The assignment to designers at Studio Porsche Design was simple: Create a spaceship for the water. And make it go fast. The result was Royal Falcon One , this futuristic, mind-warping 135-foot, all-aluminum power catamaran with a super-luxury Star Trek interior and a searing 43-mph top speed. Commissioned by a Swedish tech entrepreneur, the twin-hulled superyacht was built at Sweden’s famed Kockums shipyard, best-known for its stealthy navy submarines and sleek corvette warships.

Taking 10 long years to construct—the yacht was finally delivered in 2019—its maiden voyage was a 4,000-mile wild ride from the Baltic to the Mediterranean that included long spells battling 15-foot-high frothy North Sea rollers.

“She really proved herself on that maiden voyage. Especially when we had to outrun a big storm while crossing the Bay of Biscay. That’s when 10,000 horsepower makes the difference,” Roger Leitner, Royal Falcon One ‘s project manager and executive vice president of Royal Falcon Fleet, told Robb Report .

The owner’s interest in power catamarans came during a visit to Australia and a ride on a high-speed cat designed by Sydney-based naval architects and fast-cat specialists Incat Crowther. “He really liked the stability you get from two hulls, and the tremendous interior space. Wanting his next boat to be something very different than a traditional monohull superyacht, he asked Studio F.A. Porsche to come up with a groundbreaking design,” explains Leitner.

Those slender, twin hulls are joined by an almost egg-like superstructure with a wave-piercing lower section and acres of curved, super-strong glass.

“The owner had a vision to create something that demonstrated the power of a sports car—a Porsche—with a touch of spaceship for the sea,’” says Leitner. “A yacht that would really make a statement and break the mold of what a superyacht should look like.” It would be the first superyacht design from the Austrian Studio F.A. Porsche, the independent design arm of the famous car maker.

Royal Falcon One’s twin hull design brings added stability. 

Being a “Porsche” it needed to go fast. Which is why twin German-made MTU 16V 4000 diesels, each packing 4,615-horsepower, were specified, along with Swedish-made Marine Jet Power (MJP) waterjets instead of conventional props.

“The performance is hugely impressive,” says Martin Ven Den Berg, Royal Falcon One’s captain since 2019. “Yet it all feels surprisingly undramatic; when you push forward the throttles she just surges ahead like a jet on take off. Her 37-knot top speed is fast, but it feels really fast when you are overtaking other boats.”

At her 17-mph cruising speed the yacht can go over 1,200 nautical miles on a tank; or around 2,250 miles when it is throttled back to 11 mph.

Step aboard and the yacht’s huge 41-foot beam helps create large interior volumes. From the expansive aft deck with its full-width, curved-glass doors, you enter a vast entertaining area. The central dining table has places for 10, and there is also seating on the hip bar, or on the mile-long leather sofa. From here a long, glass-walled corridor-illuminated to give the feeling of being beamed-up by Scotty on a Star Trek transporter—leads into the so-called Panoramic Lounge. Designed for entertaining, the lounge is all wraparound sofas, deep windows and an elegant cocktail bar.

Steps lead to the upper deck and one of the yacht’s showcase features, the owner’s suite. As well as copious amounts of space, there’s a Porsche Design circular bathroom with its brushed-metal finishes and 50 Shades of Gray color scheme. Perhaps the piece de resistance here is the secluded owner’s terrace off the master bedroom. It features an intimate, circular dining table, positioned below a large skylight, for star-gazing during fine dining.

The yacht has five ensuite cabins for 10 guests, and accommodation in those spacious twin hulls for a crew of up to 10.

Part of the original plan for Royal Falcon One was for it to be part of a super-exclusive, invitation-only club, called Royal Falcon Club, where members would get timeshare-style use of the yacht. Club membership would also include use of a castle in Parma, Italy, a sporting ranch in North Carolina, and a vineyard in Tuscany.

“Unfortunately, we finalized plans for the club in February 2020, just as the pandemic started to lock things down. Everything was put on hold,” says Leitner.

As the name Royal Falcon One suggests, the intention was to build a fleet of power catamarans to be operated by the club.

