The ALFA NERO Superyacht has advanced the design and innovative nature of all large superyacht designs today and the way in which this innovation transcends not only from exterior design but to the use of very unique finishes throughout make this THE super yacht to own that is floating today. The upper deck is given over to the owner’s residence. The aft deck includes settees that flank a skylight. The sky-lounge and dining room are surrounded with wenge panels and what has come to be known as the “golf ball” wall. Scalloped panels are covered in white lacquer with a mother-of-pearl look, giving the walls a textured effect reminiscent of abstract, flattened golf balls. The wall covering enlarges the room’s appearance and sets the mood to that of a European nightclub even in the light of day. The swimming pool on the main deck converts to a heli pad which is one of the most innovative things seen on any yacht in the past.

Exterior Design

Alfa Nero won numerous design awards for her innovative approach to superyacht living, including her huge beach club area and swimming pool on the aft deck conceived by exterior designer Carlo Nuvolari, a design now incorporated into many subsequent yachts.

Performance & Range

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 295,000 litre fuel tanks at 14 knots.

When not cruising Alfa Nero has onboard an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to connect with the waters around you. Guests can experience the thrill and adventure of riding one of the four Yamaha WaveRunners. In addition there are towable toys offering fun and adventure. Also there are six waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. If that isn't enough Alfa Nero also features a seabob, wakeboards, kayaks, inflatable water toys, kneeboards. When it comes to Tenders, Alfa Nero has you covered - with three tenders, including a 8m/26'3" Yachtwerft Meyer Limo Tender.

Alfa Nero and her crew are available for charter this summer for cruising within the Mediterranean. She is already accepting bookings this winter for cruising in the Caribbean.

Built by the renowned Dutch shipyard Oceanco with an exterior designed by the celebrated team at Nuvolari Lenard and an exquisite interior by the talented Alberto Pinto, ALFA NERO is not just a yacht; she is a floating work of art.

From the moment you step onboard, you will feel like you are a part of something extraordinary. Her sleek, instantly recognizable exterior, highlighted by a dramatic black steel hull and light superstructure, reflects the artistry of Nuvolari Lenard’s design philosophy. This striking profile, with its low stern and minimal overhangs was a departure from conventional superyacht design, breaking the mold and setting a new standard for luxury yachts forever more.

One of ALFA NERO’s most defining features is her expansive aft deck, which houses the first ever statement rear swimming pool. This revolutionary infinity jet pool with glass waterfall siding can be raised to transform the aft deck into a huge entertainment space at the push of a button. This revolutionary stroke of engineering genius is a testament to the technical prowess behind ALFA NERO, presenting both versatility and luxury in one spectacular package.

Step inside and ALFA NERO’s interiors immediately impress with their blend of classic elegance and modern flair. Alberto Pinto’s vision draws inspiration from pop art and Art Deco, seamlessly incorporating visually arresting details which are brought to life throughout with the use of the finest materials from around the globe. The yacht’s impressive 1,250 square meters of living space is adorned with exquisite hardwoods, luxurious leathers, elegant fabrics, and precious metals, all contributing to this classic yet contemporary design.

Pinto’s timeless base of monochrome is accented by pops of coordinated color, modern, art, and intricate textures. Major Lichtenstein lithographs hang from the wenge wood panels in the main salon with the grand Pleyel piano finished in black lacquer and etched with an intricate white wave pattern. Scalloped wall panels lacquered in white create a mother-of-pearl effect adding a texture reminiscent of abstracted golf balls to the upper salon while vibrant works by Takashi Murakami inject color into this space. From zig-zag woodwork to bold striped flooring, stylised graphic leaf designs on cushions, Pop Art swirls, dots and bubbles unite the aesthetic throughout the yacht to one that is undeniably luxurious and completely and utterly unique.

Twelve guests can be accommodated onboard ALFA NERO in six beautifully appointed cabins across three decks. These can be accessed via a glass-enclosed guest elevator that glides from the lower to upper decks, passing tall, glowing, crystal sculptures and a leather mosaic lining the circular wrap-round stairwell.

The vast master suite occupies the entire forward section of the upper deck and is a private sanctuary with complete seclusion from the rest of the guest accommodation. It features an opulent bedroom with a super king-sized bed, a generous walk-in wardrobe with dressing table, and an expansive ensuite bathroom with stunning marble and cherrywood finishes. There is also a vast private office complete with its own shower room for added convenience. The suite extends forward onto a private exterior deck with a Jacuzzi pool, sunpads, and a dining area, all of which are completely isolated ensuring the utmost privacy for ALFA NERO’s primary guests.

