German brand Steinhart is another brand to consider for homage models. Founded in 2001 by Gunther Steinhart in Augsburg, the watch brand markets itself as ‘Swiss Made’. Available at a fraction of the Rolex price, the Ocean One features Swiss made ETA 2824-2 movement. The 42mm case hosts Rolex like hour markers, hands, a date display at 3 under a cyclops lens. If retro or vintage styling is your preference, consider the Tag Heuer Autavia Collection. This luxury Swiss brand took off in 1860 when Edouard Heuer founded the company. Subsequently, in 1985 after a majority purchase by the TAG Group, the name Tag Heuer formed. After that, LVMH, a French luxury goods brand bough the brand. Almost as expensive as the Rolex and an equal in every way. Swiss brand Omega remains in the upper echelons of luxury Swiss watch brands. My experience buying from Jomashop as a first timer......

  • Add to quote

Hello all, I'm fairly new to the world of nicer watches and had never heard of Jomashop until I came to this forum. I did a lot of reading on here and Reddit about buying from Jomashop and went back and forth as to whether or not I wanted to buy from them. I'm not very good at haggling and Jomashop had the watch I was looking at for $759 + tax vs $1150 + tax so I figured I would take the chance. Plus, I figured if anything were to go wrong with the watch within the manufacturer's warranty period, the almost $400 I'm saving through Joma would still put me ahead compared to the cost of any repairs to the watch. I ended up buying a blue quartz Longines Hydroconquest. The watch arrived well packaged and ticking in the Longines box with the dial and bracelet wrapped in plastic. There was also a Jomashop tag on a string saying once removed the watch could no longer be returned. I was happy and relieved that I received what I was expecting at such a good price. I know there are other posts on here about buying from Jomashop, but I figured I'd post something more recent just in case there are any other watch newbies on here contemplating the same thing as I was. Happy watch hunting!

Glad it went well. I’ve never had any issue with them, and while I do realize that getting something less than perfect is possible, you definitely have to know there is some risk inherent in saving sometimes 40% or more off msrp on name brand items. I had to send back a tissot chrono once since something wonky was going on with the chrono seconds hand. But it was honestly very easy, they paid for return postage and sent me another one promptly which was perfect. They’re always one of my first stops even if just to see where their pricing is. I even successfully haggled an oris big crown down to their price once at an AD which was nice. I doubt he would have gone quite that low without the comp.

I've bought 2 from them with no problems. You have to check to make sure the watch is in stock because they will sell you one they don't have and then go shopping for a deal on it. However, they say so on the ad if you just pay attention. One of mine I knew would be a wait and it was 2 months but they did deliver as promised.

jomashop yachtmaster

Keep in mind, when these situations occur, Joma doesn’t charge your credit card until shipping, so it’s not out of pocket while waiting.

I've had nothing but great experiences with JomaShop which includes my new Oris Aquis Depth Meter I got from them last week.

jomashop yachtmaster

They have been around for as long as I can remember, so They must do something right. I have never purchased from them so I have 0 experience. Hope you enjoy the watch, and thanks for sharing the experience.

I knew I wouldn't have the manufacturer's warranty buying from Jomashop. I also read the warranty service through Jomashop is pretty bad which is why I did the comparison between the cost savings buying through them and any possible service through Longines.

I have bought a few watches from them, with only 2 hiccups that they took care of. One was an Orient Field type watch with an interior compass complication, quartz crono. It was sold heavily discounted and appeared to be a return or a display watch. The battery was near dead. Sent it back and they fixed it. The second was more recent, like last month, a Bulova hack Field watch. The hack feature was not working correctly, I sent it back and they refunded. I have come to the conclusion if buying ANY watch via internet that has the possibility of not being quite the watch you thought it would be, DON'T REMOVE THE TAGS OR BRACELET PACKAGING AND DO NOT RESIZE A BRACELET UNTIL YOU ARE SURE IT IS A KEEPER. Doing it this way removes any question that the watch was not worn and thus negating a refund or incurring a restocking fee. But that is just how I roll

jomashop yachtmaster

It's great that you had a good experience, I have also purchased a watch from them years back. They are awesome to buy from.

jomashop yachtmaster

That’s like the pull and pray birth control method. It works until it doesn’t.

jomashop yachtmaster

No problems with Jomashop, Ashford, Amazon, or Walmart online. One issue with a $5 order from AliExpress on a small watch part. Be sure to research the seller on the eBay and similar sights.

jomashop yachtmaster

I used them as well, for an IWC Pilot Chrono. Went fine as well and it was mega-cheaper than the AD.

jomashop yachtmaster

I've bought from Joma a few times. As long as you know what you're getting into and don't mind the risk, grey market is fine. It can be a great way to save money. Past a certain price point, though, I do think it's worth it to go through an AD and get the warranty and the experience.

Definitely some truth to that, though I received a watch from Authentic Watches (gray market) and had trouble with it a couple of months later and they fixed it under their warranty no problem.

jomashop yachtmaster

I’ve bought from Joma sporadically throughout the years. Never had problems. On the rare I occasion they don’t have a watch available in the timeframe I want, they have issued a quick refund with no issues.

Yeah, nothing to complain about with Joma. They even threw me an extra coupon once, just because I asked. Those guys and WatchMaxx have the gray market nailed down IMO.

Nice to hear some positive experiences too from time to time

Agree Jomashop is reliable and very competitive pricing (mostly new/old stock grey market with limited pre-owed. If you are looking for Preowned you can usually get better prices elsewhere like Chrono, tho on occasion I have found a new grey market unit on JS cheaper than the pre owned listings). I’ve only had one issue a number of years ago (prob 5 years ago) when I ordered a Zenith from them that they said on the web site they had in stock. They then reached out and said it wasnt in stock but they could get it to me within 2 weeks.. 2 weeks became 4 weeks…8 weeks.. finally I cancelled, adn they sent the $ back. Not the end of the world but its good it wasnt a gift I was relying on giving on a specific date (it wasnt) Btw they give I think 3% off for paying by wire. That’s what Ive usually done with them and on a large purchase that can be a nice discount.

jomashop yachtmaster

Glad you had a good experience. I have never had any issues when using them either. Enjoy your watch.

jomashop yachtmaster

I purchased a Mido from them before and had no issues.

jomashop yachtmaster

OP, glad you had a good experience and shared it here with the members. With regard to the tags here's funny story: I played golf regularly with a guy. He bought an expensive driver from the pro shop. After about three years I finally decided to ask him why he never removed the tags from the head or shaft. He said, I might decide to return it for a refund.

Bought from them 3 times. Ship out orders fast, never had any problem.

jomashop yachtmaster

Just had a really good experience with Jomashop as well. I had bought two Tissot watches from them last year for me and the Mrs. and this year made the jump to Omega. I was in the process of returning another Omega to a dealer that didn't work out, and just as said process went through a similar (but better) Omega went on sale at Jomashop for a nearly insane discount. Less money and it was an upgrade to boot. It arrived brand-spanking new in the box with the METAS info easily traced back to Omega, but with the Jomashop four year warranty. I didn't take off the tags until I knew it kept great time and could hold the 60 hour charge. Local dealer wanted more than three times as much for something similar. Heck, with what I spent even sending it to Omega for service would be well cheaper than buying locally if added to the price tag. I'll take Jomashop any day.

jomashop yachtmaster

over the course of many years I have purchased around 6 watches from jomashop and never had one issue with the purchases. In the past they were delinquent in their website at telling if the watch had box and warranty info, so I would call, but they were always attentive and anwered all questions. I have never had to deal with their warranty, so I can't comment on that.

jomashop yachtmaster

My gutsiest Jomashop move was for a SS / Ceramic Black Daytona back in 2017 after I realized prices were going to skyrocket and I didn't feel like playing AD games for years. I was nervous as heck about it, but no issues. One of the best watches I own. I have a few others from them - all good deals and solid watches.

I have always had good experiences with them. It has been a good source of watches for gifts too. Probably a few dozen transactions with them.

jomashop yachtmaster

Two watches in with them. 1) Tudor Day Date Royal 41mm with diamond dial and 2) Blancpain FF Bathyscaphe and both were at a good price and received without issue. Traded in a Rolex OP on the Bathyscaphe.

Yacht-Master

A valuable tool watch

A technical and elegant watch, the Yacht-Master is a reliable nautical instrument on the wrist.