A second, identical Royal Falcon yacht was built alongside the original, though only the aluminum hull and superstructure were completed. It’s currently in a yard in Vietnam where the owner’s company is based.

The reason this largely unused Royal Falcon One is being sold—currently listed with Denison Yachting for $31.2 million—is that the owner’s focus has changed and his efforts are now going into expanding his financial technology business ventures. “She’s the perfect yacht for someone who likes to do things differently, a yacht that stands out everywhere she goes,” says Leitner.

135 Royal Falcon Yacht Walkthrough [Boat Review + Video]

Today, we’re coming to you to Cala Del Forte, Marina in Ventimiglia just outside of Monaco to show you what I would consider a remarkable achievement, the 2019, 41 Meter or 135-foot Porsche designed Power Catamaran, ROYAL FALCON ONE .

We’re going to begin our walkthrough today onboard ROYAL FALCON ONE , here on the aft deck. You can really notice the beam of the power catamaran right now and some of the innovative designs are the passerelle that hides into the hull as well as the tender garage.

Your main access to the yacht is going to be both on the port and starboard side hulls where you’re going to have these beautiful teak steps that lead up onto the aft deck. Part of that spaceship design is that you’ve got this hidden tender garage that you can’t even really notice here that houses this Castoldi tender. Considering the length overall on ROYAL FALCON ONE is 135 feet, you get that 492 gross tons from our 12-and-a-half meter or 40-foot beam.

The aft deck is one of the main gathering places on board and one of the main reasons why you have this large built-in bench seat that runs all the way from the port to the starboard side and behind that is a large sun pad that’s built into the superstructure that’s essentially on top of the hidden tender garage.

Continuing forward from the aft deck you enter the salon through two sliding glass doors. Immediately entering the salon, you’re taken back by the long central corridor that leads all the way from the aft deck towards the bow. All the way back aft is the main salon. This is highlighted by three areas. To starboard, you have a full-service bar, centerline, a dining table that seats up to 12 guests, and to port, a built-in lounge area with multiple sitting areas.

Continuing forward past the dinette, you have a staircase that leads to the upper deck and to port, your entertainment system with a built-in flat-screen TV. Continuing forward down this corridor to port, you have access to your galley and from there you would head down below to your crew accommodations. Located directly off of the galley is what would be considered the crew mess. This is a great place for the crew to relax, have breakfast, have lunch considering it’s close proximity to the galley.

From here you enter the commercial-grade galley. A few things you notice, the commercial appliances, of course, a lot of natural light, and again close proximity to the main dining area onboard assuring that silver service.

From here we take the staircase down into the main crew area. I actually found the crew accommodations to be much larger than I expected on a Catamaran. I was blown away by the size, not only of the crew area but also the machine spaces and the engine room.

Now, ROYAL FALCON ONE doesn’t just look fast, she actually has extremely impressive performance numbers. She’s powered by MTU 16v 4000 M93 engines which are 4615 horsepower each. These engines power MJP 850 water jets which give her a top speed of 37-knots which is absolutely insane. Pull her back to an economical speed and she has a range of over 2000 nautical miles. To go a little bit more into the construction of the vessel, that’s what actually makes it even more impressive.

Some of the industry leaders came together for this design. Porsche design is obviously the highlight and the most recognizable name. But she’s also built to Lloyd’s class, she’s currently flagged in Cayman islands well-respected flag state, naval architecture is by Incat Crowthe who is the world leader in high-speed performance catamarans, building some notable names such as Hodor which happens to be the most recognizable catamaran in the world.

Now that we’re finished on the lower area with the engine room, let’s jump back up to the main deck and check out some of the guest accommodations. Located directly in between the casino lounge forward and the main salon back aft, are three of the five guest accommodations on board. These three guest accommodations are extremely similar. Each cabin has a very futuristic, very simple design to it from the wall features, the windows, the built-in berths all the way into the ensuites which have a large use of glass and again very simple stones and fabrics.

Heading back into that LED corridor, we’re going to continue all the way forward into what I’ve been referring to as the casino lounge. The casino lounge is the foremost area that makes up the main deck and with what everybody would refer to a casino, one of the main places that you would want to entertain when on board. The seating wraps around the forward end of this space and continues all the way to the starboard side. There’s a TV on the aft bulkhead, you have large windows and a bar that completes the port side.

