Whether you are after a secluded romantic getaway or a more adventure-packed holiday, you can enjoy the freedom of choosing your own route, and going at your own pace, as you discover untouched beaches and cascading waterfalls and scuba dive, snorkel and fish at your leisure.

With more than 40 anchorages, there is always a tranquil spot to lose yourself and at night you can gaze up at the endless expanse of starlit sky, sheltered from the breeze in an inlet or secluded bay.

You can choose a sailing yacht, a catamaran or a power cruiser, and you can go it alone or ask for a sail guide and hostess to accompany you. Vessels accommodate between two and 10 guests and are fully equipped with everything required for a comfortable stay – just bring your sunscreen, swimming gear, a hat and sunglasses… and a sense of adventure!

With an appropriately warm climate the whole year round thanks to the trade winds which protect them, the Whitsunday Islands are also home to the fringes of the Great Barrier Reef. With a variety of private and shared accommodation options, guests can unwind in style in a social yet intimate environment. Excess luggage can be stored at several places in town including most boat check-in offices, most hostels, or at your accommodation. Most charge between $5-10pp for the duration of your trip.

As Powerplay is very water-orientated, you MUST be able to swim to board the boat, and for safety reasons, you must also be able to speak English. If you do not fit these requirements, you may not be able to book this tour.

You must reconfirm all booked tours prior to travel as specified on your voucher. If applicable, notes such as dietary requirements, pick-up locations and additional fees should also be confirmed at this time. Reconfirmations cannot be actioned through Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel, and must be done so directly through the Service Operator as specified on each ticket.

It is your responsibility to notify us of ticket discrepancies. Please read through the details on your voucher thoroughly to ensure all details such as passenger names, ages and dates of travel on vouchers are correct.

It is the responsibility of all passengers travelling to advise both your travel agent at the time of booking and the vessel check-in agent before boarding of any medical conditions including food allergies you may suffer from.

You need to allow adequate time to check-in prior to the specified departure time. 

Prices/Extra Costs:

All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST. Surcharges over peak holiday seasons may apply. 

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices and extra costs. Extra costs may include EMC fees, Stingersuit/Wetsuit Hire, Luggage Storage, Insurance, Linen Hire, National Park Fees, Fuel Levies, Dietary Fees, etc. Bonds may also apply.

We will also endeavour to communicate these extra costs with you at the time of booking, and on your ticket. However, it is your responsibility to confirm which (if any) additional costs apply with each Service Operator upon reconfirming your trip.

Travel Risk/Insurance:

It should be noted that adventure travel involves risk. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard clients, we cannot be responsible for personal injury or loss due to the actions of our clients which are beyond our control. We highly recommend that all clients have travel insurance covering illness, injury, loss or damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed date of departure. You should also ensure your travel insurance will cover special circumstances including weather events preventing guests from travelling to their tour departure destination and cancelled flights due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Merchant Fees:

Please be aware operators pass on credit card merchant fees so there is a non-refundable 1% surcharge for VISA and MASTERCARD card purchases.

All ticket/voucher reissues attract a $20 administration fee.

Cancellation Policy

Client cancellations:.

All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. Cancellations made 60-30 days prior to travel date forfeit 50% of the RRP. No shows or client cancellations made within 30 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price.

Transfers between tours can be made at the supplier’s discretion, however, it should be noted that supplier fees may apply. Tour transfers also incur a $20 administration fee. 

It is compulsory that all cancellation requests are in writing and sent via email to [email protected]. Cancellations attempted via online chat or phone will not be actioned.

Supplier Cancellations:

The Service Operator reserves the right to alter prices, alter itineraries, apply a fuel surcharge, cancel departures, arrange alternative transport and vary itineraries and services if necessary.

All departures and itineraries are subject to weather. Tours may be changed or cancelled for any reason at the discretion of the Service Operator. If the Service Operator has to cancel the trip or activity (prior to departure) and we cannot offer a suitable alternative, then a refund will be given minus a 20% administration fee and any associated card fees. We strongly recommend that you have travel insurance, especially during the wet season.

In the unlikely event of your trip being cancelled or stood down, all guest communication is required to go through our Online Store via telephone or email. While there is a Sailing Whitsundays retail outlet located at Airlie Beach, please be aware that they operate as a separate entity and are unable to access reservations made by the Mr Travel online department.

All refunds are in Australian Dollars and must be made to the card of payment. Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel is not liable for exchange rate fluctuations or fees, or any other merchant/bank fees associated with domestic and/or international transactions.

Where a full refund is applicable, there is the option to transfer the whole cost of the tour to another tour or “Credit” to avoid the administration fee. A transfer fee of $20 will apply.

