1. Full Day Suluada Island Boat Trip

Nicknamed the Turkish Maldives, Suluada Island is a true paradise in the Mediterranean Ocean. The name ‘ Suluada ‘ translates to Watery Island in English, and it refers to the freshwater source that’s found on the island. However, it’s the beaches that bring people here.

The uninhabited island is surrounded by pristine, white sand beaches and crystal clear bays. There are plenty of snorkeling spots around the island where you can see lots of fish and marine life. You’ll sail past Love Cave and Love Beach, Cennet Bay, West Beach, and Fener Bay.

On this boat tour from Antalya, you start by driving to Adrasan, which takes around 1.5 hours. You will then board your boat, and sail around the stunning landscape as well as stop and swim or snorkel in the best spots.

Kekova was largely destroyed by an earthquake in the 2nd century but was rebuilt and used as a dockyard until it the Byzantine era. As soon as the Arabs invaded, it was abandoned.

• Bring snacks. Every boat trip we’ve taken has usually included lunch, but lunch can sometimes be later in the day at around 2 pm. We prefer to eat a bit earlier, so took some snacks to keep us going.
• Bring a towel . You always need a towel, even if you don’t plan on swimming. Trust me!
• Pack flip-flops . If you’re planning on visiting any beaches or islands, flip-flops are a must!
• Get a dry bag for your camera gear. We’ve made this mistake before and came home with a soaking wet camera. Luckily a bag of rice later and our camera was fine. But the bag of rice trick isn’t fail-safe so do get a dry bag if you can.
• Don’t forget your swimsuit! This might seem obvious but we’ve seen it happen!

Superb!!! The pirate boat was a major thing in our holidays. We had some much fun and our day was just perfect. They drive us to the port and then our day was full of entertainment. Antalya to Rhodes is the perfect late multi-destination car-free getaway

From the warming waters of the Turkish Riviera to a Greek island escape , these two summer favourites offer the perfect blend of sunshine and relaxation for a late summer break.   

Passing France as the second most visited European country (Spain is #1) for the first time ever, Turkey has never been more popular .

A long-time favourite for Brits, because of its affordable prices , great hotels, rich history and sandy beaches, it’s definitely having a moment right now.  

Cornelia Diamond Resort in Antalya is an ideal place to start your journey. With Antalya already famous for its resorts, Cornelia Diamond Resort is consistently rated one of the best; it’s a luxury take on the all-inclusive , boasting modern aesthetics, elevated cuisine and eye-watering facilities. 

First impressions here are white clean lines, plush interiors, and incredible views overlooking a sparkling sea. You really are surrounded by a lot of blue.

There is an enormous blue pool that meanders around the property, as well as several other spacious pools that lead down to a wide expanse of Mediterranean Sea.

After flying to Antalya

As a 5 star all inclusive, it’s a perfect destination if the only thing you want to think about is where you’ve left your sunscreen.  

Easy to get to, it’s beachside in Belek, (about 30 minutes from the Antalya Airport), and this place is over the top in the best way.

Set on its own 27-hole award-winning golf course, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, the spacious resort also has an amphitheater, 12 outdoor pools, several waterslides and that’s not even talking about the food. 

Fastidious about the quality and variety on offer, the hotel boasts a mind-blowing buffet, five à la carte restaurants, 24 hour room service, and several bars around the resort, including my favourite one on their pier that serves up cocktails with 360 degree views of the sea.  

Traveling with friends, we opted for a swim up suite – it was two large connecting  rooms with a foyer in between, so there was plenty of room for all. 

Day or night, we merely had to open our glass doors to emerge onto our own private deck with sun loungers, replete with a ladder that allowed access to our own private pool (shared only with the other swim up suite guests). As there is so much to do at the hotel, most days it was just us in there too.  

Perfect for golf and spa lovers, there are attractive short and long-stay golf packages, we saw plenty of swingers heading out for a day on the links.

For those who don’t golf, the hotel’s spa is a must see, with no less than 12 aromatherapy saunas and steam rooms.

Seeking respite from the afternoon sun, there is an enormous indoor pool that lies invitingly under an all-glass cathedral ceiling.

The nearby Zen-inspired spa offers a beautiful selection of treatments and we spent a fair amount of time in the large hammam, Jacuzzi and whirlpools.  

In the evening, this place comes alive, with a variety of live music and shows 7 nights a week. We saw everything from a fantastic Jennifer Lopez tribute show, to a Retro 90s night with dancers and costumes that would make Madonna proud.

Cuba night featured traditional dancers in costumes and out of this world Mojitos. The standard of entertainment here is really high. There are accomplished DJs, celebrated local singers and late into the night raves.

The lights come on in a variety of fountains and pools around the hotel and after dark, it’s really something amazing to behold. And because of the sheer size of the place, if you have decided to get an early night sleep, you won’t be disturbed.  

Bussing it to Fethiye

From Antalya – we headed to Fethiye – this is around 2.5 hours away. You can rent a car of course, but we opted for one of the air conditioned and comfortable buses that make the trip several times a day for the incredible price of around £10.

You can book online or just head to the Antalya bus station (there is only one station) buy a ticket, and wait for the next one.   

Fethiye is a a beautiful port city on its own and well worth an overnight. We stayed at the Yacht Classic Hotel which is a stunning boutique hotel with beautiful, modern aesthetics and jaw-dropping views of boats in the harbor. 

Like Corneila Diamond, this hotel is open all year. We stayed in a ‘water villa’ which was spacious and had it’s own private swim up pool. After enjoying room service cocktails on our private deck, we walked down to try the hotel’s on site bar and restaurant.

The vibe here is really very chic and charming. Lots of barefoot luxury going on here. Harborside, we enjoyed a beautiful meal of seafood and pasta (over a soothing soundtrack of soft jazz) at the hotel’s Mori Bistro.  

Ferrying to Rhodes

The next morning we took the 8:15 am ferry to Rhodes – you’ll need to get up early for this because there is only one per day.

The hotel is walking distance to the ferry, not more than10 minutes total. Make sure to get there an hour early, because there is a line for passport control and check in.

In addition to the £65 tickets, there is a ‘harbor charge’ of around £15 you pay when you board. The air conditioned, comfortable ferry boats are usually full, so you want to ensure you get a seat for the 1.5 hour voyage.   

Once you disembark in Rhodes, give yourself an hour or so to explore the old town. It was hot and our wheely suitcases were a drag on the cobblestones, so one hour was enough for us, before we jumped into a taxi to get over to Lindos.

Our destination was the Lindos Grand Hotel – an adults only beautiful resort above the idyllic Vlycha beach on the eastern coast of Rhodes. The hotel is a collection of modern looking white buildings, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and large, airy spaces.

The private rooms are spread out across a serene, green hillside and stacked up like cinema seats, so most offer an unobstructed view of the nearby Aegean. 

The hotel is a comfortable size, at just under 190 rooms, and more than half have an L-shaped private swim-up infinity pool; perfect for taking a dip in the heat of the day from the comfort of your air conditioned bedroom.  

Taking eco-chic next level, Lindos Grand uses locally sourced materials, energy-saving glass panels and has a reverse osmosis system which filters seawater for a variety of uses. 

The enormous (and I mean, really enormous) infinity pool is the centrepiece here, with views to die for. 

It’s surrounded by a bevy of stylish day beds (no need to reserve one pre-breakfast, there are plenty of them), swaying palm trees and submerged seating.

For those who want a bit more activity, there are daily sessions of yoga, aqua aerobics and aqua Pilates, tennis courts, a gym and bike hire as well as a host of watersports on offer down in the bay.  

The hotel has its own app, which is a very handy digital concierge service that allows you to book restaurant reservations, spa treatments and excursions at the touch of a button.

We loved the the hotel’s Evridiki Spa by Apivita, which is beautifully designed and specializes in vegan-friendly products.

They offer a wide range of massages, facials and full body rituals which combine modern techniques with ancient Greek remedies, using natural, botanical ingredients indigenous to Rhodes.

Wellness seekers will love treatments such as the Mediterranean skin food facial, a jasmine and sea salt exfoliation, an ancient Greek massage, or a rose pepper anti-cellulite treatment.  

The dining here is, without exaggeration, fantastic. Working with the freshest island ingredients, Lindos Grand has a main breakfast buffet (which has surprisingly large range of foods on offer) but also several à la carte restaurants: Acqua e Sale, an all-day Mediterranean restaurant, Takara for Pan Asian flavors and Yume Mou, for a genuine Japanese, omakase sushi experience.

The fine dining restaurant Thalatta is fantastic. It’s up on top of the hotel’s roof and serves up authentic Greek delicacies with a modern twist, alongside panoramic sea views.

The brains behind the food here is executive chef Stavros Manousakis, revered as one of Greece’s best sushi chefs, with a career spanning over two decades cooking at some of the world’s most renowned hotels. 

As the sun sets, you may want to head to the Blanc de Blancs Lounge for delicious cocktails from expert mixologists or experience the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere at their Atmos Sky Lounge.

We opted to sit poolside listening to live music each night – it was a wonderful, relaxed and sophisticated vibe. 

Before you depart, there’s one must do – pay a visit to the nearby historic Acropolis, a natural citadel that overlooks the city and was fortified from the 6th century BC onwards.

If you can handle the climb (or you can cheat and go up on a donkey) there are ancient temple ruins, elegant columns and views back to Turkey.

Below are sweeping views of classic, whitewashed, flat-roofed houses, all built centuries ago. 

We retraced our steps and flew home from Antalya, but you could also fly directly back to London from Rhodes.