Now like in the main salon, the bar found here in the casino lounge is not an afterthought. It’s actually a highlight and a design feature that really makes the space stand out. Each bar is highlighted by a display area in the back for your liquors, has a full refrigeration, freezers ice makers, sink and of course bar stools to complement the space.

We’re just coming up the central staircase to the bridge deck. It also leads you to the flybridge but for now, we’re going to go check out the master suite behind me. Now the master cabin is actually a very unique layout here because it combines the master cabin with the sky lounge making the space multi-purposed. Located into the port side, you have your sleeping accommodations which consist of a king-size bed and pop-up TV. To starboard, you have a built-in lounge space which is very similar in design to that found in the casino lounge in the main salon below.

Just forward of the master sleeping accommodations is the ensuite. The ensuite definitely has some highlight features that are worth pointing out. These features consist of the cork floor, the built-in jacuzzi tub, great large windows, glass-enclosed rain shower. You can really see that Porsche design shine here in this space.

Stepping out of this space to the bridge deck aft is one of the most impressive things about this yacht. This could be considered a private owner’s deck or it could be a statement location when dining on board. You have this beautiful skylight above the dining area and to port and to starboard, built-in wraparound settees that complement the design found on the main deck back aft.

This entire space is the epitome of what a Porsche design is to me. It’s that futuristic concept come to life and ROYAL FALCON ONE stands out to me as one of their most iconic creations. Another cool little design feature to point out here are the side decks that move forward both the port and starboard which offer you a private escape when you want to get away from the crowds.

Leaving the master cabin, we’re now going to check out the main VIP which is also located on the upper level. This space is similar to the other guest accommodations with that futuristic styling to it and of course, it’s complemented by an ensuite.

Forward on the upper deck is where we’re going to find the wheelhouse. The first thing I think you notice when entering into the wheelhouse is the actual size of it. So you can really appreciate the beam of ROYAL FALCON ONE which is 41-feet or 12-and-a-half meters. When the owner gave Porsche design the instructions to build himself a spaceship on water, one of the main design features are going to be these elongated bridge deck windows, really kind of ties in with that futuristic feel that you have here in the wheelhouse.

Highlight of the bridge deck are going to be these seven flat-paneled monitors, carbon fiber found throughout, beautiful captain’s chairs, great visibility, just gives you a really easy vantage point when running the boat.

Wrapping up the wheelhouse that leaves us one more deck to cover and that’s going to be the sundeck. One of the highlights on the vessel to me is going to be the centerline Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads, a great place to chill. You have a bar in front of that. So really all the amenities you need here on the sundeck. Covering the bar area, you have four carbon fiber poles with this beautiful sunshade, makes it a little bit more inviting on a really hot day.

The MTUs onboard power MJP 850 water jets. You’re going to have your main controls found both here at the upper helm and the main one down below. Similar to the lower helm, the highlight of this station are going to be your three flat-panel monitors and the rest of your controls are located within easy access of the captain’s chair. Now you can just imagine, blasting off and doing almost 37 knots from this vantage point, it’s just got to be a breathtaking experience.

Studio F. A. Porsche , the design team that is part of the Porsche group and affiliated with the legendary automaker, is continuing to position itself as a general authority on all things luxury by exploring different industries — like yachting . Its most recent endeavor? A distinctly futuristic-looking 135-foot catamaran called Royal Falcon One that just hit the market.

The motor yacht took 10 years to complete , according to Charter World. It was developed by Singapore-based Royal Falcon Fleet and built by Sweden-based Kockums shipyard .

The boat can accommodate 10 guests over five guest rooms, and it has a master suite with a private balcony. It also features other luxury amenities like an onboard bar, Jacuzzi, and tender garage.

Camper & Nicholsons holds the exclusive yacht listing and the price is available by application only. The listing agent, Hugo Van Schaik, deems Royal Falcon One to be "a spaceship on the water."

The luxury yacht has a cruising speed of roughly 15 knots and a maximum speed of 35 knots. It was specifically designed for low fuel consumption.

