Gosport Model Yacht & Boat Club

Model Yachting has taken place at Gosport for over 100 years. We are now one of the largest and most active clubs in the UK.

We host District and National Championships and Race EIGHT different classes on a regular basis:- IOM, Radio A, RC Laser, Multihull, DragonForce 65, DragonFlite 95, Vane A and Vane 36.

Demo boats are available by prior booking for RCLasers (2), DF65 and Vane 36.

Welcome to Great Orme Model Yacht Club

Based at the West Shore Boating Lake, Llandudno.

We are a fun group aimed at meeting new friends interested in model yacht racing, model yachts and scale boats; and are affiliated to the Model Yacht Association (MYA), the UK governing body for the sport.

We primarily race DragonFlite 95's (DF95), but other classes will be included when sufficient numbers are present, and compete under the rules of the appropriate association conducting that particular aspect of model boating or specific club sailing instructions.

Eastleigh and District Model Boat Club

If you are interested in Model Boating, be it Scale models or Radio Control Sailing, we are one of the friendliest clubs in the South and welcome all skill levels from beginners to experienced builders, including supervised juniors.

​ Sail Division

An active radio yacht racing division sails at Eastleigh Lakeside Country Park on three mornings a weeks.  We race Dragon Force 65s (Wednesdays). International One Metres (Fridays) and Radio Marbleheads & Dragon Flight 95s (Sundays).

The club is affliated to the Model Yachting Association (MYA) and the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

W e are officially authorised by Eastleigh Borough Council to use one of the Lakeside lakes. The Council usually permits us to take cars to the water side, and to keep our race marks on the lake, throughout the year.  There are bathroom facilities in the Park, and a cafe at the nearby model railway.

Scale Division

We cater for all types of model ships and boats. Whether they are scratch built, kits, collectables, made from any materials, scale, semi or non scale. Powered by electric, steam or sail (but our facilities are not suitable for I.C. engine powered models).

Our exclusive boating lake within the grounds of Highbridge Farm has a clubhouse, jetty and free adjacent parking. We meet every Sunday and Wednesday at 10.00 – 12:00 am to sail, work to further improve our facilities, or to offer experienced modeling advice.

Social Events:- A full diary of events is organised throughout the year including visits to other clubs and attendance at shows/exhibitions both local and national together with social activities.

We sail at the Round Pond in Kensington Gardens, overlooked by Kensington Palace.   The club focuses on racing  Radio Controlled 10-Raters , International One Metres, DragonFlite95s  and Vintage Model Yachts .

Model Power Boat Association

The governing body for model boating in the UK

The MPBA is the governing body for model boating in the UK. Join the MPBA. Get model boat insurance. Most model boating disciplines have a dedicated website and links to each of these are shown on the relevant Section pages where you can find contact information relating to each boating type. It’s easy to join the MPBA – fees have been frozen for 2024 and we’d love to welcome you as a member via either an affiliated club or individually through the Countrywide Club.

The Model Power Boat Association was founded in 1924 and Incorporated in 1979 as a Limited Company . It is a non-profit making organisation with no share capital. The Association promotes all types of boat modelling activity including RC Boats, Free Running and Static Models, encouraging members to take part in the hobby at all levels and particularly to enter the many competitions which are held throughout the country and overseas.

Competition Rules

A particularly important area of this site deals with rules and regulations both statutory and those imposed by the Association, various files are available for download. It should be remembered that if there are any conflicts between section regulations and those of the Association, the Association regulations are aligned with recognised International bodies such as Naviga and iMBRA and adoption of contrary rules may result in ineligibility for national and international competitions.

Radio Sailing

The MYA sails to World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) with amendments for our sport outlined by Appendix E, these are typically updated every 4 years.

It is possible to download them from the World Sailing Rules webpage link below. There are also publications available which have case studies in them and typical applications of the rules, a copy of the rules and case studies are a useful addition to your sailing equipment. The RRS for 2021-24 will take effect on 1 January 2021
