Thinking of replacing the microwave with an air fryer on our 2000 410. Anyone do this or have any recommendations? We would be taking microwave out of cabinet and installing this or at least keep it in that cabinet and take out when using if need be

That could work. Depends on how you use your boat and what you need in the galley to suit your cooking preferences. We cook a lot on the boat and all kinds of meals, but we put the air fryer outside when using it. The cooking odors can be a bit much for us from it, depending on what’s cooking. We like the microwave/convection oven, couldn’t live without it, but that’s us. We also use an instapot quite a bit.

We usually use the grill at our dock but when traveling to other marinas, which we plan on doing a bit more, we’d like to do some cooking. Good tip on taking it out of the boat due to the aromas,

Love our air fryer at home. Takes more time, but even French fries reheated are awesome in an air fryer. If I could find one to replace the space of my microwave I would do it

My daughter showed me her new toaster oven that doubles as an "air fryer" and it was exactly the same model we have at home with some new labeling and a basket ours doesn't have. Google "air fryer convection oven" and you will get several articles explaining that air fryer is something of a marketing term. A convection oven can achieve the same result. So, I would look for a convection/microwave; you should be able to find one that fits the original cabinet. Hopefully the cabinet is already well ventilated.

I haven't bought an air fryer, yet. Looking at that feature with the next oven. On the boat? The microwave is too versatile to get rid of.

My mom was asking about air fryers and what they were. Simplest explanation is it's a high-powered counter-top convection oven. We have an air fryer at home. It's useful, cooks and reheats a wide variety of foods quickly. It's certainly more effective than our regular convection oven - heating element is closer to the food and air moves around far more rapidly. We do use our two Instant Pots more often though. I also thought about replacing our boat microwave/convection oven with an air fryer. If I could get a combo microwave/air fryer I might do it. But for me and based on our usage , I don't think I would trade off the microwave for just an air fryer. Certainly at home I use the microwave far more than either the air fryer or instant pot.

Check out the below, its a multi-function air fry, microwave, convection oven all in one... The dimensions are almost identical to the one in my 390... I can't speak for how it is yet but we plan on switching out to this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G4Q5196/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

The vent fan pulls the hot air out of the surrounding cabinet. I happened to be on the dock one day when my wife was using it and walked by the vent on the hull side. The air coming out of the vent was pretty hot. Never had an issue, but I have never forgotten it either. Some of them advertise that they need more space around them than the boat cabinets allow. Just be careful. I am going to look into this one above as well. Bennett Click to expand...

I'm not sure where you're getting that from? I'm sure some are better than others, however the reviews of the Tower T17079 3L Air Fryer that I bought on the Argos website are generally good, in fact some people rave about it in the same way some do on this thread. But I'm afraid I'm not a convert. The Argos reviews are genuine because a few wrote negative reviews complaining that theirs were faulty.   I am limited to 2kW by my inverter so while I could run a 1700w unit it means I've got to watch what else I'm using. It's just more practical to run smaller AC loads from inverters & batteries. But do we know for certain that a 1000w air fryer will cook slower than a 1700w unit? The cooking basket in my fryer is probably a lot physically smaller than yours which was part of the reason I bought it as I don't need a bigger model. For any given cooking space the fryers reach a cooking temperature which is regulated by a thermostat, so you might be right but I'm not sure if a smaller unit with a lower power draw will necessarily cook slower, or if it does then how significant that difference is.   I don't think it's the cost of the fryer that's influenced my opinion, I just don't really like the style of cooking and I'm sure I'd still feel the same if I'd spent £100. Anyway, the bottom line is that you're a fan and I'm not which is fine, we all have our own preferences and what you like doesn't have to be what I like and vice versa.

One big advantage for us is that we have a domestic sized gas fan oven which does seem to chuck a huge amount of heat into the boat, during cooking and for quite a while afterwards. Fine in the winter, problematic in the summer! Maybe with a wide beam this is less of an issue. But anyway the speed of heating up, lack of heating up the boat and perfectly ok cooking is what we like about it.

Which is what one expects really. Their purpose isnt really to cook things differently from an oven or in anyway 'better'.

They however generally cook quicker and dont need a pre heat (though some have this function) and being a smaller compartment they use less leccy, which if you are paying for it is an advantage. (I havent worked out the time and money taken to recoup the purchase cost though).

