Great day on the water, friendly attentive staff & nice Capt. Dan, highly recommended

We live here in Low Country and had visitors from out of town. We thought that a sailboat adventure would be a great daytime ( 2-hour) diversion for all of us. The boat is pretty nice and the crew and captain are more than accommodating and helpful. We set off on a nice light breeze perfect for sailing. Our complaint is simple. WE NEVER LEFT THE HARBOR. We just tacked back and forth in the middle of the harbor. We never got past Pickney Island. The final 30 minutes were spent on a slow motorized crawl back to the docks. We never lost sight of the Aquarium. There never seemed to be an attempt to head out of the harbor. When we asked we were given some bullsh*t about winds not permitting a course out of the harbor. Are you kidding? It's not that technical a job to head out of the harbor!!! If you are hoping to get out to the open ocean, don't book.

Photo of Natalie B.

This was a last minute decision and I'm glad we did it! The sailboat was large and reasonably comfortable. We had a lovely date for sailing and the crew was really personable. 2 hours did seem a little much as there's no narration and we saw little to no wildlife (just a pelican which was pretty dang cool). I understand that seeing dolphins and such is never a guarantee so we were a little sad but overall enjoyed the experience.

schooner pride sailboat

Did see dolphins on the dolphin cruise and crew was friendly however do think $8.00 for two waters was a bit high. Any other tour on a blazing hot day in a boat water has always been offered free and think many people were taken by surprise they were charged $4 a bottle. I wish it was made clearer that water was chargeable with all other drinks offered ( I do agree there should be a charge for all other drinks especially adult beverages but the water or have a list with costs before you offer water or tell people they will be charged when it's presented like it's complementary. They answer all your questions but don't point anything out unless you ask.. but was still a nice time but again for kids might be more fun to be on something more interactive .

Overall was ok, safe and nice crew. I especially liked Erin's kindness and her performance to raise the sail up. The one thing that kept in my mind is that the captain seems like not wanting to small talk Asians. I clearly saw him talking here and there a lot of passengers, even grabbed someone who was looking at somewhere else. I was expecting him to talk to us with smiling but when he saw we're Asians, he just passed us and grabbed the next people. I still remember how he was.

Captain Andrew and his mates, Dan & Erin, went above and beyond to make sure all guests had a memorable and pleasant sailing trip on the PRIDE today. Friendly and skilled crew provided a relaxing sail, even in high wind. Highly recommend!

Photo of Eric R.

We booked the 10:30 am dolphin sight seeing harbor cruise. It advertises that you sail past several Sights such as Ft Sumter, Ravenel Bridge, and etc. We were excited to see these sites from the water as we didn't have time to see them individually. The day we went there was NO wind. Instead of canceling or refunding they kept it as scheduled. The boat has a diesel motor so we motored out to the middle of the harbor, put up The sails and they sat there limp. We literally just sat there in the sun not going anywhere. I could here the baptism and crew talking about not being able to do any sailing. They were praying dolphins would show up and save the day; they didn't. We fondly motored for sbout 2 minutes to a different spot and again just sat there baking in the sun. Finally they head back to the dock after sn hour. We tipped the deck mates (wasn't their fault) and then called the tour company to inquire about a refund. Kathy said she would have a supervisor call me; he didn't. I finally called back and asked about a refund and Kathy said uhh that ain't going to happen. This cruise is a joke. Don't waste your money.

Fabulous time aboard the Schooner Pride! The crew was amazing! Erin and Jackson were knowledgeable and polite. The captain was very nice and eager to share her sailing knowledge. The day was hot but the breeze really kept things comfortable. We saw many dolphins and one actually jumped into the air! Throughly a wonderfully memorable time in Charleston! Highly recommend.

Photo of Jennifer W.

This is such a hidden surprise! After years of visiting Charleston we were looking for something different. This was such a fun way to enjoy the Harbor. The dock is a little out of the way but we took a bike taxi to help save some time. So worth it! Our captain Sarah and her crew were friendly and knowledgeable. It was a great afternoon on the water.

DESCRIPTION

Why you should go.

Notice: This tour does not operate for the months of December – February. Available for booking starting in March.

Experience the wonder of sailing Charleston Harbor on a classic 84 foot tall ship. As you depart, help the Crew hoist the sails if you wish, and then sit back and watch the wind fill them, moving the Schooner Pride through the waters and past some of the most historic sites in the country such as Ft. Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War were fired.

Discover the tranquility of cruising the historic Charleston Harbor on a genuine tall ship, powered only by the wind in our sails.

While this is not a narrated cruise, the Crew is happy to answer questions and point out landmarks and you’re welcome to help raise and trim the sails or you may sit back and enjoy the ride!

Sail through waters that Blackbeard once anchored in, relax on deck and imagine a time when the harbor was filled with these majestic ships. There is no set route; the boat just follow the winds wherever they take us.

The Schooner Pride, is an 84-foot, three-mast schooner modeled after the classic coastal trading schooners. She is an authentic tall ship and possesses all the character and class of a ship designed during the great days of sail. She is USCG certified to hold up to 49 passengers.

Key Points About This Tour:

  • Often observe dolphins playing and racing across the bow and frolicking in the harbor.
  • Pass Patriots Point and see the USS Yorktown, an Essex class aircraft carrier which played an important role during WWII.
  • See the beautiful homes that line the Battery.
  • See Ft. Sumter and one of the forts that fired upon it during the first battle of the Civil War, Ft. Johnson.
  • Watch pelicans perform diving acts.
  • See the impressive Arthur Ravenel Jr. bridge, one of the longest cable stayed bridges in the Western hemisphere.
  • Soft drinks, beer, wine, champagne and water will all be available for purchase while we explore the harbor. Although we do not serve food on board, we welcome you to bring your own snacks. You will arrive back at the dock two hours later feeling refreshed and relaxed, with a new perspective on this historic harbor.

My family recently visited Charleston and the Tour Pass was the way to go! We chose the Carriage Ride, an absolute must! The Walking Ghost Tour was creepy for sure, but very entertaining and Fort Sumter was pretty cool also. We loved taking advantage of the Standard Features as well, enjoying free donuts and dole whip and the Fun Park was a highlight of the trip as well. The merchants were very friendly and happy to honor our pass. I wouldn’t go to Charleston again without taking advantage of the TourPass. 10 out 10!

Purchased the TourPass online in advance of our trip. We selected a two day pass which included 3 premium selections and as many standard selections we could fit in.

Slick, slick, slick! The premium tours tell you how many spots are available which made it easy to know if you have time to choose or pick right away. Once selected you just go at the appointed time and tell the provider you are using tourpass. Your name is on their list! Worked flawlessly!

The Standard tours is just as simple. You go, tell them you have tourpass, you click a button, the provider gives you a code which you type in and click submitt. That's it! Enjoy!

This system works great and is a savings. Makes scheduling your vist EZPZ!

If you're on the fence, buy it!

Initially, I had some amount of distrust ordering on line. Worried that tickets would not come through, etc. Mathematically pre calculated if TourPass could offer savings compared to purchasing admission tickets individually. TourPass certainly did! To get the most out of our day, I planned an aggressive itinerary. We even brought sandwiches for lunch, so as not to waste a minute. We were able to get in 6 standard tours and one featured! Our second featured tour on Red Boat was cancelled. TourPass promptly refunded this amount on my credit card. No hassle, no worries! We did the1 day St Augustine pass. The featured Trolley Tour was outstanding, as were standard tours The Oldest Store and Jail. If I ever get to Savanah or Charleston will definitely go with TourPass. They did a great job of covering St Augustine’s highlights. Their app was user friendly and showed proximity of nearby attractions, saving steps and time. Everything was so easy. It’s not often one has such a positive experience. TourPass offers value and demonstrated integrity. You can trust them.

Our tour pass was worth the price. It's actually a money saver. We took the tour of St Augustine and got our bearings. It also helped us select the attractions. The drivers were pleasant, very helpful, and steeped in St Augustine history. Simply wonderful!

This made our Savannah trip so much easier to plan and to see all the attractions we wanted. It saved me over $100. In three days, we were able to visit all the places we wanted plus more! I would highly recommend buying this tour pass!

My husband and I went to St. Augustine for 2 days and wanted to see as much as possible. By using TourPass we were able to see the most popular attractions at a greatly reduced price. I would definitely use TourPass in other cities!

Purchasing a Tour Pass was the best decision for us! We saw many more attractions that we would have without it! So efficient too! Pay once and go, go, go! We would highly recommend it!

I purchased the Savannah tour pass for 3 days, I did not use them consecutively, as I was on town for 8 days. I chose to do the Hop on Hop off Tour on my first day to give me an overview of Savannah, I rode the trolleys for a total of two loops, guide offered a different perspective on the city. I took a walking tour, Brad was awesome, 1.5 hrs of wonderful history. I rode the Paddle boat, was a bit disappointed the wheel doesn't function. I also visited Fort Pulaski on my last day in Savannah, it was a wonderful experience. Those were the 4 featured options I used. I also used multiple options from the normal options, my 2 favorites were the Square Pops and the Jepsen Art Center. I cannot express how awesome it was to be able to enter a venue, have it paid for, and just enjoy. I will purchase the Savannah Pass when I return next year, it was well worth it's value. Now I am hopeful the Charleston, SC Pass, that it is just as terrific, as I am visiting in the Fall.

This was awesome value for the money, we were in both places the first week in March with another couple and it made planning things to do much easier and the value was outstanding. We figure we saved about $100 per couple.

We purchased the two day St. Augustine TourPass and found the pass well worth the money, providing us with access to museums and tours we might have passed on had we had to pay full price to see without the pass. Highly recommend purchasing, especially if in the area for several days.

So easy! Tour passed saved us over $200 dollars. Just scan your phone and enjoy. Great way to visit St. Augustine.

Tour Pass made our trip so easy to navigate. Easy check in at all our locations! Saved us a lot of time.

My contact at Tour Pass for both Savannah and Charleston was a gentleman named Keith. He went above and beyond to help me in setting up the events/days and was extremely patient with a non-technologically adept mature individual like me. He helped every time I called and was always charming while doing so which reduced my stress level. He also assisted when a day change was needed and on a refund for an event. It felt like my sister and I had a friend in the area!

The events were good selections and the information provided for each was appreciated. What would have added to the info for tourists would have been info about parking availability.

Loved it and saved money. St Augustine is such a fun city. Makes planning and visiting soooo much easier. I’ve purchased Tour Pass in all of their cities now (Charleston, Savannah and now St Augustine).

5 stars all the way! So many worthwhile attractions to choose from. Don’t even need to think twice or research more. Worth all the money for however many days of your visit. Plus so easy to use. Enough said! We will definitely be back and buy the Tour Pass all over again.

Peter the Great

statue on the Moskwa river

A statue of Peter I on the bank of the Moskva River is one of the tallest outdoor sculptures in the world.

The idea for this monument was conceived by Mayor Luzhkov and created with the help of city-sponsored artist Tsereteli. The monument has courted extensive controversy. For a start, Peter the Great's enthusiasm for his northern capital St. Petersburg was motivated at least in part by his hatred for Moscow. Putting aside historical politics though, others complain that the monument is just plain ugly. The monument itself is 165 feet high, featuring a strident Peter the Great standing atop a frigate in full sail and brandishing a golden scroll. It stands on the western tip of the elongated island formed between the Moskva river and the Vodootvodnyi canal.
