The 44.9m/147'4" motor yacht 'Big Easy' by the Dutch shipyard Hakvoort offers flexible accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 cabins and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design.

Boasting an array of sumptuous living areas laid out invitingly to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere onboard, motor yacht Big Easy is the perfect luxury charter yacht for friends and family.

Guest Accommodation

Built in 2002, Big Easy offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising a master suite located on the main deck, three double cabins and two twin cabins. There are 7 beds in total, including 2 king, 3 queen, 2 singles and 1 convertible. She is also capable of carrying up to 9 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Performance & Range

Big Easy is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots with a range of up to 5,000 nautical miles from her 57,000 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Big Easy. Principle among these are waterslides for hours of fun for all ages. Guests can feel the wind in their hair and jump the waves on one of the two SeaDoo GTI 170 WaveRunners. Additionally, there are two F5S SEABOBs, that allow you to skim along the surface or steer under the crystal water and experience life swimming with the fish. If that isn't enough Big Easy also features fishing equipment, inflatable water toys, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. Big Easy features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 5.49m/18' Nautica Tender to transport you in style.

Big Easy and her crew are available for charter this winter for cruising within the Caribbean. She is already accepting bookings this summer for cruising in the Mediterranean.

Built by Dutch shipyard Hakvoort in 2002, this majestic 146ft (44.5m) Cayman Island-flagged yacht is based in Fort Lauderdale and has benefitted from numerous refits throughout her tenure, the most recent being carried out in 2021.

A voluminous main salon is characterised by both comfortable and formal seating zones, creating the perfect setting for soporific and peaceful rest and relaxation. Charter yacht BIG EASY features a contemporary interior décor by Andrew Winch. The main salon offers a large L shaped sofa, occasional chair, coffee table and games table. Neutral tones are accented with cool blue paisley fabrics, creating a soothing and elegant ambience. Forward of the open plan salon is the formal dining table seating 12 guests with ease. ACCOMMODATIONS AND LAYOUT

Accommodations are provided for 12 owners/guests in six staterooms, including an on‐deck owner’s suite with private Lounge. Crew quarters for 11 are arranged in five cabins, including an upper deck Captain’s Cabin.

INTERIOR WALKTHROUGH

Starting at the bow forward are the crew accommodations. Forward port and starboard are four nearly identical crew bunkrooms each with upper and lower berths. Each has a private head with toilet, vanity sink, and stall type shower. Aft of the crew accommodations is the crew lounge/galley area. All four cabins are outfitted with hanging lockers and built ‐ in drawer storage.

Adjacent to the crew lounge area is access to the laundry center as well as an additional set of stairs leading to the walk‐in refrigerator and walk‐in freezer. There are built‐in storage cabinets throughout this area.

Aft of the crew lounge is a stairwell leading up to the main deck.

The stairwell leading up to the crew main deck entrance is situated on the portside. Forward and outboard is stairwell access to the captain's cabin. Inboard of the foyer is a door to the main galley as well as a service passageway into the main salon area.

The captain's cabin is fitted with a double berth and a large hull side fixed window. There is a built‐in desk workstation, lounge area and a hanging locker. Inboard is a large private head with toilet, vanity sink, and shower. This cabin is well appointed and suitable for a couple.

The galley is finished with Stainless Steel countertops and work surfaces. There is a door out to the port side deck. Aft is a service door to the main salon. There are built‐in dry storage cabinets as well as access to the dumb waiter.

Starting all the way forward on the main deck level is the master suite. The master suite is accessed by a set of glass French doors from the starboard main entrance foyer. Inside the French doors is the master lounge. The lounge is furnished with a settee, built‐in storage cabinets, as well as ample book cases. To starboard there are large fixed hull side windows with electric blinds.

Passing through the lounge leads to the master stateroom suite. The suite is furnished with a king size berth facing aft from the forward bulkhead. To port and starboard are large walk‐in garment lockers, large hull side fixed windows with electric blinds and built in chest of drawers. On the aft bulkhead opposite the berth is an entertainment cabinet featuring a concealed flat screen television.

The master stateroom suite features a large head with double vanity sink, glass enclosed marble shower spa tub, separate toilet room and large hull side windows and electric blinds.

Moving aft of the master suite to the polished stone finished main entrance foyer is a day head with toilet and vanity sink.

The main entrance foyer is accessed by doors out to the starboard side main deck. Inboard from the main entrance foyer are stairways leading up to the sky lounge. Aft is an open passageway into the dining area and main salon.

The main salon and dining area have large fixed windows with electric blinds. There are built‐in polished stone top buffets. Forward is a dining area with formal dining table and seating for 12. Forward to port is a mirrored concealed door leading to the galley service entrance.

The dining area is separated from the common salon by an arched opening with teak pillars on each side.

The salon area is furnished with a sectional‐style sofa, loose armchair, and an oversized upholstered ottoman that doubles as a coffee table. Starboard to the sofa is an occasional table with three leather armchairs. Aft of the occasional table is the Salon AV cabinet, which houses the flat screen television and other AV related components.

The lower guest area is accessed via a curved stairway down from the starboard side salon area. In the port and starboard fore and aft corners of the foyer are entries into five guest staterooms and an additional crew laundry/prep room.

Three of the five guest staterooms feature a queen size berth, the fourth guest stateroom features a twin bed arrangement, and the fifth stateroom features a bunk arrangement with an upper Pullman berth. The four primary staterooms include twin nightstands with reading lamps.

