About Singapore

Singapore Island is surrounded by a wide scattering of islets providing the perfect destination for cruising vacations. This island in the sun is also home to prestigious events like the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, the WTA Finals and the Singapore Rugby Sevens. Singapore also hosts the annual Singapore Yacht Show so make sure you have your camera ready to capture vessels of all shapes and sizes.

Known as a global financial centre with a multicultural population and a tropical climate, Singapore really is a superyacht charterer’s dream. One of the most popular attractions on the island is its cricket field which has been established since the 1830s. It’s on the Padang and has the City Hall with 18 Corinthian columns flanking it. Take a trip to Chinatown where you will see the beautiful red and gold Buddha Tooth Relic Temple or try the tempting local food. 

Singaporeans just love eating so join them with authentic local dishes from a stall or dine in one of the Michelin star restaurants. Singapore is a melting pot of cultures starting off with the Chinese New Year in January. June sees the Hari Raya Puasa, a religious holiday, where you can visit the annual bazaar at Geylang. Join in Deepavali in October, this is a Hindu festival which celebrates the festival of lights.

Superyacht Charter Infrastructure

Singapore has two main marinas, the award-winning Oneo15 Marina where the Singapore Yacht Show is held. The other is at Keppel Bay which offers more than 300,000 square feet of berths that can accommodate the largest of superyachts. Weather conditions are warm and humid throughout the year hovering between 24oC in the morning, rising to 31oC during the day, perfect for yacht chartering. There are plenty of beaches to enjoy on the island such as Sentosa Beach, Tanjong Beach and Changi Beach, a narrow strip of sand with a popular coastal park nearby.

The Singapore Yacht Show is also a very important event in the region with many luxury yacht makers and suppliers showing their products to a an emerging Asia superyacht market.

What Else To Do

With all year-round shopping, take a walk to the iconic shopping district on Orchard Road. Step into the Sephora or Uniqlo outlets and have a field day buying a new wardrobe of clothes. For those who love the arts, there are festivals like the Singapore Writers Festival and Art Week. Local theatres show favourite Broadway hits or get tickets for some of the best annual music events like Neon Lights or St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. 

This friendly island in South East Asia has plenty of family-friendly attractions like KidZania and Playeum as well as fantastic theme parks. Fancy dancing the night away? Head to the night life district of Clarke Quay, have a drink or two and enjoy meeting new people. A Singapore cruising vacation can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a South-East Asia itinerary. What is the maximum number of guests you can charter?

Commercial charters typically accommodate up to 50-55 guests due to insurance considerations. Everyone, regardless of age, is counted as a guest.

At SAILUXO, we match yachts to your event type and requirements. For larger gatherings, a creative solution can involve joining multiple yachts. However, bookings operate on a first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, we recommend securing your charter 3-4 months in advance for special occasions.

How much does it cost to charter a yacht?

Yacht charter costs vary depending on size and guest count:

Small Sized yacht: Suitable for 10 guests, prices range from $500-$1000 for 3-4 hours.

Mid-Sized yacht: Prices range between $1500-$3000.

Premium & Luxury Super yacht: Prices range between $4000-$15,000.

Please note these costs can fluctuate based on the number of guests. For the best advice, we recommend speaking with our yacht specialists.

Can I bring my own food and drinks on the yacht?

Absolutely, you're welcome to cater your own food and drinks.

Can we bring our own alcohol onboard?

Absolutely, guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol. However, please note that some yachts have specific rules regarding red wine . In case of any spillage causing stains or damage to the yacht's facilities, guests may be liable for the cleanup or repair costs.

There is no industry-wide standard for the difference between super yacht and mega yacht. The only legal distinction between them is the length of the yacht - above 24 metres and above 50 metres respectively

In recent years, these yachts have evolved from fairly simple vessels with basic accommodation into sophisticated and luxurious boats.

Motor Yacht

Commonly known as recreational yachts that normally range from 10 metres and above; and made of fibreglass, aluminium, steel or carbon fibre. Clever use of ergonomics allows interior space in the salon for a galley (kitchen), bedroom, navigation area and equipment plus large deck areas in some for relaxation.

