Guide to Bora Bora
Jewel of the South Seas
As one of the most celebrated islands in the South Pacific , the sparkling island of Bora Bora is a great treat for those exploring French Polynesi a on a luxury yacht charter . Scattered with picturesque anchorages, turquoise azure waters and an abundance of scenic hotspots, Bora Bora is perfect for those looking for a luxury escape that is incomparable to anything other place in the world.
Bora Bora is globally renowned to be one of the most romantic destinations on the planet, a honeymooners dream and a place where beauty and charm is unrivalled, so much so that yacht charterers who visit here simply never want to leave. With an abundance of five star-resorts sprinkled graciously across the island, guests can hop off their vessel and enjoy a top-class massage, couples treatments on the beach or spend the evening underneath the stars in a private over-water villa. Some of the best on the island include the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora , Conrad Bora Bora Nui and St Regis Bora Bora Resort , all of which are home to some of the best spas in French Polynesia.
A totally private oasis, Bora Bora allows couples, families and friends to explore her exceptional lagoons and pristine beaches with no restrictions. Diving, snorkelling and lagoon tours are the most popular pastimes here and are easily accessible from your super yacht charter. After basking in the sunshine, jump off your vessel and into the calm waters of a picturesque sand-edged motu (islets. Particularly popular is the Motu Tapu Lagoon where guests are likely to encounter some of the most spectacular marine life from many different species of tropical fish to larger sea creatures such as manta rays and sharks.
With such a dreamlike setting, Bora Bora is perhaps the easiest place for you to kick back, relax and rejuvenate. You will find you are constantly surrounded by the most remarkable scenery whether that be the soaring rainforest-covered basaltic peaks or the soft white sandy beaches. The island is so quiet, so don’t expect a booming nightlife.
You can, however, enjoy date nights on the beach, cocktails under the stars and enjoy some top quality fine dining in some pretty unique destinations. Try La Villa Mahana for the ultimate dining experience. Set in an elegant and sophisticated courtyard, the top restaurant provides guests with a fresh and exciting menu filled with a range of delectable dishes and to top it off, each meal comes with a magnificent wine pairing that will take your dining experience to the next level.
If it is the adventure you’re looking for, you won’t be disappointed with what Bora Bora has to offer. With so much to see on water and onland, guests have the opportunity to get involved with many exciting and adrenaline-filled activities. You could hike amongst the hibiscus, past ancient villages to reach the volcanic summit of Mount Pahia, or take a 4X4 tour of the island before visiting boutique shops to buy local oils, vanilla, and black pearls; the opportunities are endless.
With such a diverse range of pursuits to enjoy and explore, Bora Bora promises to be an exceptional vacation destination. If you'd like to learn more about chartering around these waters, please contact a recommended yacht charter broker to start planning your next vacation.

Destination title
The name conjures up turquoise lagoons with overwater bungalows, the quintessential image of an island paradise.
Bora Bora – TOP YACHT CHARTER DESTINATION
Bora Bora is a fitting place for an upscale private luxury yacht cruise. Whale watching, feeding the stingrays or just relaxing in a sun lounger on a teakwood deck, swim stops in scenically beautiful spots, exciting diving escapades and thrills and chills of water sports – the range of experiences is so wide you’ll find it hard to know where to begin!
Bora Bora – THING TO DO
Sky-piercing Mount Otemanu is a remnant of an ancient volcano overlooking some of the most beautiful turquoise blue water. Opting for the hike, you’ll be rewarded with epic views and incredible memories. Prefer to skip the climb? You will still enjoy the view of Mount Otemanu itself towering over the lagoons, you’ll see it everywhere you go on the island, including Matira Beach.
Matira Beach faces west so it’s a great spot for truly stunning sunsets. Add crystal clear water, warm, shallow, mirror-calm as it is protected by the reef, proximity to the marina so you won’t have to travel too far from your yacht, gorgeous white sand, a strong likelihood of spotting a stingray or butterfly fish swimming by, and you’ll agree that Matira Beach is a place you don’t want to miss.
Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate Bora Bora Turtle Centre, where people nurture and treat injured turtles. Once they recover, they are put back in the wild ocean. In the morning a marine biologist does a presentation on the anatomy and life of turtles and afterwards you get to feed these amphibious reptiles in the rehab centre and swim with them in the lagoon.