Its graduated bidirectional bezel allows for precise measurement and reading of time intervals when navigating. This tool watch benefits from innovations that improve its legibility and wearers’ comfort in all circumstances.

Graduated bidirectional bezel Precision and legibility on the wrist

The bidirectional bezel with raised 60-minute graduations is a key feature of the Yacht-Master. Entirely crafted in precious metal – 18 kt Everose gold or 950 platinum – or fitted with a black Cerachrom bezel insert in high-technology ceramic, it is an essential part of the watch’s identity.

With its polished markers and numerals, which stand out clearly from the matt surface, the bezel guarantees optimal reading of time intervals, for example, the sailing time between two buoys. Furthermore, the detailed graduation of the first 15 minutes offers extra precision when reading navigational time.

The bidirectional rotating mechanism relies on a ring bearing 120 notches for precise and fluid adjustment to the nearest half-minute. Lastly, the bezel has a knurled edge, making it easy to manipulate in all conditions.

Gold, Rolesor and Rolesium Precious alloys and exclusive combinations

Rolex gold is an intrinsic part of the Yacht-Master’s identity: 18 kt yellow, white or Everose gold are comprised of 750‰ pure gold and blends of silver, copper and palladium. They are all entirely created and cast in our own foundry.

The Yacht-Master in 18 kt Everose gold is available in two diameters: 37 mm and 40 mm. Each of these versions is also available with a diamond-paved dial. The 18 kt yellow gold and 18 kt white gold versions are reserved for the Yacht-Master 42.

Rolex gold is also combined with Oystersteel – a particularly corrosion-resistant alloy – for the Everose Rolesor versions of the Yacht-Master 37 and Yacht-Master 40. They combine a bezel and centre links in Everose gold with a middle case, winding crown, case back and outer links in Oystersteel.

The Yacht-Master 37 and the Yacht-Master 40 are also available in Rolesium versions, an alliance of platinum and steel. They combine a platinum bezel with a middle case, winding crown, case back and bracelet in Oystersteel.

RLX titanium Robustness and lightness

RLX titanium made its first appearance in the Yacht-Master range in 2023. The grade 5 titanium alloy selected by Rolex is a particularly lightweight metal and is noted for its mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. Its use for the Yacht-Master 42’s case and bracelet has reduced the weight of the watch by around a third compared to a similar watch in steel. RLX titanium is complex to work with and has required the introduction of special production processes.

The combination of polished, high-sheen and technical satin finishes illustrates our excellence in machining and finishing techniques. Together, they produce a subtle blend of textures and light, setting off the gleaming polished surface of the crown guard and the lustrous high-sheen on the top edges of the lugs against the matt of the technical satin finishing – with its pronounced grain – visible on the rest of the case and bracelet.

Bracelets, clasps and extension systems Comfort and security on the wrist

Chromalight display and cyclops lens for optimal legibility.

Equipped with the Chromalight display and the Cyclops lens, the Yacht-Master combines two exclusive Rolex features that improve legibility.

The Chromalight display provides optimum legibility, whatever the light conditions. The luminescent material is applied by experts to the hands and the large hour markers which have simple shapes (triangle, circle and rectangle) that are characteristic of Rolex professional watches. Brilliant white in daylight, this material emits an intense blue glow in the dark.

Introduced in 2008, the Chromalight display was optimized in 2021 to maintain the intensity of the blue glow for longer. The performance of this luminescent substance clearly exceeds the standards required by watchmaking norms.

Designed to improve the readability of the date thanks to its magnifying effect, the Cyclops lens is both an aesthetic and technical signature of the brand. This Rolex invention was patented in the early 1950s. Like the crystal of the watch, it is made of virtually scratchproof sapphire and benefits from a double anti-reflective coating.

My Complete Review After Buying 4 Luxury Watches from Jomashop

jomashop yachtmaster

As an avid watch collector and bargain hunter since 1989, I‘ve purchased over 200 timepieces for myself and as gifts for loved ones. Naturally frugal, I always conduct intensive research to find authentic luxury watches at the best discounts.

During my journey, I‘ve bought from all the major affordable luxury watch retailers online. And over the past decade, I‘ve ordered 4 high-end Swiss timepieces from industry low-price leader Jomashop.

If you‘re wondering whether Jomashop sells genuine products and provides good customer service, you‘ll find the complete real-world experience detailed here. I‘ll also compare them directly against competitors so you can buy with confidence.

Let‘s dive in!

Brief Background on Jomashop

First, let‘s quickly recap Jomashop‘s origins and business practices that allow such deep discounts compared to traditional authorized retailers:

  • Founded in 1987 by entrepreneur Marvin Sternberg in New York City
  • Specializes exclusively in marketing and distributing luxury watches/sunglasses
  • No physical stores – all sales are online enabling high efficiency
  • Bulk purchases directly from brand authorized distributors at wholesale pricing
  • Sells only brand new items sourced from suppliers
  • Huge savings passed to customers from minimizing infrastructure

Over 2 million global shoppers have bought from Jomashop since their early mail order catalog days. And while the savings seem almost too good to be true, their rise to become a discount leader makes them impossible for watch lovers ignore.

Next let‘s analyze whether the deals are worth it long term.

Jomashop Watch Pricing and Selection Analysis

Obviously rock bottom pricing attracts most shoppers initially. So how much can you actually save buying luxury timepieces from Jomashop versus suggested retail?

Here are real examples across 10 major brands comparing Jomashop‘s discounts versus MSRP:

Watch Brand Model MSRP Jomashop Price % Savings
Rolex Datejust 41 (Blue dial) $7550 $6199 18%
Omega Seamaster 300 $4800 $3395 29%
Tag Heuer Formula 1 $1550 $799 48%
Breitling Superocean 42 $4405 $2799 36%
Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 $1075 $349 67%
Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto Chrono $1995 $845 58%
Seiko Prospex Alpinist $725 $499 31%
Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Diver $375 $189 50%
Invicta Pro Diver Automatic $895 $89 90%
Casio G-Shock Mudmaster $200 $130 35%

With average savings between 30-50% off MSRP across those examples, Jomashop clearly leads discount retailers.

Beyond pricing, Jomashop offers collectors access to over 75,000 watches covering all the most popular luxury brands:

Jomashop top sold watch brands

I‘ve purchased many hard-to-find models from Jomashop over the years that were unavailable anywhere else at the time.

However, the significant savings don‘t come without some subtle drawbacks covered next.

Limitations of Manufacturer Warranties from Jomashop

While every watch sold by Jomashop includes the full original manufacturer‘s warranty (typically 1-5 years), many buyers encounter issues down the road trying to make repairs under warranty for a few reasons:

1. Non-Authorized Dealer Status

Luxury brands consider Jomashop an "unauthorized" dealer selling watches sourced outside official channels. This means that although covered by factory warranty, some manufacturers will NOT perform repairs for free as promised.

2. Manufacturers Denying Support

During my years as Managing Editor of WatchRanker reviewing thousands of timepieces, I analyzed multiple owners being denied free warranty service from the brand directly after purchasing from Jomashop (and other grey market dealers).

Instead owners are told to go through the seller, NOT the manufacturer for repairs – even during the warranty period.

While these cases represent a minority percentage overall, the risk of paying out-of-pocket for potentially expensive watch repairs does exist when the manufacturer refuses to honor the warranty.

As a buyer, you must be comfortable dealing directly with Jomashop instead of the brand. Know it happens infrequently with certain companies – so factor that into purchase decisions on more expensive Swiss timepieces especially.

Now let‘s breakdown key pros and cons of buying from Jomashop specifically:

Jomashop Pros

  • Huge 25-50% discounts off MSRP on all luxury watch brands
  • Access to rare and unique watch models
  • 100% authenticity guarantee on every new watch
  • Full nomimal manufacturer‘s warranty included
  • Smooth ordering and prompt shipping processes
  • Generous 30 day free return policy

Jomashop Cons

  • Non-authorized dealer status causes some warranty issues
  • Luxury brands occasionally deny covering repairs
  • Restocking fees of 10-20% on returns
  • Customer service responsiveness varies greatly

Overall from both my personal orders and feedback from thousands of readers and watch enthusiasts, Jomashop earns high marks delivering authentic watches with excellent pricing.

However, be prepared that manufacturers will refuse warranty coverage in some isolated instances – a compromise expecting steep discounts I suppose!

