Manta Landsailers

The single-seat WinJammer landsailer and the two-place TwinJammer landsailer are the land yachts that revolutionized landsailing. These wind powered vehicles use the materials and design concepts of ultra-light gliders, Manta has created landsailers so light, yet so rugged and potent. They give high performance landsailing on any hard, flat surface - your local parking lot, beach, dry lake bed , or field. Using the natural free energy of the wind, you can accelerate quickly to over twice the speed of the wind! The current landsailing speed record is 126.1 mph , set March 27th 2009 on the Ivanpah dry lake bed 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas.

Ladsailing with a Manta

The Manta can be set up for landsailing action in 5 minutes. The ultra-lightness is revolutionary because it permits exciting operation even in small areas. The WinJammer weighs just 70 lbs, with a fully battened sail of 45 sq/ft and a turning radius under 6 feet. The TwinJammer weighs 105 lbs, carries 59 sq/ft of sail and has a turning radius of 8.5 feet. The incredible acceleration and maneuverability let them make the most of any site.

For more information on the sport of landsailing please visit the North American Land Sailing Association and check out the article on landsailing and kite buggies in the Las Vegas View . For more pictures please visit our Landsailing Picture Gallery . Need TwinJammer parts or WinJammer parts for your Manta Landsailer? We can get them for you.

Manta landsailers come complete. The only upgrades are a reinforced rear axle, a hex ratchet block and bracket. These upgrades are strongly recommended.

The biggest and most flamboyant American cars

We reveal the 21 longest american cars from the ‘land yacht’ era of the 1960s through to the early 1980s.

Tom Roberts

  • 25 muscle cars that aren’t American
  • State of independence: American cars that broke the mould

1963 Dodge Custom 880 – 214.8 inches / 5.45 metres

Our first port of call is Dodge’s short-lived Custom 880. Although still a large vehicle by modern standards, the era of the land yachts was one where size really did matter. Under pressure to compete with Chevrolet, Dodge rushed out its own version of the Chrysler Newport. A 361-cubic inch (5.9-litre) V8 engine with 265hp was standard, with a 383ci (6.3-litre) 305hp V8 optional. It wasn’t enough, and the 880 was dead in the water by 1965.

1975 Dodge Charger SE – 216 inches / 5.48 metres

Most people immediately think ‘muscle car’ when the name Charger is mentioned. But by 1975, an icon of the horsepower wars was little more than a jaded luxury coupe. It may have had sumptuous 24-ounce shagpile carpeting inside, but the square exterior styling made it a nightmare for the NASCAR teams forced to use it on-track. Dodge only managed to sell 31,000 examples in 1975.

1970 Ford LTD – 216.1 inches / 5.49 metres

Between 1969 and 1978, Ford sold 7.75 million examples of the second-generation LTD and its Mercury sisters. It was also the biggest car offered by the Blue Oval during its lifetime. Styling for the 1970 model year included a grille inspired by the Thunderbird, combined with funky hidden headlights. Engine choices ranged from a big 302-cubic inch (4.9-litre) V8, through to a really big 429ci (7.0) V8.

1971 Buick Riviera – 217.4 inches / 5.52 metres

Big and bold was the look for the third-generation Buick Riviera, launched in 1971. A giant ‘boat tail’ rear end seems apt for a land yacht, but the radical styling proved unsuccessful with buyers. A ‘Full-Flo’ ventilation system, with a habit of sucking exhaust fumes and rain water into the cabin, probably didn’t endear the Rivera to customers either. More impressive was the standard-fit ‘MaxTrac’ traction control for the 455-cubic inch (7.5-litre) V8 engine.

1969 Dodge Polara – 220.8 inches / 5.61 metres

Now we’re getting into the realm of serious yachting as we sail across the 220-inch longitude. Adopting Dodge’s ‘fuselage’ styling concept, the 1969 Polara was available in five different body styles. Engine choices were all V8s, ranging from a modest 230hp 381-cubic inch (6.2-litre) to the thumping 440-ci (6.5-litre) Magnum with 375hp and 480lb ft of torque. The sales brochure boasted of hidden windshield wipers, and carpets so plush you’d want to take your shoes off to drive.

