Sunken but not stirred.
Footage captured the calamitous moment that a massive superyacht named “007” sank — with five passengers inside — in Greece
The maritime disaster occurred Friday night after the 160-foot vessel, which reportedly sails under a British flag but is owned by a Swiss businessman, experienced a GPS malfunction off Kythos Island, SWNS reported. This reportedly prompted the captain to bring it closer to shore than was advisable.
As a result, the James Bond-themed luxury boat hit the rocks, and began taking on water with five passengers inside.
“In trying not to be sunk, he sailed closer to shore, in less than 10 meters depth — and that’s how the ship got to that position,” explained a boat owner who witnessed the catastrophe.
Accompanying footage, uploaded to YouTube, shows the swanky vessel, which sports a helipad, lying half-sunken on its side around 50 feet from the nearby Kolona Beach.
Thankfully, all five passengers were rescued and transported to safety before the “007” sank. “No people were hurt,” described the aforementioned eyewitness. “The coastguard was immediately aware and sent help in the night.”
Rescuers also erected an anti-pollution perimeter in the area, although there was reportedly “no diesel leakage or damage to the scenery,” the bystander said.
Local authorities will launch a probe into the sinking of the “007,” which was delivered in 2006 by the Bodrum-based shipyard Aegean Yacht, but whose owner remains unknown.
Along with a helipad, the superyacht reportedly boasts five cabins, including a master suite, and can reportedly sleep ten people.
This isn’t the first time a luxury vessel has visited Davy Jones’ locker of late. Last month, heart-pounding footage emerged of a 130-foot superyacht capsizing and sinking stern-first into the water off the Italian coast.
In February, a Ukrainian man was arrested for partially sinking his Russian tycoon boss’s $7.7 million luxury super yacht in Spain in protest over the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Dramatic footage has captured the moment a 40-metre superyacht sank into the Mediterranean sea after being battered in a storm.
The 40-metre-long luxury vessel was sailing from Gallipoli to Milazzo overnight on Saturday when it got into trouble around 15km from Italy’s Catanzaro Marina.
Footage shows the yacht, named My Saga, rapidly disappearing beneath waves, as lifeboats appear to float beside it.
The captain sent out a distress call to the Port Authority of Crotone, with officials told the yacht was taking on a significant amount of water from the stern.
The Italian coastguard dispatched two patrol vessels and rescued all four passengers and five crew members on board.
A tugboat sent out at dawn was unable to save the superyacht from sinking because of worsening weather conditions, the Super Yacht Times reports. The Saga finally sank at around 1pm on Sunday.
The outlet reports the yacht, which was built in Monaco back in 2007, was flying under the Cayman Islands flag with an all-Italian crew when it sunk.
An investigation has been launched into the cause.
It comes after a £6 million superyacht sunk after it went up in flames in the UK on the Torquay harbourside.
The 85ft vessel was consumed by fire , with thick black smoking billowing into the sky.

The yacht reportedly drifted out into the harbour after the fire burnt through ropes securing it to the pier, but the vessel was later secured by the fire service.
A fire service statement revealed that the vessel contained approximately 8000 litres of diesel fuel.

The horrifying footage shows how the boat slipped beneath the waves.
It came into difficultly around 15km (nine miles) off the coast of Catanzaro, on its way from Gallipoli to Milazzo.

Video captures 130-foot superyacht sinking off southern coast of Italy
A superyacht sank off the southern coast of Italy over the weekend of Aug. 20 in a spectacular capsizing captured on video and shared on Twitter by the Italian coast guard.
The video compilation shows the My Saga , a roughly 130-foot boat, struggling against the waves before slowly sinking into the water.
The yacht was sailing from the town of Gallipoli to Milazzo, Sicily, on Aug. 20, local news outlets reported, when it began to take on water and eventually sank some hours later about nine nautical miles off the port of Catanzaro.
All crew members and passengers were rescued and uninjured, the coast guard said on Twitter. It said it launched an investigation to determine what happened.

The My Saga first reported a problem on Aug. 20 after setting sail from Gallipoli , on Italy’s southeastern peninsula, according to the country’s National Associated Press Agency (ANSA). Patrol boats from the Italian coast guard in Crotone and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) were dispatched to the scene.
They found the ship taking on water from its stern. Five people — four passengers and a member of the crew — were initially rescued on a Romanian patrol boat acting on behalf of Frontex. They were then transferred to the coast guard boat and taken to Catanzaro.
According to an Italian official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss details of an ongoing investigation, the My Saga flew a Cayman Islands flag and was owned by a Danish company. The group on board when the boat took on water included six Italian nationals, two Danish citizens and a South African national, the person said.

The owner contracted a towing company to attempt to rescue the ship, according to the official. A tugboat, the Alessandro Second, arrived and took the four remaining crew members — including the captain — onboard before beginning to tow the ship toward Crotone. But bad weather made the process difficult, as did the position of the yacht, which was tilted into the water.
Eventually, the tugboat abandoned the yacht, and it sank into the Gulf of Squillace. The coast guard took the remaining crew members to Catanzaro.
It’s not the first time a sinking yacht has captured attention on the internet. In May, rapper Cardi B posted footage on social media of a yacht sinking near her hotel while she was on vacation in an unknown location. The artist could be heard screaming as she asked whether there wasn’t a “big boat that could save it.” Eventually, she said “bye-bye” as it disappeared into the water. She later clarified that no one was onboard .