But if you generate your own power as on a boat with solar this isnt really a relevant factor.

But if you use one instead of a gas oven and/or hob you will save money on gas. (This is one reason why we got one for the caravan).

Ianws

Oven chips that take around 22 minutes in an oven take approx 11 minutes in an airfryer and are, in my opinion, better.

Hard disagree!  If you make your own electric from sunshine/wind/magic pixies as opposed to hookup or otherwise wasted diesel while cruising you are far more likely to want to save every precious kWh....

In summer it's less of an issue, so can someone arrange summer to happen please. Soon would be good!

You may be right but that's not what others have been saying. There are posts in this thread saying that things are cooked better, not just quicker. I've found neither to be the case and I don't eat chips so for me the thing is fairly pointless. I'll keep it for occasional use when it's sunny and it can save using gas as I'm probably going to have difficulty returning a used item. As others were saying at the start of this thread, it'll probably just end up being another gadget at the back of a cupboard that doesn't get used.

I was refering to the cost. Short cooking times are better cost wise, But when you generate your own leccy for free cost isnt a relevant. factor.

I bought this one a few months ago when it was £50.   https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2998361?clickSR=slp:term:instant air fryer:2:71:1

It's on the boat but only for use in the marina, left in the car boot when we go out (batteries, solar and inverter are not up to it). I bought something similar for home use.

Observations...

Chicken thighs seem to work better than legs. I cook them upside down for about 10 minutes then right way up for about 15 minutes. The crispy skin is far better than in my fan oven at home.

Seasoned potato wedges work well. I par boil for 5 minutes, leave in the hot water for another 5, drain and leave a few minutes to dry off. Stick into air fryer basket, bit if oil, bit of seasoning, shake all about, cook on full with a shake every 5 minutes until they look good enough to eat.

Occasionally cook oven chips but not that fussed.

Very good for heating up pies and pasties etc. Far better than the microwave!

Probably my favourite use is homemade bread rolls. The c.4 litre size is perfect for 4 bread rolls made with about 440g of dough (275g flour, 165g water, optionally about 30g of seeds). Mixed up (NOT kneaded) before bedtime using just one third of a teaspoon of yeast. Leave overnight. In the morning do a quick one minute knead to knock CO2 out then divide into 4 and place on a non-stick sheet in the basket, cover and leave to double in size. They join together as 4 batch rolls but separate easily after cooling. After trial and error I now cook for about 16 minutes at 180 then remove, peel off the non stick and put back upside down for 5 minutes to ensure the bottom is cooked. Lovely rolls and far more economical than doing in an electric oven.

You could flog it? The Cosori we have just bought for the caravan was sold by someone who for whatever reason just didn’t get on with it.

Forgot to mention, I went for this one and something similar for at home because I wanted simple manual controls. When you read the reviews concerning air fryers that failed soon after the warranty ran out it often seems to be the electronics that are the problem. Often an error code on the display and the damn thing is rendered useless.

gatekrash

We've got exactly the same model at home that @blackrose  has got. It does some things really well, some stuff not so well. Mainly depends on how full the basket is, as others have said.

We cook loads in ours, without issues as long as you don't overfill it and are sensible. It's also really good for keeping stuff warm without having to turn the fan oven on,...for example, this morning, the fried potatoes and mushrooms went into it to stay warm after being cooked whilst we cooked the black pud, bacon and eggs.

We've used it for sausages, chops (although our butcher pork chops are way too big to fit 😁 ), chicken thighs work well, heating pies etc.

Oven still goes on for anything bigger, like a full roast though.

Haven't got one on the boat as we don't have space for it.

I'll resurrect this one, as just watching a  Jamie Oliver prog on air fryer meals, which made me thought.....we use ours a lot in the house, but it's a big un.....will it be useable on the boat?

I'm currently educating the mrs that 2kw kettles, irons, toasters, grills are a no no on the boat, which is fine, we dont use them, but......just discovered our airfryer is 2470w 😯 😬 .

We are having a 5kw inverter and atleast 600Ah Lithium, I'm guessing the air fryer will be nowhere near its max most times, so is it doable? Or shore power only, which for the first year will be 3ish out of 7 days.

Or buy a lower powered airfryer.

Hopefully someone's gonna pop up and tell me they've got one and it's fine 😁 .

Ours is the Ninja Foodi dual zone, double drawer AF300UK.