The multi-hull and wide beam design facilitates a spacious and luxurious feeling throughout several decks.

There is no shortage of indoor and outdoor areas for dining and relaxing. The interiors boast windows with panoramic views and furniture outfitted with fine leather.

Other luxurious amenities include an onboard bar in the main saloon and a Jacuzzi on the top sun deck.

The vessel can accommodate up to 10 guests and 10 crew members.

The crew quarters are located below deck in the hulls. There are four guest cabins and one master suite.

A Standout Design for Charter

Fraser Yachts recently welcomed the 135-foot Studio F.A. Porsche Royal Falcon One power catamaran to its charter fleet. It’s an unusual design in the marketplace: a power catamaran designed by Studio F.A. Porsche.

Royal Falcon One is a 2019 build that accommodates 10 guests in staterooms that include a main-deck master and a bridge-deck VIP. Onboard amenities include three bars and a sundeck hot tub.

Cruising speed on the all-aluminum build is 10 knots, with a top-end speed of 22 knots, according to Fraser.

Inquiries are now being accepted for charters year-round in the Mediterranean. The yacht is available for events such as MIPIM, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes Film Festival.

What’s the lowest weekly base rate to charter Royal Falcon One ? It’s about $211,000.

Such a striking exterior deserves exceptional interior design, and the interiors on ROYAL FALCON ONE do not disappoint. There are warm hardwood floors, high gloss wall panels, brushed stainless steel detailing, furnishings in the softest white leather and bursts of electric blue. The main salon hosts an expansive lounge with integrated sofa seating hugging the port side, a sit-up bar with handsome stainless steel and leather bar stools opposite, and a central table seating 10 for formal occasions and special celebrations. The salon flows through to the observation lounge which resembles an aircraft cockpit with its panoramic views, built-in leather seating and a bar.

Accommodations on ROYAL FALCON ONE are equally spectacular with five immaculate staterooms providing welcome retreats for her 10 guests. Located on the bridge deck, the expansive full-beam master stateroom incorporates a huge private lounge, an outdoor terrace with sofas, a dining table and amazing views, an indulgent king-size bed, a free-standing fireplace, and an opulent ensuite bathroom with stainless steel bathtub, separate shower and uninterrupted views. The VIP stateroom is also on this deck boasting a king-size bed, lovely lounge and generous ensuite shower room. The remaining three double staterooms are on the main deck with the same striking décor and luxurious amenities including dedicated ensuite facilities and plenty of natural light. All of the beds are raised from the floor and appear to float in space.

The drama continues outside with fabulous alfresco spaces for socializing, relaxing and entertaining. ROYAL FALCON ONE’s large main aft deck incorporates a huge sofa and sun pads overlooking the stern and the swimming platforms below. It provides a partially shaded escape during the day and a spot to dry off after a cooling dip in the sea. The sundeck is the place for uninterrupted bronzing on the sun pads while enjoying drinks from the bar or for a relaxing dip in the on-deck Jacuzzi, all with 360-degree views.

While simply enjoying time on this unique and luxurious motor catamaran will likely be entertainment enough for most guests, ROYAL FALCON ONE also has a range of toys to enjoy when she drops anchor in a secluded bay. Royal Falcon One: A 135-Foot Porsche Designed Catamaran

Have you heard of the catamaran called “Royal Falcon One”? If you haven't, then you are in for quite a treat when you start reading about it. As a matter of fact, you will probably be inspired to find out as much about it as you possibly can, including finding pictures of this astonishing and impressive-looking vessel . For starters, it's unlike anything else that's ever graced the water. In terms of both performance and appearance, it really doesn't have any equals to speak of. As a matter of fact, it was designed from scratch because there wasn't anything else even remotely like it when it was built. That means that design teams and engineers alike had to figure out how to create the ideal yacht and marry it to the hull of a catamaran, creating something that even the most discerning individual would be happy to sail on.