You will be emailed confirmation once the refund has been processed. Once the refund has been processed, it may still take time for the banks to clear the amount. Please allow 7-10 business days for the funds to clear into Australian accounts and up to 21 business days for international accounts.

Accountability/Misconduct:

All Service Operators have the right to provide client feedback and to cancel bookings based on feedback from other Service Operators.

Sailing Whitsundays/Mr Travel will treat this as any normal client cancellation and therefore the cancellation fees stated in the Client Cancellation Policy will apply.

At Whitsunday Rent A Yacht, the team come to work every day at the Whitsundays’ longest-established, Australian-owned bareboat charter company, established in the 1970s. Our enthusiastic team who take the utmost pride in everything they do includes mechanics, skippers and shipwrights (boat builders) – all dedicated to ensuring you enjoy a safe and hassle-free holiday.

Our staff are locals, passionate about the Whitsundays and can point you in the right direction regarding the area’s beautiful attractions.

We’re based at Shute Harbour , one of the safest and largest natural harbours in the region. Our private jetty provides easy access and tranquil surrounds – perfect for a sleep-aboard or to simply acquaint yourself with your vessel and the area.

Our base is closer to all the Whitsunday Islands than any other mainland port. Within an hour of leaving the harbour, you could be moored at one of three resorts, or anchored in a secluded bay. Berthing at our jetty and swing moorings are free of charge at any time during your charter and you can receive deliveries from all provisioning companies, supermarkets, bottle shops and speciality suppliers – perfect if you’re on an extended charter.

Our fleet includes monohulls, catamarans and motor cruisers – sure to include a vessel to suit your needs and experience. All our vessels are beautifully fitted out and have modern fixtures and equipment.If you are unsure on which type of vessel would best suit your Whitsunday adventure, give our expert team a call. We have boats that can sleep up to 10 people! If your sailing experience is limited, we can also suggest which boats would be just right for you. Some charterers choose to hire a sailing catamaran however only use it under motor for the duration of their trip.

Sleep Aboard Offer

We provide a sleep aboard service which offers you the option of sleeping on board your vessel the night prior to charter departure. Check-in is 4:00pm. This gives you time to provision your vessel, unpack and relax the night prior. Your briefing will commence the next morning on board your vessel at 8:30. You will receive a 10-15 minute sleep aboard brief, which involves a quick orientation of the basics on board such as lighting, electrics and toilets etc. We look forward to greeting you in our office prior to boarding whereby we will quickly complete paperwork. Current Charter Rates

Price list valid to 30 September 2024 inclusive of GST and based on a 5 night minimum hire per boat per night. Prices per night in AU$.

The Pricing for each vessel starts at the Base Rate $ per night. Once you have chosen your dates, seasonal rates and discounts will be applied.

Fuel is not included in the price of your charter. Your Charter vessel is provided with a full tank of fuel. On return from your charter the de-briefer will take you over to the fuel dock where you will top up fuel used to refuel the vessel. Vessels dropped off at Hamilton Island will be fuelled on return to Coral Sea Marina. We will collect your credit card details on arrival and charge the fuel expense to this card. You can expect to use around $20 per day for sailing vessels and between $80 -$120 for power boats. You will need to run the motor for around 3 hours a day to keep your batteries topped-up.

MARINE PARK ENVIRONMENTAL FEES

As the Whitsundays is a Marine Park, Charterers anchorages must be logged and reported to GBRMPA. These Fees are in addition to your Charter Fees. Administration Fees are $34 per person and will be added to your Invoice.

OUTBOARD FUEL AND GAS

All of our vessels are supplied with a Dinghy and our vessels are also supplied with a gas Bottle BBQ on board. The cost of this is in addition to your Charter. Outboard fuel and Gas is $8 per day and will be added to your Invoice.

ACCOMMODATION

Please note that where the Vessel states Max Passengers, this is the number of passengers allowed on board according to the boat survey.

When the Max Passenger numbers on board exceed the number of cabins, the extra Bed is the Drop Down Bed in the Saloon/Dining area, (which is the Dining Table which converts to a bed) which usually accommodates, 2 people, however, on some vessels the Drop-down Bed may only be big enough for a single Adult or a child. (The Forepeak Berths are not in use as cabins.)

The Cabins are double occupancy for couples or friends/children who are happy to share a cabin, there are a few single beds in some of our vessels, however a single person may take a Cabin, or the Drop Down Bed in the Saloon/Dining area.

Please contact our team to clarify the sleeping arrangements during your booking or if you decide to add extra people on board please advise our team in a timely manner to make sure that it is possible to accommodate your extra guests on your vessel.

