Lead SKipper

As Skipper, you need to possess strong leadership skills and the ability to remain assertive, yet calm, even in a crisis. Odysseus Lead Crew Skippers are prided on their ability to provide unrivalled support, whilst maintaining a laid-back demeanour. You will need to be approachable and easy-going as many of your clients may be beginners and will need reassurance.

Hostess / Host

The Hostess is generally regarded as a ‘people’ person and the most sociable member of the lead crew. They are the link between the crew and clients and their attitude can make or break a flotilla. If you are enthusiastic about the holiday your clients should be as well. You will need to be approachable, understanding and discreet at all times.

Marine Engineering Jobs

Sail Ionian are looking to expand their team of marine engineers for the 2024 season. The maintenance and appearance of our yachts is of great importance. Therefore our engineering team is a vital part of the company. Our reputation as the leading charter company in the Ionian hinges on guest satisfaction and our engineers ensure that everything on a yacht is kept in top condition.

As a dealer for Bavaria we stock an entire warehouse of spare parts, this not only makes sure all the equipment on the yacht works but makes the job easier and more enjoyable. We like to see our engineers take pride in their job and in their yachts. Find out more about our company here.

In short, yacht engineering is a very varied role including everything from engine maintenance, electrical and plumbing to fibreglass work. Similarly our charter fleet is varied and consists of yachts from 30 feet – 56 feet including catamarans. In addition, our engineers are also responsible for our fleet of three fast RIBs, an RYA Powerboat qualification (or equivalent) is a strong advantage for this role.

What is the work like at Sail Ionian?

Firstly, during the summer sailing season our engineering team is busiest on the day our guests arrive. Each yacht is thoroughly checked and any repairs made before the guests board. Once the yacht is out on charter the engineering team will take calls from guests with issues and if necessary go out on one of our three fast RIBs to the yacht and swiftly fix any problems. Secondly, over the winter months our team work in the nearby boat yard completing a full annual maintenance program on each yacht.

Experienced Marine Engineer

2024 in the southern ionian, greece - lefkada.

Sail Ionian are looking for a qualified  marine engineer to join our small team in the sunny, Greek Ionian islands to start work in 2024.

The position is full time and predominately shore based with accommodation provided if necessary.

Experience driving RIBs and speedboats / a powerboat license is a strong advantage. See information about RYA Powerboat courses here.

Applicants must hold an EU passport or Greek residence permit, full EU valid driving license and have experience with sailing yachts up to 60ft.

This job would suit an active person with good people skills.  Sail Ionian demand a high level of initiative and teamwork skills.  Marine engineers with Sail Ionian are able to work independently with the full support of our team.

Any relevant qualifications should be mentioned on application.

Stewardess/ Deckhand for Catamarans in Greece

We are looking for a steward/ess to be part of the team onboard on one of our charter catamarans.

Responsibilities:

• Cleaning interior of the boat (cabins, bathrooms, etc.).
• Exterior cleaning (keep clean all parts of the deck).
• Helping chef at mealtime and serving the guests.

Candidates must speak very good English and be EU citizens.

They need to hold a motorboat license and have at least one season of experience on sailing yachts (or motor).

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on yachts matching the following requirements:

• Yacht sizes:   < 24m
• Yacht types:   sailing
• Yacht uses:    charter
• Experience length:   min 6 months

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:
