• Beyonce spent her birthday vacationing on a high-end ship in Croatia with Jay-Z and their three kids, the Daily Mail and Total Croatia News reported earlier this week. 
• Imperial , a luxury yacht broker, is chartering the new superyacht called Lana, which can hold up to 12 guests and 31 crew members and will be available for private reservations, starting in the spring.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are exploring European waters with their family aboard a new superyacht, according to multiple reports in TMZ, Daily Mail, and Total Croatia News.

While there are no official criteria to categorize a yacht as a superyacht, Bill Springer, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Ocean Home, wrote for Forbes that "all superyachts are opulent enough to be equipped with an object that represents the epitome of luxury."

This particular superyacht, known as Lana, will be available for charter for about $2 million a week beginning in the spring.

This is more than the cost of a typical week-long superyacht rental, which can come to about $150,000, per CNBC. Kismet, the 312-foot superyacht that Beyonce and Jay-Z traveled on in 2018, costs about $1.3 million per week.

It features amenities like a gym, a spa, and a helicopter landing pad.

Clusters of couches and chairs are spread out on Lana's decks for groups to hang out.

The sun deck comes with a heated pool that's about nine yards long.

The same deck has a dining room that seats about 12 people.

Sculptures that decorate the yacht's interior mimic the flow of the ocean, according to the company website.

Lana holds 12 total guests per trip who can stay in one of the eight suites aboard the ship.

Seven of them are referred to as VIP guest rooms, and each room has its own color scheme.

The eighth room is a master suite.

This is the ship's beach club, which is an entertainment area with a waterfront.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z didn’t grace us with their presence at the Met Gala this week, but we can’t blame them at all — they’ve been too busy living their best lives on a superyacht in the Mediterranean. The photos the couple has given us on Bey’s Instagram account leave no question that they are a part of the elite one-percent because this yacht is exquisite.

The Flying Fox is a $400-million private cruise ship that can be chartered out for $4 million per week, making this a vacation that only the mega-rich can afford. (See the photos here .) There are a lot of rumors that the boat is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, but that seems to be a questionable fact depending on who you talk to. And because this is no ordinary yacht, designer Mark Berryman came in to create gorgeous interiors filled with “bamboo, teak and oak,” according to Boat International.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have a pick of 10 VIP suites, but it’s likely they chose the master stateroom, which comes well-equipped for any A-list celebrity. We are talking about a bedroom with his and her dressing areas, a hot tub, a salon with a wood fireplace and a private office in case either of them has business to tend to on their vacation . There’s also a staff of 54 crew members, who specialize in everything from sports (if you need a little exercise) to beauty specialists (in case a facial is in order).

And we can’t forget about the food! The Carters are dining in style this week with chefs who can cater to their every whim , which is probably a good idea since their three kids, Blue Ivy, 9, and twins Rumi and Sir, 4, are with them — picky eaters can be accommodated. The family can feast on a “Michelin-star restaurant” meal or keep it more casual on the bridge deck with food from the “Teppanyaki grill, rotisserie oven, BBQ or spit roast tandoori oven.” Whatever menu they decide, they are going to eat well on their vacation — and it certainly puts any commercial cruise any of us might take to shame. Next time, we want to travel with the Carters (only if they pay for it).

In September 2021, Beyoncé and Jay-Z were seen in the Mediterranean on board the world's most expensive charter boat, Flying Fox.

When Jay-Z and Beyoncé travel on vacation—or anyplace else for that matter—people take note. And you might argue that when you vacation onboard the 450-foot-long, 67-foot-wide superyacht Flying Fox , which was built by Lürssen in Germany and costs over $4 million per week to charter, people notice just a little bit more.

However, superyachts that are significantly longer than a football field (such as Flying Fox and Jerry Jones' Bravo Eugina ) also receive a lot of attention.

On September 4, the famous artist celebrated her 40th birthday, which she had at the beginning of the month. Since then, it's been nonstop partying, with Beyonce and her equally renowned husband Jay-Z enjoying their holiday aboard the Flying Fox. "When are you returning home?" fans ask, while others complain that "Beyonce hasn't been letting us breathe recently," referring to the singer's numerous updates on social media.

And, as you can see in the first image, superyacht designer Espen Oeino has created an exquisite yacht exterior that, despite her vast size, appears sleek. The exterior's balance and proportion allow for a large deck area with a variety of alternatives for Jay-Z, Beyonce, and their friends to enjoy.

It's one thing to spend some vacation time on a luxurious boat, as most celebrities do, but it's quite another to go on a private cruise on what might be considered a floating resort. The Flying Fox pampers its guests with everything they could possibly want, from a massive pool, theater, and nightlife to a high-end spa center and two restaurants.

Fans, understandably, are enthralled by the opportunity to go inside the two superstars' private haven. Who wouldn't want to know what it's like to spend a week on board a megayacht that costs $4 million to charter? The Flying Fox was just commissioned two years ago, yet it is now regarded as the world's largest charter megayacht, with six decks.

After all, these megastars flew to a casual dinner in New York by helicopter, so it's to be expected of Beyonce and Jay-Z. When you're sailing through some of the world's most beautiful regions, such as Southern Europe, you want it to last for weeks. And you've got $4 million a week to do it in their case.

D-Wave and Gabrielle Union's recent trip to Europe, which they've called the "Wade World Tour 2021," is the only other celebrity superyacht vacation that comes close to this one. It wasn't, however, on board the world's largest charter megayacht, which is rumored to be owned by Jeff Bezos .

What Beyoncé And Jay-Z's Superyacht Vacation Is Really Like, According To An Expert

Go big or go home, as they say. And when it comes to Beyoncé and Jay-Z , that meant celebrating Bey's 39th birthday by traveling to Croatia for a vacation on a superyacht . That's right, a superyacht . And yes, the name is well-deserved.

Don't believe us? Then you'll surely be interested in what Braden Sterling, Managing Director of The Agency Carmel-Pebble Beach, told Nicki Swift . That's because the expert offered some exclusive insight into what a superyacht — specifically the super-expensive superyacht that Bey enjoyed — is really like. "Some say it's all about the destination but when it comes to chartering a superyacht, it's all about the vessel and the experiences it has to offer," Sterling explained, and you're about to find out how true that is.

"There are many different types of experiences depending on the yacht," Sterling says. "I have had the pleasure of sailing on a 171 foot Perini Navi in the San Francisco Bay with a crew worthy of competing in the America's Cup. This was an experience full of adrenaline and in contrast to chartering a 100 foot Cerri Cantieri Navali on the Amalfi Coast, which is all about rest and relaxation, fine wine, dining, and 'port hopping.'" On the other hand, Sterling points out that "perhaps one prefers ... a motor yacht outfitted with water slides, jet skis, and scuba gear." Frankly, "there really is something for everyone." As for Beyoncé and Jay-Z, that something was a jaw-droppingly massive yacht with all of the luxuries they could want.

In order to celebrate Beyoncé's birthday in September 2020, the singer and her family chartered Imperial Yachts' LANA, a superyacht that is "top of the line as far as luxury is concerned," according to TMZ . Stretching "longer than a football field," the spacious boat offers room for "12 guests — not counting the 34 crew members it also accommodates — in 8 en-suite staterooms, 7 VIP rooms, and a master suite." There's also a "pool on the deck, a theater, a spa with professional masseuses, [and] foldable terraces," as well as the use of "a jet ski, wakeboards, SEABOBs, water skies, inflatable paddleboards, fishing equipment," and more.

Managing Director of The Agency Carmel-Pebble Beach Braden Sterling gave Nicki Swift even more information on the spectacular vessel, saying that the "yacht Beyoncé and Jay-Z charted" — which is so big it's actually a "giga-yacht" — "is special in that it was built by Benetti, a subsidiary of the Azimut Yachts company, which is based in Viareggio," which is "known as the yacht capital of Italy." Our expert noted that it's "equivalent to a luxury brand such as Valentino or Versace." That means the "[c]raftsmanship and materials are the finest," while the yacht also offers "unique amenities."

"Beyoncé and Jay-Z were the first to charter the vessel, a genius launch by Imperial to unveil their largest offering to date," Sterling noted. However, if you're interested in taking the same kind of trip, be prepared to pay a lot of money!

If you're now dreaming of taking a vacation on a superyacht like Beyoncé and Jay-Z, you should know that Managing Director of The Agency Carmel-Pebble Beach Braden Sterling let Nicki Swift in on the fact that the "associated costs with chartering a superyacht are largely based on the location, the season, and the experiences the boat has to offer," as well as if the yacht comes with "a full crew." So how much did Bey pay (unless she got it for free)? Cosmopolitan  puts the cost at over $2 million per week.

Sterling notes that there are also "mega-yachts" that are "only accessible by the elite via a personal invite from the yacht's owner." In that case, "[n]on-disclosures by all crew and captain are required, which says much about the guests and the events that take place." Considering Beyoncé and Jay-Z are two of the biggest stars in the world and have a family to protect , a non-disclosure clause seems like it would be an enticing perk.

Beyond that, Sterling shared that there will be "[c]ustomized 24-hour pampering based on pre-board guest preference sheets, in a completely private environment, with dining specific to your personal diet, amenities tailored for relaxation with all the amenities one can dream of." And, of course, "a tender that provides quick access to private beaches or port towns for dining and shopping, along with access to private clubs." Sterling assures us that it's "truly an experience like no other."

Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z have been cruising the waters of the Mediterranean on board a $2.75 million-a-week superyacht.

The stars, who are estimated to be worth a combined $1.92 billion, celebrated Beyoncé’s 39th birthday aboard the incredible boat with their children, Blue Ivy, 8, and twins, Rumi and Sir, 3.

The Sun reports Beyonce and Jay-Z were spotted doting on their kids off the coast of Cavtat, Croatia.

They have been cruising around on the 106m long and 13m high luxurious yacht Lana for Beyoncé’s week-long birthday bonanza holiday.

Built by an Italian shipyard, Lana is one of the most impressive superyachts on the water.

Inside there are eight staterooms and one master suite, each with an ensuite and decorated in an individual colour scheme.

Lana also has plenty of entertainment to keep her VIP guests occupied during their stay.

There is a luxurious spa with treatment rooms to unwind and indulge, a well-equipped gym with professional trainers, a cinema room with an impressive audio system and an outdoor pool to savour sunny days.

The superyacht also has a unique Beach Club and two folding terraces, which offer all the state-of-the-art toys including jet skis, wakeboards, SEABOBs, waterskis, inflatable paddleboards and fishing equipment.

Lana can also host up to 34 crew to make sure the Knowles-Carter clan has their every need catered to.

The Crazy In Love hitmakers headed out on one of Lana’s speed boats during the seven-day jaunt in Croatia with their youngest two children.

The family protected themselves from coronavirus by wearing face masks when on dry land, with Beyoncé’s mask sporting a white-lined smile across it.

The break came after Beyoncé was recently spotted filming in the Hamptons and the release of her visual album, Black is King on Disney+.

The entertainer spoke about Black Is King in an interview with Good Morning America and revealed all the work that went into it.

She said: “It’s been a year in the making. I worked with a diverse group of very gifted directors, actors and creatives from all over the world to reimagine the story of The Lion King .

“The narrative story unfolds through music videos, fashion, dance, beautiful natural settings and raw, new talent.

“But it all started in my backyard. So, from my house to Johannesburg, to Ghana, to London, to Belgium, to the Grand Canyon. It was truly a journey to bring this film to life.”

It was Beyoncé’s first visual album since Lemonade in 2016, which topped many best albums list.

Paps recently snapped shots of B&J stepping off their luxury vacay vessel with a couple of their kids in tow in Croatia. Aside from the spectacle of seeing the Carters anywhere in the world, their floating home away from home is also turning heads.

Their ride is called LANA, which is exclusively for charter with Imperial Yachts . This one's brand, spanking new in their line of mega ships, and it's top of the line as far as luxury is concerned. Take a look for yourself.

It’s safe to say that when it comes to chartering a superyacht, Beyoncé and Jay-Z can literally choose any vessel in the world. Price is obviously no object—their combined net worth is said to be about $3 billion—and even an owner who doesn’t normally rent out his yacht could hardly resist an offer from the superstar duo.

So it’s telling that on an epic trip to Croatia in 2020, they decided to set sail on the 350-ft. Benetti -built Lana , one of the most luxurious and expensive yachts in the world.

Lana , which reportedly cost around $2 million per week to charter at the time, houses 12 guests along with 34 crew in an array of sybaritic staterooms. It features a spa with multiple treatment rooms, a cinema, beach club, helipad and more, helping it win numerous design awards, including “Yacht of the Year” (270 ft.-plus LOA) during the 2019 edition of the World Yachts Trophies in Cannes.

It has since reportedly been acquired by a member of Abu Dhabi’s royal family, who joins a long list of illustrious Benetti owners, from Prince Rainier of Monaco to David Bowie and Donald Trump; a Benetti superyacht belonging to the infamous Adnan Khashoggi was even featured in the 1983 Bond film Never Say Never Again .

The iconic Italian shipyard, now part of Azimut|Benetti Group, has been in the business for 150 years, and to help celebrate the milestone, Assouline has brought out a suitably stylish, oversized book titled simply Benetti from the French luxury publisher’s Legends Collection.

“This new volume is a celebration of the heritage and dedication of all the people—founders, designers and the entire workforce—who have made Benetti a touchstone in the global luxury yachting world,” as Assouline put it in a promo for the book written by Kevin Koenig, one of the world’s most authoritative yachting journalists.

Once completed by the iconic Italian shipyard, Benetti’s yachts are built to remain a thing of joy forever. “Designed and engineered to remain untouched by time, every Benetti superyacht is built to exceed the expectations of every shipowner it will encounter, today and tomorrow,” as the brand itself declares.

Founded in Viareggio, Italy, in 1873, Benetti obviously had a rich archive of imagery and other unpublished material for the book, which is designed to “capture the brand’s essence [and] bear witness to the passion and hard work that have contributed to making Benetti one of the world’s leading luxury brands.”

The book “accompanies readers through the decades of challenges, successes and innovations of the shipyard, from its founding through to the 1960s, when Benetti invented the concept of the modern megayacht, [when it] launched the iconic and timeless ‘motopanfilo’ yachts… and from the technological revolution of the 1990s and 2000s, which saw the introduction of diesel-electric engines [for the first time] on the Ambrosia III ,”—through to the even more spectacular invention of the “gigayacht,” and what Benetti now refers to as its “giga season,” a period of just 100 days in 2020 that saw the launch of the Lana (as favored by Beyoncé and Jay-Z), Luminosity , and IJE , all over 100 meters (328 ft). long, and including the largest hybrid yacht in the world.

An astonishing feat perhaps, but a perfectly natural evolution for a company that embodies “150 years of values, handed down from father to son, with a passion for excellence, design and technological innovation,” as Benetti puts it. Theirs is a shipyard that “over the years has been able to create real works of art, the only one that can boast an example kept at the same home with Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings, at the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan: the ‘Brigantino San Giorgio,’ launched in 1921,” one of the most beautiful luxury yachts ever built.

In the 1960s, aka the “Dolce Vita” era in Italy, under the helm of Lorenzo Benetti, the shipyard “revolutionized the yachting world by switching construction from wood to steel,” allowing an exponential increase in the size of yachts that could be built; and leading to Benetti’s Delfino, Gabbiano and Mediterraneo series of yachts, which instantly became industry legends. Owners of these awe-inspiring vessels included Prince Rainier of Monaco; David Bowie, who used to spend his holidays on his yacht ‘El Caran’ with Mick Jagger; and Michael Caine. The Beatles were often guests of their manager on board another one of Benetti’s Delfino builds.

As Benetti’s reputation kept growing, in 1980 Saudi billionaire Adnan Khashoggi commissioned one of the most famous and luxurious yachts of all time. The gold and marble-fitted Nabila cost around $100 million—about $355 million today—to build, and was later renamed the “Trump Princess” by its subsequent owner, Donald Trump. “The Nabila became such an icon that it was featured in the James Bond’s film Never Say Never Again ,” the shipyard notes, while the band Queen also immortalized the yacht in the song “Kashoggi’s Ship.”

Then in 1985, Benetti was acquired by Paolo Vitelli, “the young owner of the Azimut yacht brand, who held great admiration for the Livorno shipyard’s excellence in the luxury yacht industry,” the Benetti’s official history recounts. “Under the new name, Cantiere Benetti, Vitelli implemented a financial restructuring plan to restore the brand to its former splendor,” they note.

“His intuition to use composite material in the new Classic 115-ft. line of 1988 led to the sale of a 100 examples in just 10 years, still an absolute record in the nautical world. With a pioneering approach and anticipating what would later become [an industry standard], more than two decades ago, Vitelli built the world’s first diesel-electric yacht, the Ambrosia , in 2006. He also established an in-house R&D center, focusing on reducing consumption and increasing the use of sustainable materials.”

One of Benetti’s most recent creations best embodies the brand’s longstanding dedication to scientific approaches and innovation: At 350 feet, Luminosity launched in 2020, is the largest megayacht in the world with a hybrid propulsion engine. And in 2022, the 121-ft. B.Yond was awarded as the greenest yacht in its class, for its even more innovative hybrid propulsion system. In the same year, the shipyard “revolutionized the concept of on-board lifestyle with the Oasis Deck” series of yachts with deployable sidewing sterns that open level with the water, “creating yet another new trend in the yachting industry.”

As with every Benetti build over the past 150 years, be it a wooden yacht or modern marvel of technology, as Vitelli says in the book, the crowning moment is a crescendo of worldclass craftsmanship, starting from the moment of commission: “The exterior line is chosen. The accommodation areas are designed for maximum comfort and convenience. A myriad of technologies are evolved, tested and applied to improve the product on a technical level. A thousand details and a thousand decisions—finally culminating in the most glorious moment of the launching.”

She recently opened up about her tumultuous relationship with her husband in telling lyrics on her dance album Renaissance. 

Yet Beyonce proved that all is well as she was seen puckering up to Jay-Z on Wednesday while aboard a luxury yacht in Croatia during their romantic summer getaway. 

The 40-year-old singer looked sensational as she donned a vibrant canary yellow kaftan with pink accents on the trim and a bold pattern on the hemline.

The singer released her long-awaited seventh studio album titled Renaissance earlier this month much to the joy of her fans after it was leaked two days prior.

In a series of songs, the mother-of-three referenced her 21-year relationship with rapper Jay Z as she mused that 'nobody's perfect' and insisted that they 'don't need the world's acceptance.'

Beyonce first spoke publicly about her husband's infidelity in her 2016 visual album Lemonade, referencing the other woman as 'Becky with the good hair.'

The following year Jay Z referenced the scandal himself, claiming he had 'gone into survival mode' so had to 'shut down emotionally,' which resulted in him being unfaithful.

Appearing to reference the ongoing scrutiny surrounding her relationship, Beyo nce sings in Renaissance track Plastic On The Sofa: 'We don't need the world's acceptance. They're too hard on me, they're too hard on you, boy.'

She also sings: 'Boy, I know you can't help but to be yourself around me, yourself around me. And I know nobody's perfect so I'll let you be, I'll let you be.

The singer also seems confident that Jay Z won't be repeating his antics, belting out: 'I'm one of one, I'm number one, I'm the only one.

'Don't even waste your time trying to compete with me. No one else in this world can think like me. I'm twisted, contradicted, keep him addicted.'

Fun in the sun: The pair were no doubt looking forward to spending their downtime together out in the sunshine after a busy few weeks polishing  off Beyonce's latest album 

Beyonce also referenced her husband's scandal with her sister Solange.

In 2014, Solange was filmed attacking Jay Z in an elevator at the Met Gala, with her Beyonce and her husband releasing a joint statement at the time stressing it was a ‘private family matter’.

However, later in the year she referenced in a remix of her single, Flawless: 'And we could go around and get some good karma, but no. We escalate, up in this b***h like elevators. Of course sometimes s**t go down, when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator’.

She has now appeared to reference the scandal again in new single Cozy, singing: 'She’s a god, she’s a hero, she survived, all she been through, confident and she lethal.

'Might I suggest you don’t f**k with my sis, because she ­comfortable. Comfortable in my skin, cozy with who I am.'

A Closer Look at Beyonce's Galactica Star

When not busy running their music and acting careers, power couple Jaz-Z and Beyonce Carter are enjoying their superyacht, Galactica Star. Jay-Z reportedly purchased the yacht for $70 million for Beyonce's birthday after the couple enjoyed it with their daughter Blue Ivy when they rented Galactica during the summer of 2015. The yacht is large and incredibly fuel-efficient. Both the interior and deck are spacious and offer panoramic views of the sea. The yacht comes with a lot of perks including three upper deck areas, several outdoor and indoor lounging areas, a pool and Jacuzzi, a state of the art galley, plenty of dining space, a state of the art control room and accommodations for up to twelve guests and thirteen crew members. Here's a closer look at Beyonce and Jay-Z's yacht, Galactica Star.