Please note that recommended number of passengers may differ to Max Passengers as for your comfort on board we sometimes recommend less people for your comfort and privacy, so your guests will each have a cabin and access to a bathroom and frees up the space for Dining.

WHAT IS INCLUDED ON YOUR VESSEL? All of our vessels are fully equipped with: Sheets, pillow cases, 2 bath towels per person (towel packs available for additional cost – 10 towels), tea towels, pillows and blankets, fully equipped galley with all crockery, cutlery and coffee plunger, gas deck BBQ, refrigeration, freezers (on most vessels), cockpit eskies, hot and cold pressure water, TV, dinghy with outboard motor, cabin fans, charter plotters on most vessels, all navigation equipment, depth instruments and wind/speed on yachts and wet weather jackets. Spray dodger, Bimini shade, electric anchor winch and inverter. Snorkelling Gear – collected from Aqua Dive on the Marina (sanitised and correct sizes).

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

We strongly advise you are covered by Travel Insurance in case of unforeseen events such as cancellation due to illness, injury or adverse weather (cyclones). 

BAREBOAT HIRER’S LIABILITY INSURANCE

This policy is optional and is designed to protect you from claims made against you for Loss or Damage to Third Party Property, or the Accidental Death, Bodily Injury or Illness of a Third Party.  We recommend Oceanic Marine Risk:  Bareboat Hirer’s Liability Insurance .

DAMAGE WAIVER INSURANCE:

The Damage Waiver is a compulsory, non-refundable payment which will cover against any minor loss or damage to/on the vessel.)

The cost of this is between $250 – $550 depending on the vessel type.

SECURITY BOND ON ARRIVAL:

We require a security bond on your arrival of between $1,000 to maximum $3,000 depending on the vessel type. (This amount must be available on your credit card, as we obtain preauthorization on this). The security bond will cover against any loss or damage to the vessel including groundings, rigging, loss of dinghy or outboard, stuck anchors, blocked heads, prop wraps caused by sheets, moorings, anchor ropes, dock lines, dinghy painters, halyards, floating rope and the removal thereof, chase calls due to charterer (i.e. blocked heads). The bond will be released after completion of your charter if there is no damage to the vessel after the Dive inspection. If there are no deductions from the Security Bond, it will be refunded to the Charterer within 14 days of Redelivery Date.

In the event of any deductions from the Security Bond for insurance excess or consequential credit card or banking charges, demurrage, repair of any damage or loss of equipment, or any accident, breakdown, recall or repossession of the Boat, the balance will be refunded to the Charterer as soon as is reasonably practicable once the repairs are completed or the deduction is calculated, whichever is the latter.

Regardless of clause 13.3, even if the fault is caused or contributed through no fault of the Operator or Charterer (for example, such as striking a marine animal or submerged object) the risk is that of the Charterer’s and the Charterer is not entitled to any refund of Charter Fees and is liable for all damage assessed against the Boat. It is recommended the Charterer takes out appropriate insurance cover for such events.

Please refer to clauses 3.1, 3.6, and 13.5 to 14.4 of the Charter Agreement for further information.

You don’t need to be able to sail to hire a yacht and it can also be affordable. If you can’t sail we can find you a professional Sail Guide to do the sailing for you, leaving you and your guests to enjoy a relaxing, hassle-free vacation. Our Sail Guides have the expertise and local knowledge to take you to all of the best locations including stunning beaches, fishing, snorkelling and diving spots, secluded bays and scenic walks to name a few, making the most out of the Whitsundays on your Queensland Yacht Charter. Your sail guide will require a private cabin and all meals and beverages provided daily throughout the duration of your holiday. The same is applicable if you wish the services of a hostess/cook. If we are able to provide a husband and wife team, only one cabin is required for your crew. Alternatively, two cabins are required. Sail Guide Options: Sail Guide, Half day Sail Guide (Sail Assistance Session), Full day Hostess/Cook per day.

SAIL ASSISTANCE SESSION

If your skills are a little limited or rusty, let us know. As you are the Skipper and you are responsible for the safety and well-being of your crew/family and friends, brushing up on your skills with our Sail Assistance Session is the perfect way to achieve peace of mind, with the confidence and competence that you gain. Your briefer will take you out after the morning briefing for your sail assistance session and provide instruction for around 3 hours after your initial boat briefing. (Basically it’s a valuable extension you can add to your Boat Briefing).

Please note: TV’s on the Boats are only for live streaming. Free to Air TV is not available as there are no aerials on the boats.

If your Boat is provided with Air Conditioning, Please note: *Air conditioning on a vessel operates very differently to air conditioning in a house. It requires to either be plugged into shore power or have a generator running.
