Alwyn, whom she dated for six years.

Although sources told us at the time that there was no bad blood between the exes, Alwyn reportedly felt “slighted” and was “distraught” that she moved on so quickly.

However, in Swift’s new vault track, “You’re Losing Me,” she hints that Alwyn didn’t want to take their relationship to the next level.

In the song, the singer suggests that the English actor , 32, did not want to marry her, which lead their love to fizzle out.

“I wouldn’t marry me either. A pathological people pleaser. Who only wanted you to see her,” she sings in the powerful bridge.

Yet amid all of the drama, Alwyn — who prefers to stay out of the spotlight — is reportedly “doing his best to  keep busy  and focus on himself.”