Underneath each berth are storage drawers. The three queen guest staterooms have a desk with a loose chair. All the staterooms feature large hanging lockers as well as ensuite heads. The four primary staterooms have large marble top vanities with dual sinks, separate enclosed toilet rooms, marble finished showers with bench seats and frameless glass shower doors. The bunk room stateroom has a single basin sink with a stall style shower and frameless glass shower door.

The Skylounge is accessed via a curved stairwell located in the main foyer. The lounge features a sectional style sofa to starboard, entertainment center on the forward bulkhead, full bar to port as well as an occasional table with four upholstered armchairs just forward of the bar arrangement. A set of French doors leads to the wheel house as well as the captain's cabin.

EXTERIOR SECTIONS

Forward is a large whirlpool spa surrounded by sun pads. To port is a staircase to the bridge. Amidships is a large, teak dining table with seating for twelve. Outboard of the table is storage and wet bar. Aft on the sundeck are twin, built‐in seating areas outboard on each side and additional chaise lounges for sunning. There are electric and manual awnings for shade, dumb waiter access and side serving bars.

UPPER DECK:

Aft are twin, U‐shaped dining/cocktail areas under the deck overhand with teak tables. Further aft is the tender storage. Forward is the Portuguese walk‐around bridge (all decking is finished in Teak).

The aft main deck features a large seating area that may be used as a dining or lounging area. The passerelle is to starboard and the swim platform access is from the port side. Forward on the main deck is a spacious seating area.

Big Easy Palma Shipyard – Fall 2023

• Replaced leaking crankcase relief door.
• Replaced leaking fuel coolers.
• 1000-hour service on main engines. Added extender to coolant system.
• Replaced broken temp and pressure sensors on port and starboard gearbox.
• Stage 4 maintenance, change oil and replaced filter elements.

Steering Gear

• We replaced the rod, filter elements, the oil in the system, changed all seals and wear parts.
• Service of steering pumps includes replacing faulty steering sensor and fixed leak on valve.

Running Gear

• Replaced the flexible coupling between the engine and the gearbox (20 years old).
• Replaced the flexible coupling between the gearbox and the shaft (20 years old).
• Vibration analysis on the sea trial confirmed that the propulsion system is rock solid. The vibration analysis guys were very impressed with the boat’s performance.
• Removed propellor and inspected it, found slight damage on the starboard propellor which was repaired.
• 2000-hour service.
• Tested engine shutdowns.
• Replaced leaking fuel hose on starboard engine.
• Remade pipework and bracketry and replaced vibration mounts on both compressors to reduce noise from the compressor.
• Serviced the small compressor.
• Replaced the gas and oil in both units.
• Reprogrammed the frequency drives so the compressors now have full range of speeds improving the chillers’ ability to control the temperatures in the boat.

Ductwork cleaning

• We cleaned the ductwork in the crew area and the guest area.

AHU1 (guest) and AHU2 (crew) fan upgrade

• AHU1 (Guest) and AHU2 (Crew) were delivering 74% and 64% of the designed air volume. We upgraded the fans and motor and are now at 120% and 115% of the designed air at the outlets we could measure.

Bridge FCUs

• Replaced the broken bridge FCUs with new larger capacity units. Changed the system from recirculating air to fresh air make up units.

The 44.6m (146.3ft) motor yacht BIG EASY has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure built to Lloyd’s classification by Dutch shipyard Royal Hakvoort and delivered in 2002 and most recently refitted in 2021. Exterior design and naval architecture are by Diana Yacht Design and Winch Design styled her interiors, giving her full northern European heritage.

Her attractive sun deck is a favourite with guests, featuring a large raised jacuzzi forward surrounded by sunpads, open-air dining partially shaded by the hardtop with buffet bars either side, along with two intimate lounge areas and sun lounging space aft.

As the name suggests the boat deck is where tenders and toys are stowed on passage, launched by deck cranes either side creating a vast, versatile guest deck area. Beneath the overhang two C-shaped lounges provide a second open-air dining option and walkaround sidedecks allow guests to engage fully with their surroundings.

The main deck also has walkaround sidedecks connecting the spacious lounge aft with the intimate seating area on the foredeck. From the main deck aft steps to port curve down to the swim platform.

Her sleek interior of satin-finished wood, neutral tone fabrics and splashes of pastel blue from artworks and soft furnishings. The light main saloon is perfect for entertaining with large picture windows, C-shaped seating aft, a gaming table to port forward of steps to the lower deck guest lobby. Forward there is a formal dining room for 12 guests.

Up in the sky lounge there is L-shaped sofa seating to starboard opposite a gaming table and a bar. Double doors connect the space to the boat deck’s dining and entertainment spaces.

BIG EASY comfortably sleeps up to twelve guests in six bright and spacious staterooms. There is an impressive owner’s suite forward on the main deck with a separate lounge that doubles as a private gym,  and an en suite with bathtub and shower.

On the lower deck there are three queen staterooms and one convertible stateroom, allowing the option of two single twin beds or one king-sized double bed. She has a sixth bunk cabin with twin beds. Each cabin is well-appointed, en suite and has plenty of storage space.

Twin 970hp Caterpillar diesel engines give her a top speed of 15 knots and transatlantic range of 5,000nm at her cruising speed of 12 knots. Quantum zero-speed stabilisers ensure comfort on arrival.