A Birthday Gift

Jay-Z and Beyonce were spotted sailing on the Galactica Star with their daughter Blue Ivy in 2015. It's believed that the yacht's owner rented it out to celebrities for nearly a million a week. The couple purchased the yacht from Kola Aluka, a Nigerian oil tycoon for purportedly $70 million. It was a 32nd birthday gift to Beyonce from her husband. The growing family has been spotted sailing their yacht in the Mediterranean Sea several times with family and guests.

Fast and Fuel Efficient

Galactica Star was designed by Omega Yachts and built-in Heesen's Dutch shipyard. The designers and shipyard are well known for creating luxury yachts with the latest technology and fuel efficiency. The 213-foot yacht was launched in 2013. At the time of its launch, it was the world's "fastest displacement yacht". It reaches a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. The sleek, aerodynamic design and aluminum hull give this yacht high performance with low resistance. The result is fuel efficiency. The Galactica Star burns much less fuel than other yachts that are the same size. It can travel thousands of nautical miles on just one fuel tank. Stabilizers keep guests comfortable. The control room is state of the art with the latest in technological equipment and touch screen displays. The Galactica Star yacht is said to be highly maneuverable.

Outdoor Space

Omega Yachts stopped at nothing when designing the sleek exterior of the Galactica Star yacht. The multiple decks fit in well with the yacht's sleek, sophisticated design. The yacht is filled with luxury amenities to enjoy travel on the sea. The two-story Beach Club features a Jacuzzi and lounging area on the upper deck with a 10 square meter balcony to lounge on below leading off the air-conditioned lounge and bar area. There is also a sauna. There is a glass-bottom pool on the Galactica Star's main deck with a large 22 square foot swim platform to enter the sea. The yacht also features an ample tender garage under the foredeck to store all of Carter's sea toys for them and their guests to use as they enjoy the water while cruising off the Mediterranean coast. The fore deck's sunbathing deck transforms into a helipad for the Carters and their guest's convenience. There is plenty of space to get fresh sea air along the side decks of the Galactica Star. The outdoor lounge and dining area and the decks blend seamlessly with the yacht's interior.

The award-winning interior design of the Galactica Star yacht was the work of Bannenberg & Rowell of London. The design won an award for best yacht interior design at the World Yacht Trophies in Cannes in 2014. The Galactica Star accommodates up to twelve guests. There is a large master suite on the main deck with a stone and marble master bath as well as a desk and dressing table. The yacht also features a VIP suite on the upper deck. In addition, there are four cabins, two with double beds and two with twin beds. There are also accommodations for thirteen crew.

The Galactica Star features natural wood, with natural tones of cream, gray and brown. There are accents of sea blue and green sea tones. Mirrors increase the sense of space. There are several lounging areas with ample comfortable seating and plasma televisions. Off the main salon is a wide bar that leads to the large dining area. The galley is filled with state of the art cooking equipment. The chic main staircase features a combination of high gloss flooring and plush carpet. The interior spaces have floor to ceiling windows so no one will miss the fact that they are at sea and open spaces to enjoy the fresh sea air.

Certainly, Beyonce and Jay-Z are enjoying their superyacht whenever they get a chance. They have been spotted on the yacht with family and friends including the couple's children Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir. Throwing $70 million on a yacht that they can enjoy in their spare time isn't that much when you consider Jay-Z's net worth is about $1 billion and Beyonce's net worth is about $355 million. Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) has led a successful career as a rapper, songwriter, producer and record executive since starting his career in 1989. He also has businesses including his Rocawear clothing line, Aspiro technology company, Tidal music streaming service and a sports bar chain, 40/40 Club. Beyonce has had a successful career as a singer since debuting with the group Destiny's Child in 1997 and continued her success with her solo career. She's also an actress with her latest role being the voice of Nala in the new "Lion King" movie. She also sings on the soundtrack. Jay-Z and Beyonce married in 2008 and are one of the most important power couples today. They deserve a little time off from their work to enjoy friends and family on the Galactica Star.

When Jay-Z and Beyoncé go on vacation, people take note.

And people notice that little bit more when they vacation aboard a 450-foot-long superyacht that costs $4 million per week to charter.

Apparently, the celebrity couple are currently onboard the Flying fox sailing around Europe.

It’s one thing to spend some vacation time on a luxurious boat – as most celebs do.

But it’s quite another to go on a private cruise on what might be considered a floating resort.

The Flying Fox pampers its guests with everything they could possibly want.

The yacht features an arrany of stunning amenities, including a spacious pool on the main deck and a cinema for movie enthusiasts.

Then there’s an elevator for easy access between decksm and two helipads capable of accommodating the largest helicopters on the market.

IT also offers a large beach area and swim platforms, providing ample space for leisure and water activities. 

Jay-Z and Beyoncé will also be indulging in ultimate relaxation at the two-deck spa, complete with a gym, sauna, hammam, and massage area.

Then, for added safety and convenience, the Flying Fox is equipped with a hospital and decompression chamber.

The Flying was designed by Espen Øino International and built by Lurssen Yachts .

With a steel hull and alumnium superstructure, the magnificent vessel is powered by advanced MTU engines.

The 450-foot-long, 67-foot-wide yacht has a maximum speed of 20 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 10 knots, it offers both performance and comfort.

The Flying Fox can accommodate 22 guesta dn is supported by a dedicated crew of 54.

Contrary to popular belief, Jeff Bezos doesn’t own the Flying Fox, despite being dubbed the ‘Jeff Bezos Yacht’ by the media.

This misconception arose from the fact Jeff Bezos was building a large sailing yacht of his own at that time, which has now been delivered and is named KORU.

The true owner of the Flying Fox superyacht remains a closely guarded secret, adding an air of exclusivity to the exceptional vessel.

Beyonce in Jay Z are still Crazy in Love!

And how best to celebrate still being madly in love after 7 years of marriage in the celebrity limelight? A superyacht vacation in Sardinia  with close family and friends of course!

First there was 184ft (56m) Galaxy in 2009…then there was 65m (213ft) Galactica Star in 2013 for Bey’s 32nd birthday, before a holiday on multi-award winning 267ft (81 metre) superyacht Alfa Nero (!) last year when she turned the big 3-2… But just what yacht would it be for 2015 when the couple’s combined wealth stands at a cool $1 billion+!

It seems they are a big fans of one particular yacht, as they chose motor yacht Galactica Star  once again for a romantic retreat in the Mediterranean. A yacht that is not publicly advertised for charter so maybe a favor got called in for the world’s no. 1 power couple??

Take a look inside Beyonce and Jay Z’s $70 million yacht!

They are a power couple like no other, we love them and they love each other. This couple has always showed us how much money they have and how much they love each other, by the presents they receive.

And this time is no different. It is believed that for Beyonce’s 32 nd birthday, her husband, the rapper Jay Z bought her a US$70 million superyacht. That tops the list of the expensive things Beyonce owns .

They have been photographed by the paparazzi celebrating aboard the 213-ft Galactica Star yacht.