Your airfryer will be drawing 250 (Two Hundred and Fifty) amps out of your battery bank whenever it is under power.

I have a 1400 watt air fryer with a 1200 AH battery bank, and that works for me.

Momac

We just bought an air fryer and tried it the first time yesterday evening at home. Hopefully it will not join my wife's collection of unused kitchen gadgets.

From a boating perspective we would be using the air fryer when hooked up to shore power which we have at our home mooring and at some locations we visit on our travels on salty water. Similarly we have an electric kettle on the boat  for use with shore power.

Used mine tonight excellent item, wouldn't be without it. Mine is an AF100UK and the batteries and inverter handle it fine

So if mine is 2470w and has 2 drawers, can I assume that if only one drawer is in use, it's max use would be 1235w?

21 minutes ago, Andyaero said: So if mine is 2470w and has 2 drawers, can I assume that if only one drawer is in use, it's max use would be 1235w?

Ninja site spec says one drawer is 1200W  https://ninjakitchen.co.uk/product/ninja-foodi-dual-zone-air-fryer-af300uk-zidAF300UK

5-Ingredient Air Fryer Zucchini Boats | Easy Low-Carb Air Fryer Dinner

Easy air fryer zucchini boats.

I love making vegetables in the air fryer ! It is quick, easy, and tastes so good. Today, I am so excited to share with you how to take your vegetables to the next level with this delicious and easy zucchini boat recipe in the air fryer ! You are going to love this recipe because you only need about 5 ingredients to make this simple and healthy air fryer recipe!

How to Prepare Zucchini Boats for the Air Fryer

This recipe was featured in one of my latest air fryer videos on YouTube where I share four easy 5 ingredient recipes ! And, for this simple air fryer recipe, you will need:

  • 1 pound ground beef/turkey
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper
  • 12 oz of marinara sauce
  • 2 medium zucchini
  • parmesan cheese (or your favorite cheese)

Okay, so there are two ingredients more than just 5 ingredients, but you will be surprised with how easy it is to make zucchini boats in the air fryer! Plus, this is a great recipe to make if you have leftover meat marinara sauce. It will cut your cooking time in half!

What Goes Inside A Zucchini Boat?

Prepare the meat marinara sauce that will go inside the zucchini boats by browning your meat with the onion, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Once cooked, add the marinara sauce. Like I mentioned, you can totally forgo this step if you have leftover sauce.

Also, feel free to add more or different seasonings to your marinara sauce. Add fresh garlic or garlic powder, fresh basil, oregano, or thyme!

How to Make Air Fryer Zucchini Boats

Prepare the zucchini by cutting in half lengthwise and scooping out the seeds. Pat dry any excess water and mist with oil and S&P. I love using this Mistifi oil sprayer .

Place in the air fryer basket and cook at 380˚F/192˚C for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.

Pro Tip for Cooking Zucchini in the Air Fryer

Since every air fryer make and model is different, and the size of your zucchini will be different than mine. Check on your zucchini after 5 minutes of cooking, and adjust the cooking time as needed. Once your zucchini is tender (you can check this by poking it with a fork), it is ready for the meat marinara sauce.

Finish with the Meat Marinara Sauce and Parmesan Cheese

Remove any excess moisture with a paper towel, add the meat marinara sauce to the zucchini boats, and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Finish cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Final Thoughts

I love how incredibly easy this recipe is to make! This air fryer recipe is nice, low-carb option. And let’s not forget to mention how tasty the zucchini is! Now that zucchini season is coming in full swing, you can bet that this will be a staple in our home this summer!

💡 Tips

1. try different seasonings.

One way to make your air fryer zucchini boats even more flavorful is to add seasonings to the sausage meat before stuffing it into the zucchini.

You can add garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, or any other spice you like.

2. Try Different Types Of Cheese

While cheddar and mozzarella cheese are the recommended types for this recipe, you can also use other types of cheese as well.

For example – parmesan cheese for a stronger, sharper flavor or Swiss cheese for a milder taste. You can also mix different types of cheese.

3. Add a Crunchy Topping For Texture

To add some extra texture to your zucchini boats, you can add a crunchy topping on top of the cheese.

You can use crushed crackers, panko breadcrumbs, or even crushed potato chips. The topping will add a crispy texture that contrasts with the soft zucchini and sausage filling.