But there is one thing missing from the package: a charger . Samsung doesn’t include a charging adapter in its phone boxes, so you must pick the right charger and buy it separately. Here are our recommendations for the best chargers you can buy for the Galaxy S23 series!

The best 45W chargers for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus and S23 Ultra

If you want maximum charging speeds for your Galaxy S23 Plus or S23 Ultra, you’ll need to pick up a compatible 45W wired charger. Here are our picks for the best options out there.

Since this is an official Samsung product with a one-year warranty, pricing is unsurprisingly on the higher side. Samsung attempts to sweeten the deal by including a compatible USB-C to USB-C cable, although there’s also one included in the Galaxy S23 box. You can also opt for third-party alternatives mentioned in this list without any real disadvantage.

Iniu 30W USB PD charger

This is a good choice if you have a Galaxy S23 and want a multiport charger with USB-A and USB-C ports. The top USB-C port can output 30W, which is perfect for your Galaxy S23. The bottom USB-A port can output 18W, which is great for charging accessories like your earbuds , your smartwatch , or even your iPhone . Note that the charger maxes out at 30W, splitting it between both ports if you use them simultaneously.

It’s a pretty neat accessory if you’re into smart home tech. If you aren’t, though, you can always get the more affordable Samsung Wireless Charger Fast Charge Pad and enjoy the same maximum wireless charging speeds.

Iniu 15W wireless charger

Here’s another option if you want a cheaper solution and are okay with maxing out at 10W. The Iniu 15W wireless charger is more affordable and will work perfectly, although you won’t hit the top 15W speed since it’s not a Samsung charger.

The stand design props up your smartphone on your desk, which can be a desirable trait. However, a con of the design is that large camera modules can increase the gap between the stand and your smartphone, decreasing charging efficiency. Still, it is a good third-party solution. The wireless charger has a USB-C port, and the box includes a USB-A to USB-C cable.

Samsung Super Fast 25W Portable Wireless Charger

Here’s something a little special. Those who want to wirelessly charge their devices on the go will like the Samsung Super Fast 25W Portable Wireless Charger . It’s actually pretty slow, as it can charge your Samsung phone at only 7.5W wirelessly. That said, it also doubles as a portable battery with a 10,000mAh battery. This makes it a more versatile choice and one of the best Galaxy S23 chargers. You can take it with you and charge wherever you go as long as the battery holds some juice.

You can get better charging speeds if you’re willing to plug your phone in. The USB port can provide up to 25W of charging. This is actually enough to top the speeds of the base Galaxy S23.

What you need to know about Galaxy S23 charging

Samsung says the Galaxy S23 supports “Super fast charging,” while the Galaxy S23 Plus and the Galaxy S23 Ultra support “Super fast charging 2.0.” This means the vanilla S23 supports only up to 25W fast charging, while the S23 Plus and S23 Ultra can go up to 45W fast charging. Samsung’s charging tech is based on the USB Power Delivery specification , so you can rely on third-party chargers that support the standard.

But there’s some twist in the tale that you should be aware of. While the numbers would indicate that 45W is significantly better than 25W charging, there has been some discrepancy with how Samsung’s 45W charging actually performs beyond the spec sheet. On the Galaxy S22 series , 45W charging was just marginally better than 25W charging , saving only a few minutes and not completely justifying the need to purchase a 45W charger if you already have a 25W brick.

In our Samsung Galaxy S23 reviews, we found that, while things are a little better in terms of charging this time around, the difference isn’t huge. Our tests show that the Galaxy S23 Ultra can sustain 45W charging for about 10 minutes, while the S22 Ultra can only handle about two. It took us just under an hour to charge the Galaxy S23 Ultra, compared to just over an hour with the previous generation. It’s a slight difference, but an improvement in any case.

That said, our tests also showed that picking the right charger for your device is more important now than with the 2022 devices. In our tests with the Galaxy S23 Ultra , a 45W charger was able to charge the device from zero to 100% in 57 minutes, while a 25W charger did the same in 73 minutes. Results were very similar in our Galaxy S23 Plus tests. This means you’ll actually notice a significant difference this time around.

As for the base Galaxy S23, in our review we found out that it took about 80 minutes to charge it, using a compatible 25W charger completely.

For wireless charging, the Galaxy S23 series supports “Fast wireless charging 2.0,” which can reach 15W charging but only with Samsung’s proprietary chargers with an active cooling fan. The phones do support the Qi specification for up to 10W charging — that is the maximum you will get with third-party wireless chargers.

The Galaxy S23 series also supports “Wireless PowerShare,” which is another way to say that the S23 series supports reverse wireless charging up to 4.5W — you can use this feature to charge other wireless devices like earbuds through your phone.

No, the Galaxy S23 series does not come with a charger in the box

As mentioned before, Samsung stopped bundling chargers in its phone, starting with the Galaxy S21 series to “minimize the impact the products have on the environment.” Many users may already have a charger from their previous devices that may work just fine. But plenty of others will need to purchase a charger.

If you belong to the second camp, you need to decide how much power you need: 25W or 45W, or something even beyond. As a thumb rule, more power is better for versatility and future-proofing. But to deliver more power, you need better tech and hence have to pay a higher price.

Galaxy S23 buyers can choose to stick with a 25W charger. For Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra owners, we recommend a 45W charger. Aside from faster charging, it will give you versatility across your other devices. For instance, lower-power requirement laptops like the Dell XPS 13 also charge via 45W USB Power Delivery, so you can purchase one charger that can charge your phone as well as your laptop. Even the newer Macbook Air will do fine with a 45W charger, although its fastest charging capability is 67W. So, assess your needs before making a purchase.

You should only use original Samsung travel adapters and USB cables with your phone or tablet. If you need additional adapters, chargers, or cables , they are available on our website.

Which charging technology is supported by my phone or tablet?

We discovered that more and more Galaxy users are reusing accessories they already have. Therefore, we are transitioning to the removal of the wall charger and earphones in our latest line of Galaxy devices. If you get a new phone or tablet, you will need to buy the wall charger separately. However, the in-box items will still include a USB-C cable that can be used for transferring data or for connecting an existing charger.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 are compatible with USB-C chargers that support USB Power delivery 3.0 or Quick Charge 2.0. To make things a little trickier, there are different kinds of USB-C cables. If you’re unsure which USB Type C cable you have, it’s most likely a 3A or 5A cable. Both types are capable of charging your devices as well as transferring data. However, 5A cables are thicker and able to carry more power.

You're probably already familiar with Micro USB Type B cables. They've been used for a long time with multiple devices. The cable's head is not symmetrical. One side has ridges while the other is flat. Make sure to insert it into your phone's or tablet's USB port the correct way or it could damage the inside of your device.

What charger should I use when traveling internationally?

Most Samsung chargers can be used in countries outside of the United States. However, you should check the charger to make sure it's compatible.

"TRAVEL ADAPTER" and an input voltage of 100-240 V will be printed on Samsung chargers. If your charger has these features, then typically only a plug adapter is required when traveling internationally. These can be purchased from many electronics retailers.

Best practices for charging

The following tips and instructions will help you get the most out of your device's battery. 

When using wireless charging accessories, please be aware that any metal or magnetic materials (e.g., coins, magnetic cards) placed between the device and the wireless charger may decrease charging efficiency or cause damage to the phone or tablet and charger.

Charging may take longer when using adapters, charging wirelessly, or charging the phone or tablet through another device like a PC.

When using wired charging accessories, always check whether any foreign objects are in the connector or plug, as they may prevent charging or cause the charging accessories to overheat.

Make sure your phone or tablet doesn't overheat. Keep it in a cool location, especially while charging.

Don't let your battery completely drain. With new lithium-ion batteries being used, it is better to keep the battery partially charged, instead of letting it die. When possible, charge your device in small amounts to keep the battery from depleting. Note: If the power has been depleted, the battery charging indicator may take up to 10 minutes to appear on the device's screen while charging.

Use a genuine Samsung fast charger for the quickest charge. You can't use the fast charging feature if you're using a standard charger.

If your phone or tablet is not charging , there are a couple of things that could be causing the problem. However, if your charger doesn't work at all, it should be replaced. If it's under warranty you can request service . If not, you will need to purchase a new one.

Make sure your charger is authentic

Samsung does not recommend using any chargers other than Samsung chargers, especially chargers that are uncertified or counterfeit. These can hinder the charging of your device and may cause battery issues if used long term.

The Moscow Metro Museum of Art: 10 Must-See Stations

There are few times one can claim having been on the subway all afternoon and loving it, but the Moscow Metro provides just that opportunity.  While many cities boast famous public transport systems—New York’s subway, London’s underground, San Salvador’s chicken buses—few warrant hours of exploration.  Moscow is different: Take one ride on the Metro, and you’ll find out that this network of railways can be so much more than point A to B drudgery.

The Metro began operating in 1935 with just thirteen stations, covering less than seven miles, but it has since grown into the world’s third busiest transit system ( Tokyo is first ), spanning about 200 miles and offering over 180 stops along the way.  The construction of the Metro began under Joseph Stalin’s command, and being one of the USSR’s most ambitious building projects, the iron-fisted leader instructed designers to create a place full of svet (radiance) and svetloe budushchee (a radiant future), a palace for the people and a tribute to the Mother nation.

Consequently, the Metro is among the most memorable attractions in Moscow.  The stations provide a unique collection of public art, comparable to anything the city’s galleries have to offer and providing a sense of the Soviet era, which is absent from the State National History Museum.  Even better, touring the Metro delivers palpable, experiential moments, which many of us don’t get standing in front of painting or a case of coins.

Though tours are available , discovering the Moscow Metro on your own provides a much more comprehensive, truer experience, something much less sterile than following a guide.  What better place is there to see the “real” Moscow than on mass transit: A few hours will expose you to characters and caricatures you’ll be hard-pressed to find dining near the Bolshoi Theater.  You become part of the attraction, hear it in the screech of the train, feel it as hurried commuters brush by: The Metro sucks you beneath the city and churns you into the mix.

With the recommendations of our born-and-bred Muscovite students, my wife Emma and I have just taken a self-guided tour of what some locals consider the top ten stations of the Moscow Metro. What most satisfied me about our Metro tour was the sense of adventure .  I loved following our route on the maps of the wagon walls as we circled the city, plotting out the course to the subsequent stops; having the weird sensation of being underground for nearly four hours; and discovering the next cavern of treasures, playing Indiana Jones for the afternoon, piecing together fragments of Russia’s mysterious history.  It’s the ultimate interactive museum.