Because it might have been a gift, this yacht is one of the best, and has given the title of the world’s largest fast displacement yacht at the time of its launch in 2013.

It was titled the largest fast displacement because it has the ability to combine low resistance with high performance and fuel efficiency throughout the full speed range.

It can almost go with 30 knots while burning 30% less fuel than a craft of the same size.

Galactica Star yacht has been built by Heesen in the Netherlands and had its interior designed by London-based firm Bannenberg & Rowell.

It is not in vain called a superyacht, because it features lots of outdoor space, including a sundeck, a duplex beach club covering 25% of the main and lower decks, and a touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck.

Because we are here talking about one of the richest couples in the world , the yacht must have come with a helipad. Plus, it also has several World Superyacht Awards.

The yacht is kitted out with everything you could need at sea, catering especially for warmer climates where the guests can relax in the sun.

Beyonce and Jay Z can take up to 12 guests with them, and accommodate them in custom-built staterooms, including a full-beam master suite with private balcony and a VIP suite on the upper deck.

Let’s not count the crew of 13 to service all the guests, and the swimming pool, sauna or on-deck Jacuzzi.

The Galactica Star, which is priced at an estimated US$70 million, is not on the books as a charter vessel, so some people say that Jay Z may have dropped big money to make it his.

No doubt he negotiated a good price, and by chartering it out when not in use he may even turn a profit.

Before Jay Z bought it, the yacht belonged to Nigerian energy business magnate Kola Aluko, but in September, he sold it to the couple.

Apparently you can also rent this yacht, if you have US$900,000/ week and must be a personal connection to Kola Aluko or someone famous.

The control room is state of the art, featuring large touch-screen displays that can be used to drive the yacht for over 4,500 nautical miles on a single tank of fuel.

At night, the ship becomes beautifully lit and is the perfect location for hosting parties.

The modern and forward-looking design includes a lot of glass, helping to keep the space airy and light.

‘Jay-Z Lives Rent Free In His Head’: Fans Question Dame Dash’s Obsession with Jay-Z After Dash Claimed the Rapper Pretended to Be Him In “Big Pimpin’” Song

Twice in recent months, Dame Dash has brought up his former artist and business partner, Jay-Z.

Most recently, the former Roc-a-Fella Records CEO dropped a bomb on the masses, claiming that the lyrical content in the 2000 song “Big Pimpin'” was about his lifestyle, not Jay-Z’s.

Dash initially addressed this claim during an interview on Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast, shouting out Future for referencing him on “Fried (She’s a Vibe).”

“The Future was talking about my past in the present. … He said, ‘Big pimpin’ like Dame Dash.’ I didn’t make that record. Just know it was about me.”

Dash doubled down on the claim in a recent May 27 episode of the “Moguls in the Making” podcast with Omari Heflin and Terone Johnson.

He reiterated that “Big Pimpin’,” the fifth and final single on Jay’s Timbaland-produced “Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter” album, was actually about his own life experiences rather than Jay-Z’s.

On the podcast, the hosts ask if the entire song was actually about him. A tipsy but still Harlem-cool Dash casually responded, “Everything Jay said, he was pretending to be me.”

Podcast host Heflin specifically asked if Jay was telling Dame’s story to which Dame replied, “Duh.” Co-host Johnson began laughing as he acknowledged “‘Reasonable Doubt’ playing in the background.”

The Harlem music executive continued, “Who is the CEO? Who is ‘Big Pimpin’? Whose doing all those things? It was me.” Dame then mentioned that the music video, “was million dollar video but it was primarily about me being drunk. I be ‘Big Pimpin,’ I was ‘Big Pimpin.'”

“Big Pimpin” is a song Jay-Z rarely discusses due to its lack of “profound lyrics.” He raps about drinking, partying and smashing the ladies with no emotional attachment. The track highlights the “pimp lifestyle” of managing multiple women and getting rid of those that “fuss.”

“Me give my heart to a woman? Not for nothin’, never happen,” says Jay-Z. “I’ll be forever mackin’ Heart cold as assassins.”

The music video filmed in Trinidad during Carnival captures Jay-Z and Texas rapper, Bun B, who was featured on the song, on a yacht with a belly of women. They can also be seen on a truck as they give money to the crowd. Another featured artist, the late Pimp C allegedly refused to travel far therefore the video’s final scenes were filmed in Miami Beach, Florida.

Dash claimed that Roc-a-Fella “was in trouble” financially at the time. Therefore if the music video didn’t pan out then the 52-year-old further would have “started rapping” himself.

Followers of Mr. DuskoPoppington should not be shocked at his recent remarks. He also previously stated that Jay-Z was not an authentic artist like someone like Kanye, but does it for the money.

The Shade Room posted an excerpt of the interview, and many of their followers chimed in.

A few people acquiesced that Dash might not be as crazy as some think, writing, “But dame had Aaliyah the baddest in the game at the time who jay have so it just might be some truth in that,” and jabbing, “And the student became the teacher… HOV a multi billionaire.”

Some just did a collective virtual sigh about what they considered as rap delusion.

“Imagine being almost 60 saying things like this and the person you trying to get the attention of never pays minds you,” one person wrote. Dash is actually 53.

Another comment read, “Jay z lives rent free in his head.”

“He sound like a scorned ex that just can’t let it go,” someone joked, as another person added, “This is what it looks like when you’re talking to yourself. Hov ain’t said his name since 2003.”

“I’m the flyest n-gga that ever came out of Harlem. Anybody that doesn’t say that they from Harlem,” was another quip.

However, Jay-Z has said his name since then. In 2021, when being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame , he said, “Shout-out to Dame. I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments, and I appreciate you and thank you for that.”

He added, “We created something that will probably never be duplicated.”

Dash and Jay-Z started working together in the 1990s as the co-managers of a group called Original Flava. Later, in 1996, they would co-found Roc-a-Fella Records with Kareem “Biggs” Burke. After their split in 2004, Jay and Dame’s feuded over the direction and future of the label, leaving Jay to part ways and become president of Def Jam.

Dame stayed at the label and accused the “Run This Town’” rapper of trying to buy him out of his ownership for $1.5 million.

Jay and Dame’s working relationship was severed decades ago over ownership of the label. Later in 2021, Jay sued his former business partner for attempting to sell the copyright to his 1996 debut album of the same title as an NFT (non-fungible token) without his permission.

In addition to Biggs, the former friends and founders of Roc-a-Fella, each own 1/3 stake in that album written and recorded by Jay-Z. The case was settled in 2022 and Dame was prohibited from following through with the alleged NFT sale and Roc was deemed the owner of “Reasonable Doubt.”

Dash was recently forced to sell his stake by a judge to substitute for his failure to pay his losing judgment against Josh Weber, the movie producer that fired him as director of his film, “Dear Frank.”

The music executive refused despite another judge ordering him to pay Weber $823,000.

That same year, Dash revealed on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” that despite being mentioned in Jay-Z’s speech, the two were in the middle of two bitter lawsuits related to the ownership rights stemming from assets connected to the label they started together.