The same month, passersby watched as another multimillion-dollar yacht, the Rendezvous, sank in Torquay Harbor, a marina in southwestern England, after a fire broke out onboard. Authorities warned of potential air and water pollution because the yacht carried about nine metric tons of diesel.
And earlier this month, the 145-foot Aria SF caught fire off the Balearic island of Formentera in Spain in an incident that was also captured on camera and shared widely on social media. Those onboard were evacuated, and no one was hurt, the Guardian reported . The roughly $23 million yacht had reportedly just been delivered to its owner.

Watch This 130-Foot Megayacht Sink Off the Coast of Italy
Nine people were on board when "my saga" sank due to deteriorating weather conditions..
They say money can’t buy happiness, but what it can buy is a 130-foot megayacht. You just have to hope it doesn’t sink off the coast of Italy. That would be unfortunate for the terrible person who owns that boat. They probably wouldn’t be happy anymore.

However, the rest of us would be, because if that 130-foot megayacht did sink off of the coast of Italy, it would probably be caught on camera for all of us to enjoy. Luckily for us , that very thing happened.
Ins ider reports that the 130-foot ship, christened “My Saga,” sank nine miles off the coast of Catanzaro Marina in Italy. It was sailing under a Cayman Islands flag. Nine people on board had to be rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. It was, of course, all caught on video.
Worsening weather conditions made it impossible for a tug-boat to rescue the doomed ship, according to Sky News . Now, an investigation is underway as to what exactly went down (other than the ship).
Insider says the yacht was built in Italy in 2007. It was traveling from Gallipoli to Milazzo with a completely-Italian crew when it sank to the bottom of the sea.
Right now, there’s no word on if there were any injuries to the people on board on who they were. Of the nine people on board, it is unclear if they were all crew or if the ship’s owner was also present. Either way, it’s a good thing they all got out safe, otherwise I’d feel bad.
Sure, it may not seem cool to laugh at someone else’s misfortune, but consider this: everyone lived, and the person who owns it is probably rich enough to also buy a small country. They’ll be just fine, if you ask me.

Dramatic Rescue Off Lauderdale After Mega-Yacht Sinks
January 26, 2016 / 6:25 PM EST / CBS Miami
Follow CBSMIAMI.COM: Facebook | Twitter
FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - More than a dozen people were rescued after a mega-yacht went down off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale.
The 106 foot Serena III was about 13 miles off shore when a distress signal was sent out that the vessel was taking on water.
"Mayday, mayday, mayday mayday mayday. This is yacht Serena 3, this is yacht Serena 3. We are sinking, we are sinking, we are sinking."
Sea Tow Captain Tim Morgan said less than two hours later the yacht was gone.
"It just gradually took on more and more water and then it went down by the stern and rolled then. Then it went under the waves," said Morgan.
The Coast Guard said the six passengers, six crew members and captain who were onboard the yacht pulled to safety.
"We were able to safely remove the 13 people onboard, no injuries, no medical concerns," said Coast Guard Lt. Tasha Sadowicz.
Sadowicz added they got some help from some nearby fishing boats.
"It was a really hectic situation," said a Coast Guard Jon-Paul Rios. "We had choppy seas, high winds, it wasn't the most favorable weather but at the same time we have some of the most efficient crews when it comes to search and rescue, so they were able to do it successfully."
Those rescued were taken to Coast Guard's Miami Beach station to be checked out.
Morgan and three Sea Tow boats managed to pluck a wave runner from the yacht as well as a life raft that was deployed off to rescue people onboard.
Morgan said in the dark with the water rushing into the yacht, it was impossible to save.
"The amount of water it was taking and how quickly the boat sank, really, I don't think much anybody would have been able to do," Morgan said.
The Serena III was on its way to Freeport, Bahamas on a month long trip when she went down.
"We were going to the Bahamas to enjoy ourselves. It's a pity because I was looking forward to doing this one," said the yacht's first officer Perry Thomas.
Thomas said the six passengers were a family from Rio de Janeiro. He said around 6 p.m. they noticed they were in trouble.
"We noticed we were tilting toward the left and the captain went down to check it he came up and said we were taking on water," said Perry. "It happened pretty quickly. She started tilting, we got the owners in the first life raft."
Video from the Coast Guard shows the final ten minutes or so as the yacht tilted, bow up and then sunk.
"We had 8 pumps ready to deploy. I even think if we got those going it wouldn't have mattered," said Morgan.
The Coast Guard's preliminary investigation is focusing on whether the yacht may struck the bottom as it left Port Everglades.
"There may have been a possible grounding on the way out of Port Everglades and it wasn't noticed until they were further offshore," said Sadowicz
Investigators are checking to see if a shaft that attaches from inside the boat to a stabilizer on the bottom may have fallen out.
"If that had actually dropped out through the hull, that's going to leave a hole, 6 to 8 inches. and start flooding," said Morgan.
The yacht sank in water which is approximately 1,200 feet deep. It will be up to the yacht's owner as to whether they will attempt to salvage the wreckage.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.
Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.
Belfry and Neighbouring Churches
Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.
To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.
Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.
Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.
Tsaritsa's Chambers
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.
At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.
Palace of Tsar Alexis
The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