Top Ten Stations (In order of appearance)

Kievskaya station.

Kievskaya Station went public in March of 1937, the rails between it and Park Kultury Station being the first to cross the Moscow River.  Kievskaya is full of mosaics depicting aristocratic scenes of Russian life, with great cameo appearances by Lenin, Trotsky, and Stalin.  Each work has a Cyrillic title/explanation etched in the marble beneath it; however, if your Russian is rusty, you can just appreciate seeing familiar revolutionary dates like 1905 ( the Russian Revolution ) and 1917 ( the October Revolution ).

Mayakovskaya Station

Mayakovskaya Station ranks in my top three most notable Metro stations. Mayakovskaya just feels right, done Art Deco but no sense of gaudiness or pretention.  The arches are adorned with rounded chrome piping and create feeling of being in a jukebox, but the roof’s expansive mosaics of the sky are the real showstopper.  Subjects cleverly range from looking up at a high jumper, workers atop a building, spires of Orthodox cathedrals, to nimble aircraft humming by, a fleet of prop planes spelling out CCCP in the bluest of skies.

Novoslobodskaya Station

Novoslobodskaya is the Metro’s unique stained glass station.  Each column has its own distinctive panels of colorful glass, most of them with a floral theme, some of them capturing the odd sailor, musician, artist, gardener, or stenographer in action.  The glass is framed in Art Deco metalwork, and there is the lovely aspect of discovering panels in the less frequented haunches of the hall (on the trackside, between the incoming staircases).  Novosblod is, I’ve been told, the favorite amongst out-of-town visitors.

Komsomolskaya Station

Komsomolskaya Station is one of palatial grandeur.  It seems both magnificent and obligatory, like the presidential palace of a colonial city.  The yellow ceiling has leafy, white concrete garland and a series of golden military mosaics accenting the tile mosaics of glorified Russian life.  Switching lines here, the hallway has an Alice-in-Wonderland feel, impossibly long with decorative tile walls, culminating in a very old station left in a remarkable state of disrepair, offering a really tangible glimpse behind the palace walls.

Dostoevskaya Station

Dostoevskaya is a tribute to the late, great hero of Russian literature .  The station at first glance seems bare and unimpressive, a stark marble platform without a whiff of reassembled chips of tile.  However, two columns have eerie stone inlay collages of scenes from Dostoevsky’s work, including The Idiot , The Brothers Karamazov , and Crime and Punishment.   Then, standing at the center of the platform, the marble creates a kaleidoscope of reflections.  At the entrance, there is a large, inlay portrait of the author.

Chkalovskaya Station

Chkalovskaya does space Art Deco style (yet again).  Chrome borders all.  Passageways with curvy overhangs create the illusion of walking through the belly of a chic, new-age spacecraft.  There are two (kos)mosaics, one at each end, with planetary subjects.  Transferring here brings you above ground, where some rather elaborate metalwork is on display.  By name similarity only, I’d expected Komsolskaya Station to deliver some kosmonaut décor; instead, it was Chkalovskaya that took us up to the space station.

Elektrozavodskaya Station

Elektrozavodskaya is full of marble reliefs of workers, men and women, laboring through the different stages of industry.  The superhuman figures are round with muscles, Hollywood fit, and seemingly undeterred by each Herculean task they respectively perform.  The station is chocked with brass, from hammer and sickle light fixtures to beautiful, angular framework up the innards of the columns.  The station’s art pieces are less clever or extravagant than others, but identifying the different stages of industry is entertaining.

Baumanskaya Statio

Baumanskaya Station is the only stop that wasn’t suggested by the students.  Pulling in, the network of statues was just too enticing: Out of half-circle depressions in the platform’s columns, the USSR’s proud and powerful labor force again flaunts its success.  Pilots, blacksmiths, politicians, and artists have all congregated, posing amongst more Art Deco framing.  At the far end, a massive Soviet flag dons the face of Lenin and banners for ’05, ’17, and ‘45.  Standing in front of the flag, you can play with the echoing roof.

Ploshchad Revolutsii Station

Novokuznetskaya Station

Novokuznetskaya Station finishes off this tour, more or less, where it started: beautiful mosaics.  This station recalls the skyward-facing pieces from Mayakovskaya (Station #2), only with a little larger pictures in a more cramped, very trafficked area.  Due to a line of street lamps in the center of the platform, it has the atmosphere of a bustling market.  The more inventive sky scenes include a man on a ladder, women picking fruit, and a tank-dozer being craned in.  The station’s also has a handsome black-and-white stone mural.

Here is a map and a brief description of our route:

Start at (1)Kievskaya on the “ring line” (look for the squares at the bottom of the platform signs to help you navigate—the ring line is #5, brown line) and go north to Belorusskaya, make a quick switch to the Dark Green/#2 line, and go south one stop to (2)Mayakovskaya.  Backtrack to the ring line—Brown/#5—and continue north, getting off at (3)Novosblodskaya and (4)Komsolskaya.  At Komsolskaya Station, transfer to the Red/#1 line, go south for two stops to Chistye Prudy, and get on the Light Green/#10 line going north.  Take a look at (5)Dostoevskaya Station on the northern segment of Light Green/#10 line then change directions and head south to (6)Chkalovskaya, which offers a transfer to the Dark Blue/#3 line, going west, away from the city center.  Have a look (7)Elektroskaya Station before backtracking into the center of Moscow, stopping off at (8)Baumskaya, getting off the Dark Blue/#3 line at (9)Ploschad Revolyutsii.  Change to the Dark Green/#2 line and go south one stop to see (10)Novokuznetskaya Station.

