Boat: Bavaria 36 | Oh by the way , Im the cook , wifey isnt I find a small electric chopper useful , and of course my nespresso machine !! I had an electric stove in a previous boat , removed it for Gas, just like home a Gas stove is easily the best for those that like to cook The biggest issue is my 2 ring gas stove is the limited space on the stove top |

Boat: Maine Cat 38 | oven on board which gets lots of use. However I have found a cast iron pan with a lid is also an excellent baking tool. |

Boat: Pacific Seacraft 31 | and never use my propane oven anymore. I have learned to make even reasonable biscuits on the cooktop with by preheating the pan lid on the burner. I loved to cook when I lived on land but it is too hot on the boat to cook for more than 15 minutes anyway and my cooking habits have changed accordingly. |

Boat: 50ft Custom Fast Catamaran | bake, but it is quite capable of cooking a pizza and it’s good to run the a couple times a week for an hour or something. Note: we are installing or getting a griddle for the and actually are putting in a Korean bbq table out in the aft area. The oven just isn’t used enough to dedicate a large area, the weight and propane hookup. |

Boat: Cutter-Rigged Moody 54 | going back decades and wouldn't be without it. For me the microwave is needed 20x more often (if not more) than any kind of oven, but then, that depends on how you cook. I've had people on board who were baking something almost daily. If I were building a , I would have a combination electric convection oven/microwave. Convection is the dog's bullocks. I don't mind cooking on a gas cooktop (even if induction is better), but gas ovens suck. Boat gas ovens double suck. |

Boat: Bavaria 36 | gas oven gets virtually no use , and it doesn’t even have a , which is occasionally useful. A good Dutch oven on the stove top is a good substitute anyway I bake a lot at home , but rarely on the boat , I don’t eat bread or cakes , so stuff just goes off anyway as wifey only likes a small amount of these things . ( in the house I give-away a lot of baked goods ) I find in the heat , on the boat , there’s no demand for hot things generally and the oven adds heat to the Agree 100% re microwave and if I had the space I’d go for a much fancier combination microwave . Right now I’m limited to a dinky 600w unit |

Let's say I want to cook 40L of food for 60 minutes. The 40L air fryer would be able to cook all the food in one hour, using exactly 800 watt hours. If I were to use the 5L air fryer, I would have to cook the 40L of food 8 times for 1 hour each, using 8 hours and a total of 6400 watt hours to cook all that food.
Posted December 5, 2022 (edited) Air fryers, the latest kitchen must-have, apparently. We have a bit of a problem in that the boat has a full size gas fan oven. It is great in many ways but it does chuck out a lot of heat, both during cooking and for quite a while afterwards when the fan continues to run blowing air between inner and outer ...
The microwave and convection oven are excellent. Don't buy it for the broiler or air-fryer as neither is really hot enough. It's handy that the heat exhausts primarily to the back. The sides do not get hot so they can be mounted close to cabinetry as long as there is a few inches of air space on top and behind.
We use a family sized airfryer on our boat. It is not a pressure cooker. It is a circular free standing frier with a slowly rotating paddle that uses a table spoon of olive oil (for us) to 'fry' 1.5kg of fries - they look and taste great. We run ours from the invertor. It takes 22 minutes to cook the fries.
2. Air Fryer. This ingenious appliance comes in a range of compact sizes that will easily fit in a cupboard or under a bunk. They are great for cooking things like chicken wings, French fries, fried chicken, fish and veggies. Air fryers crisp up food and cook it quickly without using oil.
Most airfryers will draw at least a kilowatt on startup (although once up to temp apparently they draw is much lower) so you'd have to have an inverter (battery power to 240v converter) to handle this. The next consideration is battery capacity. 1000w at 12v is 83amps. Assuming you're cooking for half an hour that's ~42ah of battery capacity used.