More Spaceship Than Aquatic Vessell

This particular vessel is something that looks much more like it was designed to appear on an episode of “Star Trek” than a boat that belongs on the water. It's as sleek as they come, looking far more like the aerodynamic, futuristic yacht that it truly is. Of course, it does have the catamaran hull , meaning that there is a lot of room that's lost at the front of the boat. Nevertheless, designers were able to come in and create something that was truly unique. There's no doubt about it, this boat looks very much like a high-end yacht in every respect except for the shape of the hull. On that end, it looks like one of the fastest racing boats that you're ever likely to lay eyes on. In reality, it really is all of these things wrapped up into one very sleek package. As a matter of fact, the boat is capable of traveling at an astonishing 43 mph, a speed that's much faster than a lot of smaller, lighter boats. If you know anything about boats, you know that this is more than respectable. It becomes even more so when you consider the fact that this particular boat is 135 feet long. While it's true that there might be some boats that are slightly faster, there certainly aren't many. In addition, this is a watercraft like nothing else that you could ever even imagine. It's not all about speed and performance. While it's certainly true that this is important, luxury matters as well.

Performance and Art Come Together

It is a truly beautiful thing when performance and art are capable of coming together, and that is precisely what has happened here. Not surprisingly, the company that built the boa t, Royal Falcon Fleet, decided to turn to someone who knows a thing or two about performance (albeit on land). They decided to get together with the engineers at Porsche in order to design the boat to look as sleek and is fast as any Porsche automobile ever has been. The key was to create something that was fully capable of looking beautiful, even as it was in the midst of outperforming virtually everything else on the water. No one would ever argue the fact that they definitely accomplished this goal. In fact, they couldn't have done a better job in the eyes of most individuals.

The Interior

The thing that is truly surprising about this particular boat is that it's a lot more spacious on the inside than you might think when looking at it from the outside. In fact, it has five separate cabins and is capable of comfortably sleeping up to 10 people with room to spare. In addition to room for guests, there is also room for a crew of 10 to man the boat. Surprisingly enough, their quarters are actually located within the twin hulls of the boat. As such, they're completely out of sight until they are needed. As a matter of fact, it seems that the one thing this boat does not lack is space, despite the earlier assumption made about the catamaran hull causing an issue. In addition to sleeping quarters and a separate master suite that is located upstairs, the boat has a kitchen that would rival any 5-star hotel and an entertainment room to match. There, guests can rest and relax, read, watch television or do virtually anything else that they would like to do. There's also a separate sun deck that can be found directly off the master suite. Of course, you're going to get plenty of sun with this boat as well. It incorporates windows that run all the way around the boat itself.

There's no doubt about it, this is a boat that's capable of rivaling even the most exclusive hotels in the world. There are many elements of it that are inspired by these types of hotels, not the least of which include full accommodations and spacious quarters. In some aspects, the boat is not unlike the Porsche automobiles that the design team from that company are also responsible for. This one just happens to glide across the water as opposed to racing down the road. In still other respects, it is a luxurious yacht that simply cannot be rivaled. Perhaps that is what makes this particular vessel so unique. It doesn’t incorporate only one of the aforementioned qualities, but all of them mixed together. The beauty of it is that all of these qualities come together in order to create something that is genuinely out of this world. When you look at it, you're not sure if it's meant to float on the water or if it's about to take to the skies and do a few laps. After all, what would you expect from a boat that can cut through the water at more than 40 miles per hour?

Royal superyachts: how kings and queens sail the sea.

• Magisterial mega-yachts have ferried royals around the world
• "Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia" is one of the most splendid examples
• Others include yachts owned by the royal families of Dubai, Monaco and Norway

(CNN) -- Before luxury yachting was the preserve of Russian tycoons and Silicon Valley moguls, it was only the world's wealthiest royals who built palaces on the sea.

There have been and continue to be a fleet of imperial yachts used to transport royals, from Russian czars to princes of Monaco, in the opulent fashion to which they are accustomed.

"Britannia"

There are probably few finer examples of a regal leisure boat than "Her Majesty's Yacht (HMY) Britannia," built in 1953 for Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.

Now decommissioned and on display in Edinburgh, Scotland, the vast and lavishly designed " HMY Britannia " has sailed over one million miles during 44 years of service and in the course of 968 official royal visits.