In a separate interview, the same year, he said that he felt “betrayed” by Jay-Z , alleging that the slight was on “some slick s—t,” despite having such an influence on his success.

This is not the first time that Dash has claimed to have influenced not only Jay-Z’s musical persona, but also his career and business acumen. He points back to the time when he managed the now-billionaire and when they were partners.

“I shopped Jay-Z to every single label,” Dash recalled on the “On Gaud” podcast with Ray Daniels. “Kevin Liles, all of them. Every single one of them and they all said no. And he becomes one of the greatest rappers alive. Those are the same people that said he was too old, rapped too fast, and dressed corny.”

He said, “I learned to listen to nobody. If I listened to them, there would be no Jay-Z. He wasn’t gon’ do it. There would be no rapping Jay-Z if it wasn’t for me 100,000 percent. He wasn’t gonna do what I did to make sure he got heard. He was hustling.”

According to Dash, in the 2023 interview, the “4:44” artist never wanted to “put a record out by himself” nor “create a record company.”

“He could rap but he didn’t know business. I taught him business,” Dash boasted. “How to put a record out yourself. How to leverage your celebrity and put it on a product yourself.”

Jay-Z himself has since put some distance from “Big Pimpin’,” saying the track lacked the profundity found in his other work.

“Some lyrics become really profound when you see them in writing,” he said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in 2010, where he talked about the difference between freestyling in the booth and reading what he said on paper.

“’Not ‘Big Pimpin’. That’s the exception. It was like, ‘I can’t believe I said that. And kept saying it. What kind of animal would say stuff like that?’ Reading it is really hard.”

Despite bragging that Jay-Z mimicked his life to make the song appeal to the hustlers and big ballers who marveled and aspired to the gluttonous and chauvinistic lifestyle shown in the video, Dash previously expressed a sense of regret, particularly about his behavior in the music video.

In a 2017 TMZ video, Dash admitted feeling “embarrassed” about how he disrespected women back in the day — noting that back then he “got a positive response from it.”

“I look at the things like ‘Big Pimpin’ and I’m embarrassed at it. I would never want my daughter to have to go through that and if I ever saw my son Boogie doing that, we would have some serious issues,” he said .

He added that what changed for him was becoming a father to young Black women, saying he then understood never to do anything that he would not want done to them.

When the US targeted Russia’s oligarchs after the invasion of Ukraine, the trail of assets kept leading to our own backyard. Not only had our nation become a haven for shady foreign money, but we were also incubating a familiar class of yacht-owning, industry-dominating, resource-extracting billionaires. In the  January + February 2024  issue of our magazine, we investigate the rise of American Oligarchy—and what it means for the rest of us. You can read all the pieces  here .

The luxury yacht may be the world’s most exclusive form of transportation. But there are only a hundred-some that meet the definition of a gigayacht—a pleasure craft 295 feet or longer. Their opaque ownership records offer a glimpse of modern wealth and power: Over two dozen are linked to Gulf royals, businessmen, or states, and 20 to citizens (past or current) of the former Soviet Union. At least 23 have reportedly belonged to Americans, including founders of Microsoft, Netscape, Amazon, WhatsApp, and Snapchat. The widow of a German retailer who thrived under Hitler owned one; a UK tax exile and a Formula 1 dad still do. Yugoslav strongman Tito’s old yacht makes the list; Dominican dictator Trujillo’s does too. Take a cruise through the history of the vessels and their—somewhat—more modest sister ships.

1895: Nineteen years before World War I, the future King Edward VII of England punches his nephew, Kaiser Wilhelm II, in the face, after the German’s 121-foot yacht, Meteor II , defeats the royal Britannia in a race off the Isle of Wight.

1954: Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis ushers in an era of postwar one-upmanship with his 325-foot Christina O . It features a pool that converts into a dance floor, furniture made from whale foreskin, and pornographic carvings.

1963: During his final birthday party aboard the presidential yacht Sequoia , JFK chases future Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee’s wife, Antoinette, into the bathroom and gropes her. “I guess I was pretty surprised, but I was kind of flattered, and appalled, too,” she says later. The ship’s visitor logs are destroyed after Kennedy’s assassination.

1984: King Fahd of Saudi Arabia builds the record-breaking 482-foot Prince Abdulaziz .

1987: Sen. Gary Hart (D-Colo.) drops out of the presidential race just before photos emerge of him with model Donna Rice aboard the yacht Monkey Business .

1988: Donald Trump acquires Nabila , which previously belonged to the Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi and was featured in the James Bond film Never Say Never Again . He renames it Trump Princess , adds a disco, and changes the helipad’s “H” to a “T.”

1991: After one of Trump’s casinos files for bankruptcy, he sells Trump Princess to his bank—which flips it to a Saudi prince. A new yacht, the Trump Princess II , which he boasted would be “something in excess of 400 feet long, closer to 500 feet,” is never built.

British publisher Robert Maxwell’s body is found in the Atlantic Ocean, where he had been cruising on a 180-footer named for his daughter—the Lady Ghislaine . The vessel is eventually resold to Anna Murdoch, Rupert’s second wife.

1994: At a cocktail party on the oligarch Petr Aven’s yacht in the Caribbean, Boris Berezovsky meets Roman Abramovich, calling him a “nice boy who wanted to discuss commercial projects.” He and Abramovich begin working together to acquire Sibneft, a Russian state oil company.

1997: Construction ends on The Limited and Victoria’s Secret owner Les Wexner’s ­316-foot Limitless . The project was overseen by his good friend Jeffrey Epstein.

1999: Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison buys the 191-foot Izanami from a Japanese seller. He changes the name to Ronin , he said later , after “the local newspapers started pointing out that Izanami was ‘I’m a Nazi’ spelled backwards.”

2001: Months before Enron files for bankruptcy, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling asks a company executive for advice on finding a yacht broker. “This industry is known for crooks and thieves,” he warns Skilling.

2002: House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Texas) promises to strip “corporate kingpins of their ill-gotten gains,” after scandals rock Enron and WorldCom. “We’re coming after the yacht.”

2003: DeLay charges donors $500,000 a pop for tickets to a yacht cruise.

2005: Ellison shoots down rumors he issued orders midconstruction to have his newest yacht, the 454-foot Rising Sun , extended to outdo Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s recently launched 414-foot Octopus .

Rep. Duke Cunningham (R-Calif.) pleads guilty to federal bribery charges after being caught living rent-free on a yacht, called the Duke-Stir , that was moored in Washington, DC, and owned by a defense contractor.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s 531-foot Dubai surpasses Prince Abdulaziz as the world’s longest yacht.

2006: Media mogul Barry Diller reveals the world’s longest sailing yacht, the 305-foot Eos , whose prow features a 9-foot-tall sculpture of his wife, Diane von Furstenberg.

2007: Diller opens a Manhattan corporate headquarters­­ at a Frank Gehry­–designed building that itself has been likened to a sailboat . It’s across the street from where Eos ties up.

2008: George Osborne, the No. 2 official in the UK’s Conservative Party, relaxes on Russian aluminum magnate Oleg Deripaska’s yacht while vacationing with his family in Greece. He denies an accusation that he solicited funds, explaining in a statement that they discussed “Russian history” and drank tea.

2009: As his marriage falls apart, Tiger Woods retreats to a 155-foot yacht called Privacy .

2010: Abramovich’s new ship, Eclipse , surpasses Dubai as the world’s longest yacht. The 533-foot vessel features a submarine, anti-missile systems, and lasers to thwart paparazzi .

2011: During an unsuccessful suit seeking $5 billion he believed Abramovich owed him from the sale of Sibneft, an exiled Berezovsky claims that his former partner helped purchase the yacht Olympia for Vladimir Putin. When the BBC publishes a supporting account from another Russian businessman five years later, Abramovich’s lawyers dismiss the allegation as “a rehash of speculation and rumours.”

2012: As GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney faces criticism for holding investment funds in the Cayman Islands, his campaign invites donors to party on Cracker Bay . The ship, owned by the founder of The Villages retirement community, flies the Cayman Islands’ flag.

2013: UAE leader Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan launches the 593-foot Azzam , surpassing the Eclipse .

2014: The Wall Street Journal reports that Ellison has basketball hoops on “at least two of his yachts” and had someone follow in a smaller boat “to retrieve balls that go overboard.”

2016: Allen’s Tatoosh drags its anchor through a protected zone in the Cayman Islands, destroying 14,000 square feet of coral.

2017: After leaving office, Barack and Michelle Obama retreat to the South Pacific aboard David Geffen’s yacht, where they’re joined by Oprah, Tom Hanks, and Bruce Springsteen.

Abramovich’s business partner, Eugene Shvidler, blocks views of the Statue of Liberty while anchoring his 370-foot Le Grand Bleu in New York Harbor for a month.

Addressing the national Boy Scout Jamboree, Trump tells an anecdote widely assumed to allude to sex parties on a yacht belonging to the developer of the Levittown suburbs. “You’re Boy Scouts, so I’m not going to tell you what he did,” he said. “But you know life.”

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) buys a yacht and on the same day votes to cut taxes on yachts.

Businessman Jho Low, who financed The Wolf of Wall Street , is accused of taking part in a $4.5 billion scheme to siphon Malaysian state development funds and using some to purchase a $250 million yacht.

During a bitter divorce, the Daily Mail reports that Tatiana Akhmedova, wife of the Russian Azerbaijani billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov, hired a team of British special forces veterans to seize his yacht, Luna , in an effort to enforce a Marshall Islands court ruling. They settle instead, and he keeps the boat.

Port Azure , dubbed the world’s first harbor designed exclusively for megayachts, opens in Gocek, Turkey. It bills itself as a place where “problems big and small go away.”

The music industry is on the verge of putting out a missing-person report for Beyoncé , Page Six hears.

With her once-blazing country album, “Cowboy Carter,” already going the way of the tumblin’ tumbleweed, biz vets say the superstar has inexplicably gone AWOL.

And insiders are muttering that it might be because she and husband Jay-Z are nervous about showing their faces during Diddy’s vast abuse scandal , lest they draw attention to their longtime friendship with the disgraced hip-hop mogul.

“This was supposed to be Beyoncé’s time, with her much-anticipated country album out [just] two months ago. And yet, she is nowhere to be seen. The album is slipping and Jay and B aren’t reveling in the spotlight,” said a shocked source.

“About a month before the [March 29] release, Jay-Z got up at the Grammys  and whined that Beyoncé had never won Album of the Year. But now what? Does he think she will win . . . for ‘Cowboy Carter’ with no promotion . . . no appearances and no wooing of the academy?”

The source added that while the stunning record — which includes tracks with Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Miley Cyrus — is far from a flop, “it’s definitely not the juggernaut everyone thought it would be.”

They added, “Something is going on. It came out with a bang. No. 1 everywhere. [Now] it and she have disappeared.”

There has been scuttlebutt in the biz that the golden couple of music are laying low with their pal Diddy under fire — his homes in LA and Miami were raided in March by the Department of Homeland Security in what appears to be a sex-trafficking investigation.

The “Blueprint” rapper and Diddy have been close for decades, though there is nothing to connect Jay or Beyoncé to the investigation or any misconduct.

Reps for Beyoncé didn’t get back to us.

Taking a well-deserved break from their music tour, Beyonce and Jay-Z chose to charter the 95m/312ft luxury yacht KISMET for an incredible  Mediterranean vacation with their three children. Giving fans a glimpse into her luxurious life, Beyonce published photos of her private yacht charter aboard KISMET , an award-winning motor yacht built by Lurssen . The yacht played the perfect host, offering her guests the peace and the privacy to enjoy the tranquil ocean and stunning coastline out of reach of the public eye.

It's clear from the photos that the luxurious spaces and facilities on board a superyacht offer an exceptional platform on which to spend quality time with loved ones and press pause on a hectic schedule.

Beyonce and the family explored the beautiful, untouched  Capri coastline in Italy  on board KISMET.  In between admiring the scenery, the star shared several pictures of herself and her daughter in the superyacht's multi-level pool, which sits on the sundeck and is accompanied by a Jacuzzi.

Unparalleled views over the ocean are available from this vantage point and many of Beyonce’s pictures are of the shore as seen from on board the  motor yacht . Other pictures show Beyonce basking in the sun with her family, out of sight of paparazzi and blissfully relaxed.

Beyonce and her eldest daughter Blue Ivy did just that, finding themselves a quiet spot on the aft deck to meditate and breathe in the fresh air.

In another picture, Blue continues to meditate from the comfort of a hanging chair that overlooks the sea. In the daytime, this chair would be a coveted place to sit quietly and enjoy uninterrupted serenity.

KISMET is a desirable choice for the A-list celebrities, as she is renowned for her wide range of amenities that suit the needs of all of her guests, whether they prefer to party or simply unwind and savour time away from home.

She boasts a sumptuous cinema room, a well-equipped gym and a Turkish-style spa that oozes with indulgence. Her second helipad can be used as a basketball court.

LED-screen walls line the main stairwell, which is furnished in ornate gold. The screens are connected to cameras fitted on the outside of the yacht, so a floor-to-ceiling panoramic view over the ocean can be enjoyed from the comfort of inside.

At the foot of the stairwell, a contemporary grand piano with a golden body and marble-topped surface stands proudly. The solid marble embellishments extend into several of the cabin ensuites and the spa.

Jay-Z’s Sapphire-Studded Patek Philippe Might Be His Most Elegant Watch Yet

In the world of watchmaking, the “grand complication”—a timepiece containing several complications such as a chronograph, perpetual calendar , minute repeater, or more—reigns supreme. The epitome of haute horlogerie , these exquisitely sophisticated watches are powered by movements containing hundreds upon hundreds of parts, making them more akin to miniature mechanical computers than conventional time-telling devices.

Jay-Z , one of the world’s most renowned collectors, owns several such pieces—especially ones from Patek Philippe , whose oeuvre contains a dedicated sub-collection of g “Grand complications. Spotted recently at the UEFA Champions League final, Hov rocked what is arguably one of the most drool-worthy such timepieces in the form of the ref. 5271/11P, a manually-wound perpetual calendar-chronograph set with over five carats of baguette-cut sapphires.

This particular combination of complications—the perpetual calendar with a chronograph—is a speciality of Patek’s, which launched the ref. 1518 in 1941. Since then, the maison has continued to innovate in this area, releasing watches that have taken on the aspect of horological lore: The reference 2499 , for example, is considered by many collectors to be one of the finest, most beautiful references ever designed.

The 5271, meanwhile, is a contemporary extension of the 1518’s legacy. Housed in a 41mm platinum case, it measures just 12.7mm tall despite its incredibly complicated Caliber CH 29‑535 PS Q movement. Its lacquered blue with black-gradient rim, which features attractive white gold applied hour markers, provides a wealth of information to the wearer: In addition to the time, there’s a dual-register chronograph with a 30-minute counter; day and month windows; a moon phase display combined with a date indicator; a leap year indicator; and a day/night indicator. If wound daily, the watch will remain accurate until February 28, 2100, at which point it will require manual correction to account for a secular year that omits that month’s 29th day.

The standout feature of the ref. 5271/11P, however, is actually in the case itself: Set within its bezel and lugs—and within the fold-over clasp of its black, hand-stitched alligator leather strap—is a total of 80 baguette-cut sapphires totaling 5.16 carats. (The watch is also available with rubies or diamonds in place of the sapphires.) Striking and unique, the addition of precious stones takes the price of such a watch into the stratosphere, where it retails for (an oddly specific) $351,150.

Believe it or not, there are actually even more complicated watches than this in Jay-Z’s collection: The Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300G contains so many complications that it requires two dials in order to display them all. That being said, the 5271—as an elegant evolution of a watch that debuted, unbelievably, during the throes of a world war—is arguably the more compelling of the two. (To be fair, both are fun watches to see worn casually in the wild, rather than kept behind glass like museum pieces, as their complication and price might otherwise warrant.)

Patrick Mahomes’s Rolex Yacht-Master II

Kansas City Chiefs QB Mahomes joined several of his teammates at the White House to meet with President Joe Biden in celebration of the team’s latest Super Bowl win this week. On the noted collector’s wrist? A Rolex Yacht-Master II—a watch that was discontinued by the Crown this year. Measuring 44mm in the brand’s Oystersteel, it’s actually a fairly unique yachting chronograph: The bezel contains the patented Ring Command system, which is used to “program” the watch’s countdown feature to between one and 10 minutes. Entirely mechanically powered, this system was unique in the Rolex catalog , but must now, unfortunately, be sought out on the secondary market.

Mark Wahlberg’s Patek Philippe Grand Complication ref. 5374/300P

There must be something in the air this week: Wahlberg , like Jay-Z, also stepped out in one of Patek’s grand complication watches—albeit one set with 228 baguette-cut diamonds and 13 baguette-cut sapphires, making for over 12 carats of precious stones. Powered by an automatic movement, the Caliber R 27 Q, it combines a minute repeater with a perpetual calendar. Housed in a 42mm platinum case with a lacquered blue dial featuring sapphire and diamond hour markers, it retails for close to $1.2 million.

Andy Garcia’s Modified Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655

Now here’s a watch you don’t see every day—primarily because it doesn’t exactly exist. Veteran American actor Andy Garcia was spotted courtside at a Lakers game in a mysterious Rolex Explorer II ref. 1655 in which the fixed steel bezel has been replaced with a rotating bezel from a GMT-Master ref 1675. (It would appear that this watch was gifted to him by Japanese actor Ken Takakura, with whom Garcia starred in 1989’s Black Rain .) On a ref. 1655, the movement and fixed bezel only allow for the tracking of day/nighttime hours, but replacing the fixed bezel with a rotating one allows the wearer to track a second time zone.

Dwyane Wade’s Cartier Tank Louis Cartier

NBA great Dwyane Wade attended a dinner on Rodeo Drive celebrating the opening of a new Michael Kors location this week. He chose a most excellent dress watch for the occasion, rocking a Tank Louis Cartier in red lacquer. Introduced at Watches & Wonders 2022, this configuration sees the beloved model set in a classic yellow gold case with a blue cabochon crown and powered by the manually wound 1917 MC movement. The dial, which reduces the Tank’s 12 typical Roman numerals down to four, is a spectacular riff on a hundred-year-old design that continues to capture the imagination of collectors everywhere. (Unfortunately, this configuration is no longer in Cartier’s catalog—though it has been replaced by two other gorgeous gold editions .)

Roger Federer just served up one of Rolex’s coolest sports watches

When it comes to flexing rare Rolex watches, few have a more consistent game than Roger Federer . Earlier this week, at the premiere of his new documentary Federer: Twelve Final Days , the tennis icon strapped on a Yacht-Master II ref. 226627 – a watch so lightweight that I feared, upon first handling it in Geneva last year, that I might crush it, thus owing Rolex corporate headquarters a check for $14,050 (plus tax).

The ref. 226627 was not Rolex’s first titanium watch – that distinction belongs to the 50mm-wise Deepsea Challenge , which was seemingly designed for James Cameron to wear while plumbing the depths of the Atlantic for sunken ocean liners. The Yacht-Master II, on the other hand, is arguably more exciting: Measuring a more comfortable 42mm wide, it was first spotted on the wrist of legendary British sailor Sir Ben Ainslie back in the fall of 2021. No longer a prototype and now a full production model, it’s crafted from Grade 5 RLX titanium and is available for purchase. ( Theoretically, at least. )

What makes this Submariner-esque watch different from a Submariner ? The two are admittedly similar in design, with a few key differences: There’s the RXL titanium case, of course, but then there’s also the 42mm sizing (as opposed to 41mm on the Sub); a bidirectional timing bezel with a sand-blasted Cerachrom insert (instead of the Sub’s unidirectional dive bezel); the date window (which is only seen on Submariner Date models); and the matching, RLX titanium Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock folding clasp and Easylink comfort extension. (The Sub doesn’t have an available titanium bracelet.)

Other than that, both the Submariner Date and the Yacht-Master II are powered by Rolex’s automatic Calibre 3235 movement with 70 hours of power reserve, and both are made for aquatic use. The Sub, however, is a diver’s watch rated to 300m of water resistance; the Yacht-Master II, on the other hand, is made for sailing and is water resistant to 100m – still respectable, to be sure, but best kept to the deck of a cutting-edge racing craft.

Seeing the Yacht-Master II on Roger Federer’s wrist is more fun than notable—it looks perfectly at home when paired with his dark suit at the photocall, though it's a distinctly sporty piece made to be used and abused. Being a Rolex testimonee, of course, Federer has been spotted in just about every notable Crown offering over the past few years, from the Le Mans Daytona to the Sky-Dweller in precious metals and more. (The man pulls off a dressy 1908 with black tie beautifully, but let’s be real—this is a brand famed for its sport watches, and we’re talking about one of the world’s most renowned athletes.)

Having cycled through many of the brand’s most compelling offerings, the only remaining pertinent question is: How do we get Fed into a “Leopard” Daytona ?
