KingFisher Boats traces its roots back to 1959. Today, we are the fastest growing brand of welded heavy-gauge vessels in North America. We design and hand-build 34 models distributed by 42 authorized friendly dealers located from Alaska to California to Newfoundland.
Every one of our heavy-gauge welded boat begins with Pre-Flex® hull technology—and it’s what makes them so impressive. The Pre-Flex® concept has been around since the dawn of architecture. It’s simple really—when you arch a structure towards the load, it strengthens the structure’s capability to handle the load. Part of the boats made in Canada directory.

The lessons we learn in the workshop are passed on to first time builders in the form of how-to books, classes, hard-to-find building materials, and kits. We measure our success in the thousands of Bear Mountain canoes and kayaks that emerge from home workshops around the world each year. Part of the boats made in Canada directory. :

Streamline Boats & Trailers Ltd. Maple Ridge, BC
|
Streamline Boats & Trailers custom designs and builds river, ocean and lake boats for recreational and commercial purposes using jet, sterndrive and outboard applications. Boats built by Streamline are designed and built to suit each customer’s individual needs and purposes. The construction used in the hull design incorporates Streamline’s own proprietary hydro-lift pad bottom and variable V deadrise, giving sharp entry for superior rough water ride and protection against pump cavitation. The Canadian made boats design tapers back to a shallow deadrise at the transom, which allows the boat to run in extreme shallow water. Streamline’s newly engineered hull gives boaters an all-water package: one multi-purpose boat, improved fuel efficiency, less water drag (meaning more speed), and less wear-and-tear on engine and pump parts. Canadian Airboats Limited Vernon, BC
|
Our advanced hull designs and cages are engineered to handle the tough conditions of a cold winter climate. We powder-coat our cages, engine stands and pilot seat stands which will last longer than regular paint, with fewer rusting problems or corrosion, making your airboat last longer and require less maintenance. Our airboats are Department of Transport Canada approved as we comply by using TP 1332 flotation, setting the Canadian safety standards of the airboat industry in Canada. Our airboats are used in industry as safety is paramount in keeping employees as safe as possible. Part of the boats made in Canada directory. :

Founded by Paul Tennyson who began building the CORNICE dinghy as part of his reinforced plastics business. In 1971 CS dropped dinghy production and began building keelboats under a new name, CS Yachts. In its best year, 1986, CS built 175 30s, 33s, and 36s and the company moved to an expanded 100,000 sq. ft. facility the following year. By 1990 the company began to wind down it’s production due to the diminishing demand for new boats and closed in 1992. CS Yachts models included the CS 22, designed by John Butler. Raymond Wall, the former chief designer for Camper Nicholson, was CS’s chief designer from 1977 to 1983. His CS 27 was followed by the 36, and finally the 33. Tony Castro then took over the duties and drew the CS 36 Merlin, and eventually produced five others, the 30, 44, 40 and finally the 34.

Sailors are certainly passionate about their boats, and if you doubt that bold statement, try posting an article dubbed “ 40 Best Sailboats ” and see what happens.
Barely had the list gone live, when one reader responded, “Where do I begin? So many glaring omissions!” Like scores of others, he listed a number of sailboats and brands that we were too stupid to think of, but unlike some, he did sign off on a somewhat upbeat note: “If it weren’t for the presence of the Bermuda 40 in Cruising World’s list, I wouldn’t even have bothered to vote.”
By vote, he means that he, like hundreds of other readers, took the time to click through to an accompanying page where we asked you to help us reshuffle our alphabetical listing of noteworthy production sailboats so that we could rank them instead by popularity. So we ask you to keep in mind that this list of the best sailboats was created by our readers.
The quest to building this list all began with such a simple question, one that’s probably been posed at one time or another in any bar where sailors meet to raise a glass or two: If you had to pick, what’re the best sailboats ever built?
In no time, a dozen or more from a variety of sailboat manufacturers were on the table and the debate was on. And so, having fun with it, we decided to put the same question to a handful of CW ‘s friends: writers and sailors and designers and builders whose opinions we value. Their favorites poured in and soon an inkling of a list began to take shape. To corral things a bit and avoid going all the way back to Joshua Slocum and his venerable Spray —Hell, to Noah and his infamous Ark —we decided to focus our concentration on production monohull sailboats, which literally opened up the sport to anyone who wanted to get out on the water. And since CW is on the verge or turning 40, we decided that would be a nice round number at which to draw the line and usher in our coming ruby anniversary.
If you enjoy scrolling through this list, which includes all types of sailboats, then perhaps you would also be interested in browsing our list of the Best Cruising Sailboats . Check it out and, of course, feel free to add your favorite boat, too. Here at Cruising World , we like nothing better than talking about boats, and it turns out, so do you.
