What is the MSC Yacht Club? Take a look at MSC Cruises’ luxury suite area

Ashley Kosciolek

MSC Cruises sails nearly two dozen beautiful ships from home ports around the world, but their inviting sun decks can be crowded, and you're likely to encounter queues for dinner, shows and guest services.

The trick to creating a more luxurious experience on this big-ship cruise line is to book a stay in the line's Yacht Club. This upscale enclave within MSC Cruises ' larger ships offers guests more spacious accommodations, butler service and dedicated restaurants and lounges — even coffee delivered to your room each morning, just the way you like it.

Because of the Yacht Club , MSC can offer an inviting experience for cruisers who like big-ship cruising but crave more elevated accommodations, dining and amenities. MSC Cruises was one of the first lines to introduce this ship-within-a-ship concept, along with Norwegian Cruise Line . Now other popular cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean , also have adopted it.

The Yacht Club section on several of MSC Cruises' ships offers gated access to semi-private dining, butler service and more, but it comes at a price. Find out how much you can expect to pay and what you'll get for your money.

What are the MSC Yacht Club perks?

msc seascape yacht club deluxe suite vs grand suite

All stays in the Yacht Club include priority check-in and checkout; priority disembarkation and boarding on shore excursions days; free premium alcohol and Wi-Fi packages; a bathrobe and slippers; complimentary access to the Aurea Spa thermal suite; 24-hour concierge and butler services (dining and spa reservations, unpacking and repacking, morning coffee delivery, etc.); a free daily in-cabin newspaper of your choice, delivered; and the ability to change your cruise one time without penalty.

Yacht Club cruisers are also entitled to discounts of 10% on spa treatments, 20% on specialty dining packages and 40% on spa packages.

In addition, passengers booked in the Yacht Club have access to their own dedicated bar, lounge and restaurant, as well as a semi-private outdoor bar, pool and hot tubs, all on an exclusive sun deck. When ships dock at the line's private island, Ocean Cay Marine Reserve , Yacht Club passengers have private beach and restaurant access .

In their cabins, Yacht Club cruisers will find a pillow menu, memory foam mattresses, high-quality linens, bathrooms with marble floors, a specialty coffee maker, complimentary open minibar access, one gratis bottle of spirits (choose from a list of available options), free one-time snacks, 24-hour room service and nightly turn-down chocolates from Venchi, an Italian chocolatier that partners with the cruise line.

Which MSC cruise ships have the Yacht Club?

msc seascape yacht club deluxe suite vs grand suite

Thirteen ships in the MSC Cruises fleet have the Yacht Club on board:

  • MSC Bellissima
  • MSC Euribia
  • MSC Fantasia
  • MSC Grandiosa
  • MSC Meraviglia
  • MSC Preziosa
  • MSC Seascape.
  • MSC Seashore.
  • MSC Seaside
  • MSC Seaview
  • MSC Splendida
  • MSC Virtuosa
  • MSC World Europa

Upcoming vessel MSC World America (2025) also will have the Yacht Club.

The largest Yacht Club in the fleet is on MSC World Europa, offering 152 suites. The second-largest is found on the line's two Seaside EVO Class ships, MSC Seashore and MSC Seascape, which each have 131 suites.

MSC Yacht Club cabins

msc seascape yacht club deluxe suite vs grand suite

All accommodations in the Yacht Club are labeled as suites, even though they comprise some standard cabin types. The specific stateroom types offered will vary by ship, but in general, they range from windowless interior cabins and deluxe balcony rooms to Executive and Royal Suites with more space, walk-in closets and bathrooms with both showers and bathtubs.

msc seascape yacht club deluxe suite vs grand suite

New to the fleet with the line's World Class are 1,600-square-foot Owner Suites, which include multi-room layouts, walk-in closets, bathtubs and balconies, each with a whirlpool and alfresco dining area.

Also new are Duplex Suites, offering two decks of space, with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a dining area, living room and guest bath downstairs. These also include two private sun decks with loungers, one of which boasts a whirlpool.

How much does it cost to stay in the MSC Yacht Club?

msc seascape yacht club deluxe suite vs grand suite

As you might expect, the cost to stay in the Yacht Club depends on several factors, including cabin type, the length of the sailing and where you're going and when. However, in line with the rest of the brand's pricing, a stay in the Yacht Club is an excellent value when you compare it to stays in other lines' dedicated suite areas or to luxury cruise prices.

I priced out several sailings departing over the next two years on some of the line's newest and largest ships. This is what was available at press time. (Note: MSC Cruises' website will only allow me to choose a general Yacht Club designation when booking. That means a guaranteed suite within the Yacht Club, but you won't know what type it is until closer to sailing.)

Which suite number on which floor would you choose?

Are the deck plans correct? I didn't get too into it, but I only saw  Grand  suites on deck 19. The plans look like there are 2 Grand's each on decks 16 and 18. The few sailings I watched never had any Deluxe Grand Suites on any deck other than 19 either, unless they are just coincidently booked early which seems a little odd since deck 19 was mostly wide open.