1959 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Wagon – 220.9 inches / 5.61 metres

It might be from an earlier decade than the others on our list, and it also happens to be an estate. But the ’59 Town & Country is still very much a land yacht. Standard-fit was the ‘Golden Lion’ 413-cubic inch (6.77-litre) V8 engine, with 350hp and a push-button three-speed automatic transmission. Optional extras included the ‘Mirrormatic’ electrically dimming rear-view mirror. Strange to think you often need to pay extra for an automatic dimming mirror on a new car almost six decades later.

1980 Plymouth Gran Fury – 221.5 inches / 5.62 metres

For a significant period of its life, the Plymouth Gran Fury existed to satisfy the demands of the fleet market, and this lifeline kept it alive. It may have been downsized for 1980, but this is still a huge vehicle. Police chiefs loved them, with a special package offered to boost the 360-cubic inch (5.9-litre) V8 engine to a ‘massive’ 195hp. By 1980, the land yacht era had capsized, and Plymouth ditched the Gran Fury part-way through 1981.

1973 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe – 221.9 inches / 5.64 metres

Chevrolet’s marketing pitch for 1973 sounded more like a political campaign speech, rather than a way to sell cars. It was about ‘building a better way to see America’ and what could be better than seeing it from the vinyl and woodgrain interior of your Impala? Powering you across the country was a standard 145hp ‘Turbo Fire’ 350-cubic inch (5.7-litre) V8. But, if you really wanted to make progress, you could pick the optional 455-ci (7.5-litre) ‘Turbo Jet’ V8 with 245hp. That might have required several more stops for gas, though.

1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible – 224.1 inches / 5.69 metres

This is decadence! In 1976 Cadillac was very keen to stress that the Eldorado was the last American convertible. Features such as automatic climate control and plush six-way adjustable leather seats pushed the Eldorado’s weight to 5,153lb (2,337kg). Thankfully, propulsion came from an extravagant 500-cubic inch (8.2-litre) V8, even if all that displacement could only generate 235hp. Owners might have been even more grateful for the standard ventilated disc brakes.

1976 Ford Thunderbird – 225.7 inches / 5.73 metres

Can you imagine how long polishing all the chrome on the Thunderbird’s front bumper would take? And that’s before you even get to the grille, the headlight surrounds, wing mirrors, and finally, the rear bumper. All that shine meant the Thunderbird weighed in at over 5,000lb (2,268kg). Power came courtesy of a 460-cubic inch (7.7-litre) V8, connected to a ‘Cruise-O-Matic’ transmission. An eight-track tape player was a $382 option, whilst the distinctive ‘Lipstick’ colour scheme added $546 to the $7,790 list price.

1977 Dodge Royal Monaco – 225.7 inches / 5.73 metres

If you were the kind of person who liked traditional value, combined with an added touch of luxury, then the Royal Monaco was for you. Slide around on the standard vinyl-upholstered seats, revel at the choice of two ashtrays in both the front and rear passenger compartments, and impress people with your hidden headlights. If you’re really feeling flush, perhaps you might go for the option of a locking gas cap, or the unmitigated luxury of an electric digital clock.

1978 Ford Country Squire – 225.7 inches / 5.73 metres

Nothing says ‘premium’ like slapping simulated woodgrain to the side of a station wagon. From 1951 to 1991, Ford’s full-size estate featured imitation timber trim. The 1978 Country Squire would be a final flourish for outlandish size, as the following year saw a smaller seventh-generation car. But in 1978, tipping the scales at some 4,881lb (2,214kg) meant even the largest engine option of the 460-cubic inch (7.5-litre) V8 could only push the Squire to a maximum speed of 111mph. Still, at least you wouldn’t have to worry about varnishing that wood.

1970 Buick Electra 225 – 225.8 inches / 5.74 metres

It becomes evident how important size was in the land yacht era, when manufacturers were willing to incorporate length into a model name. Between 1959 and 1969, the length of the Electra had fluctuated, but for 1970 it returned to that eponymous measurement. Also new for 1970 was a 455-cubic inch (7.5-litre) V8 with an impressive 370hp and 510lb ft. It may have been vast, but the Electra 225 was certainly no slouch, making it one of the raciest yachts on our list.

1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV – 228.1 inches / 5.79 metres

Aside from the Ford Thunderbird, the Lincoln Continental range of the 1970s is perhaps the best example of the personal luxury coupe genre. For those customers wanting to go completely overboard, Lincoln offered a range of designer special editions. Created by Bill Blass, Gucci, Givenchy, and Cartier, each car came with a bespoke colour scheme, plus a gold-plated plaque on the dashboard. The latter could even be engraved with the owner’s name, just in case you forgot who you were.

1970 Imperial Crown – 229.7 inches / 5.83 metres

Chrysler had used the Imperial name since the 1920s, but between 1955 and 1975 it created a standalone marque to rival Cadillac and Lincoln. Life was tough for the third-generation range of Imperials, as being based on Chrysler platforms and bodyshells placed them at a disadvantage versus other luxury brands. Instead, the Imperial had to compete on features like a standard 440-cubic inch (7.2-litre) V8 engine with 350hp, or bench seating described as being like a sumptuous sofa – finished in cloth and vinyl.

1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville – 230.7 inches / 5.86 metres

Across the 230-inch threshold we sail, and into what we can probably title as the ‘super yacht’ category. These next six cars are truly vast, and the de Ville is a perfect expression of the self-indulgence available. Interiors were offered in both leather or patterned velour, while the exterior featured a huge vinyl roof and cornering lights to help steer your ship. Airbags for the driver and passenger were an option, as was traction control and, of course, whitewall striped tyres.

1978 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham – 231 inches / 5.88 metres

By the late 1970s, land yachts like the New Yorker were bigger than disco music. But 1978 would be the final year of the Chrysler ‘C-body’ platform that saw service in many of the full-size machines on our list. A 400-cubic inch (6.6-litre) V8 came as standard, unless you happened to live in California or high-altitude states ,where the smaller and cleaner 360-ci (5.9-litre) V8 was mandatory. On the options list was a AM/FM stereo with a search function operated by a foot switch, and even a CB radio.

1974 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight LS – 232.4 inches / 5.90 metres

Another giant of the Chrysler ‘C-body’ era was the Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight. Before the marque was made to walk the plank in 2004, Oldsmobile was the oldest surviving American car brand. The glory days came in the 1970s, and with cars like the colossal 1974 Ninety-Eight it’s not hard to see why. Plus, any car with a 455-cubic inch (7.5-litre) V8 engine named ‘Rocket’ gains serious credibility. The record length for ’74 models came from the need to incorporate federally mandated 5mph bumpers into the already vast design.

1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V – 233 inches / 5.92 metres

If you thought the Mark IV Continental was whale-sized, then we’re going to need a bigger boat for the Mark V. With almost a further five inches in length, the Mark V was even more opulent and ostentatious. A vinyl roof was standard for 1979, as were the round ‘opera’ windows, and a Cartier-logoed clock. For true glitz, buyers could opt for The Collector Series, which was promoted by Tom Selleck. Gold-toned grille inserts, a crystal-like hood ornament, and acres of padded vinyl proved you were ready to celebrate the final year before downsizing would claim another victim.

1975 Buick Electra 225 – 233.7 inches / 5.96 metres

Having strayed a long way from the original 225 inches, by 1975 the Electra was now one of the biggest monsters roaming the turnpike. According to Buick, the 225 was for those who wanted to drive a luxury car without being pretentious. Although the promotional photo, taken outside a sprawling mansion, somewhat begs to differ, while interior options included plush patterned velour upholstery. Sadly, the steadfast 455-ci (7.5-litre) engine was now smothered by emissions and fuel-saving changes, producing just 205hp.

1973 Imperial LeBaron – 235.3 inches / 5.98 metres

This is it, the end of our epic voyage. It means we’ve come to the biggest land yacht, and one of the longest post-war American production cars, period. Federally mandated bumpers were responsible for making the LeBaron even lengthier in 1973, adding an extra 5.8-inches to its already imposing dimensions. After 1973, the Imperial brand would slip away, finally being cast adrift for good in 1975. Oil embargos and emissions regulations would be the factors that sunk the Imperial, and would do the same for the rest of the land yacht fleet by the early 1980s.