Once described by Queen Elizabeth as "the one place where I can truly relax," the royal yacht, built to many of the queen's specifications, boasts huge dining rooms adorned with gifts and curiosities from around the world, including a whale rib found by her husband on a beach.

In addition, there's a sun lounge with furniture chosen by the queen and a garage built to house the royal Rolls-Royce.

Sir Winston Churchill, Boris Yeltsin, Rajiv Gandhi and Nelson Mandela are among the famous names who have joined the queen on board over the years, but "HMY Britannia" was also deployed for more private and romantic occasions.

As Kate and William add the finishing touches to their wedding plans , they may well feel a pang of regret that "Britannia" is no longer in service. Four royal honeymoons took place on board, including Prince Charles and Princess Diana's 16-day trip in the Mediterranean.

"Dubai"

Today, the undisputed champion of royal vessels belongs to Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose $300 million mega-yacht is christened -- somewhat unimaginatively -- "Dubai."

Measuring 524 feet long, it's the world's second-largest yacht, eclipsed only by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's suitably named "Eclipse."

Three elevators and one vast open glass stairway serve its multitude of decks which, aside from the gold-finished, jewel-encrusted VIP guestrooms and appropriately palatial master bedrooms, contain a squash room, spa, banquet hall and cinema. And did we mention the helicopter pad up top?

In keeping with the fantasy-flavored extravagance of "Dubai," the yacht is moored year-round on the artificial "Logo Island," situated next to the country's emblematic, man-made archipelago "Palm Islands" -- built from one billion cubic meters of rock and sand.

"Standart"

If you thought that Abramovich and his fellow billionaires were the first of their countrymen to build ultra-ostentatious pleasure boats, then think again.

The Russian imperial yacht "Standart," built according to the specifications of Emperor Alexander III and his son Nicholas, was the largest imperial yacht on the oceans during the late 19th and early 20th century.

Completed in 1895, the opulent vessel was 401 feet long -- about the length of a soccer pitch -- colossal even by today's immodest standards.

Indeed, "Standart" was a veritable floating palace, adorned with mahogany-paneled drawing rooms, formal salons with polished floors, brass fittings, crystal chandeliers and velvet drapes.

The czar's private study was furnished in dark leather and elegant wooden furniture, while the czarina's drawing room and boudoir were bedecked in her favorite English chintz. The imperial yacht even had its own chapel for the private use of the family.

However, Russia's largest royal yacht was also her last. After the revolution in 1917, the ship was stripped of all its elegance, renamed "Vosemnadtsate Martza" and refitted as a drab, gray minelayer for service in the Soviet Navy. The boat was scrapped at Tallinn in Estonia in 1963.

"M/Y Grace"

Decked out with a Jacuzzi, sea kayaks, snorkeling gear and wetsuits, "M/Y Grace" is one of the few specially tailored yachts fit to chart the delicate waters surrounding the Galapagos Islands.

The boat's regal past is only hinted at in its name. "M/Y Grace," as the vessel is now known, was once the royal yacht of Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco.

When American actress Grace Kelly married the prince of Monaco, the couple were extensively pictured honeymooning on this exquisite 147-foot-long yacht, given to them as a wedding gift by prominent Greek shipping merchant Aristotle Onassis.

The boat was captured on boundless newsreels as cameras and reporters followed Kelly on her last voyage from the United States to her new home in what was then styled "the wedding of the century." The couple left the day after the ceremony to cruise the coasts of Corsica and Sardinia.

"K/S Norge"

The K/S Norge is one of the last active royal yachts in Europe, belonging to Herald V, King of Norway.

Built in 1937 by Camper and Nicholson, the oldest leisure marine company in the world, the boat was originally owned by British aviation pioneer Sir Thomas Sopwith -- who had given it over to the UK's Royal Navy to serve as a convoy escort vessel during World War II.

In July 1947, the ship was purchased by the people of Norway as a present to the much beloved King Haakon VII for his 75th birthday. The royal yacht was renamed "Norge," the Norwegian word for Norway.

Still used today for state visits abroad, the classically shaped yacht is also employed as a base for the king when he competes in international yacht races.