Billionaire fights to dock his boat on water behind his house. His 164-foot boat, that is.

The love of the water, and a mega-yacht to enjoy it, is putting one resident at odds with village of north palm beach leaders..

For some people, the ultimate Florida lifestyle is a waterfront house , a private dock and a boat parked next to it. But what if that boat is a mega-yacht , and the mega-yacht stretches 164 feet?

That's the conundrum facing the Village of North Palm Beach.

This tiny community in northern Palm Beach County, with only 13,000 full-time residents, has an identity so tied to the water that a ship's steering wheel is the village's emblem.

But it's that love of the water that is putting one resident at odds with village leaders.

For the past several years, homeowner Michael Bozutto has been battling the village for the right to park his 164-foot Westport, dubbed Honey, behind a home he owns at 932 Shore Drive.

The house, built in 1961, is a one-story, ranch-style property with three bedrooms on a half-acre lot. Bozzuto paid $840,247 for the house in 2014, according to Palm Beach County property records.

Lawsuit rooted in dispute over where to dock mega-yacht

What makes this plain house special is its location. It's on a rare corner bordered on the north and east by navigable waters that provide access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet. The east-facing dock is large enough to accommodate Bozzuto's motor yacht.

Since Bozutto bought Honey for an undisclosed sum a decade ago, he mostly has parked it at the Old Port Cove Marina, near Tiger Woods' 155-foot showy mega-yacht, ironically dubbed Privacy.

More recently, Bozzuto has wanted to park Honey alongside his Shore Drive house, one of four houses he owns in the village. While Bozzuto keeps some personal property at the Shore Drive house, he lives at a house he owns at Harbour Isles Court.

Village officials warned Bozzuto he can't park Honey at 932 Shore Drive because boats can only be parked on docks behind houses that are occupied by the homeowner.

But village rules do not define the word "occupied." For instance, the rules do not state that occupied means the house is a residence where the owner lives. Village rules also contain no restrictions on the size of boats that can be kept at private docks.

After years of pushing back against what he believes are fuzzy rules, Bozzuto in March filed a lawsuit against the village.

He alleged the municipality is illegally depriving him of his property rights because nothing in the village code prevents him from mooring Honey at his house. He is asking a Palm Beach County Circuit Court judge to rule that he has a constitutional right to dock Honey there.

Gregory Coleman, Bozzuto's West Palm Beach attorney, said the village has plenty of waterfront homes with yachts parked behind them. But Coleman said the village is illegally blocking Bozzuto from docking Honey at his house because the village is bending to pressure from a handful of neighbors who think the boat is too big.

The selective enforcement is wrong, said Coleman, a former president of the Florida Bar.

"He's a very under-the-radar guy who doesn't cause anybody any problems," Coleman said of Bozzuto. "He pays his property taxes, and he wants to be left alone by the village of North Palm Beach. Unfortunately, they are singling Mike out."

Neither Leonard Rubin, the village's longtime attorney, nor Village Manager Chuck Huff responded to requests for comment.

Eric Stettin, a Fort Lauderdale-based attorney who is representing the village in the Bozzuto lawsuit, said he could not comment on pending litigation.

What good is a man's castle if he can't have a boat in his moat?

Coleman's lawsuit describes the conflict as a battle over property rights, but real estate and yachting experts say it's also a sign of the times.

As wealthy new residents pour into the county wanting all the perks of the Sunshine State, they want a boat to go along with their waterfront homes and golf club memberships. Some longtime residents fear Palm Beach County is turning into a playground for billionaires, to the detriment of everyday people who also want to live in sunshine and peace.

This conflict between Old Florida and new money is an ever-present tension, but even seasoned yacht brokers say they've never seen interest in luxury yachts quite as strong as it is now.

"What we've seen in the marketplace right after COVID in the yachting industry, and especially the superyacht segment, is the most incredible growth ever seen in the history of yachting to date," said Shannon McCoy, a luxury yacht advisor and broker with Worth Avenue Yachts in Palm Beach.

"A lot of people are moving here with serious money," added Pascal Savoy, U.S. managing director of Camper & Nicholsons International yacht brokers in Fort Lauderdale.

While in the past Palm Beach County was not considered lively enough for some buyers, Savoy said the county's growing sophistication is putting it on the map in a way never seen before.

"It's a mini-Monaco for us," Savoy said.

Prices for mega-yachts can range from $18 million to $60 million, or many times that, for the largest and most decked-out mega-yachts, Savoy said.

While some yachts can be glitzy, a 164-foot Westport is considered a more low-profile boat, Savoy added.

Michael Bozzuto's interests: Houses, boats and philanthropy

Bozzuto is no newcomer to North Palm Beach. He's been a resident of the village for 20 years.

He is the billionaire owner of a family-owned supermarket wholesaler in Connecticut, and an investor and philanthropist who likes to collect houses and yachts, Coleman said.

In addition to the four North Palm Beach houses and several yachts he owns, Bozzuto in February paid a whopping $31.1 million for a house in the Town of Palm Beach Shores. The house, which has two docks, sits just north of the Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet.