This truck could dethrone the toyota tacoma as america's favorite, 10 of the most expensive cars unearthed in the world's biggest barn find.

Full-size luxury cars have always held a special place in enthusiasts' hearts, from the Lincoln Continental to the Rolls Royce Phantom, and a number of other  classic cars , These popularly-called land yachts are historical gems of the automotive industry.

RELATED:  Ranking The Greatest Classic American Personal Luxury Cars On The Used Market

Many of these vehicles come at excessive prices, however. Luckily, some models have deprecated, so for example, you can now easily find some of the most luxurious and most  beautiful Cadillacs at an affordable price . While new models such as the latest iteration of the Rolls Royce Phantom will cost the same as an entire car collection , here are 10 timeless classics that are just as comfortable and luxurious but complete bargains.

10 1982 Bentley Mulsanne ($9,900)

The Americans may be kings of the long, luxurious vehicles, but the Europeans also have a few models to boast about. Especially German models, such as the Bentley Mulsanne.

The model was introduced in 1980 as a performance luxury car, but the price has remained rather affordable despite all the luxury included. The name Mulsanne is vastly inscribed into the Bentley motorsports history, with the five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But luxury and heritage isn't all the Bentley Mulsanne offers as there's also quite a lot of performance coming from its 6.75-liter V8 engine that produces a massive 260 hp.

9 1969 Pontiac Bonneville ($6,000)

The first Pontiac Bonneville rolled off the production line in 1958 and in the next 30 years stood as the top-notch luxury model of the Pontiac brand. The fourth generation of the Pontiac Bonneville was introduced in 1965 and is now one of the most affordable Bonnevilles on the used market.

Style, luxury, and overall enjoyment remained, adding to it the slanted dashboard and wooden interior. The exterior also saw some major adjustments, such as the removal of side creases and widening of the taillights. This classic beauty comes with the powerful 7.0-liter V8 engine rated at 360 hp.

8 1969 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special ($15,400)

The Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special stands as one of Cadillac's most luxurious vehicles ever. The full-size luxury car introduces some styling changes for the 1969 model year, such as the headrests on front seats. The extended wheelbase offered a lot more room, while the exterior changes included dual headlights and no more vent wings on the front doors.

With the 7.7-liter V8 powerplant rated at 375 hp, this black beauty is a special gem in history and one of the most popular Cadillac classics ever built, so it's surprising that pristine-condition models go for such low prices.

7 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Coupé Convertible ($14,700)

Once the flagship model of the Oldsmobile brand, the Oldsmobile 98 and the first vehicle under the 98 name was produced in 1941. Rendered as the top line model, the Oldsmobile 98 featured advanced technologies right from the start, and the 1959 model is no exception.

Powered by the 6.5-liter Rocket V8 engine that produces 315 hp, the 2-door coupe convertible is the right choice for a daily driver and with the luxury and reliability this land-yachts offer, every classic car lover is in for a treat.

6 1972 Buick Riviera ($17,900)

Not many classics can compete with the style, beauty, and drivability of the 1972 Buick Riviera. It's among several iconic classic land yachts of its era but stands out for its sheer design excellence.

The boat-tail is there to make you fall in love with the entire car, while the luxurious interior and powerful engine are there to make your driving experience feel out of this world. The powerplant is a 7.5-liter V8 down-tuned to 255 hp due to EPA emissions requirements. Some of the advanced features for this model year include power-boosted disc brakes, a power steering system, and even remote-controlled mirrors, all helping to better up the driving experience.

5 1961 Lincoln Continental ($18,800)

Often rendered as the greatest mafia car of all time, the Lincoln Continental breeds luxury throughout ten generations. The first-ever Lincoln Continental rolled off the production line in 1940, but the model is still in production, with the latest version of the Lincoln Continental rolling out last year featuring suicide doors .