PHOTOS: $1 million, 80-foot luxury sport yacht sinks off Florida coast, 2 rescued
Video above: 2 men rescued by Coast Guard after watercraft ‘ran aground’
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WNCN) — Two people were rescued just before a million-dollar luxury 80-foot sport yacht sank off the coast of Florida Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The incident was reported just after 11:35 a.m. about 3 miles off St. Augustine Beach, Florida, a news release from the Coast Guard said.
The operator of the Atlantis, an 80-foot sport yacht, said their vessel struck an object in the water and was sinking, officials said.
Coast Guard Station Mayport sent a boat crew to assist. The Coast Guard also coordinated with St. John’s County Fire and Rescue, which soon arrived and plucked both people from the yacht with no injuries.
The Atlantis yacht appears to be a 1999 or early 2000s model of the Sunseeker Predator 80. A larger Sunseeker Predator – with the very unique appearance — was featured in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.
A 2001 Predator that is 5 feet shorter than Atlantis, which sank Saturday, is listed for sale for $975,000.
Sunseeker Predator 80 yacht, built in the United Kingdom, can accommodate up to 6 guests in 4 staterooms, with 2 crew members aboard.
Atlantis has two Caterpillar diesel engines and can reach a top speed of 44 kn or 50 mph, according to data from Boat International.
A data sheet about Atlantis says the vessel is in the top 5 percent by speed in the world.
After Saturday’s rescue, a hazard to navigation was broadcast to alert mariners of the yacht, which could cause damage to other vessels, according to the Coast Guard.
The owner of the Atlantis will arrange for a salvage of the vessel, the Coast Guard said.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Inside the Legal Battle to Recut Trump Movie ‘The Apprentice’: Why Billionaire Investor Dan Snyder Is Furious With Ex-President’s Portrayal (EXCLUSIVE)

On Monday night, all eyes in Cannes will be on the launch of “ The Apprentice ,” the high-profile drama that stars Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump . The filmmakers and stars haven’t done any press on the ground at Cannes ahead of the film’s world premiere, and few have seen it, with plot details shrouded in mystery.
But one person who has seen it is Dan Snyder, the billionaire former owner of the Washington Commanders who is an investor in “The Apprentice.” And he isn’t happy.
Popular on Variety
Snyder’s attorneys John Brownlee and Stuart Nash, partners at Florida-based firm Holland & Knight, did not respond to a request for comment. A representative for the filmmakers declined comment.
Snyder isn’t the only investor in “The Apprentice.” Justin Trudeau’s Canadian government also put in money, as did the Irish and Danish governments. Kinematics doesn’t own the copyright on the Ali Abbasi-directed film and cannot kill it. (Abbasi is represented by CAA, which was aware of the legal back and forth over the film. The agency and Abbasi declined comment.)
Heading into Cannes, there was intense interest from potential buyers for the film, which is seeking U.S. distribution ahead of the election in November. International sales outfit Rocket Science is shopping the title at the Marche alongside CAA and WME. Complicating matters, Snyder’s Kinematics has a voice in sales negotiations.
The filmmakers have intentionally eschewed any press, wanting the movie to speak for itself. After all, they’ve endured a long haul to the finish line. In fact, it took seven years for “The Apprentice” to make it to the big screen. One financier dropped out after the events of Jan. 6, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol following his defeat in the 2020 presidential election. Another opted not to get involved after Ivana Trump’s death.
Despite its title, “The Apprentice” doesn’t chronicle Trump’s years as the star of the hit NBC reality show that catapulted him into the Oval Office. The logline provided to press calls the film “a story about the origins of a system … featuring larger-than-life characters and set in a world of power and ambition.” It adds, “The film delves into a profound exploration of the ascent of an American dynasty. It meticulously charts the genesis of a ‘zero-sum’ culture, one that accentuates the dichotomy between winners and losers, the dynamics between the mighty and the vulnerable, and the intricate psychology of persona.”
It is unclear if Snyder, who is a fixture at the festival where he socializes with other billionaires on his yacht, plans to attend tonight’s premiere alongside the Kinematics team, who will be on hand. He is no stranger to controversy. For years, he ignored calls to change the name of his NFL team, formerly called the Redskins, a term that was offensive to Native Americans. “We’ll never change the name. It’s that simple. NEVER—you can use caps,” he told USA Today in 2013. After initially refusing to meet with Native American advocates about a name change, he relented in 2020, and the team was eventually rebranded the Washington Commanders.
One thing is for certain, the post-premiere celebrations for “The Apprentice” will be decidedly awkward.
The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.