4. Serve with a Side Salad or Garlic Bread

While the airfryer zucchini boats are delicious on their own, you can make this meal even better by serving them with a side salad or garlic bread .

A simple salad of mixed greens and vegetables, dressed with a vinaigrette, will complement the flavors of the zucchini boats. Garlic bread will add an extra layer of flavor and texture.

5. Add Some Heat With Jalapeno Peppers

You can add some diced jalapeno peppers to the sausage filling. The heat from the peppers will add a kick to the air fried zucchini boats and make them even more flavorful.

To add the jalapeno peppers, simply dice them finely and mix them with the sausage meat before stuffing the zucchini.

You can also sprinkle some diced peppers on top of the cheese before air frying the boats for an extra burst of heat.

6. Use Different Sauces For Variety

Tomato or pizza sauce are the recommended sauces for this stuffed zucchini air fryer recipe, but you can also try different sauces for variety.

Pesto sauce, alfredo sauce, or even barbecue sauce can add a unique flavor to the air fryer stuffed zucchini.

✔️ Variations

Greek Style Zucchini Boats: Instead of sausage meat, use ground lamb or beef seasoned with oregano, garlic, and lemon zest.

Top the meat with crumbled feta cheese, chopped tomatoes, and Kalamata olives before air frying. Serve with a side of tzatziki sauce for the perfect meal.

Tex-Mex Zucchini Boats: Use ground turkey or chicken seasoned with chili powder, cumin, and paprika.

Top with shredded cheddar cheese and diced tomatoes. After air frying, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro and serve with a side of salsa.

Caprese Zucchini Boats: Use fresh basil leaves, sliced cherry tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese as toppings for the zucchini boats before air frying them.

Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle with salt and pepper once cooked.

Philly Cheesesteak Zucchini Boats: Use thinly sliced ribeye steak, sautéed onions and peppers, and provolone cheese as toppings for the zucchini boats before air frying. You can serve with a side of creamy horseradish sauce.

Spinach and Artichoke Zucchini Boats: Mix cooked spinach, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, and Parmesan cheese together and use as the stuffing for the zucchini boats.

Top with additional Parmesan cheese before air frying. Serve with a side of garlic bread.

Making a pizza sauce for the zucchini boats is incredibly easy, and you can use either canned tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes as a base.

Ingredients:

1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the olive oil and minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and lightly browned.

Air Fryer Zucchini Stuffed With Hamburger (Keto & Low Carb)

Air fryer zucchini stuffed with hamburger seasoned with Italian spices, then topped with gooey cheese. Healthy and delicious meal is ready in 20 minutes!

When you want a flavorful meal that can be on your table in 20 minutes, zucchini boats are your answer!

Air fryer zucchini stuffed with hamburger and topped with cheese in a white casserole dish.

Air Fryer Zucchini

Stuffed zucchini has been around for awhile. This dish is quite popular among the low carb community, and for good reason!

Zucchini is one of those vegetables that are low in calories, filled with nutrients and has plenty of fiber to keep us full, and of course low in carbohydrates!

Plus, zucchini can be incorporated in our diets super easily. Have you tried my baked zucchini sticks ? They’re the best snack EVER!

However, I think the quickest way I eat this veggie is as a side dish. See how I tucked them into this Chicken Butternut Squash dish?

Plus, I can ALWAYS find zucchini in my grocery store or the produce stand year round.

Ingredients:

You don’t need a lot of ingredients to make air fryer zucchini stuffed with hamburger. Go ahead and adapt to what you have on hand. Let’s discuss:

  • Ground hamburger – feel free to use ground turkey, pork or chicken. You can also use a mix. One of my favorites combinations is ground beef and pork.
  • Zucchini – obviously! Pick ones that are about the same size in diameter and length. Take note of what will fit in your air fryer. The internal diameter of my air fryer is 7-inches. I want zucchini that are about 6 1/2-inches long.
  • Tomato sauce – I like tomato sauce because it’s flavorful and sugar free. You can also use a marinara sauce or spaghetti sauce. Just make sure to pick sugar free brands if you want to keep this dish low carb.
  • Spices – Italian spice blend is my go to because you get all the spices in one swoop. Add additional spices of your choice. I like to add a little more dried basil.
  • Cheese – mozzarella is always stocked in my refrigerator, but and combination of cheese will add a nice flavor. Sometimes I grate a little Parmesan cheese first, then top it with shredded mozzarella. Another delicious option if to spread a spoonful of ricotta over the meat before adding shredded cheese. Heavenly!

