A $168 Million Gigayacht Sold On eBay

eBay sets a single sale benchmark topped $85 million for a 50 percent deposit on a 405-foot megayacht designed by naval architect Frank Mulder.

Thee eventual price was $168 million, with the transaction completed with Florida Fort Lauderdale’s 4Yacht brokerage firm.

Gigayacht’s perks include a 3,000 sq. ft. master suite on the main deck, 10 multilevel VIP suites with panoramic windows, eight guest rooms, a children’s cabin, a gym, office area, movie theater, spa, retractable glass elevator, a jetstream swimming pool, a movie theater and a helicopter pad.

It also includes two large guest tenders and a ski boat stored in the garage. A submarine can be launched via dry dock.

It was sold to a Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

Gigayacht has a cruising speed of 16 knots and maximum speed of 20 knots, possible with two 4300 kW engines. Made from steel and features Caterpillar engine, the yacht itself can be bought from the manufacturers for $196.5 million.

When it was first listed on eBay however, the yacht had yet to be made, and delivery was set for some future date. Only one person made a bid before Abramovich, and it was for a mere $10.

Roman Abramovich made his wealth in the Russian oil industry and in the controversial debt-for-shares scheme that was popular in the country, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Abramovich has also made a name for himself in the UK.

He is also known to be a collector of luxury yachts, and by purchasing Gigayacht, the most expensive item on eBay adds to his list of collections.

The Frank Mulder Gigayacht is claimed by many to be the most expensive item ever sold on eBay for an eye-popping, purchase price of $168,000,000.

The Gigayacht was designed by Naval architect Frank Mulder of Mulder Design.

Now, a Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich owns this beauty. The ultra-luxury yacht boasts of luxurious master suite on deck that features luxury office area, salon, cinema room, fitness room, two person cabin for children, body guards.

The stunning yacht also features helicopter garage in the bow with retractable elevator, two fabulous multi-level VIP Suites with panoramic windows, sixteen luxurious oversized guest cabins.

Dutch firm Mulder Design—which has in the past penned designs for the likes of Sunrise, Baglietto, Heesen, and Benetti—took the wraps off of a new yacht concept that we’re hoping against hope to see on the water someday. Dubbed Project Crystal , the 229-foot adventure yacht design is rated for ice and has tons of storage space for the toys you need to explore whatever destination you find yourself in.

The Mulder team (which also worked on Zeelander’s Z55 ) gave the concept an especially intriguing silhouette; instead of the stepped design often seen on yachts this size, Project Crystal has what looks like a truncated superstructure that leaves the rear of the boat open for a helicopter landing pad (a feature positioned towards the bow on most yachts). Thanks to all that room, at the aft end of the superstructure, Mulder’s designers placed a large, enclosed glass stairwell that runs from the main deck up to the sun deck like the boat’s twisting spine. There’s also a central staircase running through the center of the boat.

Up on the sundeck, guests can dine under a retractable sliding roof, lounge around in the ample seating, or soak in the hot tub. However, guests need stop on the next deck down, as it is entirely taken up by the owner’s suite, which has an office, lounge, his-and-her bathrooms, and a massive bedroom. The next stop on our tour is the observation deck, which has the seating typical of most observation decks, but also another dining table, a bar, a wine cabinet, a cigar room, and a fish tank.

Continuing along, we get to the main deck, an area that features the main saloon (with a piano), dining room, library, and dedicated cinema as well as two VIP cabins. Head outdoors and you will begin to see why they designed the yacht with so much aft room. An expansive tender deck with room for four PWCs, a tender up to 34-feet in length, one up to 20 feet, and a three-person submarine can all be stored there. The rest of the cabins, two twins and two VIPs, are located on the lower deck, as is the gym, sauna, and massage room, so you can really get centered and calm after a day of relaxing.

All told, the yacht will be able to accommodate up to 14 guests and can support from 15 to 18 crew members. And if you’re a do-gooder type or just want to save money, the yacht concept would use a hybrid electric-diesel propulsion system that can bring the yacht up to 18.5 knots but also run completely on electricity at up to 12 knots.

36m Mulder Shipyard award-winning motor yacht Seaflower new to market

Having just picked up a Neptune at the World Superyacht Awards , the 36-metre Mulder Shipyard motor yacht Seaflower is newly listed for sale with Jamie Small of Burgess .

Deceptively voluminous for her length, the Mulder ThirtySix model's "visionary exterior by Claydon Reeves " is an evolution of 34-metre Solis , also designed by Claydon Reeves. Seaflower 's interior is by Vickers Studio .

Seaflower was delivered by family-run Mulder Shipyard in The Netherlands in 2023 as the first ThirtySix built to IMO Tier III emission standards. Her Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) technology is by Van Oossanen Naval Architects .

With hull and superstructure crafted "with precision" in aluminium and "customised for a highly experienced multiple-yacht owner", the broker pointed out that she is an "excellent opportunity to own a newly built yacht".

Accommodation is for 10 guests, comprising an owner's cabin, two double cabins and two convertible twin cabins. The owner's cabin uses the full beam of the yacht, forward at main deck level, its large skylight above the double bed inviting star gazing by night and giving plenty of natural light by day. There are quarters for a crew of five.

The saloon, well-connected with the aft deck, has an inviting lounge area aft, leading forward to a bar amidships and a spacious dining space forward. Here, the full-height glass doors open to a fold-out balcony to starboard, perfect for stretching your legs after dinner.

Al fresco dining is possible on the aft deck and up on the sundeck, where 360-degree views are enjoyed in the open and the opening bimini top provides a secure, protected feel when needed. Drop anchor in the bay of St Tropez during Les Voiles and relax in the best spot for watching the action as the sailing yachts race past!

The 296GT, ABS-classed yacht for sale has a top speed of 18 knots, cruising speed of 15 knots and a transatlantic range of 3,400 nautical miles at her passage speed of 10 knots, under twin 1,150hp Caterpillar engines. The 6.3-metre tender fits into a transverse, side-opening garage and the transom folds out to form a substantial swim and boarding platform with space for deck chairs. She benefits from CMC zero-speed stabilisers.

Lying in Olbia, Italy, Seaflower 's asking price is €22,500,000.