Coleman said there is plenty of room for other boaters to navigate the waterway when Honey is parked at the Shore Drive house in North Palm Beach. And while other people may not have as large a yacht, there are other sizeable yachts parked on docks behind other North Palm Beach homes, too, he added.

At a 2017 village council meeting, then-Mayor Darryl Aubrey commented on the issue, according to the complaint.

"When I didn't live here full time, I had a boat sitting in my dock, I was gone nine months of the year. I don't see how you can say that someone has to be in a residence year-round, seems to be some interpretation of occupant, there would be an enormous number of violations," Aubrey said.

Another member of the village council asked if the village had a definition now, the complaint said.

Rubin, the village attorney, replied: "No, we don't," according to the lawsuit.

The yacht docking dispute is particularly timely, given the scarcity of dock space for boats of all sizes.

The most convenient place to park a boat is on the water behind a house, brokers say. But not every waterway or channel can accommodate the draft, or depth, of a mega-yacht.

However, the dock behind Bozzuto's Shore Drive house can.

Not only is the Westport not known for its deep hulls, but the waterway also is typical of northern Palm Beach County, which boasts deep water and easy access to the ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet, said Coleman, a lifelong boater.

"In Palm Beach County, they have deeper water, and it allows people to have larger yachts," Savoy agreed.

But not every waterway is deep enough for every boat.

McCoy said she specializes in helping advise potential yacht owners about the county's varied water depths before they buy a house, if they plan to dock their yacht behind it.

If yacht owners don't have a private dock, the other option is a marina. But marina space is hard to find, with many dock berths reserved for months in advance, McCoy said.

Despite the challenges of owning a boat and finding a place to dock it, yacht brokers say demand continues.

They see interest continuing from business executives moving here with their families as they relocate their companies to Palm Beach County. There's also a growing demand for yachts among female buyers, McCoy added.

They also see younger mega-yacht buyers, some even in their early 30s. This is in sharp contrast to the mostly older buyers in the past, Savoy said.

Palm Beach County may not be as go-go as Miami-Dade County when it comes to showy ships, but if interest continues, "it's coming," Savoy said. "You're going to attract bigger yachts."

Put another way: "No one needs a boat, but everyone needs a boat," McCoy said. "It's the ultimate lifestyle."

Accommodations are provided for 12 owners/guests in six staterooms, including an on‐deck owner’s suite with private Lounge. Crew quarters for 9 are arranged in five cabins, including an upper deck Captain’s Cabin.

INTERIOR WALKTHROUGH

Starting at the bow forward are the crew accommodations. Forward port and starboard are four nearly identical crew bunkrooms each with upper and lower berths. Each has a private head with toilet, vanity sink, and stall type shower. Aft of the crew accommodations is

the crew lounge/galley area. All four cabins are outfitted with hanging lockers and built ‐ in drawer storage.

Adjacent to the crew lounge area is access to the laundry center as well as an additional set of stairs leading to the walk‐in refrigerator and walk‐in freezer. There are built‐in storage cabinets throughout this area.

Aft of the crew lounge is a stairwell leading up to the main deck.

The stairwell leading up to the crew main deck entrance is situated on the portside. Forward and outboard is stairwell access to the captain's cabin. Inboard of the foyer is a door to the main galley as well as a service passageway into the main salon area.

The captain's cabin is fitted with a double berth and a large hull side fixed window. There is a built‐in desk workstation, lounge area and a hanging locker. Inboard is a large private head with toilet, vanity sink, and shower. This cabin is well appointed and suitable for a couple.

The galley is finished with Stainless Steel countertops and work surfaces. There is a door out to the port side deck. Aft is a service door to the main salon. There are built‐in dry storage cabinets as well as access to the dumb waiter.

Starting all the way forward on the main deck level is the master suite. The master suite is accessed by a set of glass French doors from the starboard main entrance foyer. Inside the French doors is the master lounge. The lounge is furnished with a settee, built‐in storage cabinets, as well as ample book cases. To starboard there are large fixed hull side windows with electric blinds.

Passing through the lounge leads to the master stateroom suite. The suite is furnished with a king size berth facing aft from the forward bulkhead. To port and starboard are large walk‐in garment lockers, large hull side fixed windows with electric blinds and built in chest of drawers. On the aft bulkhead opposite the berth is an entertainment cabinet featuring a concealed flat screen television.

The master stateroom suite features a large head with double vanity sink, glass enclosed marble shower spa tub, separate toilet room and large hull side windows and electric blinds.

Moving aft of the master suite to the polished stone finished main entrance foyer is a day head with toilet and vanity sink.

The main entrance foyer is accessed by doors out to the starboard side main deck. Inboard from the main entrance foyer are stairways leading up to the sky lounge. Aft is an open passageway into the dining area and main salon.

The main salon and dining area have large fixed windows with electric blinds. There are built‐in polished stone top buffets. Forward is a dining area with formal dining table and seating for 12. Forward to port is a mirrored concealed door leading to the galley service entrance.

The dining area is separated from the common salon by an arched opening with teak pillars on each side.

The salon area is furnished with a sectional‐style sofa, loose armchair, and an oversized upholstered ottoman that doubles as a coffee table. Starboard to the sofa is an occasional table with three leather armchairs. Aft of the occasional table is the Salon AV cabinet, which houses the flat screen television and other AV related components.