Preparing zucchini

As I mentioned earlier, pick zucchini that is close in size that can fit in your air fryer.

If you don’t have a small dish that fits in the air fryer, then you can place the prepared zucchini right in the air fryer.

Just spray with a little cooking spray or add a small sheet of foil to the bottom, but be sure that you allow for the air to circulate.

Step 1 – Clean zucchini

The first step is to wash the zucchini under cool water. Don’t scrub the zucchini with a vegetable brush.

Use your fingers to gently rub off any dirt or grime.

Step 2 – Cut zucchini

Remove the stems with a sharp knife, then cut the zucchini in half lengthwise.

Now you want to scoop the seeds out of the center of the zucchini to make room for the meat. Clear out the center, but leave plenty to keep the shape of the boat intact.

Zucchini sliced in half and some placed in a white baking dish.

Step 3 – Cook hamburger filling

Once you have prepared the zucchini boats season them and set them aside.

In a medium saucepan cook beef (drain if extra greasy), then add spices and tomato sauce. Fold in all ingredients until well incorporated.

Seasoned sliced zucchini with Italian spice.

Step 4 – Fill zucchini and cook in air fryer

Scoop the meat in the center of the prepared zucchini boats.

Place in the air fryer and top with cheese. Air fry at 350 ° F for 10 minutes. Note that you may need to to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer and zucchini.

What to serve with air fryer zucchini with hamburger

Although this dish is hearty and covers all your food groups just as it is, you may consider adding one of the following to this meal:

  • Persimmon Salad – This is a great basic salad even if you don’t add slices of persimmons.
  • Low Carb Cucumber Salad – Fresh herbs and vegetables. You’ll want to keep this one for your cookouts too.
  • Cabbage Salad Recipe – The textures and flavors are spot on – sweet and salty from feta and cranberries over a light vinaigrette.

Hope you enjoy this air fryer zucchini boats and find ways to add them to your meal plan!

Air fryer Zucchini Boats

Published: Jun 14, 2022 Modified: Jul 7, 2022 by Rachna ·

These zucchini boats done in air fryer are such a tasty main or appetiser. This recipe is keto and easy to put together. It is very versatile too and can be adjust to one’s preferences.

Zucchini is one of my favourite vegetables to cook in the air fryer.

You can try these roasted zucchini without breading , zucchini fritters and zucchini fries . They are all delicious.

Making zucchini boats is so easy. You can vary the stuffing any way you like.

Make it vegan, vegetarian or meaty. Every way it tastes delicious.

Tips to Make Perfect Zucchini Boats

  • Choose green zucchinis which are not too big. This is because we want the zucchini to be tender and not old and tough.
  • Scoop out the flesh using a spoon. Don’t use a knife as it will be uneven. Carefully scoop out all flesh to just leave the skin with a bit of flesh and a large cavity that you can fill with.
  • If you are using only vegetables for filling. You can cut them into small pieces and directly air fry the stuffing.
  • In case you are using lentils, beans, soy flakes, tempeh, diced tofu, paneer or minced meat, it is best to cook out the stuffing beforehand and let it cool down before stuffing the boats.
  • Use lots of cheese in this recipe. It makes the zucchini boats delectable. Use vegan cheese if vegan.
  • Use chopped onion, minced garlic and ginger and spices like cajun spice, peri peri spice or sauces like harissa, sriracha or chili garlic sauce for seasoning your stuffing. Just salt, pepper, garlic powder and some dried herbs work well too.
  • I prefer to precook the zucchini boats before adding the stuffing. I have found that the zucchini boats taste better this way.
  • This could be a great keto dish if you use only protein filling with cheese in zucchini boats.

air fryer on yacht

You can easily store the leftovers for upto a day in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Heat it through before serving.

Since zucchini is a watery vegetable, I do not recommend freezing these.

Variations:

  • Vegan : Use a vegan filling like boiled lentils, beans, diced tofu or tempeh along with vegetables. Use vegan cheese for topping.
  • Vegetarian : You can use diced paneer (cottage cheese), boiled or scrambled eggs, any of the vegan options for stuffing.
  • Meat : You can use minced chicken or beef in the stuffing.