How about feeding stingrays and swimming with sharks? Leopard Rays Trench is where you’ll be able to do that. Standing in waist deep water you can play with rays and see black tip sharks circling around. They are docile and don’t bite. If you put a chunk or fish in front of rays they'll climb right on top of you to get it. Rays feel velvety and spongy to the touch, sharks are shy and keep at a distance, but there are plenty of photo opportunities so don’t forget your waterproof camera.
Bora Bora – EXPERIENCE and NIGHTLIFE
Vaitape, the largest city in Bora Bora, is the place to taste local cuisine and experience fine dining Bora Bora style. Prepare for fantastic seafood, stunning views and immaculate service. French influence in Bora Bora is understandably strong, so there are many restaurants proffering French cuisine: St James Bora Bora, Lagoon Restaurant by Jean-Georges, The Chef's Table by La Villa Mahana and more. Bora Bora Yacht club serve French dishes as well, however their menu also includes Italian and Polynesian fare.
In the mood for nightlife and drinking? Consider Bloody Mary’s. It is essentially an American fish and steak house, one of the most popular drinking holes on Bora Bora. The only nightclub in Bora Bora is Le Récife Discothèque, about half a mile north of Vaitape, operating only on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 pm to 3 am.
Bora Bora – Charter a Yacht in Bora Bora
As soon as you are ready to explore coral reefs teeming with hundreds of fish species, immerse yourself in crystal clear, dazzlingly blue water and dig your toes into soft white sand, leave a message or give a call to a competent Abberley charter broker. We’ll make sure you are getting an unparalleled luxury yachting vacation in the French Polynesia and the whole South Pacific.

Yacht Charter in Bora Bora
Bora Bora yacht charter
Bora Bora's romantic beauty precedes it. A favorite destination for honeymooners and romantic escapades is Bora Bora, an island in the South Pacific, between South America and Australia. Images of the bluest shades of blue, with tall lush mountains in the background, describe Bora Bora correctly, and with modern cities, hundreds of miles away, being in Bora Bora will feel like heaven on earth.
Why charter a yacht in Bora Bora?
Being an island in the South Pacific, a yacht charter is truly an epic way to explore this fantastic tropical destination. A beautiful lagoon surrounds the island itself, and beyond this lagoon, it is covered with a barrier reef, enclosing the island and keeping it safe from strong currents and strong winds. This makes the lagoon in Bora Bora a calm and protected area where yacht charters can enjoy cruising all-year-round. With so much natural beauty around you, the views from a yacht charter are genuinely spectacular. And suppose you have more than a day to explore the waters around Bora Bora. In that case, you can discover the other majestic islands around French Polynesia, creating a vacation that will indeed provide you with an experience of a lifetime.
What are yacht charter prices in Bora Bora?
Yacht charter prices in Bora Bora differ based on several factors, such as the boat's size, the type of boat you charter, the rental duration, and the people on board. A 56-foot catamaran can cost around $34,000 for a week's rent, while a 92-foot motor yacht can cost about $59,000 for a week's rent. A 121-foot luxury yacht with five cabins can cost around $120,000 for a week's rent.
When is the yachting season in Bora Bora?
The yachting season in Bora Bora is between May to October, considered the island's dry season. Long sunny days, perfectly smooth sailing grounds, and the best weather for yacht charters are experienced during these months on Bora Bora.
Bora Bora yacht charter for a day
A yacht charter for a day in Bora Bora centers around the lagoon. There are so many things that you can do in these waters, from jet skiing, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. From the capital of Vaitape, a full day yacht charter must begin at Matira Beach, the most popular beach on the island. Cruise to the south coast and find the most extensive public access beach on the island. It features crystal clear waters and the softest white sand beach you can ever imagine. There are eateries, cafes, and shops on the beach, so it offers both convenience and natural scenery at the same time. Another must-visit is the Coral Gardens, found on a small islet east of the mainland. You can see marine life through the crystalline waters, such as moray eels, stingrays, and blacktip reef sharks.