The remaining guest accommodation can be found across the main and lower decks. This includes two VIP double suites, a further double cabin, and two twin cabins that can convert into a double bed sleeping arrangement for added versatility. The lower deck VIP suite has direct access to the onboard spa area and its sea terrace, while the main deck VIP suite features his-and-her bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.

Each cabin offers guests a unique experience with individually-styled décor, meticulously designed with carefully coordinated colors and materials, from the bedheads to the cushions and lamps.

ALFA NERO’s amenities are as impressive as her design, offering a range of facilities that cater to every whim. The yacht’s top deck is home to a well-appointed gym with 180-degree views, allowing guests to work out while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The gym is equipped with an array of fitness equipment, and the fully qualified crew is on hand to assist with health and fitness assessments. After a workout, guests can unwind in the adjacent steam room or step out onto the deck and enjoy the Jacuzzi pool. There is an option too to head downstairs and sweat it out in the main deck sauna, or simply relax in the lower deck spa area with one of the many treatments available from the onboard therapist.

The entertainment options onboard ALFA NERO are endless. For a cinematic experience guests can head to the upper salon where they will find a large projector screen and impressive surround sound system. The main salon too features a large plasma screen, but perhaps here enjoying the melodies of the grand piano whilst lounging in the over-sized sofas would better suit. This salon flows perfectly into the pool deck and with the retractable glass doors guests can enjoy this space however best fits the occasion.

For alfresco dining and socializing, the pool deck is ALFA NERO’s coup de maître and offers one of the largest open aft decks available on any yacht. The large central pool is flanked by sunloungers and the bar and plentiful seating areas are reminiscent of a South Beach hotel pool. This area is perfect for enjoying stunning views, whether it’s the lapping waves, a fiery sunset, or a star-studded night sky. Mist sprays keep guests cool during the day, while at night, the sub-lit pool and advanced sound system create an electric atmosphere, making the aft deck the ultimate venue for parties and celebrations.

Twenty-five crewmembers look after each of the yacht’s twelve guests. A professionally trained international team eager to exceed guests’ expectations. Motor yacht Alfa Nero was launched in 2007 by renowned Dutch shipyard OceAnco, bursting onto the yachting scene with uncommon fervour by breaking the contemporary mould of large superyacht design. At 82 metres her build triggered a paradigm shift in luxury yacht design with exteriors by the celebrated team at Nuvolari & Lenard and interiors from the talented Alberto Pinto.

Constructed with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Alfa Nero can accommodate 12 guests in six lavish cabins. With 1,250-square metres of living space across her 82 metre hull, she provides plenty of space for a bridge deck gym, three separate dining areas, a dance room, pantries on the three guest decks, a separate crew lounge, and a lift servicing and connecting all decks.

The build of motor yacht Alfa Nero was driven by a desire to offer her owners the ultimate luxury cruising experience in their home sailing grounds of the Mediterranean, maximising the lifestyle elements of this part of the world.

This easily recognisable luxury vessel is anything but short of innovative facilities. Amongst her stand-out features is the Nuvolari-designed aft deck ‘beach club’ which features an immense glass-ended pool whose floor can be partially or fully raised, transforming it into a dance floor or helipad on demand.

Her exterior is highlighted by a long, low stern which dominates a large proportion of the super yacht’s length and leads her sleek profile. To outside on-lookers, her most eye-catching feature is the open aft deck and minimal overhangs that offer a departure from conventional design. Each overhang is defined by a stainless steel, oval rail that serves a purpose as illuminative, decorative or environmental.

Outdoor living is undoubtedly a significant feature of her design as she features an impressive amount of space for leisure and entertainment including the 7 x 3.5m swimming pool which stands as one of the largest ever incorporated on a yacht.

The pop-art inspired Pinto interior hints at a nautical theme, particularly evident in details such as side tables resembling staghorn coral and seashell images lining the guest hallway. The intricate staircase wrapping around the glass elevator shaft, two al fresco spa-pools, massage room and gym only add to the subtle elegance of the luxurious vessel.