Stepwise Pictures

Take each zucchini and scoop out the flesh with seeds. If the flesh is tender, I use it in the stuffing else I discard it.

If the zucchinis are longer, you can cut them into halves.

Heat 2 tsp. oil in a pan. Add 1 chopped onion with minced ginger and garlic.

Saute for about 3 minutes till browned. Add chopped tofu/ paneer. Add Harissa sauce and some Sriracha sauce. I like them hot.

  • You can add any chopped vegetables that you like broccoli, mushroom, pepper, corn, beans here and cook it down.
  • Let the stuffing cool down completely before using.

Air fryer Instructions

Preheat air fryer at 360F or 160C for 5 minutes. Brush scooped out zucchini boats with a bit of olive oil on both sides.

WHAT ARE ZUCCHINI BOATS?

If you have never heard of or tried zucchini boats you have missed out! Zucchini boats are basically zucchini that has been peeled (optional) and cut in half.

The halves are then hollowed out to resemble a canoe or small boat.

The hollowed-out area can be stuffed with all kinds of ingredients. Then they are cooked and it is a ONE-BOAT meal, LOL. This is a great way to use up all those garden zucchini .

INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER ZUCCHINI BOATS

This is a “meatless” air fryer zucchini boat recipe. Such a simple and LOW-CALORIE lunch or dinner.

  • Chili powder
  • Shredded cheese
  • Black pepper

EASY SUBSTITUTIONS FOR STUFFED ZUCCHINI

There are so many variations and substitutions you can make for these stuffed zucchini.

I love making Taco Zucchini Boats that incorporate black beans, corn, ground turkey and more.

This specific recipe is meat-free. But if you like meat and want to add some cooked ground beef, turkey or chicken that would be delicious.

Feel free to change up the diced veggies in this recipe to use what you already have in the refrigerator. Try to keep the amounts the same so you don’t end up with tons of extra filling! Here are some more ideas:

  • If you have leftover filling, save it in the refrigerator and make more zucchini boats in a few days. You could also use it in burritos.
  • Some other veggies that would be good in these air fryer zucchini boats are corn, carrots (chopped very small so they get tender), cherry tomatoes, green bell peppers or almost any veggie you like!
  • If you want to add some extra fiber try adding some cooked brown rice or quinoa.

HOW TO MAKE ZUCCHINI BOATS IN THE AIR FRYER

Zucchini boats are easy to make in the oven, but I think they turn out even better in the air fryer. Plus you don’t have to heat up the whole kitchen!

STEP ONE: PREPARE ZUCCHINI

Start off by washing the zucchini. Then slice each zucchini in half lengthwise down the center.

Scoop out the center of the zucchini with a spoon and remove all the seeds. Leave about a 1/2 inch border so the zucchini can be stuffed.

The zucchini halves should resemble canoes or boats.

zucchini cut into boats, unfilled

STEP TWO: MAKE FILLING

Prepare the veggies for the filling by chopping the Roma tomatoes into small pieces. Dice the jalapeno, removing the seeds if you want a milder kick. The red bell pepper should be diced into small pieces also.

In a medium bowl, combine the chopped Roma tomatoes, diced jalapeno, diced red bell pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, cheese, and salt and pepper.

Stir gently to mix the veggies and spices together.

bowl of chopped veggies for zucchini boats

STEP THREE: STUFF ZUCCHINI BOATS

Spoon the vegetable mixture into the zucchini halves so there is an equal amount in each boat.

If you like lots of cheese, you can add some extra cheese on top. Be sure to press the extra cheese down so it adheres to the veggie mixture and doesn’t blow around in the air fryer.

air fryer zucchini boats on a tray ready to be air fried

STEP FOUR: AIR FRY

Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (if you air fryer requires preheating).

Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Remember to not use aerosol sprays in the air fryer.

Place the zucchini boats in the air fryer basket and leave a little room around each one. If you have a small air fryer you may have to cook these in 2 batches.

Air fry for 10-12 minutes or until zucchini is cooked to your liking!

Remove zucchini from the air fryer basket and top with your choice of toppings or eat as is.

These are not that great as leftovers!!

WEIGHT WATCHERS POINTS

If you are doing the Weight Watchers program this is a WONDERFUL and LOW-POINT lunch or dinner recipe. It is an easy way to increase your vegetable intake for the day.