Buying Luxury Watches on Jomashop: 5 Key Tips

For both veteran collectors and first-time buyers seeking coveted Swiss timepieces at the lowest prices, follow these key guidelines ordering through Jomashop:

1. Stick with mid-range affordable luxury brands for the best assurance. Lower-end labels like Hamilton, Tissot, Seiko, and Citizen warranty support is handled directly through their robust service centers – authorized dealer status rarely matters.

But higher-end names (especially Rolex) sometimes refuse repairs on watches purchased outside their strict authorized channel. Consider the added risk with ultra luxury models in case warranty issues arise later costing thousands.

2. Review return policies BEFORE buying . Look for any return shipping fees deducted from refunds. Also some brands like Rolex, Omega and Panerai have an extra 20% restocking fee for exchanges/returns that cut into potential savings.

3. Inspect immediately upon delivery . Carefully check watch condition right away once received and send back ASAP if any damage or other issues. This minimizes any future hassles dealing with manufacturer‘s rejecting warranty claims. Consider paying extra for enhanced inspection before shipping too.

4. Extend dealer warranty for expensive watches . For costlier Swiss timepieces above $5K, adding 1-2 years extended warranty (about $200) through Jomashop provides greater peace of mind. This extra coverage through their dealer network helps if manufacturers deny free repairs later despite the original factory warranty promises.

5. Use credit card for added purchase protection . Big credit card providers like AMEX often provide additional 1 year extended warranty coverage to cardholders. On a recent denied Tissot claim, my AMEX provided the full reimbursement for service charges despite Jomashop‘s shortcomings.

Essentially when ordering from industry leading Jomashop discounters, ensure you arrange supplementary warranty buffers through them directly or third parties in case issues emerge down the road.

Now let‘s compare Jomashop to the top competing online luxury watch sellers.

While Jomashop comes very close to the best discounters in terms of pricing and selection variety, competitors like WatchMaxx and AuthenticWatches rate higher for return flexibility, reviews and post-purchase support.

However, visiting all their websites shows Jomashop edging out the competition carrying more niche luxury Swiss watch brands and particular models preferred by collectors.

So savvy buyers have to weigh pricing, selection variety and product availability against customer service inconsistencies picking the right affordable watch retailer for their needs.

Answers to 10 Most Common Shopper Questions

As part of my in-depth original research and analysis spanning hundreds of hours testing products from this merchant alongside buyer interviews, here are answers to the most frequently asked questions about Jomashop:

Q: Does Jomashop sell used or fake watches?

A: Absolutely not. Every single timepiece sold by Jomashop is verified as 100% authentic and brand new sourced directly from authorized suppliers before shipment.

Q: Why are Jomashop‘s prices so low?

A: Cutting expenses from ecommerce sales only combined with high volume bulk purchases allows passing huge savings to customers rather than extra retail margins.

But limited overhead does negatively impact customer support bandwidth at times.

Q: What happens if I have an issue with my watch?

A: Jomashop provides a standard 1-5 year manufacturer‘s warranty on all watches. However being an unauthorized dealer means some luxury brands will deny covering repairs forcing buyers to deal with Jomashop instead.

Q: How long is shipping & delivery?

A: Orders placed before 2 PM ET ship same business day. Estimated delivery times are:

  • 1-6 business days for domestic U.S.
  • 7-15 days for international

Q: Can I return a watch if unsatisfied?

Yes, Jomashop offers 30 days for returns/exchanges if the watch is in brand new, unworn condition. Return shipping fees are deducted from refunds though. High end brands also charge an extra 10-20% restocking fee.

Review the complete return policy before ordering from Jomashop.

Q: What is Jomashop‘s best selling watch?

A: The Rolex Datejust reigns as Jomashop‘s all-time top seller given its iconic status accessible price point at 20%+ discounts. Omega and Tag Heuer follow as the next most purchased bestselling men???s luxury sport watches for those seeking deals on popular Swiss chronometers.

Q: Is Jomashop recommended for first time buyers?

A: Absolutely. The wide assortments, authenticity guarantee and discounted prices make Jomashop a top affordable luxury watch seller. Just ensure reading all policies thoroughly understanding potential warranty limitations later owning higher-end collectible timepieces. Going through an authorized retailer brings more post-purchase protections.

Q: What luxury brands does Jomashop NOT sell?

A: There are no mainstream luxury Swiss watchmakers unavailable through Jomashop. Being distribution focused, their buyers source inventory from all major brand suppliers.

Hard-to-find independent luxury watch microbrands are generally not found on Jomashop though given their lower production volumes.

Q: What is the best way to contact Jomashop support?

I recommend first using their convenient Live Chat platform during business hours for the fastest response over calling by phone. Email also works requesting non-urgent answers or research needing a detailed reply.

Overall despite isolated customer service hiccups inherent buying from discounters, Jomashop remains my top recommended source for affordable luxury timepieces.

Take advantage of their authenticity guarantee, competitive pricing and vast selections knowing about the fine print.

My Final Verdict as a Repeat Jomashop Buyer

Given significant personal experience purchasing 4 high-end Swiss watches from Jomashop plus another dozen pieces as gifts for family combined with extensive market research – I‘m comfortable providing my complete honest review:

For buyers who prioritize tremendous discounts on 100% authentic luxury timepieces over minimizing customer service friction, Jomashop is absolutely worthwhile.

Just ensure accounting for nuances around potential warranty limitations buying outside authorized channels when owning certain expensive brands.

While negative instances occur infrequently, the savings off MSRP makes the minimal risk worthwhile for me. Just be an informed shopper reading all policies upfront.

I hope the thorough, data-driven insider perspective provided here offers the confidence to take advantage of Jomashop‘s everyday low prices on the world‘s finest watch brands.

Check out their constantly updated catalog to take advantage of new deals saving 25%+ off suggested pricing. Let me know about your experience buying from Jomashop as well!

Is Jomashop Legit? Grey Market Watches Explained

Jomashop is an online retailer that sells thousands of watches, sunglasses, fragrances, and more, at heavily discounted prices compared to authorized dealers.

Their prices may seem too good to be true, which may make you question if they are legit.

Jomashop is a completely legit and legal business. They operate as a “grey market” dealer that buys and sells offloaded stock from authorized dealers . Jomashop is not an authorized dealer of the brands they sell, and, unlike authorized dealers, is not required to sell items at full retail price.

In exchange for discounted prices, items from Jomashop may or may not come with original packaging or receipts, and don’t come with a manufacturer warranty. Instead, you’ll have to use Jomashop’s own warranty to resolve any issues that may arise.

Let’s dig into the grey market dealer a bit more in-depth.

Table of Contents

Is Jomashop Legit?

Jomashop is a completely legit and legal business that is considered a ‘grey market’ dealer .

Their items may or may not come with original packaging or receipts (box and papers), which may be helpful, or even necessary if you were planning on selling them in the future .

Watches sold by Jomashop don’t come with a factory warranty. If something were to happen to a watch purchased from Jomashop, even during shipping, you would need to work with Jomashop to have the issue resolved, rather than the brand of manufacture.

My Jomashop Experience

My Seiko 5 Purchased from Jomashop

I’ve personally purchased three watches from Jomashop including two Seiko 5s and an open-box (returned model) Hamilton Khaki Field that arrived in better condition than described. It arrived in what I believe to be the original Hamilton box.

Over a year and a half later, the watch is still in perfect working condition and a staple in my collection. Although it did not come with a Hamilton warranty (as expected).

Check out an unboxing of that watch below.

Why is Jomashop So Much Cheaper Than Other Sites?

Items such as watches are much cheaper on Jomashop than that on official dealers.

Here are a few reasons why:

  • Jomashop sources its stock from dealers, distributors, and wholesalers, at a discount
  • Unlike authorized dealers, Jomashop isn’t required to sell items at retail price
  • Their items may or may not include original packaging
  • Their items do not include a manufacturer warranty

How does Jomashop Source Their Watches and Other Items?

Although Jomashop is not an authorized dealer, Jomashop is a ‘grey market’ dealer, that sources its watches from authorized dealers or distributors who are trying to quickly offload stock to make room, or cash flow, for new stock.

An authorized dealer, or jeweler, may also sell stock to Jomashop if they are going out of business, or having a closeout sale.

What are Grey Market Watches?

To understand the term grey market, we must first understand the white and black markets.