A catamaran is a two hulled craft that derives stability on water from its wide beam that reduces the rocking motion. The two hulls are connected by a bridging structure with webbing. Catamarans have large and spacious interiors and cabin space. Catamarans usually have a shorter draft than monohulls.

Its proximity to Singapore, makes the country even more attractive for a weekend getaway for 2-4 days to nearby islands like Mapur, Nikoi, Pulau Pankil, Bintan and Batam and even the most scenic Anambas Islands. Very few sailing experiences can compare with the culture, history and scenery that Indonesia has to offer, so why not be one of the few to properly explore the magical waters.

The best sailing destination in South East Asia. Thailand is located very close to the equator and outside the cyclone zone of the Pacific and Indian Ocean. That’s why it is possible to sail all the year around. The northeast monsoon (dry season) begins in November and ends in April. The wind speed during this time is between 5 and 20 knots (1 kn = 1.852 km/h) from northeast. The southwest monsoon (rainy season) begins in May and takes place until October. During this time there is much wind and better sailing conditions as in the dry season. From Singapore, if you are planning a voyage to Phuket and nearby islands, then a 12-15 days trip would be ideal. Important information before you charter

• All prices quoted below are inclusive of the prevailing tax.
• Only fully vaccinated passengers are allowed onboard the SZH-licensed pleasure craft. Unvaccinated passengers (other than recovered individuals, medically ineligible individuals, or children aged 12 years and below) are not allowed to board the craft.
• All rates listed are for basic charters only (4-5 hours depending on the yacht). For the standard itinerary,  please click here .
• Optional add-ons such as city skyline cruises may still be chargeable, depending on the yacht.
• Optional add-ons such as BBQ pit and cooking services  DO NOT  include food.
• Ice (otherwise stated), disposable cutlery, and cups are not provided.

• Do note for wet weather, the Captain will still sail out if it does not pose any safety issues. If it is not possible to sail out, the Captain will try to  delay  the sail out timing. If it is not possible to sail, the charter will be  rescheduled  to a later date (subject to availability).  No cancellations  are allowed. The Captain will decide what is the next course of action.  Customers are still required to proceed to the marina and wait for the captain’s final decision.
• Disembarkation at Lazarus Island Pontoon is no longer permitted by MPA unless the yacht has a tender boat.
• Balloons are prohibited due to marine life preservation.
• Red wine is strictly prohibited on all yachts except for Anka and EagleWings 1 and 2.
• Covid-19 cancellation/ rescheduling terms and conditions If no social gatherings are allowed, we would reschedule the charter up to a mutually agreeable date and time. No cancellations will be permitted. Strictly  NO  refunds and postponements, should there be any reduction in headcount for social gatherings by the MMTF, charterers will need to reduce their own headcount and consume the charter. Notwithstanding the above, there are no refunds or reschedules for bookings even if guests are tested positive for COVID-19, unless agreed by the yacht owners.

Superyachts

Although Singapore doesn’t have your typical superyacht playground of activities like the beach clubs in Thailand or idyllic islands of Indonesia , Singapore is always on superyacht captains consideration for cruising through Asia. Stacked with reliable services and supplies, Singapore welcomes thousands of vessels a month of all shapes and sizes, this allows shipyards and service suppliers to be able to cater to the ever growing superyacht size and quantity on the water.

“Generally, superyachts planning to leave the Mediterranean for Asia, will plan to stop in Singapore, like-wise, superyachts looking to depart for the Mediterranean will use Singapore a their final destination in Asia for supplies, shipyards or crew change.”

BERTHING: Their are 4 marinas in Singapore that have superyacht berths, Raffles Marina , ONE15 Marina , Marina at Keppel Bay and Republic of Singapore Yacht Club , whilst most options are alongside or ground anchors buoys, there are two notable 90m(+) large yacht berthing locations at the east wharf of Keppel Island  and at the  HarbourFront Cruise Centre . Both need to be booked through agents with experience of booking this type of berth. Superyachts coming to Singapore but not intending to stay can utilise the Eastern and Western Anchorages for suppliers and bunkering to be delivered.

PILOT:  Superyachts over 300GT will require a pilot to board the vessel outside Eastern or Western Anchorage. For more details on pilotage, please click  here . The Singapore office has more than 20 years experience on the ground working with super and mega yachts. We have handled some of the world’s largest and most prestigious yachts that have called into Singapore.