The lower guest area is accessed via a curved stairway down from the starboard side salon area. In the port and starboard fore and aft corners of the foyer are entries into five guest staterooms and an additional crew laundry/prep room.

Three of the five guest staterooms feature a queen size berth, the fourth guest stateroom features a twin bed arrangement, and the fifth stateroom features a bunk arrangement with an upper Pullman berth. The four primary staterooms include twin nightstands with reading lamps. 

Underneath each berth are storage drawers. The three queen guest staterooms have a desk with a loose chair. All the staterooms feature large hanging lockers as well as ensuite heads. The four primary staterooms have large marble top vanities with dual sinks, separate enclosed toilet rooms, marble finished showers with bench seats and frameless glass shower doors. The bunkroom

stateroom has a single basin sink with a stall style shower and frameless glass shower door.

The Skylounge is accessed via a curved stairwell located in the main foyer. The lounge features a sectional style sofa to starboard, entertainment center on the forward bulkhead, full bar to port as well as an occasional table with four upholstered armchairs just forward of the bar arrangement. A set of French doors leads to the wheel house as well as the captain's cabin.

EXTERIOR SECTIONS

Forward is a large whirlpool spa surrounded by sun pads. To port is a staircase to the bridge. Amidships is a large, teak dining table with seating for twelve. Outboard of the table is storage and wet bar. Aft on the sundeck are twin, built‐in seating areas outboard on each side and additional chaise lounges for sunning. There are electric and manual awnings for shade, dumb waiter access and side serving bars.

UPPER DECK:

Aft are twin, U‐shaped dining/cocktail areas under the deck overhand with teak tables. Further aft is the tender storage. Forward is the Portuguese walk‐around bridge (all decking is finished in Teak).

The aft main deck features a large seating area that may be used as a dining or lounging area. The passerelle is to starboard and the swim platform access is from the port side. Forward on the main deck is a spacious seating area.

5 things to know about North Palm Beach mega-yacht owner, billionaire Michael Bozzuto

Billionaire Michael Bozzuto is fighting for the right to moor his 164-foot mega-yacht behind a waterfront house he owns at 932 Shore Dr. in North Palm Beach.

But the Village of North Palm Beach has told Bozzuto he doesn't have this right.

It's the latest example of how big money landing in Florida is running up against Old Florida residents who want their communities to stay low-key.

After years of disputes over the yacht, Bozzuto recently filed a lawsuit against the municipality, asking a judge to agree that he has the right to the use of his house and his dock.

Who is Michael Bozzuto, and why is he suing the Village of North Palm Beach?

Here are five things to know:

1. Billionaire Michael Bozzuto is a longtime North Palm Beach resident

Bozzuto is the billionaire owner of a privately held, family-owned supermarket wholesaler in Connecticut called Bozzuto's Inc. The company is a distributor of food and household products to retailers in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Bozzuto's was founded by Michael's late father, Adam.

Even though Bozzuto's Inc. is based in Connecticut, Bozzuto has lived in the Village of North Palm Beach, population 13,000, for 20 years.

2. Besides owning a yacht, what are Michael Bozzuto's hobbies?

In addition to being a businessman, Bozzuto is an investor and philanthropist. He is a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics.

He is also an under-the-radar resident who likes to collect houses and yachts, said his lawyer, former Florida Bar president Gregory Coleman.

Bozzuto bought the motor yacht, Honey, about 10 years ago for an undisclosed sum. The Westport mega-yacht was built in 2007 and is the largest of several yachts Bozzuto owns.

Bozzuto also owns four houses in the Village of North Palm Beach. This includes the house at 932 Shore Dr., where he wants to dock Honey. In 2014, Bozzuto paid $840,247 for the house, which was built in 1961, according to Palm Beach County property records.

The property is on a rare corner bordered on the north and east by navigable waters that provide access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet. The east-facing dock is large enough to accommodate Honey.

Bozzuto's residence is in another part of North Palm Beach, on Harbour Isles Court.

3. Michael Bozzuto's net worth isn't known but billionaire owns property outside of North Palm Beach, too

Bozzuto made waves recently when in January he paid $31.1 million for a waterfront house in nearby Palm Beach Shores.

The Singer Island house with two docks stretches into the Intracoastal Waterway just north of the Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet. The three-lot parcel on 1.5 acres has about 200 feet of waterfront.

The property was bought from an owner whose family had owned it for decades. It's unclear if Bozzuto will make any changes to the property.

In a brief interview in February, Bozzuto said: “It’s a house, and it will probably be a house."

4. Why can't Bozzuto park his yacht behind his North Palm Beach house?

The Village of North Palm Beach rules say that a private dock or pier can only be used by the occupant of the house. But the village doesn't define the word "occupant."

Bozzuto's lawsuit said while the village has discussed whether to define an occupant as a resident, it never has done so.

Hundreds of other property owners dock a boat behind their North Palm Beach house but do not live there year-round.

Therefore Bozzuto said he's being singled out because neighbors just don't like his boat's big size. This selective enforcement is wrong, his lawsuit said.

5. What does North Palm Beach think about the lawsuit?

Unfortunately, this is a mystery until the village responds to Bozzuto's lawsuit in public court records.

The village's longtime lawyer, Lenard Rubin, who knows the municipality's history with boats and houses, did not respond to requests for comment. Neither did the village's manager, Chuck Huff.