Amongst her six cabins are an indulgent master stateroom; two double VIP suites; one double guest cabin; and two twin guest cabins. Luxury yacht Alfa Nero is powered by two MTU 4,680hp diesel engines that allow her to reach a maximum speed of 20 knots and cruise comfortably at 18.

The ALFA NERO yacht is 82.27 meters (266.8 ft) long with a 14.2-meter (46.7 ft) beam and a 3.9 meter (12.1 ft) draft.

She weighs 2,159 tons and can reach top speeds of 21 knots but cruises comfortably at 14 knots. She is powered by twin MTU diesel engines .

The exterior of the ALFA NERO yacht was developed by Nuvolari Lenard , an Italian yacht design studio.

She has actually won numerous awards for her exceptional exterior and continues to impress the industry despite her age.

The onboard beach club is very large considering she only has a total length of 82.27 meters (266.8 ft).

She also has an infinity pool on the aft deck that can be converted into a helicopter landing pad if required which is yet another unusual feature. 

Guryev bought ALFA NERO for US $120 million in 2014 and had her refit in 2021. She has annual running costs of US $6 to 12 million.

Her weekly charter price lies between US $730,000 and 940,000, depending on the season.

Brokerage boat of the month: Aalto, the high-volume yacht with an interior by iconic Parisian designers

Every month we place a spotlight on one of the best-designed brokerage boats that have joined the market, changed agents or have had a significant price drop. For August, the 80-metre yacht Aalto is our Brokerage Boat of the Month. 

Nuvolari Lenard was responsible for her exterior design, while iconic Parisian designers Agence Pinto worked up her interior. Aalto is listed for sale with multiple brokers for the Monaco Yacht Show , comprising Matt Pinckney at Burgess , Charles Carveles at Edmiston and James Pool at Y.CO. Her asking price is €79,750,000. 

BOAT's brokerage editor says:

Aalto sports a powerful exterior by Nuvolari Lenard that contains a high-volume 2,310GT interior, exquisitely finished and detailed by Paris-based Agence Pinto. Constructed in the Netherlands by Oceanco , she is packed with design features – including a stabilised pool table, heated pool, owner's suite with two Jacuzzis, circular skylights, circular indoor-outdoor dining room – while remaining gimmick-free and purposeful, with life rafts positioned outboard for safe automatic deployment.

The brokers say:

Burgess' Matt Pinckney said: "This Dutch-built yacht offers a unique chance to own a pedigree yacht at a fraction of current build costs." Y.CO's James Pool agreed, adding: " Aalto offers a great opportunity in today’s market to purchase a reputable Oceanco Y700 platform, commercially compliant and ready to go." The third joint central agent, Edmiston's Charles Carveles concluded: "As part of the Oceanco Y700 series, Aalto is a proven platform for both owner's use and charters worldwide – with one owner from new and benefiting from constant maintenance."

What makes her special?

Nuvolari Lenard's Dan Lenard exclusively told BOAT International that Aalto was the first of a range to use the Oceanco standard platform, named Y700. "This concept was new in the 80-metre-plus sector," he recalled, noting this was the first time that Aalto was based on a  "3D superstructure' design". "Before, Aalto designs were flat." The superstructure also had "portions of the side decks being wider than the hull’s maximum beam", which is now quite commonplace in the industry.

 "Her top deck pool was a daring step ahead on the outside deck design," he continued. "She marked Oceanco as an innovative and open-minded shipyard with a vision of pushing the bar, with every boat coming out of their sheds in the years to come." Her design followed the 81.3-metre Alfa Nero , which "introduced the stern pool", and the 85.5-metre Vibrant Curiosity , with a pool on the upper deck.

No expense was spared when it came to design details either, with Aalto originally decorated in 2007 by Agence Pinto under the artistic direction of the renowned designer Pietro Scaglione, who is famed for his maximalist extravagant interiors.

Thierry Seigle of Agence Pinto said: " Aalto is a floating masterpiece that embodies elegance and luxury in every detail of its design".  He added that Pinto "infused this vessel with a unique Art Deco ambience. Every space on board reflects the opulence and glamour of the 1920s, with noble materials, geometric patterns and rich colours creating a sophisticated yet warm atmosphere". Carefully selected works of art are found throughout, with splendid lounges, cabins and relaxation areas, including a billiard room, "which have been designed to offer guests absolute comfort". Summing up: "We can see that she has stood the test of time over the past 20 years."