The 1961 Lincoln Continental was ahead of its time with its design, style, and luxury, which include the “suicide” rear-hinged rear doors, among other perks. It was powered by the 7.0-liter V8 engine, churning out an impressive 300 hp, making it a perfect classic cruiser.

4 1956 DeSoto Fireflite ($18,100)

DeSoto was in existence from 1928 until 1961 under the Chrysler brand and had a few models that turned heads in its 33 years of operating. One of these models is the top-of-the-line DeSoto Fireflite, which was in production from 1955 and 1960.

It is best remembered for the long, tapering tail fins, which are the first thing anyone will notice on this beauty as they come in a two-toned exterior finish. The DeSoto Fireflite was powered by a 5.4-liter V8 engine that developed 255 hp, able to launch the Fireflite to a top speed of 110 mph.

3 1959 Buick Electra 225 ($9,600)

The Buick Electra 225 was first introduced in 1959 as a renamed Buick Roadmaster and was in production all the way until 1990. Offered as the top-notch Buick Electra 225 was the most luxurious model of the Buick line, and the unique rear delta fins will make you fall in love with the car. Don't let the two doors fool you, as the "225" in the model's name represents the length of the car in inches.

The powerplant of this beauty was the standard 6.6-liter V8 rated at 325 hp and mated to 2-speed Dynaflow automatic. With power steering and power brakes, the Buick Electra 225 is one of the classic cruisers to own.

2 1966 Imperial LeBaron ($11,100)

The first automobile under the Imperial nameplate appeared in 1926 as Chrysler's luxury model. However, in 1955, the Imperial became a separate company and operated until 1983. Nevertheless, the Imperial has birthed a number of luxurious models, including the Imperial LeBaron.

The Imperial LeBaron rolled off the production line with the 7.2-liter V8 engine, generating 350 hp, and among America's finest cars of the era thanks to the contemporary look and the luxurious interior, glowing with leather and wood.

1 1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spur ($16,500)

Nowadays, it is hard to find an affordable Rolls Royce, but some models, such as the 1984 Silver Spur can be bought at a rather cheap price. With its long wheelbase, a beautiful rounded design  (the work of Austrian stylist Fritz Feller), and a luxurious interior, it represents one of the most marvelous models of this British car manufacturer.

It's powered by a 6.75-liter V8 engine rated at 220 hp and paired with 3-speed GM THM400 automatic. But despite the large V8 and a gorgeous interior, the prices of these models frequently gravitate around $15,000.

Top Gear’s Top 9: amphibious cars

Is it a car? Is it a boat? Well, both, actually

Gibbs Aquada

Prodrive Watercar

Prodrive Watercar

Meet the fastest amphibious car in the world, according to its American makers. With its 3.7-litre V6 engine it can reach 43mph out at sea, and should you have a pair of water skis handy, it’ll also tow someone along nay problem. Training not included, mind.

And that’s not all, because you can also use it for your weekly supermarket run, too. See, Prodrive imported this particular example from California-based company Watercar, and set to work making it compliant to UK road regs – and capable of speeds of up to 80mph. Not, of course, if you’ve read our own Captain Kew’s recent review, that you’ll ever want to.

It’s currently available for £165,000, but those interested will need to be quick – because Watercar has recently gone under (they’re all at sea, some might say…), Prodrive can’t get their hands on any more, making this a very unique one-off, er, vessel.

Rinspeed sQuba

Rinspeed sQuba

This is anything but your standard Lotus Elise. Inspired by Bond’s Lotus Esprit road-going submarine from 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me , Rinspeed founder and CEO Frank M. Rinderknecht decided he wanted to have a go too.

Much like 007’s, it was designed to be more submarine than boat. Powered by twin electric-powered propellers, it can be submerged to a depth of 10 metres, with passengers, y’know, staying alive thanks to scuba-style breathing equipment. No sign of wetsuits in the promo pics though, meaning we’d recommend a change of clothes.

However, with a top speed of just 2mph underwater, getting away from those pesky villains might have proven troublesome. No such problems on road, however, with the sQuba maxing out at 75mph.

Project sea lion.