Bora Bora yacht charter overnight
An overnight yacht charter in Bora Bora can take you to further away destinations and more attractions. For a different experience, try to cruise the east coast of Bora Bora by heading to Anau, a village representing the true Polynesian style. It's not a popularly visited village, so there are fewer crowds than the western coast. It offers a more traditional look at Polynesian life than the rest of Bora Bora, with swanky hotels, resorts, and fine dining restaurants.
Get to explore the village with its walking tours of jungle explorations, 4x4 village tours, and visit the small shops, restaurants, and the one big church found inland. Anau sits on a shallow lagoon so you can drop anchor here for the night before exploring more of the nearby villages and coastline. You can also head to Nunue, another coastal village on the east coast, and head to Matira Point before making your way back to Vaitape to end your overnight yacht charter cruise.
Bora Bora yacht charter for a week
Get to visit the rest of the Society Islands with a one-week liveaboard on board a yacht charter in Bora Bora. Upon arriving in Vaitape and exploring Bora Bora's lagoon and exquisite resorts, it's now time you start your cruise down south and explore the rest of the beautiful islands of French Polynesia. Start your yacht charter cruise in Bora Bora, exploring this island's beauty, then make your way to the first Society Island destination.
Day 1: Explore Bora Bora's Lagoon
Swim, snorkel, hike, jet ski, and dine in any of the 5-star resorts that dot the beautiful island of Bora Bora. Drop anchor on the waters off Motu Toopua, home of several mega-resorts, and stay here for the night.
Day 2, 3, and 4: Taha-a and Raiatea
Enjoy breakfast on deck before cruising to the island of Taha-a. A quiet island to the south of Bora Bora, Taha-a shares a beautiful lagoon with Raiatea's island. Legend says the two islands were one big island in ancient times. Because the two islands share this large lagoon, many of the two islands' attractions and sites are similar in nature, and the two islands also share identical interests.
In Tahaa, experience exploring vanilla farms, pearl farms, and a famous sugarcane rum distillery. Another activity you can enjoy is shopping for fresh produce, local souvenirs and crafts, and many other unique items at the Uturoa Market. From Tahaa or Raiatea, you can explore the Faaroa, the only navigable river in the French Polynesian islands, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage site of Taputapuatea, which feature ancient marae temples. Among the other activities you can enjoy, these islands include 4X4 island tours, waterfall hikes, and scuba diving.
Day 5: Huahine
Because Huahine is a little further to the eastern region of French Polynesia, it has fewer crowds and is less visited by yachts and tourists. Because of this, it has remained its allure and authenticity. It features the largest concentration of temples in French Polynesia, with the oldest one being from 700 AD and said to be built by the islands' original ancestors, which were the Lapita people. Huahine is dubbed as "The Garden Island" because of its tropical jungle, fertile land filled with coconut plantations, vanilla orchids, watermelon fields, breadfruit trees, and banana groves. Tourists who visit Huahine come back year after year, stating the island remains the same, so they keep coming back for its offering of rest, relaxation, seclusion, and tranquility.
Day 6: Moorea
Beautiful Moorea is found further south and close to the islands of Tahiti. It offers plenty of attractions and exciting adventures, such as walking trails along the foot of an ancient caldera, 4x4 tours, scuba diving, and plenty of outdoor experiences.
Day 7: Bora Bora or Tahiti
On your last day, you can either sail back to Bora Bora or make your way to Tahiti to extend your French Polynesian adventure.
Wedding yacht charter in Bora Bora
Bora Bora is among the most romantic places on earth, and a wedding yacht charter here is an experience you will never forget. A yacht charter for a wedding provides you with stunning scenery and neutral backdrops of the beautiful lagoon and the towering volcanic mountains behind you. Exchange vows on the yacht, followed by a reception on one of the resort's private beaches, then head back to the boat before sunset and cruise along the lagoon to witness the skies and water turn from blue to many shades of orange, and red at sunset.
Luxury yacht holiday in Bora Bora
Bora Bora is the place for rest and relaxation, but also adventure. It is a destination in the South Pacific that's filled with so much beauty and magic. Superyachts and luxury yachts provide you with modern accommodations as you hop from one exotic island to another from Bora Bora. It's the most indulgent way to enjoy these majestic islands in the Pacific. Bora Bora teems with exotic allure, luxury, and romantic settings. With so much natural beauty in its South Pacific location, a yacht charter is truly the only way to enjoy it with style and ultimate comfort.