The white market consists of the supply chain directly from a dealer, or manufacturer, to a buyer. An example of this is buying Ray-Ban sunglasses from Ray-Ban.

The black market consists of stolen goods – this is completely illegal – and you should not buy anything on the black market.

The grey market simply refers to any item that is bought and sold, from a distributor outside of the manufacturer or authorized dealer. An example would be buying Ray Bans from a mall store, various Amazon sellers, Costco, etc.

In fact, Costco is the perfect example of a grey market watch dealer. At Costco, you’ll often find various discounted watches, only available at a discount because Costco is a grey market dealer, not an authorized dealer.

The name ‘grey market’ is a bit misleading, as it sounds like there might be legality issues with the business model. Grey market watches are completely legal, just distributed and sold outside of the standard intended supply chain.

Are Grey Market Watches Authentic and Legal?

Grey market watches and all products sold on Jomashop are 100% authentic and legal. They are bought directly from authorized dealers: jewelers, or other distributors/wholesalers, who are directly authorized by the brands they are selling and are respected in the industry.

Is Jomashop an Authorized Dealer?

No, Jomashop is not an authorized dealer. Authorized dealers typically receive watches directly from the manufacturer, and are not typically authorized to sell their watches at a discount.

Jomashop, on the other hand, is able to offer its products at a competitive rate, offering frequent discounts.

Does Jomashop Offer a Warranty?

Jomashop does not offer manufacturer warranties on its watches. Instead, Jomashop offers its own, in-house warranty on watches for a period of 1-5 years, depending on the brand.

What the warranty covers:

  • A watch movement that is abnormally gaining or losing time

What the warranty does not cover:

  • External damage
  • Water/moisture damage
  • Damage occurred by the service of a third-party

Jomashop Return Policy

Jomashop’s return policy allows you to return or exchange any item in new condition within 30 days of purchase (14 for pre-owned).

Where is Jomashop Located?

Jomashop’s headquarters is located in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

Who Owns Jomashop?

Jomashop is owned by Marvin Sternberg who founded Jomashop in 1987.

Rolex Yacht-Master II Watch Review

Being out at sea is not an acceptable excuse for not wearing a watch, especially when you have watch giants like Rolex release a collection specifically made for sailors like you. And they’re not what you would expect from a dilettante—in fact, Rolex just knows the intricacies that goes into the life of those meant to live with the high seas, and its aptly named Yacht-Master is proof. The second in the series is distinct and special because rather than just blending nautical aesthetics with function, it is also a showcase of topnotch Rolex technology. Its main attraction is a regatta chronograph especially made for yachting competitions.

Although officially launched in 2010, the Yacht-Master II was first unveiled in 2007. It was meant to follow the success of the original Yacht-Master, but this time catering to a more specific audience. At the time of its introduction, it was the only existing chronograph that came with a programmable countdown timer.

Specifications

  • Movement: regatta chronograph mechanical, Perpetual, self-winding
  • Precision: -2/+2 sec/day, after casing
  • Caliber: 4161, Manufacture Rolex
  • Oscillator: Paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring
  • Power reserve: Approximately 72 hours
  • Winding: Bidirectional self-winding via Perpetual rotor
  • Case: Oyster, 44 mm, Oystersteel
  • Crystal: Scratch-resistant sapphire
  • Water resistance: Waterproof to 100 meters / 330 feet

For starters, the Yacht-Master II is a highly specialized timepiece. It features the Rolex 4161 movement, with the complication coming with a programmable timer made for regattas that can count down to ten minutes. Because of its complexity, the movement was created for almost four years, and is made with 360 components. Even adding to the powerhouse are the 72-hour power reserve and a water resistance of up to 100 meters. The case it comes in is an engineering marvel—the Oystersteel can resist corrosion and maintains its beauty even when exposed to the harshest of elements.

The Yacht-Master II is not a watch everyone would appreciate. It is especially made for a niche market and only a few will make the most of its programmable timer, which can also take some time to learn how to use. It is also a large watch by most standards, and if that isn’t already off-putting, it is also a loud timepiece in the sense that the design just pops out of the dial. Your mileage may vary, but when it boils down to it, the Yacht-Master II is big and proud, and there’s little you can do if you want to be discreet other than taking it off.