Project Sea Lion

Not to be confused with Operation Sea Lion (Google it, kids), Project Sea Lion was a six-year project designed to compete for the title of the world’s fastest amphibious car on land and water. It didn’t quite make the record books, but kudos for trying.

Constructed from TIG-welded aluminium and equipped with a Mazda 13B rotary engine, inventor Marc Witt claimed that it could potentially reach 180mph on land and 60mph in water, in the right hands and with an upgraded engine. That coincidentally also makes it considerably faster than its namesake (25mph, according to our resident zoologist).

Not that Marc was prepared see it through to the end – it was last seen back in 2012 when he listed it for sale for just over $250k, and a promise to assist the buyer on any future modifications “to venture further into the record books”.

Amphicar

Launched at the 1961 New York Motor Show, 3,878 Amphicars were sold until production ceased in 1968, making this the only mass-produced amphibious vehicle available to the buying public. And you thought they weren’t mainstream, huh?

Power came courtesy of a rear-mounted 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, as found in the Triumph Herald 1200, outputting, erm, 38bhp. Power was either sent to the rear wheels on terra firma, or twin propellors, mounted beneath the rear bumper, when riding the waves. Steering was via the front wheels, which acted as rudders.

It proved its boating prowess back in 1965 when not one but two Amphicars crossed the English Channel. Former US President Lyndon Johnson also reportedly enjoyed frightening guests by driving onto his lake while proclaiming that his brakes had failed. Joker.

Gibbs Aquada

Gibbs Aquada

Back in 2004, the Gibbs Aquada, piloted by Richard Branson, set the record for the fastest English Channel crossing by an amphibious vehicle with an official time of one hour, 40 minutes and six seconds.

And while it may look like a Mazda MX-5 / monster truck crossover, in reality it shares nothing with the sportscar other than its headlights.

There’s a McLaren F1-style three-seat layout, with driver sat centrally and passengers located either site. Power, meanwhile, comes from a 2.5-litre Rover V6 engine, with the Aquada capable of over 100mph on land and over 30mph on water.

Dutton Surf

Dutton Surf

It’s no secret that we love the Suzuki Jimny, so much so that we shed a tear last year when it was booted out of Great Britain due to emissions regulations. So a land and sea-faring Jimny leaves us asking one question… where do we sign?

It all comes courtesy of former kit car manufacturer Dutton. The premise is simple: you either buy the conversion kit and do the work yourself, or supply a donor Jimny and they’ll do it for you. Said work consists of swapping the mechanical parts from the Jimny into the new stainless steel/plastic body, complete with water jet-propulsion system.

Dutton claims the Surf is good for a top speed of 6mph on water, no matter how much you floor the accelerator. Won’t be breaking any speed records, that’s for sure, but at least you shouldn’t disturb the local wildlife too much, right?

Rinspeed Splash

Rinspeed Splash

An amphibious car, but not as you know it. See, the Rinspeed Splash is actually a hydrofoil, meaning it can ‘fly’ about 60cm above the water. And if you’ve ever seen the America’s Cup, you’ll also know how cool (and physics-defying) these things are.

How does it work? Well, at low depths/speeds, the Splash operates much like any other amphibious vehicle thanks to its propellor. Once you’ve reached a depth of 1.3 meters, however, you can deploy fins at the side and rear. Give it the beans and physics takes over, with the fins forcing the Splash upwards so it glides through the water at up to 50mph.

Powered by a 750cc twin-cylinder snowmobile engine putting out 139bhp and 111lb ft of torque, the Splash is equally adept on the road. A weight of just 825kg contributes to a zero to 62mph time of under six seconds on to a top speed of 124mph. Rad.

Hobbycar B612

Hobbycar B612

This isn’t like any hobbycar we’ve ever seen before. Introduced to the world at the 1992 Paris Motor Show, the B612 was a mid-engined four-seater available as a hard-top, soft-top, or pick-up. The 1.9-litre four-cylinder powered both the four-wheel drive system on the road, or two hydro jets on water, controlled by a joystick.

But watersports aren’t a hobby for everyone, y’know. Just ask Lane Motor Museum in Tennessee, resident to one of 52 Hobbycars ever built. Back in 2018, demonstrating the, er, capabilities of the Hobbycar, it lost its sea legs and sank to the bottom of the lake. Oops.