Singapore is rapidly becoming a place you must see in Asia with various attractions, including two new integrated resorts and the world’s only F1 night race along the streets of downtown Singapore.

Singapore is located centrally in South East Asia being only 1 degree north of the equator we do not get severe weather making it a convenient and safe place to act as a “base” for year-round regional cruises with owners and guests.

Singapore has Superyacht berths in several marinas island wide and a wharf that can be used for berthing very large yachts alongside that is located on the south central coast.

We utilise two shipyards specifically for yacht repairs, one is having a 450-ton “travel Lift” with a clean hard standing and the other has two “graving docks”, one is 100 meters and the other is 120 meters. Repairs afloat is a very popular here as well due to the concentration of shipbuilding and engineering firms in Singapore it’s relatively easy to get the services required.

Our team over the years has been involved in virtually every aspect of the servicing a yacht from inbound/outbound clearance procedures to provisioning, engineering repairs and surveys. We provide bunkers and lube oils including jet fuel, fine gourmet foods and the freshest produce. We strive to be your go-to guys for all of your requirements while both in Singapore and further afield. We regularly send supplies to yachts cruising in the region.

• Raffles Hotel – a Singaporean institution which has become a byword for oriental luxury.
• Arab Street – the Muslim centre of Singapore and a traditional textile district.
• Chinatown – Singapore’s cultural heart where calligraphers and fortune tellers are still a part of everyday life.
• Duty-Free shopping
• Little India – full of interesting little shops selling obscure items. The Zhujiao Centre is the main market.
• Orchard Road – where high-class hotels, shopping centres, nightspots, restaurants, and bars dominate.
• Jurong Town – west of the city centre, Jurong Town is home to the Haw Par Villa (a Chinese mythological theme park), the beautifully landscaped Jurong Bird Park, Chinese & Japanese Gardens and the Singapore Science Centre.
• Sentosa Island – the city-state’s most visited attraction including museums, aquariums, beaches (with imported sand), sporting facilities, walks, rides, food centres and a marina.
• Clear blue water

Singapore is an equatorial country with relatively uniform temperature, abundant rainfall and high humidity. The average daily temperature is 27° C. December and January are generally the coolest months. Singapore lies in the path of two monsoons that cause rainfall all year round. Most rainfall occurs during the northeast monsoon from November to March. During the south-west monsoon season from June to September, much of the rain falls in short, intense showers that alternate with the sunshine.

Up to date, charts are essential as the government has an intensive land reclamation program and the island is growing annually.

Cruising Guide

The Cruising Guide to Southeast Asia Volume One by Stephen Davies & Elaine Morgan covers the South China Sea including the Singapore, Gulf of Thailand, East Malaysia (northern Borneo), Hong Kong and Macau, the Philippines, and Brunei. The text provides sailing directions supported by detailed charts and harbour plans and anchorages. It also provides important background information on the countries, culture, politics, navigation, and equipment. The Cruising Guide to Southeast Asia can be found in bookshops or can be purchased on-line from companies such as Armchair Sailor Seabooks and Bluewater Charts & Books.

A Singapore courtesy flag should be displayed whenever entering Singapore waters.

The Singapore Flag is halved horizontally – the red half is symbolic of universal brotherhood and equality of man and the white half signifies pervading and everlasting purity and virtue. The crescent represents a young country on the ascent in its ideals of establishing democracy, peace, prosperity, justice and equality as indicated by the five stars.

With the high standard of living, continued prosperity and increased civic consciousness, Singapore is a relatively crime-free society by international standards. Singapore’s safe-haven image was further boosted in February 2001 with police reporting a 15 percent drop in reported crime in 2000.

Marina Facilities

Singapore has all the facilities a Superyacht could possibly require, including at least two marinas: Raffles Marina and the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club. For Superyachts requiring repair or a re-fit Singapore’s Penguin Boat International Ltd has haul-out facilities for Superyachts and is a convenient place to stop off on the way to or from Phuket. There are many marine suppliers on the island, and therefore sourcing of parts and marine items is always very convenient.