The serving size is one zucchini boat. There is only 1 point per boat on the green, blue and purple plans.

Remember if you add any optional toppings or add extra cheese, that will increase the points!

On the current WeightWatchers Program (2023) it is 2 points per boat.

These Air Fryer Salmon Bites taste like little bites of heaven! They’re golden, tender and literally melt in your mouth . Salmon has always been my favorite fish to eat, and this is one of my go-to recipes to make. It’s made with a simple marinade which becomes caramelized in the air fryer, with delicious crispy bits that are my fave part.

  • Salmon is of course the star of the dish, providing lean protein and healthy omega-3 fatty acids. You can either buy skinless salmon fillets or remove the skin yourself when slicing into salmon chunks
  • Soy sauce adds umami flavor and saltiness without the need of adding any extra salt. I always prefer to use low sodium soy sauce with reduced salt. You can substitute with tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free option if needed
  • Honey provides sweetness and helps with the caramelization. You can also  substitute with maple syrup or brown sugar
  • Garlic and ginger are grated into the marinade to add a delicious aroma and flavor
  • Sesame oil infuses the marinade with a delicious nutty flavor
  • Rice vinegar brings acidity and brightens the flavors

These salmon bites take little time to make thanks to the air fryer, providing an easy quick dinner. Follow my simple steps below.

Raw salmon cut into cubes

Remove the skin and any bones from the salmon then slice into 1 inch / 2.5 cms cubes

Marinade made in a glass container

In a container add the marinade ingredients (soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated garlic and ginger). Whisk to combine

Salmon added to marinade

Add the salmon and stir to coat all pieces. Leave to marinate in the fridge for minimum 10 minutes. If you have time, leave for a few hours

Salmon pieces placed in air fryer basket

Preheat air fryer to 190℉ / 200℃ and spray the basket with olive oil. Place salmon in a single layer, with space in between them (as pictured)

Marinade being brushed on salmon half way of cook time

Cook for 5-8 minutes (depends how you like it cooked), flipping them halfway and brushing over the leftover marinade

Cooked salmon in air fryer basket

To serve, garnish with sesame seeds, a drizzle of sriracha mayo with a side of rice and veggies or make a salmon bowl. Enjoy!

Air fryer salmon bites on a plate with sesame seeds

  • Brown or white rice
  • Quinoa or other grains
  • Steamed greens such as broccoli and asparagus
  • Roasted vegetables and cauliflower steaks
  • Orzo pasta salad
  • Salads, such as edamame salad or chopped Asian salad
  • Salmon tacos
  • Don't slice the salmon too small  as you don't want them to fall apart. I find 1 inch / 2.5 cm cubes are the perfect size
  • Marinate for as long as you can for extra flavor. You can prepare in advance and allow it to marinate for a few hours in the fridge
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket and cook in batches if needed. This way, you achieve even cooking with delicious caramelization on the outside
  • Adjust cooking time depending on how you like your salmon. If you prefer it cooked medium rare, cook for the lower time noted in the recipe
  • No air fryer, no worries . You can keep the recipe as is and pan fry for a few minutes on each side or bake in the oven (however it will have a longer cook time)
  • Store leftover salmon bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
  • You can freeze salmon bites in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Once thawed, reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes until warmed through
  • You can also leave uncooked leftovers to marinate in the fridge for two days

Close up of a piece of salmon held in chopsticks

Atlantic salmon filets are the most popular choice and readily available, but you can really use any type you prefer

Yes, its best to flip the salmon bites so they cook evenly and have a delicious char on all sides

Ensure to spray the air fryer basket with oil or you can also use parchment paper or foil if you prefer

Yes of course! Bake at 400℉ / 200℃ for about 8-12 minutes

Jammy Tuna Melt: The Most Decadent Breakfast Sandwich

I woke up craving tuna melt , and this is my favorite way of making it. The cheese at the top melts but also crisps up a little, giving it a crunch at the top. With rich egg yolk, melty cheese, and creamy tuna, It’s the perfect bite.

Today, we are making our tuna mix with black pepper and Japanese mayo. It’s one the sweeter side, and a little spicy. You can add your favorite spices and herbs to switch it up on your tuna mix. You can even add nuts or some veggies to make it extra fresh, like celery or bell peppers.