Até

There are two on 16 and two on 18.  I would try for one of those as with 16 it's nice to be on the Top Sail lounge/concierge station deck and on 18 you are on the restaurant deck.  I also prefer to have cabins above rather than a sun deck.  The only ones I would avoid are the aft-most two on deck 19.

Thanks for the input...

The thing that's wierd about the deck 19 suites is that the aftmost ones (near the elevators) appear to be smaller than the ones closer to the front of the ship.  Don't know if the floor plan rendering is off or not, but it sure makes those "Grand" Deluxe suites seem the same size as the reglar "non-Grand" Deluxe suites on the two floors below.

Screen Shot 2021-02-12 at 5.26.04 PM.png

Interesting observation.  I believe the only real difference between the Grand and regular Deluxe, at least when comparing Grands on deck 19 to the regular Deluxe on lower decks, is in the length/depth of the cabin rather than the width.  Based on the stock floor plan the only real difference is the walk in closet that adds length to the cabin.   Obviously the Grands on decks 16 and 18 are wider than their standard Deluxe counterparts and are not part of this discussion.

But the eight aft-most Grands on deck 19 are the same width as the regular Deluxe below and also are the same length/depth.  The scale of the deck plans posted is misleading but when you cross reference to certain immovable points I see no difference between the width nor length of those eight aft Grand cabins on 19 and the standard Deluxe cabins below, both on decks 18 and 16.

I'll update my previous post to say I'd avoid all eight of the aft-most Grands on deck 19 as it appears they are no different size wise than a standard Deluxe.

Jeremiah1212

I imagine in reality the deck 19 cabins towards the elevators are the same size as the rest of the Grands. If you notice it looks like the stairway from 16/18/19 shrinks to half its width as you would progress to 19, making it possible to reconfigure the aft deck 19 corridor a bit in that area to allow for the longer cabin.

It's somewhat strange they placed 2 grand Grands on 16 and 18 unless there is something structural there that just happened to accommodate a wider cabin. Even the deck 19 Grands in that stack are wider than the rest. The 16 and 18 decks would be unique and configured slightly differently since they would be wider vs. longer. There's also the possibility those are actually HC cabins and just not marked as such. Or the plan is just not accurate.

I've followed a few new builds over the years and seen more than one person think they were getting some spectacularly large unique cabin only to find out it's the same as everyone else in the end.

The screenshots from the MSC website deck plans page can be misleading because they do not keep to the same scale.  It's much better to reference the Technical Sheet that lays out the decks to scale and also keeps the decks properly oriented in relation to each other.  On those plans it is more obvious that the eight aft-most Grands on 19 are no larger than than the eight aft-most Deluxe on 16.  Deck 18 has twelve Deluxe aft of the hump but you can still see they are all the same size both in width and depth by comparing to fixed features like the elevators and hump.

All the other Grands on deck 19 have the same width but are much deeper/longer than the Deluxe on the lower decks - mainly from the addition of the walk in closet.  The Grands on 16 and 18 are the same shorter depth/length as Deluxe but are wider and will likely have a different floor plan from what MSC currently shows.

SEASHORE_2020_techsheet_draft.pdf

Interesting that the tech sheet does note a cabin size of 25-43 sq/m for Grands and 25-34sq/m for Deluxe. That is a significant difference for cabins considered the same category.

Thanks for all the info and thoughts... have switched from 19044 to 19028.  The Grand Deluxes on 16 and 18 are not showing as available for my cruise.

19044 is one of the aft-most Grands near the elevators that are showing to be the same size as the Deluxes on the floors below... am puzzled as to how they are going to layout those cabins to be Grand Deluxes if they're the same size as regular Deluxes, but that's above my pay grade.

19028 is one of the wider Grand Deluxes and is the same size as the few Grand Deluxes that are available on 16 and 18.

19025, 19028 and 19002 do appear wider than the other Grands on deck 19.  Those are high traffic pool deck areas above so make sure you're okay if there might be some noises in the morning on warm itineraries.  I would expect no noise at night and early risers probably would never notice.

Thanks for the heads up... I noticed that too.

We've had experience with some deck noise overhead in the mornings while staying in a Deluxe Yacht Club cabin on the Seaside right under the pool deck.  We're not late sleepers so I'm not expecting it to be much of an issue for us.

Once, while on the NCL Jewel, we were in a suite right under the exercise room where they were lifting weights (and dropping them) right over the bed.  THAT made for some interesting noises... thought the floor was going to cave in a number of times.  😳 😁

We booked on 19 and will hope for the best as far as the sun deck noise.

A repurposed industrial site, it has become a Bahamian oasis with pristine waters and 8 beaches. MSC Yacht Club guests get special access while visiting the island, which I think is one of the significant differences from other cruise line suite programs. At the far end of the island, Yacht Club has its own dedicated area featuring the Ocean House.

Interesting observation. I believe the only real difference between the Grand and regular Deluxe, at least when comparing Grands on deck 19 to the regular Deluxe on lower decks, is in the length/depth of the cabin rather than the width.