Fortunately, no one was hurt during the accident, with another of the museum’s amphibious vehicles, a 1964 Amphicar as detailed above, deployed on a rescue mission. The Hobbycar too was rescued a couple of days later, though if it can’t handle a lake we can’t imagine it’ll be sent out to conquer the high seas any time soon.

DUKW

We couldn’t do a list of Top 9 amphibious vehicles and not include this, arguably the unsung hero of World War Two. Pronounced Duck, like the one that goes quack, the six-wheel-drive amphibious vehicle, used by the U.S. military and Allied forces, enabled the transportation of cargo from larger ships based out at sea to where they were needed ashore.

A modified version of the GMC 2.5-tonne truck, and lorry-like in size, they could carry more than 25 soldiers or two tonnes of equipment in one trip. Over 20,000 saw service during WW2.

These days, the few remaining DUKWs (D for designed in 1942; U referring to the utility body style; K for all-wheel drive; and W for dual rear axles, FYI) can be found ferrying tourists around the likes of London, Dublin and Boston. So if anyone asks if you want to go on a Duck tour, know it’s not to feed the residents down the local park.

The original fun, fast, compact land sailor taking the world by storm! Whether for fun with the whole family, the adrenalin rush when sailing in strong wind or the action of competition, Blokart offers it all - a one stop shop and one of the most interactive adrenalin sports on the planet! blokart has developed into a culture with an international community of like minded enthusiasts who travel the globe with their kart chasing the wind and camaraderie. Blokart ... serious fun!

Order yours today!

We have Blokarts in stock!   Order yours today, it ships regular UPS or FedEx ground.   You could be experiencing the thrills of sailing in days!

How To Order :

One package has it all.

Every Blokart comes in an awesome ready to sail compact package, allowing you to disassemble the boat into a very easy to haul rugged padded carrying case.   This makes Blokart the easiest land yacht to transport to your favorite riding spot.   Your Blokart sets up in less than 5 minutes without the need of any tools!   Carrying case is included and even converts from a carrying case to a handy rolling pack by using the wheels of the Blokart.   The pack is so small that it will fit into the trunk of most vehicles or in the back seat.   You no longer need a big truck or tow a trailer to go sailing!

The Pro model is 100% polished stainless steel, perfect for those humid / wet riding areas like sandy beaches.   Stainless steel is corrosion and rust resistant.   The polished stainless steel is also sleek and shiny.

Ride with your friend.

Every Blokart can be equipped with the optional "Shadow" ride along side seat.   This seat fits onto your existing Blokart in minutes and allows you to ride with your spouse, kids, or friends! The Shadow kit is a great option for families and groups and is also the perfect way to teach others how to sail. Shadow kits are a great optional accessory and come with their own carry bag, ready to install.

Mast Options:

The Fiberglass Mast is the standard and most common mast used.   It is made from laminated high strength Fiberglass.   Perfect for beginner sailors and for gusty conditions. The Combo Mast gives your Blokart added performance by stiffening up the sail.   This is done by replacing some of the fiberglass sections with light weight Carbon Fiber sections.   The combination of Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber allows for higher performance while providing smoother sailing in gusty conditions. The Carbon Mast is the ultimate performance upgrade.   This mast uses sections of Blokart's exclusive Ultra Carbon along with sections of their high strength light weight carbon fiber for the strongest and lightest mast available.   If speed is your goal, the Carbon Mast is a must have! Download the Blokart Wind Chart and Sail Size to help choose the correct sail for your riding area (click below) Sail & Wind Chart (.pdf)

Shipping Charges

Because of the multiple boxes and size of these items, Land Sailors are not eligle for our free shipping promotion. The shipping charges already included with your order are estimated shipping charges (pre-selected option above). We will calculate the exact shipping charges for your order and contact you once the order is ready to be shipped. If there is any difference in the estimated shipping amount, we will contact you and usually issue you a credit for the difference. In the unusual event that shipping charges are more than the estimated amount, we will contact you regarding the difference.