What Kind of Tuna I Use For Tuna Melt

Canned tuna might be a simple ingredient, but there’s tons of creative recipes you can make with one can! It’s a great protein In a pinch for a  Tuna Onigiri , or great as a filling for this Cheesy Tuna Melt. Combined with  shredded cheese and egg yolk,  this rich tuna topping really stands out in our cheesy melt.

and and replacing with .

The seems an easy decision: induction hob. We will need to swap out some of our beloved Tefal cookware with removable handles, but that’s OK.

For , we’re not just sure. We currently use our oven primarily for grilling (sandwiches, flat breads, vegetables, anything with a cheesy topping), roasting (vegetables, meat cuts), baking (breads, muffins) and keeping pancakes or bacon warm while more.

The only thing we don’t do on our that we do in our land home is using a microwave: defrosting things and vegetables.

Our oven choice has three options:[LIST][*] no oven, use countertop instead such as toaster oven, , etc[*] air fryer type countertop oven like this Sunbeam [*] built in convection oven with or without microwave capability such as this Panasonic

The costs go up as we go down the list.

Is there any need for microwave capability? We don’t have the time pressure on the , but cooking vegetables in a microwave is fast and efficient with no added .

Oh by the way , Im the cook , wifey isnt

I find a small electric chopper useful , and of course my nespresso machine !!

I had an electric stove in a previous boat , removed it for Gas, just like home a Gas stove is easily the best for those that like to cook

The biggest issue is my 2 ring gas stove is the limited space on the stove top

going back decades and wouldn't be without it. For me the microwave is needed 20x more often (if not more) than any kind of oven, but then, that depends on how you cook. I've had people on board who were baking something almost daily.

If I were building a , I would have a combination electric convection oven/microwave. Convection is the dog's bullocks. I don't mind cooking on a gas cooktop (even if induction is better), but gas ovens suck. Boat gas ovens double suck.

gas oven gets virtually no use , and it doesn’t even have a , which is occasionally useful. A good Dutch oven on the stove top is a good substitute anyway

I bake a lot at home , but rarely on the boat , I don’t eat bread or cakes , so stuff just goes off anyway as wifey only likes a small amount of these things . ( in the house I give-away a lot of baked goods ) I find in the heat , on the boat , there’s no demand for hot things generally and the oven adds heat to the

Agree 100% re microwave and if I had the space I’d go for a much fancier combination microwave . Right now I’m limited to a dinky 600w unit

  1. Air Fryer sizes vs watts

Let's say I want to cook 40L of food for 60 minutes. The 40L air fryer would be able to cook all the food in one hour, using exactly 800 watt hours. If I were to use the 5L air fryer, I would have to cook the 40L of food 8 times for 1 hour each, using 8 hours and a total of 6400 watt hours to cook all that food.

  2. Air fryer for the boat?

Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) Air fryers, the latest kitchen must-have, apparently. We have a bit of a problem in that the boat has a full size gas fan oven. It is great in many ways but it does chuck out a lot of heat, both during cooking and for quite a while afterwards when the fan continues to run blowing air between inner and outer ...

  3. Combo microwave/convection oven/air fryer recommendations?

The microwave and convection oven are excellent. Don't buy it for the broiler or air-fryer as neither is really hot enough. It's handy that the heat exhausts primarily to the back. The sides do not get hot so they can be mounted close to cabinetry as long as there is a few inches of air space on top and behind.

  4. Ever heard of an Airfryer?

We use a family sized airfryer on our boat. It is not a pressure cooker. It is a circular free standing frier with a slowly rotating paddle that uses a table spoon of olive oil (for us) to 'fry' 1.5kg of fries - they look and taste great. We run ours from the invertor. It takes 22 minutes to cook the fries.

  5. Galley Gadgets for Your Boat

    2. Air Fryer. This ingenious appliance comes in a range of compact sizes that will easily fit in a cupboard or under a bunk. They are great for cooking things like chicken wings, French fries, fried chicken, fish and veggies. Air fryers crisp up food and cook it quickly without using oil.

  6. Air Fryer on boat? : r/Narrowboats

Most airfryers will draw at least a kilowatt on startup (although once up to temp apparently they draw is much lower) so you'd have to have an inverter (battery power to 240v converter) to handle this. The next consideration is battery capacity. 1000w at 12v is 83amps. Assuming you're cooking for half an hour that's ~42ah of battery capacity used.
