Café Zéphyr:

On the hotel’s ground floor and spilling fashionably into the alfresco terrace. This is a great place to catch up with your travel plans, meet friends and join the young Jersey crowd enjoy a delicious brasserie type meal.

Open all day from 9am till 9.30pm for food orders and 1am for drinks.

Just perfect for a steak and a glass of wine.

Open from 12.00 till 10.45pm for food orders. Last orders on Sunday 9.45pm.

The Royal Yacht Hotel is a modern, luxury spa hotel situated in  St Helier  town centre (110 rooms).  It has several quality waterfront restaurants (Sirocco, Café Zephyr, The Grill and The Drift), popular bars with live entertainment (The P.O.S.H Bar, The Cabin and The Lazyjack), luxury spa (‘Spa Sirène’), gym and indoor swimming pool.

A popular wedding and conference venue. There are 9 rooms licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and high-tech boardrooms with a capacity for up to 150 delegates.

Although the hotel has no parking there is a public car park 2 minutes walk away. The bus station is just a 3 minute walk and there are frequent buses so exploring Jersey by bus is easy.

The director of a nonprofit organisation that helps people around the world build a place they can call home is set to deliver a talk in Jersey next week which hopes to highlight the importance of overseas volunteering.

Jersey Overseas Aid's '2025 Volunteering Opportunities' event will take place on Tuesday 10 September at the Royal Yacht hotel.

Eliza Sthapit, the National Director for Habitat and Humanity International in Nepal, will discuss the importance of volunteering in contributing to global development.

Habitat for Humanity works to improve the lives of communities in target countries of Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Zambia and Nepal.

The non-profit organisation has been partnered with JOA since 2011, and  supports charities working overseas and providing humanitarian assistance around the world.

Islanders were this year given a  "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity  to assist in a Habitat for Humanity  project in Malawi, when 14 people volunteered for a Global Village scheme to improve living conditions of the 6,200 people in the Magombo Village in Chitukula.

Richard Crane, JOA's Programme Associate, was in Malawi with the volunteers.

“This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience," he said.

"Under the guidance of JOA, we seamlessly integrated into Habitat for Humanity’s mission, building two houses for the most vulnerable community members.

"While the impact on the beneficiaries was visible, this experience's profound effect on me and my personal development was beyond anything I could have anticipated.”

Jersey’s Minister for International Development, Deputy Carolyn Labey, added: “We are incredibly proud of our volunteering programme and were thrilled that last year so many Islanders showed an interest in international development and were willing to give their time and their skills to benefit others.

“We look forward to hearing from Eliza about the ongoing work of Habitat for Humanity and how our volunteers have helped to deliver impact as part of the Global Village programme.

"It’s also a great opportunity for islanders to chat to previous volunteers to hear about their experiences.”
